FW CS5 very slow

Hello!
After installing FS CS5 I created a Website 1,2 MB! When I try to open this site I have to wait more then 20 seconds!
When I put in links I try to do other things, I have to wait about 20 seconds.
I work with an iMac 2,66 GHZ, 4 MB 1067 MHZ!
Please excuse my "English"!
I hope, you can help me!
Thanks a lot!
Juergen

What do you mean, you "created a Website" in Fireworks?
Fireworks is a design and graphics program and it isn't the best tool for creating HTML pages and sites. Did you export your design from Fireworks as images? That would make a page that is very large and slow to load.

  • Flash CS5 very slow to start up

    My version of Flash CS5 has recently become very slow to start up, taking well over a minute sometimes.
    It appears to stall for the longest time during a loading process called "...Loading Accelerators" (yes, very ironic).
    Anyone have any idea what may be causing this behaviour?
    Mac Pro running Mac OSX 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard) and 14Gb RAM.

    Yes I am using Sophos!
    Do Sophos have a feature/bug request page? This is one feature I can do without!
    Thanks for your help.

  • Photoshop CS5 very slow performance, MacBook Pro i7

    Hi, I've noticed some posts on slow screen redraw, but my issue seems to be with specific performance with web based files having many layers and layer groups.
    A sample file is a 27mb psd. It has lot of layers (525), mostly type layers (limited to 3-4 typefaces in the file) and layer groups. If I select a particularly large layer group and try to move it on the canvas, I get the Adobe throbber cursor icon for at least 20 seconds. Even small layer groups bring up the throbber cursor for a few seconds. Overall, things seem much slower than CS4. Not good! And I'm just speaking of basic operations, not hitting intensive tools or major filters yet.
    I've looked at the site below, but not much information except the option to purchase some scripts to 'warm-up' Photoshop. After what I spent on Design Premium, I don't think I should have to purchase third party scripts to warm it up. (I did experiment with the tiles option under performance pref's, but upping that made opening files take 2 minutes, where before opening was achieved in 10-15 seconds.
    http://macperformanceguide.com/index_topics.html#OptimizingPhotoshopCS5
    I have a brand new MacBook Pro i7, 8GB, 7200 internal drive. I installed everything from a fresh install of Snow Leopard. CS4 has never been installed on this Mac.
    Any thoughts?

    if you have 4GB RAM, the system would need about 1-2GB,
    so if you quit all other apps and only run PS, it has 2-3GB RAM left.
    you can set RAM-usage in percentage, in the settings menu of photoshop,
    i set it to 70%, the rest is for osx.
    so lets say PS uses 2GB RAM in your case, the more hires images you open at once and the more layers they have,
    and the bigger they are, the 2GB RAM are gone and PS will use the scratch disc for the mentioned images you opened at once, which is also configured in the settings menu. usage of a scratch disc (PS writes data to the scratch disc permanently) will slow down overall performance, it may lagg and everything is slower than before (in my experience). best for scratch disc usage is a separate, fast, internal disc, as huge as possible (50-250GB discsize and empty, no files on it, so that PS can write continously, in order to avoid disc-fragmentation, which would slow down the writing process additionally)
    thats the reason i would add 8GB RAM.
    RAM is very important for photoshop CS5.
    (also processor clock speed and number of cores - in the moment 2 cores are enough
    as CS5 isnt optimized yet for more than 4 or 6 cores. more to come soon, i hope...
    in my case, i added 24GB RAM, cause i want to avoid usage of a scratch disc at all. this is a huge gain of performance for myself.
    i never liked my old scratch disc, as working was terrible slow with it. i also had only 4GB RAM in my last mac, and working was no fun
    i work on large format files, 50-100cm at 300dpi and lots of layers, each layer has to be seen like an image itself, so each layer rises RAM consumption.
    its a pitty that i never saw adobe delivering some kind of performance guide for photoshop, how to improve performance for professional users, like posting that guide on their main photoshop site, i had to digg for these informations for a long period of time and found it in the end at diglloyd´s comprehensive site. i wonder why adobe makes a secret about photoshop performance, a lot of my friends at work mentioned formerly, that they have had huge lag issues and dont know where to begin solving these problems, which are solvable for sure.... (new hardware, proper settings and so on)
    you can read detailed instructions, on how to speed up things in PS here: (where i took it for myself)

  • Photoshop CS5 Very Slow Liquify

    I've noticed that in Photoshop CS5, Liquify just works terribly slowly. When I click and drag to distort an image, the image gets distorted sometimes even 10 seconds after I've lifted my hand. Sometimes I have to wait 30-40 seconds for the distortions to happen before I can regain control of Photoshop.
    Also, panning is a bit more choppy than in CS4, which annoys me a lot, as it was the case with CS4 compared to CS3, etc... I predict that panning in CS7 will look like a slideshow.
    And another thing, when you Flick-Pan, and release the mouse, the canvas flies across the screen, and during that flying animation, in CS4, you could still zoom in and out with the keyboard. In CS5, you have to wait until the canvas has slowed down to a stop to be able to zoom. This is also a strange feature.
    Adobe said CS5 will have performance improvements, and I can see filters, adjustments and brushes perform a tiny bit better, but basic things like panning, zooming and liquify got MUCH worse and less responsive, and this is not worth the tradeoff for me, since I use these features very frequently, many times a second.
    I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet most of the time, and I noticed that Liquify is much faster (although still too slow for me to use it) when I use my trackpad instead of the pen.
    I'm using the Photoshop CS5 trial now, and I have Photoshop CS3 and CS4 both installed on the same computer, so I can tell that CS3 ran much faster, CS4 was a bit slower and CS5 is a LOT slower. I'm using a late 2008 15 inch Unibody MacBook Pro with 9600M / 9400M graphics, 4GB RAM and 2.53 GHz CPU, and speed gets a bit better when using the 9600M.
    Here are my questions:
    Has anyone else had any of these problems, especially Liquify?
    Has anyone else used CS5 and noticed that Liquify runs just fine?
    Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could try to cure any of these problems?
    Is it possible that this is the way Photoshop CS5 should run on my computer, due to my hardware limitations and bloated software?

    How long is it going to take to fix this liquify problem?? Come one guys I need it to work now and better than in CS4 not worse!!! Otherwise why did I spend almost 1K to upgrade???
    Looking into the problem isn't enough!!! I need a solution since I use the liquify tool for almost 99.9% of my images (fashion/beauty photography retouching).
    Is there a temporary fix??? using the CS4 liquify plugin into the CS5 software?????
    do  a google search on slow liquify and see what comes up..... still pretty nice and insecure requests for the reason why it is so slow because users think it is their machine (computer) but if I don't get an answer and fi very soon (couple of days at the most) this nice and insecurity will vanish for a HUGE ADOBE *** kicking campaign !!! Since photoshop is known for their arrogantly slow updates for their software and waits till the next big update to correct things....I am not going to wait 18 months for you guys to fix the liquify problem!!!
    SO GET TO IT NOW!!!!! So I can do my work and make enough money to keep spending on adobe upgrades!
    And as a side note...didn't you "wizzards" have enough time to discover this BIG problem beforehand?? Or were you to busy fighting with Apple about your huge Flash problem??

  • Encore CS5 very slow when selecting the File tab

    Good morning.
    This is the first I have ever experienced this.  Encore CS5 is extremely slow when I try to select the file Tab.  All other tabs like Edit are fine.  It is also takes forever to Save anytime. I usually just use Encore for short no menu DVD's I'm building a DVD with a few sideshows and an hour of video. I haven't started the menu yet. I updated the latest from Adobe yesterday and I am current with the Window 7 64 bit updates.  All other applications in the Master Suite work fine.  I think my system should be enough to run Encore without any problems.  Any suggestions? I'm all ears!...

  • Save to web and devices is very slow (CS5)

    Hi folks,
    I have a problem with the "Save to web and devices" in my Photoshop CS5 (64-bit version). Doesn't matter if the image I am saving is large or tiny (8-bit/RGB), when opening this window everything goes in snail speed. All option boxes takes several seconds to initialize, if I change lets say from PNG to JPEG (doesn't really matter what format) it again uses several seconds to initialize. Also when hitting Save, more seconds goes before I can save.
    The problem is only with Save to web and devices (and when starting PS if I chose my custom setup which utilizes a second monitor for the palettes).
    This problem wasn't there when first installing PS5, but came later when applying updates to it. Do I overlook some option in preferences or is there anything I can do (besides from reinstalling) ?
    My system is:
    Asus Rampage III Extreme with Intel i7 975 extreme edition (8 cores) and 12 GB memory.
    2x Corsair SSD 120GB (linked in dual for the true 6 Gb/s port on the Asus motherboard)
    Thanks for any respons!
    PVP

    Thanks for the responses, but none of these apply I am afraid.
    The temp/scratch discs are moved to a another (plate) disc. As I already mentioned this problem wasn't appearant until one of the updates from Adobe was applied.
    I could of course reinstall the packages, but if there is some magic setting I can change to fix this I would prefer that. The slowness is there no matter what size the image I want to save is at as well as affecting the user interface of the dialog itself, so this indicate it's a more subtle and low-level in the code.
    I should perhaps state that I am what you can consider a professional computer user. Almost 30 years in the business mainly with software development and building computer hardware. I have eliminated most of the common reasons. This, to me, appears to be software related. I can also mention that starting Photoshop with many palettes on a secondary screen also is drawn up very slow way.
    I can try to video record what is happending.

  • CS5 - publishing AS2.0 SWFs very slow

    Having just recently started to work with CS5 I can't help noticing that publishing/exporting SWFs is very slow compared to CS3. A file that takes 3 seconds for CS3 to publish takes, on average, 12 seconds to publish in CS5... 4 times slower!
    Anyone know of anything we can do to reduce the amount of time needed to publish? This is a pretty powerful kit - 2.67GHz quad-core CPU with 6GB of RAM so it shouldn't really be having any performance issues!
    Or is this just a 'benefit' of 'upgrading' to CS5?!
    Any suggestions (other than 'move to AS3.0', thanks!) gratefully received...!

    Magnus is correct - here's the relevant info lifted from the MXO release notes:
    Adobe Media Encoder
    ¦ Note If you’re using Adobe Media Encoder with a Matrox MXO2 product that
    has the Matrox MAX option, see also “Matrox MAX H.264 encoding (MAX
    option)” on page 10.
    • When you export a Matrox PAL sequence to MPEG2-2 DVD format using
    Adobe Media Encoder, set the Field Order to Upper under Basic Video
    Settings in the Export Settings dialog box. Otherwise, your export may
    be blurry. (Ref# 51007)
    • If you find that switching the export format in the Export Settings dialog
    box sometimes takes a long time, such as when you switch from Microsoft
    AVI to MPEG2-DVD, rename the SurCodeWrapper.vca file on your system
    (for example, rename the file to SurCodeWrapper.vca.bak). This file is
    usually installed by Adobe Premiere Pro in the following folders:
    $ \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\MediaIO\codecs\
    $ \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder CS5\MediaIO\codecs\
    Be aware that after renaming the SurCodeWrapper.vca file, you won’t be able
    to export audio to SwCode Dolby Digital, but you will still be able to export
    audio to Dolby. (Ref# 55279 and Adobe Ref# 2603943

  • Lightroom is very slow, utilizes 100% CPU, then freezes or closes program.  How do I fix it?

    I am having a problem with Lightroom 5 being very slow, utilizing 100% CPU, then freezing or closing the program.  How do I fix it?
    I just upgraded to LR5 from LR3 on Sunday as well as CS6 from CS5 (which I have not tried out yet).  I spent several hours talking with Vamil, from LR Support Staff yesterday.  He was extremely helpful and kind and tried everything he could think of while remote-handling my PC and talking with me on the phone.  He deleted preferences, cache, temp files, updated graphics with a new replacement file from AMD site, then re-downloaded and reinstalled LR5.
    It is still very slow and then freezes and closes down with a message of utilizing 100% CPU.  Within several seconds of using the brush in Develop, I started having lots of problems.  I could not even move the picture around.  The side screens would not disappear like they should.  And I could not move to another picture.  The day before I spent several hours trying to work on just 1 picture.  After all the changes yesterday, I tried to move from picture number 1 to about 130 after having not touched it for 10 minutes, and a half hour later, it still said, "Processing" with no picture coming up, just a blank prieview pane.
    LR Support suggested I get a new CPU though he thought according to specs mine should be ok and other programs were running fine.
    My PC is only 2 years old.
    I talked to HP briefly about CPU updates for my HP PC.  He said I probably do not have a problem but suggested I run self-diagnostics and maybe buy a new CPU anyway.
    I ran diagnostics listed through the HP Support Assistant connection on my PC.  All was ok.
    I still researched if I could buy a compatible CPU upgrade.  I cannot even find any CPUs still selling that are listed for my PC.  Best Buy Store said they could not even order a compatible CPU.  They said my Bus speed may not be big enough, so they suggest I get a new PC.  What Bus speed do I need?
    I have the following PC Setup:
         AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor 2.70 GHz with 6 Cores
              with 2700 MHz Base, 3200 MHz Boost, and 4000 System Bus Speed, and 95 watts;
         HP Pavilion Elite, HPE-500y, 900 GB Free, new in 2011;
         Windows 7, 64 Bit;
         RAM 16 GB, DDR3;
         Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6450;
         Nikon, D200, with Raw Files;
         External Hard Drive for Original Photos, 600 GB Free;
         LR Catalog and Library are on Main Hard Drive;
         Monitor, Sony CPD-200ES, new in 2004.
    I am thinking of buying a new monitor tonight mostly so I can do better photo work while enlarging the pictures to do it.  I am concerned that while it will help my viewing, it will take more power away, and make my usage of LR5 even worse.  Will a new monitor affect my performance?  I am looking at HP Monitors with IPS.  Is this the best recommended choice for LR and Photoshop CS6?
    I think I would like to stay with a 6 core processor since I need to have several items open for other non-Photoshop functions.  When running LR5, I had everything else closed.  With LR3, I was able to have other things open.
    I do not really want to buy a new computer and know that those I have talked with at this point are only guessing after looking for what they thought should fix it.  4 People from Lightroom Support have all thought I should not be having problems with my setup.
    I bought one of the best computers 2 years ago.  Is it really obsolete already so that I cannot use LR5?  Is everyone else buying a new PC every 2 years?  I used to go 5-7 years.
    Even though I have figured out some of what my PC has, I really do not know technically what I am talking about so am at the mercy of other's help.  Are there any solutions that might work short of buying a new computer?
    I also have taken 40th anniversary photos for some people and am waiting to give them as a free gift since I am not a professional at all.  I am hoping to get through this problem soon so that I can provide some nice memories for them.
    I have not gotten any further than trying to adjust 1 picture.  I have no comments on uploading speed, since I did that while still in LR3.
    Thank you for your time and help.

    I'm running LR with no speed issues on an Intel 17-860 quad core with about the same performance as your AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor. My system is also an HP, which originally had a single 1TB 7200 HDD. I've since added a second 2TB Black Caviar HDD, which provided no significant difference in LR's performance.
    AMD processors do not implement hyper-threading and don't need it. I'd start debug by process of elimination:
    1) Disconnect all externally attached USB, FireWire, or other externally connected devices except keyboard, mouse, and your single 1280 x1024 display. This includes all externally attached memory card readers, phones, ipads, etc.
    2) Reboot and logon as Administrator.
    3) Remove your Internet connection and turn off all Antivirus and firewall programs.
    4) Open LR and under Catalog Settings set 'Standard Preview Size' to 1440 (slightly larger than your display width). Under the Metadata tab here make sure 'Automatically Write changes into XMP is NOT checked.
    4) Create a 'New Catalog,' Create a new folder and add about 10 raw image file copies to it for testing, and Import it into the new catalog. In the Import module make sure under File Handling 'Render Previews' has 1:1 selected. Wait until all Preview building has completed in the Library module.
    Try editing these image files inside the new catalog as you were previously.

  • AIR 3.0 Application Built in HTML/Javascript VERY SLOW on Windows 7 and XP

    Hello AIR Team,
    The commercial AIR application I'm developing for a client (using HTML/CSS/Javascript) is VERY SLOW on my Windows 7 (64 bit) and Windows XP machines running on the Adobe AIR 3.0 runtime. I notice the poor performance in all aspects of the application, but especially on mouse events (mouseover, mouseout, click).
    However, it runs very well on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 test machine AND from within Dreamweaver CS5.5 on my Windows 7 machine.
    Chris Campbell from Adobe posted in another topic on this forum that he has notified the Adobe Webkit Team about this issue, but I'm anxious to know WHEN the Adobe AIR Team will release an AIR update/patch to resolve these performance issues.
    Any ETA on the update/patch?

  • InDesign CS5 suddenly slower...

    In Design CS5 has been running intermittently very slow recently. It will run normally for a while; then in the middle of a simple operation like copying a small piece of text, everything stalls and I get the pinwheel of death for an undetermined amount of time. Never long enought for me to bother force quitting, but happens frequently enough that it's really hindeirng my ability to get work done.
    Have done some heavy work on old, imported files from CS3 and CS4 files lately. Also  have recently installed trial versions of Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Production Premium CS5.5, but "completely" uninstalled those using the correct utilites and re-installed CS5 Design Premium afterwards. There have been some Apple Snow Leopard updates recently too. The kind of behavior I see on my activity monitor makes me think it's looking for something on a network somewhere. Either it takes a while and succeeds or it gives up and eventually moves on to the next thing. No other software being effected noticealbly except Illustrator CS5, but I use it less, so hard to name symptoms. All the CS5 apps used to run lickety split fast on this machine and just cleaned out a bunch of fonts. Things were better for a while, but now slower than before.
    I've looked all over and noone else seems to be having this problem. Thoughts anyone?

  • Photoshop CS6 - Very Slow Brush Speeds...

    Hi:
    I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.
    Photoshop CS6, 13x 64Bit
    Thank you, Glenn

    Hi:
    I had added a link to my previous post to a page regarding performance that you may want to check out.
    Thank you, I'll check it out.
    What are your Preferences > Performance settings?
    Memory Usage
    Available RAM: 9670
    Let Photoshop Use: 6769 (70%)
    I have a separate scratch disc.
    I have an ATI Radeon HD 2600 OpenGL Card set to: 'Use Graphics Processor' in Advanced mode. Tried other settings and this one seems best.
    15 History states.
    No other programs open.
    How many documents (of what sizes) do you have open?
    Only 1 PSD file open. File size is about 600 MB. Only a handful of layers.
    Does restarting Photoshop have any effect on the issue?
    No.
    >>Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.<<
    Fair enough, I'll save these comments for Adobe!
    Thank you, Glenn

  • Dragging clips to bins is very slow in Premiere CS6

    I just upgraded to Premiere CS6 from CS 5.5 (no thank you, CC) and have problems with very slow speed when dragging clips from one bin to another in the Project panel. Here are the specifics:
    I have about 1500 clips in a bin that I'm sorting through in the Project panel, putting clips into other bins as I classify them. If I have the 1500 clips sorted by the Name field, there's no delay as I move a clip or clips from the big bin to one of the smaller bins. If, however, I sort the 1500 clips by Media File Path in the Project panel (which puts the clips in chronological order because the file names reflect date and time), then doing the same work results in an 8-second delay every time I try to move a clip between bins.
    I get the 8-second delay each and every time I drag a clip between bins. It occurs whether I select a single clip to drag or drag multiple clips. As soon as I sort in the panel by Name field instead of the Media File Path field, dragging has no delay.
    I have no such trouble with delays in CS5.5, so I'm at a loss. I need to have the bin sorted by Media File Path, because I need them in chronological order as I evaluate them. But an 8-second delay each time I move a clip bogs me down so much it's impractical to get any sorting done.
    I suspect this is a bug. I've upgraded to CS6.05, but that didn't fix it. Does anyone have a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Mike Boom

    A good suggestion. I did try that earlier, but alas, no luck.
    Sorting works across all bins in the Project panel, so once you sort on the Media File Path, drags are slow from all bins, even if you segment into bins as small as two clips.
    Premiere is doing something bad with sorts after CS5.5. Looks like Adobe fell down on regression testing for the updated version. Then again, it's got to be hard to regression test as many features as Premiere has.

  • Print very slow

    lightroom4 works well,but when i go into print module everything gets very slow,was ok.The same applies when I go to print in CS5,windows 7,64 bit ,a fast computer.

    Hello , Welcome to the HP Community. I hope you have a pleasant experience here. I'd like to help you with the issue you are having with slow printing document when using the Google Cloud Print function with your HP LaserJet P1102w printer. When you tested the ePrint speed, did you print the same document you attempted to print when testing the Google Cloud Print? The reason I ask is that some larger PDF files may take longer to process at the ePrint and Cloud Print servers, which could be causing the delay. If you have already tested using the same document, I'd suggest making sure you have the most recent firmware update for the P1102w. You can download the firmware update utility here - HP LaserJet P1102w Firmware Update UtilityNOTE: You'll want to make sure that the printer is USB connected before running the update, any interruption during the update can cause serious issues with the printer. You can also try removing the printer from your Google Cloud Print account and re-adding it. Here are the steps to do so: Open the Google Chrome Browser on your computer.Make sure your Gmail account is logged in.Go to www.google.com/cloudprint.On the left hand side, select Printers.Click on your HP P1102w and select Delete at the top.On the left hand side, select Add a Cloud Ready Printer.Select HP from the list of manufacturers.Below the picture of the printer, under Setup Instructions, select the 2.Click here link.Type in your printer's ePrint e-mail address, and click Connect.Retry the print job using the Google Cloud Print service.Please respond to let me know if this worked for you.Have a great day.
