FW 800 and PCIe firwire card/ It works

Short story I could not get my external FW800 WD my book to work on the Mac pro system. i just installed a Sunix which I am betting the same as the Aaxeon card orderd from OWC 1 AAXFWB3414 Aaxeon FireWire 400/800 4 Port PCI Express Controller Card $107.99
Well i installed it and my My book is now working and my other 400 My book going through the PCI card. Which now free's up the system firewire bus except for the Cinema display and now the front 400 and 800 are working. Honestly i believe there is a under powered firewire bus issue on these. Now there has been talk of a speed issue with these, maybe there is have not tested that but just happy everything is working as it should
Well just copyied the same folder to the 800 aand than to the 400 and the 800 is faster. Thought I would pass this on to Firewire issues some folks are having

They do have there own AC power yes . there 500gb WD 7200 16mb cache IDE drives i believe. yes i would like to test the speed on these just to see if it is going full bore or not. They seem very fast. I have had just to much trouble with the Mac Pro bus speed or something was off just not sure.
On a side note . i ordered Techtool Pro and my main drive had 454 fragmented files and i did optimize the whole system and ran drive tests before i installed the card. Everything seems to be working very well now. Fingers crossed

  • G5 Dual Core 10.4 - Finally a PCIe eSATA card that works!

    Happy Holidays!
I recently posted a few queries/complaints about FirmTek's PCIe cards used in an older Dual Core 2.0. Unfortunately my personal experience has not been a good one. Poor communication and initial refusal of RMA; the list is lengthy. After months of tedious thorough testing, I can only conclude the drivers on their web site, are incompatible with 10.4.11. But thanx to OWC, and DAT Optic, I finally found a PCIe eSATA card that works. In fact I'm using a DAT Optic 2 port card and 4 port card in total harmony with each other.
In my opinion, the SeriTek 2ME4-E-4 design emphasis was probably geared more toward use in a Mac Pro with 10.5 and above. After two system formats, and the failure of two different FirmTek PCIe cards, that was enough for me.
Final success came with; http://eshop.macsales.com/item/DAT+Optic/ESATAPCIE21B/ (and) http://eshop.macsales.com/item/DAT%20Optic/ESATAPCIE8/
One BIG advantage with DAT Optic are the numerous readily available drivers directly from the Silicon Image web site. And their tech support is first class.
All of this is good news for users of older Power Mac G5's.
    Enjoy!

    Hi Chris
Whatever the situation was with 10.4.10, or 10.4.11, I had to conclude that FirmTek's drivers were not doing the job for 10.4.11 - The condescending technician was basically ignoring my remark that this card just doesn't work with my set up. Neither could their 2 port card work.
I had to argue my point repeatedly, (shouldn't have to do that).
In any event, I'm rolling pretty good with these 2 bay OWC clearance eSATA enclosures, (got 4 of them). No bridge, just good ole eSATA connections. Sure took long enough to get to this place.
    Happy Holidays

  • Is there example code for using Ni488 and PCI-GPIB card in non controller mode?

Is there example code for using Ni488 and PCI-GPIB card in non controller mode?

    cymrieg,
Your code looks good to me. What is the problem? What happens when it fails? What is the IBSTA value on the controller, and at what point in the code does it stop? What is the IBSTA value on the slave, and at what point does it stop?
One thing is that you might not want to call IBCLR() in a loop on the device. At the beginning of the program is fine...This will send a clear command to the device and will clear out any LACS and TACS bits that might be set. Also your IBDEV call shouldn't be in a loop.
Hope this helps, but let me know if you need more information.

  • Problem with KTV3 and PCI USB card extension from QTEC type 13068

    Hello all,
I have been trying to make work a PCI USB card extension from QTEC type 13068. This card allows to give 4 USB  ports more.
My problem is that oinly 2 ports are working and WINXP SP1 is saying that there are not enough ressources for all the PCI functions. However there is enough free IRQ. Even using this card alone on the mainboard give the same error.
I am using a KTV3 (MS-6712 VER:1.0A) and I have no idear why this is happening. Could it be a bad interaction between the BIOS and the card?  wall Or WIN XP? angryfire
All comments and ideas to try are welcome especially from those who have this QTEC card.
    Regards.

What operating system are you using?  The card requires SP1 for XP and SP4 for 2000.  If you have these, try to uninstal the cardl and let Windows reinstall the card on start-up.

  • How do I get my PCI-CAN card to work in my Dell computer?

I am trying to get a PCI-CAN card working in a Dell GX110 computer. The computer quits right after the initial Dell spalsh screen goes away. After that point, I only get a flashing cursor in the top left corner. NI support suggested a bios upgrade, but the computer is already at the latest bios rev. When I remove the card, the computer boots fine. What do I try next?
    Lars

The problem may be related to a specific chip ( MITE) on the PCI CAN card. Please call us at 512-795-8248 with the part no and the serial of the PCI CAN card, so that we can verify whether the CAN card may have a hardware problem and have you send the card back to us for repair or to get a replacement.

  • PCIe Serial Card Stopped Working in Yosemite

I have a PCIe serial card in a Mac Pro based on the 16950 that's been working fine up until Yosemite. It's been working with the built-in Apple16x50Serial.kext driver.
With Yosemite, it looks like the driver loads okay, but no serial port appears under /dev/, and no IOBSDSerialClient for the card appears in ioreg either.
This is the same device used in the older XServe's with serial ports.

  • USB PCI-Express Card half working???

    I just purchased and installed a SYBA PCI-Express USB 2.0 5 Ports Controller Card (Model SD-PEX-NEC5U) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812186010&Tpk=SD-PEX-NEC5U
I think it's half-way working. I did some researching prior to my purchase and I was under the impression that the Mac Pro (2006) could accept any PCI-express card. I have my Kensington USB bluetooth adapter plugged in (to the internal port) and it powers the adapter light and both my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard work perfectly. However any of the devices I plugged into the rear 4 ports are not working... (ie my Western Digital 1 TB hard drive that has 2 partitions on - one for Time machine backups and one for regular storage)
According to the Syba website, Mac OSX is not listed as a supported OS. The card came with a drivers disc but doesn't have any Syba drivers on it... tons of other manufacturers.
Can anyone offer advice about installing drivers or "adding hardware" (a la Windows)? Again, it's working with my bluetooth... so whats up with my hard drive?

A safe place to check and start your research is OWC.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/add-ons-and-hubs/pci-pcmcia-cards
As for MyBook - they can be iffy; if a drive fails, it is built into the case, so I prefer to buy cases with USB/FW and that you can install a drive yourself, even if comes with one.
USB: when there is FireWire and you can easily add SATA PCIe, yes they cost more but then they can drive multiple drives at full performance too.
When you buy generic cards, see if they use the same chipset as found in Sonnet Allegro and others.
    Then check
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ for reports in their upgrade database and articles.
And no, it requires PCIe, but not just any (and even PC with Windows 7, some cards can also be problem).

  • Setting up PCI-DNET card to work with Eurotherm 2404 Controller w/Device Net

I have installed the NI PCI-DNET card in my PC running W2000 and the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer.  I have also wired from the PC Card to a Eurotherm 2404 Controller with a Device Net Module and have terminated the connection with a 120 Ohm termination resistor.  The baud rate and address have been configured on both ends to match, however although I am getting a good connection to the board I am not able to pick up the device when I run the "Simple Who" funtion.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

    Hi,
When you say “…address have been configured on both ends to match”, do
you mean that you set the ‘Interface MAC ID’ of the dialog that comes
up when you start Simple Who to the one that is used by the Eurotherm
    2404 Controller?
Simple Who is a master/scanner in a DeviceNet network, thus the
‘Interface MAC ID’ you configure is the one of the master, which must
not be identical to the one of any slave devices in the network. So,
try setting the ‘Interface MAC ID’ to a value other than the one used
    by the Eurotherm 2404 Controller.

  • 10.4.3 and PCI USB Cards

I have been using a Macally 5 USB port PCI card with my PM G5. It has never given me problems connecting to USB peripherals, but like many others, it did not allow the computer to sleep properly.
When 10.4.3 came out, I noticed things changed a little. Now the computer will go into deep sleep on its own after the time I set in Energy Saver, which it never used to do. That is good, but it also now locks up when I put it to sleep or sometimes won't wake up. These problems don't happen evertime, but usually every other day or so.
I have read somewhere that the Sonnett cards work well and don't interfere with the G5's ability to sleep with 10.4.3 installed. I am ready to get rid of my Macally card (already pulled it out), and replace it. Can anyone confirm the report I read about about the Sonnett cards or recommend another one that works well?
    Thanks for the help.

Bob, I have a Sonnet Allegro USB II card in my G5. If I let the computer go to sleep on it's own it sometimes will not wake up forcing a hard restart. If I log out and then put the computer to sleep all is well. That little work around is a bit much for some, but for me it's fine as I don't leave my computer logged on when I'm not at my desk.
I'm not aware after reading many posts here that there is a card that doesn't have some issue with G5's.
    Hope this helps.....

  • K9A2 Platinum Cannot Use RAID and PCI IDE card [SOLVED]

    Hello,
I am trying to do the following set-up on my K9A2 Platinum, using a Phenom 9600 processor:
    - 2xSATA2 250GB Seagate drives on Promise T3 SATA controller (to be used as RAID 1 devices)
    - 1xSATA DVD-RW on Sb600
    - 2xIDE DVD-RW on onboard IDE
    - One PCI HiPoint RocketRAID ATA100 card (operating in IDE mode) on PCI slot 2 with 1xIDE 40GB hard disk (my Linux partition)
On the BIOS I have enabled the Extra RAID function, in order to enable Promise to work as RAID.
    The system POSTs as follows:
    - Initial detection (CPU, RAM e.tc)
    - RocketRAID gets initialized and detects the IDE disk attached (40GB)
    - Promise RAID tries to detect the disks (the RAID array) and the whole system hangs.
I've tried to relocate the two SATA hard disks to the SB600 controller (SATA 1&2 ports), but the same thing happens (after changing the BIOS to disable extra RAID function and enable RAID mode on onboard SATA SB600). The only way to POST the machine, is to remove the RocketRAID PCI card, but this way I can no longer boot my Linux disk.
Using BIOS 1.2 and 1.3beta 2 (sent to me by MSI support).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the replies.
Now, I'm going to surprise you: I managed to make both cards (the Promise and HighPoint) work together! Read how...
Somehow, I got the impression that the problems I had were either caused by the BIOS or the hard disks (the SATA ones). I flashed the motherboard back to the official 1.2, doing a complete BIOS reset (removed the battery) and tried again without the RocketRAID card installed. This time, the Promise BIOS (which btw is an earlier version from the one the 1.3b2 BIOS had) reported that the one SATA drive was malfunctioning (and it was a sealed brand-new Seagate). Removed the drive, installed it on SB600 and SeaTools indeed reported that it was failing (it didn't manage to pass even the quick test...).
Now I was curious: could it be that this - together with the beta BIOS - was the cause of my problems? I installed the other SATA disk to Promise T3 (the red socket) and the controller detected it, but all I could do is to set it up as a RAID 0 array (which pretty much does nothing). Next, I installed the RocketRAID also together with the IDE Linux disk and the system detected both disks; I can boot Linux fine and enter both the RocketRAID BIOS and Promise T3 BIOS. I can delete and recreate the array in Promise T3 as I please, but due to the fact that I only have one SATA disk now, I get limited options (RAID 0 and JBOD).
Is it safe to assume that since the Promise BIOS is working with the RocketRAID installed, that my SATA RAID controller is working?
Tomorrow, I shall return the SATA drive to the store I bought it and get a replacement, so that I can set up my RAID 1.
The plan is to have Linux boot from the IDE (I've never managed to set up a Linux disk to boot from RAID) where Windows Server 2003 will boot from RAID.
Will keep you posted about the progress I make.
BTW Bas, I'm sorry I couldn't make out much of your brainstorming
Regarding the Promise controller: the board has a Promise chip right above the SATA ports, which has the number 42819 on it. I can also verify that both SB600 RAID and Promise T3 RAID have EXACTLY the same BIOS menu interface (the only differences are the texts "ATi SB600" and "Promise T3" on the menus, plus that the SB600 has also an option to securely erase the drives which Promise does not have). Are you suggesting that the SB600 RAID is actually the Promise T3? I do not know if it would be possible to have BOTH RAID controllers (SB600 and T3) working at the same time (I do not have enough disks to try...).

  • G4 and PCI-SCSI card

I recently bought a second hand PowerMac G4 with an adaptec 2903B scsi PCI card in it. I reinstalled it with OS10.3.9. I have not been able to detect any SCSI devices yet. Am I missing a driver ? No drivers for the 2903B on the Adaptec website... I'm using it with OSX, but would like to use it also in OS9 with the MESA software for my AKAI S2000 sampler.

Adaptec or who ever made the RAID software would have the driver for OS 9. I don't have Classic/OS9 installed on my computer. I don't rember whether all drivers appear in the extensions folder.
I'll check with Adaptec, myself, and let you know.
Are you sure the card is a 2903 and not a 2930?

  • Any PCIe USB cards that work with Yosemite?

I have a late 2012 MacPro currently running OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).  I search for a PCIe card with a minimum of 4 USB ports what will work with this system (most I've found online so far indicate "incompatible with Yosemite").  Anyone aware of a card out there that does work?  I am not connecting hard drives to the card so speed is not an issue (the card could be USB 2 or 3).
    Thanks,
    Carl

I've been using one of these

for years in my 2008 Mac Pro.  USB 2.0
    Works fine with Yosemite.
(Don't worry about the big power connector on the card.  It's not used for a Mac.)

  • Tape drive  and pci-x card  with Solaris 10 on  VMWare environment

I have a Sun X4170 server (x84_64) running VMWare ESXi 4.0. On it I have two VM guests- my production file server running Solaris 10 U7 and a test file server running Solaris 10 U9.
The X4170 has a PCI-X LSI Logic dual external U320 parallel scsi card. I have a tape drive + auto loader cabled to the X4170. It is a Quantum branded autoloader but I believe the tape drive itself is HP. The autoloader+tape drive share a single SCSI ID (6) but have separate LUNS.
I have two choices for making this system accessible to the OS:
    -     Virtualize the tape drive and loader individually.
    -     In VMWare, enable the scsi card as a pass through device. The SCSI card is then added as PCI device to the virtual machine (actually two devices since it is a dual scsi card.)
I had virtualized a single-drive tape drives with Vmware in the past.
However, when I tried I virtualize tape drive and loader, Solaris complained about the scsi id’s being invalid. I don’t think it likes two devices with a single scsi ID. Also, I think I need the backup software to see the REAL tape drive and autoloader (for inventory, changing tapes etc)

Actually, updating the kernel patches (and enabling hot plug service) did solve the problem. At some point during between testing the system before and after patching, the tape drive got turned off. Since the system patching was being done remotely it was not immediately obvious that the tape drive was off.

Is the Data Acquisition palette completely missing? It may be that if you initially installed LabVIEW without NI-DAQ, that none of the VI's got installed. You may have to reinstall at least part of LabVIEW.
