Fx 5200-VT128 personal cinema audio connector

Can anyone tell me if the white connector marked J8 on the card is an audio out connector. I would like to use this to connect to my motherboard cd-in connection.

Yes J8 Is for Audio Out. You connect it to the Audio in on  your mobo.

  • FX 5200 128 Personal Cinema - Drivers

Please forgive a novice`s question. I`m having problems getting the correct drivers.
The card is used in a PC with an ASUS A7V8X-X, Athlon XP2600, 512mb, CDRom, DVDRom, etc. with Win XP Pro. The present ver. 4.3.51 I`ve made two attempts downloading new drivers - the first was from MS Windows update (ver 5.2.1.6 I think) which resulted in nView Desktop Manager lockup. The second, using MSI live update, caused me to lose my IR Remote icon and the sound from live TV (WinDVR). I`m back where I started and it seems I must await a unique set of drivers for Personal Cinema before anything will work properly. I have no doubt It`s me - something I`ve done or have not done. Any help welcomed.

No thank you, Grand Poobah Global Monitor Glenn, who's icon is a Starfish! (You know they have the same size of brain as a Goldfish!)
I've just off-loaded the the piece of c*** my post referred to due to the same kind of drivers. I did this at a considerable financial loss and thought other subscribers to this forum should have the benifit of my experience. Something they are unlikely to get from a company lickspittal like yourself.  The thread may be two years old but I do not expect to have to replace an expensive vidoe card every two years any more than I would my car!

    ChasP,
if we had any idea what problem you were having with your VGA card, then we might be able to help you ???
as it appears you don't want any help and just want to cause trouble, you're not likely to be welcome around these parts for much longer
oh, and in case you haven't already read and observed the Forum Rules, you're probably not aware that none of the admins or mods are in anyway affiliated with MSI, and are just users like yourself

  • TV Viewing with FX 5200 Personal Cinema

    Hi all,
Please please help me! The Personal Cinema FX 5200-VT 128 doesn't work!
The drivers are the latest version but i don't receive any kind of Tv Channel!

It seems you are pleased with the current software! Then why you are posting so many threads with problems?

  • Personal cinema 5200 fx

i buy a personal cinema fx 5200 everything is ok exept when I capture in movie factory or an other software program there is an inconvenience for about 2or3 mmdownside of the capturescreen.I have the latest drivers

I have a MS 5200. I got great results after I started reading the http://www.doom9.org website. I have scrapped the programs that came with the card such as Ulead and WinDVR.  I now use the iuVCR recorder from IULABS at http://www.iulab.com and record AVI files using the Huffyuv codec. You can get it at http://neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/huffyuv.html and install it, the iuVCR will find it, then it's a matter of trial and error to get the right adjustments Then I take the TMPG decoder from http://www.tmpgenc.com/ and convert the AVI file to MPEG. One can get great results with this card, but trying to record and compress the video in one shot is the problem with this card, it's too much for a computer. It takes for example around 5 hours to compress a 2 hour film with TMPG. So it comes as no surprise that it doesn't work so well in it's natural state.

We need a little more info than that if you want anything remotely helpful from anyone here.
Take a look at some of the thread in here and notice the signature that most users have you can edit it in your profile information.
Then provide some info on what you did or the process in wich you installed the drivers and the utilities.
If you have a dual boot setup did you use the latest drivers for each OS?

  • Personal Cinema 5200 Sound Problem/DVD Question

    Hi,
    I'm running
    P4 3GHz Prescott
    1Gb RAM
Asus P4P800E-Deluxe with onboard realtek 5.1ch sound setup
    MSI 5200 Personal Cinema 128
    Two problems:
Firstly, I can get my normal 4 TV channels for the area I live in, however I only have sound on 3 of these channels. The other one has sound intermittently come on and off, I've tried re-tuning but that doesn't seem to make any difference (it seems strange that it's the channel with the best reception!!!)
Secondly, my motherboard came bundled with WinDVD 5, which unlike the Personal Cinema-bundled dvd player supports 5.1 sound...is there any way of getting the NVDVD/remote to open WinDVD instead of the bundled player?  When I try to change the player that the remote opens, it can only find its bundled player...do I have to re-install the Personal Cinema software everytime I install a new media program so that it can find it?
    Regards,
    Nic

One more thing if the movie is on Full Screen in Cinema Display and the MacBook screen is down and I lift the movie switches to the MacBook as it should d and I get this message:
The selected movie won't play on one of your connected display
This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).
Try moving the iTunes window to a different display. Make sure the entire window is on the supported display.
The same thing happens if it was palying in an iTunes Window or a Separate window.
Is this normal or another symptom of the problem with the sound and what may be causeing it?
    Thanks,
    David-Paul

I'm afraid there is no definitive answer to this problem. I have the same problems and the main protagonists MSI and nVidia couldn't give a   . This is a serious software problem and it looks like it will never be solved. I'm running the latest Personal Cinema driver v56.64, which does actually load the capture driver, but NVDVD, NVREMOTE etc, have to be loaded separately.

  • 5200 Personal Cinema MSI-8918 NEW SOFTWARE

    Hello folks,
it seems newer Personal Cinema (but not from MSI) and NVTV cards are coming with the new Forceware Multimedia Application instead of WinDVR and NVDVD.
Who knows what is MSI's and NVIDIA's politics for upgrading the users to the new software?
Because the old software SUCKS! Just two examples:
    - WinDVR deinterlaces during capture and makes a mess of your captured TV footage!!
    - NVRemote has that nvgpio bug and can't be customized.
Let's ask MSI to give us the new software! Do you agree with me?
    Thanks!

It seems you are pleased with the current software! Then why you are posting so many threads with problems?

    Please Help
I install new Nvidia drivers, and all works ok (exclude remote)

I not have any error messages when i start WinDVR
And i think that problem in drivers or in card(physical)
    Please Help !!!! S.O.S !!!!
    thanks

I`m no expert on this but I`ve had similar problems with my FX5200-128 Personal Cinema card which I have managed to solve. These have included TV picture without sound, unreliable TV capture and channel selection problems. It seems that to get good capture you must start off with a strong aerial signal for the card to work best. This is especially true if you experience poor channel lock.
If you have TV picture without sound then IMO this points to some conflict/incompatibility with video and audio on the PC. I started with simple onboard audio and only managed to get TV sound after adding a cheap SoundBlaster PCI card (make sure the onboard audio device is turned off in BIOS afterwards to avoid problems).
I also met a curious problem with TV Standard selection. I live in Greece and the TV Standard used here is PAL-B. The FX5200 setup insisted that this should be SECAM. This caused a lot of grief and the only way I`m able to get good capture is if I use nearby Turkey - which the settings happily accept as PAL-B. This is covered briefly in the User notes somewhere. So, depending where you are, you may have to log to some neighbouring country to achieve optimum capture.
    Hope some of this helps.

  • Personal Cinema and S-Video input

My Personal Cinema FX5200 set up works fine on TV-tuner and Composite Video, and I get good picture quality, and good sound using the Ulead Videostudio 7 software ( and Nero VisionExpress, too)....but when I use an S-Video lead from my VCR into the break-out block, I get black and white images only. I can live with capturing from the composite leads, but why doesn't the S-Video lead work? I have checked and double-checked all the settings, and have run out ogf ideas.
Is anybody else having this problem with S-Video input?
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might be missing something?
Any help much appreciated...I don't like these little problems beating me!

Ricardo this is not solution for you. Using S-Video cable can be used for video signal transfer only.
Do you want to have picture without sound. I don't think so.
I have made similar experiments and I have copied old VHS cassettes to my old Qosmio G30. Later I have converted recorded material and created DVDs.
My Qosmio G30 has antenna in port and I have connected my VHS recorder to this port and transferred video and audio signal. I have for example started video on VHS recorder and started Windows media centre and scanned all channels and on channel 33 I saw my recorded material that comes from connected VHS recorder.
I have tested recording with Qosmioplayer and MCE. Using both options I was able to use record option and have video material on HDD.
I am sure the same can be done with G40. Check it out.

  • MSI Personal Cinema FX5200 TV-OUT problem (overscan?)

    Hello!
I have a very annoying problem with my MSI Personal Cinema FX5200 graphics adapter / tv-card combo. I use it as a HTPC, record tv, play music and watch dvd and digital video. I use bsplayer to view digital video and it works fine.
But when I try to watch dvd's in full screen with my 16:9 32" Sony, I think the card overscans the image and big partitions from upper & lower screen are not displayed. This is especially annoyting, because I use subtitles. The lower line of the subtitles is 2/3 hidden when I view dvd in full screen on the tv, and I believe this is because the overscan "zooms" the view over-screen.
As said this problem does not exists with digital video (mpeg, avi or what ever), only with dvd-disks. I have tried three different dvd-player softwares, so the problem is not with the software. I have tried WinDVD, PowerDVD etc. The problems persists.
I can negate the problem by useing two displays, entering the screen settings in TFT desktop and using the - button to zoom the tv image into smaller - but you can imaginate this is very annoying. Even when I save the setting, it resets when I start viewing a new dvd and I have to zoom it again to fit into the viewable area of the television. When I am using the TV as single display I cannot even do this - because the "overscan" problem happens only when playing full-screen dvd (not on desktop or any other full-screen image).

MSI finally replied to my questions regarding this problem. Without answering the question directly here is what they have to say:
Thank you for contacting MSI Technical Support.
There is no need to install nvidia standard VGA driver (eg . 56.64 or 53.03) . Therefore, please try to reinstall OS, for Personal Cinema FX5200-VT128 driver, please refer to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/dr...ail.php?UID=459 for driver and patch and capture driver.
Thank you for supporting MSI product. Please feel free to let us know if you still have any further issues or inquiries.
    Best regards,
    MSI Technical Support
I'd already reinstalled my OS (WinXP Home sp1) and then reintalled Personal Cinema v2.25 from the MSI disc and the display driver from the second disc I got with the card, v45.33. This seems to have solved the problem for me. Not so far removed from what MSI are suggesting, so it seems that whichever way you go, you must reinstall your OS. That ain't so bad. It's reinstalling everything else which takes the time.
    Good luck to you all.

  • Personal Cinema TV5200-VTDF128 problem - no channels

I'm having a problem setting up the TV Tuner on two FX5200 Personal Cinema cards.  System specs are similar:
    System 1:
    =======
    Motherboard: MSI KT6V-LSR
    CPU: Athlon XP2500+
    RAM: Infineon 512MB PC3200 DDR
    HDD: 80GB Maxtor
    CDRW: MSI 52x32x52 CDRW
    FDD: Panasonic
Vid: MSI FX5200 Personal Cinema (TV5200-VTDF128)
    System 2:
    =======
    Motherboard: MSI KT6V-LSR
    CPU: Athlon XP2500+
    RAM: 2x Infineon 512MB PC3200 DDR
    HDD: 120GB Maxtor
    CDRW: MSI 52x32x52 CDRW
    FDD: Panasonic
Vid: MSI FX5200 Personal Cinema (TV5200-VTDF128)
All drivers have been updated to most recent versions from the MSI or NVIDIA sites, as appropriate.  BIOS for motherboards and video cards have been flashed to most recent versions.
    Problem:
    ======
When I start Media Center Deluxe II, I get no video (though I can hear audio).  If I do a channel scan, it slowly cycles through each channel number.  During this process, the screen stays black.  Afterwards, if I try to change channels, it tells me to do a scan first.
When I start MSIPVS, I get video and audio.  When I change channels, it shows the new channel number, but continues to show the original channel.  And when I do an AutoScan, it quickly rips through the whole channel list and leaves all channels marked invalid.  Changing the video input standard (NTSC_M, NTSC_M_J etc) has no effect.  Interestingly enough, the one channel it shows is not always the same.  At first it was showing channel 2, then it was showing 21.
I have tried various versions of the WDM drivers, both from MSI and NVIDIA.  I have tried the unified multimedia drivers from both sites, as well as the individual drivers (separate WDM and VGA).  I am still getting the same problem on both systems.  All Windows Updates have been done.  The one thing I haven't been able to update is MSIPVS itself, as I have not been able to find a download link for it.
If anyone has any ideas (or knows where I can download a newer version of MSIPVS) I'd appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance
    -Cameron

  • Sound channel problem with Personal Cinema FX500

    WinXP SP1
    MBoard : ASUS P4S533
     (CMI8738 on-board Audio)
    MSI Personal Cinema FX5200 MS-8918
The problem is that in the setup of WinDVD, the only audio source i can choose in WAVE,
but the sound output of the video tuner is on Line-In, of course.
Because of this problem, the remote affects the volume of WAVE, and has no effect on the Line-In channel. And, of course, when recording, the sound on the wave channel is recorded,
    so, no sound !
Any one encountered this problem ? I installed the drivers on the original CD.

After nearly 3 months, I came up with the answer myself:
I installed a new driver (639) for the CMI8738 on-board sound and now the "Line In" option appears in the WinDVR setup.

  • [GeForceFX] Configuring NV Remote (nvarem.exe) to open different programs in Personal Cinema

    Hi all,
We have an FX 5200 Personal Cinema card with the NVIDIA Remote Control and the NV remote software installed. Whilst this is OK, it is a little limiting. I wanted to change one of the assignments for the DVR software as we have updated WinDVR 2 to WinDVR 3.
I have trawled through the registry looking for entries that could relate to NV Remote or nvarem.exe but have come up with nothing.
Is there a way of hacking NV Remote to work with the programs I want, or is there other software that would work with the NVIDIA X10 remote control hardware?
On another note, is there better software the Intervideo’s WinDVR to view and record TV programs from the Personal Cinema card work with the NVIDIA remote?
    Swin

Also, does this version of personal cinema support teletext? I can't seem to get this via WinDVR 3 or find out any info form MSI.
