FW800 Cable barely seated in port

I have an issue with the FW800 port on my computer and wanted to see if anyone else has this issue before I take it in for AppleCare.
I recently bought an external bus powered HDD (Specifically the OWC On-The-Go http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MS8U7500GB16/)
From the first time using the drive, the cable supplied with the drive will not stay firmly seated in the FW800 port. It does, however, firmly seat to either port of the HDD. At first I chalked it up to a stiff cable as the slightest bump would cause immediate disconnect, even if the cable was only tweaked and not completely removed. I have since tried 3 other cables of varying stiffness/suppleness and each has the same problem. Even slightly moving the drive or the laptop will cause the drive to disconnect.
What's odd is that occasionally after such a disconnect the drive will still appear in finder only won't be accessible until the drive is ejected, physically removed and plugged back in. This is especially frustrating when trying to use Final Cut... needless to say I've learned to save every 30 seconds or less.
Anyone else have issues with loose ports and cables not firmly plugging into the FW ports?

I have the same enclosure, and mine plugs into my MBP's firewire port very securely. When I plug mine in, the entire black end of the cable goes in. If yours does not, I wonder if there is some sort of a problem with the firewire port itself? Possibly it is misaligned with the opening in the case or something like that. If so, possibly it can be adjusted at the genius bar.

Do you have gfxCardStatus installed? Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete". You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input.

When a 10/100 Fast Ethernet interface is enabled, one end of the link must perform media dependent interface (MDI) crossover (MDIX), so that the transmitter on one end of the data link is connected to the receiver on the other end of the data link (a crossover cable is typically used).
The Auto-MDIX feature eliminates the need for crossover cabling by performing an internal crossover when a straight cable is detected during the auto-negotiation phase.

Isn't it fun trying to do things without an ethernet cable direct to the computer.. Apple sell a usb to ethernet adapter cable fairly cheap.. makes life a lot easier having something to do hard connections.. or as hard as usb can manage.
Since you have to access the TC by wireless .. press and hold the reset button on the TC for about 10sec until front led flashes rapidly.. don't worry about the ethernet cable.. leave it disconnected.
Now click on the airport symbol and join another network. The TC should revert to its home name.. which will be a combo of Time Capsule and its MAC address. There is no wireless security and you can do the setup.

Yes, you can do this as you stated. In essence you will want to configure both routers for roaming network. Please check out the following Apple Support article that describes this type of network. Although this article uses two or more AirPorts, it can be done with just about any manufacturer's router.

Router connected to cable modem by Ethernet port cannot get IP address from DHCP.

I have an ethernet cable on Fa0/0 connecting my 1841 router to my cable modem. The issue is that the router cannot obtain an IP address via DHCP when I have the "ACL-OUTSIDE-IN" ACL applied inbound on the Fa0/0 interface. I tried to allow all BOOTP and BOOTPS traffic in my ACL, but still no luck. I really don't want to run the router without a simple ACL firewall and connect it to the internet. When I take off the ACL off of Fa0/0, the router is able to get an IP address via DHCP.

HDMI cable with Mosh MiniDisplay port

I got a Mosh mini display and a HDMI cable, and even though the image works fine. There is no sound.
I thought HDMI cable transmit sound.
Do I need another cable?
Is there a Mosh Mini display that plugs to both my sound and my Thunderbolt ports?

Go to System preferences>sounds>select the device that the hdmi cable is connected to.

Ethernet cable not detected by port

The ethernet cable of my laptop is not being detected by port. Also the network adapter settings is not showing lan/ ethernet. This problem arose all of a sudden. I did recovery but no help. I reintalled Realtek LAn all in one window adapter but it did not istall. It gives an error that realtek controller was not found. What should i do now?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP 15 b005DU Notebook and issues with the Ethernet connection. Here is a link to troubleshoot the Internet connections. The Ethernet cable should have a light flashing to show operation. Do you see the light on the cable?
Here is a document on Airplane mode.
If Airplane mode is on you cannot use your WiFi or Ethernet, so Airplane mode should off.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.

We have a Bretford iPad charging station (10 iPads, 30 Pin) when it's plugged into the iMac it charges and syncs all 10 iPads Just fine. We've since picked up 10 more iPads (lightening). This time we bought a Satechi 12 Port USB Hub with Power Adapter & 2 Control Switches (self powered) with wall current in an effort to save about $970 for another Bretford.
We have tried daisy chaining the Bretford and the Hub and get the Too much power error, We have tried plugging in 10 iPads with just the hub plugged in, works fine until we plug in the Bretford, then error msg appears. (both hub and charging station plugged directly into the iMac) We tried same setup with 10 on the charging station and with the hub plugged in began adding iPad to the self powered hub and get to 13 or 14 and then we get the error. Both devices are supposed to be self powered, both plugged into the wall power, both plugged into the iMac (not Daisy chained). Both Usb cords to the Bretford and the Satechi hub are in pristine condition. The 10 iPads in the Bretford are 30 pin and the Hub are the new Lightening connections. Lightening cables are the ones supplied new with the iPads.

Can't plug sync/charge cable into iPhone connector port

Somehow, some debris has found its way into the dock connector port on my iPhone. I think it may be a crumb from a bagel (now you know what I had for breakfast today). Anyway, before I realized this debris was in there, I attempted to plug in my connector cable but it wouldn't go in due to the debris. To make matters worse, I think that when I tried to plug in the cable, it only jammed it in further. I tried to get it out by gently tapping my iPhone against my hand and also blowing compressed air into the port with no success. I might be able to stick a pin or something similar in to get out the debris but I am afraid I might damage the contacts on the connector.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem? My iPhone needs to be charged so I need to get this fixed quickly.

I appreciate the word of caution although I had already thought of that.
Has anyone encountered a problem like this and have a solution? Is it safe to stick a tiny rigid object in there to get the obstruction out? If I head over to my local Apple store, would they be able to help me with this problem?

It sounds as though there may be debris in your iPhone's Lightning port. The steps below provide troubleshooting steps that may help.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge until your device turns on. This could take between 10 and 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue persists, please contact Apple Support.
