FW CDRW Not In Profile

My Que Fire 12X10X32 cdrw is no longer visible in the Apple profile list. It doesn't show up in Toast 4.1.3 or iTunes 1 either. I have initialized the HD several times, incrementaling installing OS 9.1, 9.2.1, 9.2.2 and the different authoring support patches (up to 1.1.9) - checking between each install to see if the cdrw shows but it doesn't. The FW driver is 2.8.4. In the Apple profile the firewire port shows fw609e,10483, then sbp609e, 104d8 in a separate box. The cdrw shows up on a PC with FW. It also shows in the new Intel Apple laptop (OS X 10.4.x) and works. I can't seem to figure out or determine why it doesn't show up on my G4. I'm also aware of the conflicts between iTunes and the old Toast but since it doesn't show up in the Apple profile I'm stumped. I could throw the old cdrw away but I'm concerned that a new FW DVD-RW might do the same thing. It did work at one time. I didn't use it that much. The cdrw mechanism is the TEAC CD-W512E-B02. The firmware is QPS 214 9-19-200. Thanks for anyones help.

I'm also aware of the conflicts between iTunes and the old Toast but since it doesn't show up in the Apple profile I'm stumped.
The conflict is actually between Apple's Authoring Support software and many versions of Toast; one symptom of the conflict is that it prevents the Mac from being able to 'see' the external burner, including noting it in System Profiler.
To use Toast, try disabling these extensions in Extensions Manager -
Authoring Support
Firewire Authoring Support
SDAP Authoring Support
USB Authoring Support
Disc Burner Extension
To use Disc Burner and Authoring Support, try disabling the Toast extensions.
Many users of both sets of software find it useful to create diferent extension sets in Extensions Manager, to facilitate switching from one to the other.
Also, Toast's CD Reader extension can sometimes interfere with an optical drive.

I'm using Vista, 32 bit - not even downloading the beta version of Firefox 4 helps; it downloads (just like the regular version of Firefox, 3.4) and I can install it, but trying to run it gives me nothing - no warning, no text; it just doesn't open up, but is still visible in my start menu, programs folder and in task manager. And not even profile manager opens up.

Make sure that you do not remove your personal data when you uninstall Firefox. Then you won't lose personal data stored in a different location in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks Firefox. 
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database.

Suddenly getting UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database

Starting yesterday (I believe) we are suddenly receiving a "User not found" error when trying to view a user's profile page when clicking on their name (in search or elsewhere) via the url

This is happening for all users. (but profiles exist and seem ok, and sync with AD is running fine) When looking in the logs I see the error (full ULS log is later below)
Exception in LoadRequestedUserProfile: (Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database.
The only clue of what MAY be going on is just before that I see the following two lines which came up after I changed the Database logging to Verbose:

If I am reading that correctly, does it mean the connection to the database is timing out instantly? I am able to use powershell to pull up profiles and print them to the screen while on the webservers. And it's only the one specific page that is not
working.
What sort of tests or further debugging can I do for the error above?
We are on premise, SharePoint 2013 sp1, sql2012, server 2012, claims using the full SharePoint Profiile Sychronization against AD. Farm has been running since last august. Last week the admin team did run windows update on all servers, I can't be sure
if it was broken for 5 days and no one noticed or if it broke yesterday.
I already did the following:
Verified the profiles do exist in central admin.
I can still access their personal sites directly via
https://www.contoso.org/personal/myuserlogin
I checked the ProfileDB database and made sure the service accounts for the UPA has dbowner, so does the farm account, and the web application pool has SPDataAccess.
Verified the AD sync account has proper rights in AD.
I reran a full synchronization which ran with no errors.
File systems on the webservers and appserver have plenty of free space.
Rebooted every server in farm
I even checked the bin directory of the mysite webapplication, (since once I had a weird problem where access to bin was removed.) WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG_W4 have full control and WSS_WPG,IIS_IUSRS all have read and execute.
I opened powershell on the webserver I can indeed load profiles and print their values.

After translating a small file HelloWorld.sqlj
the following files are created:
HelloWorld_SJProfileKeys.class
HelloWorld.class
HelloWorld.java
Although there is a HelloWorld_SJProfileKeys.class, profile file HelloWorld_SJProfile0.ser has NOT been created.
The starting file .sqlj file HelloWorld.sqlj is taken from O'Reilly book 'Java Programming with Oracle SQLJ' by Jason Price. The file contains a valid SQL statement to display the date.
My environment variables were set up with instructions from:
http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/12/05/learning_sqlj.html
When I run java HelloWorld to run the .java file, I get the error:
SQLException java.sql.SQLException: profile HelloWorld_SJProfile0 not found: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: HelloWorld_SJProfile0
I searched the internet high and low for a similar error to mine but I could not find a match.

Firefox will not start at all ... not even profile mananger will start

After an auto overnight reboot initiated by a Windows update (XP 5.1 SP3) Firefox will not start at all ... not even Profile Manager ... all that happens is a few seconds of hourglass on the cursor and then nothing ... this is happening on two different computers at the same time ... identical symptoms ... any advice?

I had the problem after I restarted the computer when Firefox indicated that was needed to install updates. After that every attempt to start Firefox resulted in no response at all. I went to my program list and found Firefox Safe Mode. That started OK. I then closed it. After that Firefox started OK.

How can I move my old messages from my PC to my new Macbook (not the profile, just the messages)?

I have used Thunderbird for years as I am a business owner who needs to keep a copy of old emails. I have just changed from a PC to a Macbook pro, and want to move all my old archived messages from the past 2 or 3 years to my Mac, including non-archived messages (Sent & Trash) from this year. I have already created my profile in the new Mac, and have been using it for the past couple of weeks. (By the way, this is a POP mail profile.) Now I just want to move the old messages over. Which exact files do I copy and paste, and into which folders? If the folders do not yet exist, I guess I need to create them first. But where on the Mac? I have found (on my old PC) the "Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/username/ directory with Archives and Trash subdirectories. But each directory seems to have a name (like "Inbox", or "Sent" or "2013") and another file with the same name, but an ".msf" suffix (like "Inbox.msf" or "Sent.msf" or "2013.msf"). Thanks in advance to any who can help.

The file structure is a little complex. I will use inbox as an example.
Inbox (a large file with no file extension)
Inbox.msf ( An index of inbox with tags etc. Can be deleted with only loss of tags)
Inbox.sdb (a folder, indicating that the folder within Thunderbird has a sub folder.
POP mail is stored in
Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/[Server name]/
Local folder is stored in
Appdata/Roaming/Thunderbird/Profiles/*.default/Mail/Local Folders/
As long as you do not overwrite, you can copy and paste whole folder trees into local folders (stuff on your old computer under a mail account is best relocated to local folder and then sorted as necessary afterwards.
Note that you should delete foldertree.json after making those sorts of copies (it forces a full refresh of the folder tree, no cache) and under no circumstances copy data with Thunderbird running. It can irrevocably corrupt things

DL speed not matching profile (I think)

I have been with BT for about 3/4yrs now and only ever had one issue during that time which was sorted very swiftly. Now my download speed has always been a constant 1.9mb and I have been happy with that up until I started my new job last week. Long story short I will be DL files that exceed 1gb regularly and having to wait around 30mins or more for a file is proving a little bit taxing on my work. I looked into this IP profile and DL test and by the judging by those results I think I should be getting more speed.
HH3 Firmware version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11 (Type A) last update 18/12/12
Router not plugged into master socket (its int he middle of my hallway so impratical)
Nothing else on the line except for one Landline phone
Old issue was with DL speed being extremely slow but this was resolved when I removed the sky connection from the phone socket.
BT standard filter used for router/phone

Download speedachieved during the test was - 10.03 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 10.24 Mbps

I agree with Reed and with your attenuation I would hope for about 15mb connection spped but I can't see from your stats how you will achieve that apart from trying the test socket which may wel increase your speed and reduce your errors
do you find that pages load slower at night as the noise margin drops and your crc/hec errors and error seconds begin to increase?

Firefox does not open, profile manager does not open, not listed in task manager

firefox worked fine about two days back. Our norton expired so I downloaded Kaspersky Anti-Virus 12.0.0.374. I don't know if that has any connection to firefox not working.
I click on the icon, nothing happens. The task is not mentioned in the task manager.
I try to run it in safe mode, nothing happens. I try to open the profile manager, nothing happens! What can I do to fix this?

Thank you fmdeveloper! I did some more research after I posted the question and it turns out Kaspersky was not the issue. I had done a system restore two days back and it says online that after a system restore, you have to uninstall and reinstall firefox. So I uninstalled it (kept my settings and data) and reinstalled it and voila, it works!
I did switch from Kaspersky to Avira too for Anti-vifus, don't know if that's a sane decision or not, but it's good to know that Kaspersky was not the culprit!

Payload variables not working & Profiles stuck on 'Sending'

I've been trying to use Profile Manager to specify user e-mail accounts on Mac devices (eg, MacBooks) but I've been encountering a couple of problems. I've tried searching around and didn't find any answers.
First of all I'm running the latest Mountain Lion Sever. All clients have up-to-date Mountain Lion too.
Problem 1: Payload variables not working
I'd like to automatically setup Gmails on the MacBooks. Now the users' email addresses are already set to their gmail accounts. So all I have to be able to do is use the %email% payload variable as the username when I go set up the (IMAP) mail accounts in the Profile Manager. However, when I download the profile to the device, it does not convert the payload variable; ie, it tries to log into gmail with the username '%email%'. Other payload variables do not work either.
Oddly enough, the payload variables work as they should with iOS devices...
Problem 2: Profiles stuck on 'Sending'
After enrolling the devices, it seems a hit and miss whether the MacBook downloads the correct profiles from the server... Is there a way to force on the MacBook to update/refresh its profiles? Also, when I update profiles within Profile Manager, the changes are pushed to iOS devices fine but not to MacBooks. Those tasks are all stuck on Sending... Logging in, restarting etc. sometimes helps but not always... Is there a reason why?

DVD/cdrw not working correctly

I have a Satellite A135-S2246 running W/Vista with a Mat**bleep**a 770 DVD/CDRW drive. The DVD/CDRW will only read CD's and not DVD's. It will read a music CD but not the Toshiba Recovery disc or movie. I'm not sure when this started. I have already attempted deleting the upper & lower filters in the registry. I have also tried deleting the device from Device Manager, hoping it would reinstall correctly. TIA for any help.

DVD - CDRW not speeding up

T40 Type 2373 with a DVD - CDRW. Need to reformat hard drive and reload WIN XP and new programs. DVD will not spin to full speed. Light goes on and spins slowly in what sounds like a cyclic manner. Tried several CD's. Ejects properly.

Sound like it could be just reaching the end of its service life, i have replaced mine T40's drive with one i stole off (i borrowed it should i say on a permanent basis, cough cough) my friend's non working T43 just couple of months ago, it was replaced under warranty one and half year before that too. I could only blame myself as i was using a lot of scratched and dirty discs. But anyhow you could get a second hand replacement off ebay or just use an external dvd-burner or something, like i do now too.

Firfox Does not open at all not even Profile Manager.

Ok so as of i believ yesterday, Firefox does not open. I can click on the Firefox icon a million times and in my taskmanager it will show all the instances of firefox running, however, it does not open and i am forced to use IE (which i hate). I have looked through the trouble shooting guide and was recommended to create a new profile, and when i try to open the profile manager, it does the same thing, shows up in task manager but does not open the Profile Manager.
Now i have uninstalled Firefox TWICE and even selected the checkmark which deleted all the setting and bookmarks the second time to see if that helped. But it does the same thing.
Please HELP ME!! i can't express how mucvh i hate IE and will die if i have to continue using it. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!

G'day. I'm visiting on my Firefox browser - Yay. Thought I'd update this. After I wrote this last night, (with IE browser) the confirmation e-mail's link wouldn't even work.
I deleted the offending program. I used CC Cleaner to run through the computer. Still no go. I went to bed with AVG scanning everything.
I woke to find AVG had done it's work, finding 2 problems and fixed. Still no access to mozilla.
I shut down whole computer (intending to start in safe mode). Got distracted and missed the bootup prompt. Logged on anyway, so I'd have something to tell the 'help' line here.
Woo hoo! I must have done something right, because here I am, via the link in last night's email.
The offending program was via 'Ancestry . com'. I'm off to tell them now.

Player Works in Administrator Profile, But Not User Profiles

I am running Windows XP, SP 3, and Flash Player 10.0.32.18.
Flash Player functions correctly in my administrator desktop profile, but whenever my wife or my daughter try to use a function on a Web site that uses Flash, they get a prompt to update Flash Player. I have downloaded the update on my wife's profile over and over again (because she has administrator rights, my daughter's profile does not), but the same prompt appears when clicking on whatever Web page function she wants to use. I had the same issue with Nero a couple of years ago, and the company that publishes that program had a program that I downloaded to enable their product to function in all user profiles.
Is there a similar solution for Flash Player? I have not found a reference to such a solution anywhere.

In order to use it with OS X it must be compatible with a Mac and its drive must be formatted to use on a Mac. Since the device is apparently not originally intended to be used on a Mac you should contact Creative and obtain instructions for doing so if in fact it's possible to do so.

Not getting profile in Target Info for Distribution

I have followed all the required steps given in Program Portal. I created distribution certificates, profile and etc.
When i am trying to install this mobile profile into iphone, it doesn't take this profile.
I am not getting my profile in Target->Info. I don't know that what is problem.
One things is that when i installed certificates that time it didn't ask me any password or login. Is this problem?.
