  • Continued 5900 Ulta Problems

    Ok,
I didn't hear much about my image quality problems, so I assume I must be pretty much alone in that issue.
However, I am starting to have other issues as well:
I have the setup listed below, and I have run into the following issue no matter what drivers I try (nVidia, MSI):
Whenever I switch video modes (resolution specifically), video out is turned off (i.e., picture disappears).  If I reboot the machine I get it back, but I get nothing until I do.
Has anyone ever run into this problem or know how to fix it?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bill

I should add that I have the following problem as well:
No games will run at all.  If I run them I get a message stating that there is not enough video memory (or the game just dies).
I don't know if it is useful or not, but here are my IRQ settings.  Do they look Ok?
    Any other thoughts?

  • Problem with new MSI GeForce FX 5900

Just bought a new MSI GeForce FX 590 TD-128.
I removed previous drivers and video card, installed the new video card and attached the power cable, and booted my machine.
When I boot the machine I get no picture....just a blinking cursor in the top left hand side of the screen.  I thought maybe it was a power supply issue (350W PSW), so I tried installing the video card in another machine with a 400W PSW.   I get the same darn blinking cursor    X(
Anyone have any ideas what causes this?  Do I have a defective card?

Are both those boards AGP 3.0 ??
I have a Soyo Dragon K7V Dragon+ and a ECS K7S5A.  The website for the Soyo board is:
    http://www.soyo.com.tw/products/proddesc.php?id=37
It mentions a Universal AGP Pro Slot and support for AGP 1X/2X/4X...but no mention of AGP 3.0.
    The ECS board is at:
    http://www.ecs.com.tw/products/pd_spec.asp?product_id=192
and only mentions AGP 4X support.
Does the FX 5900 only work on the newer motherboards maybe?

If it doesn't work on any board then it might be bad, but 350w and 400w don't mean much so it's also possible you have a power problem.
Both power supplies are made by Antec.  Seems unlikely that neither machine would even boot...but I've seen stranger things
    Ideas?

  • Problem with new 5900

    here's the full story;
i orderd a Gainward fx5900 128mb version off of newegg.com. got the card in, and upton first boot i had red lines through the screen, and it got worse trying to boot into windows.
i sent the card back on a RMA, they sent me another one, same problems, so i sent the card back again only this time to Gainward, they pretested and sent out another.
i get it back and i get the same problems again, here is what id does specificly.
when i first turn my comp on the dirst VGA bios screen is fine, than a the CPU POST screen i have white vertical stripes through the screen. the next screen that comes up before the windows spash screen is fine, the one that shows basic system info. than once the windows splash screen is up once again the white stripes appear. and i get a screen full of green/black squares when it tries to load into windows.
inside the BIOS screen is also no visual problems.
i have tried a GF4 mx440, and GF4 ti4600 on this motherboard and they both work perfectly.
my mainboArd is a MSI k72ng-ILSR (non delta)
    i have a 430watt Enermax PSU
i have tried unpluging power from all my HDD's and optical drives to make sure it isnt a power issue and nothing help;s, i also flashed to the very newist BIOS availble.
im pretty sure it's down to my mainboard, but it's a frustrationg problem because those other video cards work fine.
soo if anyone out there have any recomendaitions on how to possibly fix it, i would greatly appreciate any help.

Have you flashed to the latest bios? There are 2 updates that specifically address 5900 issues. Also, make sure you plug in the 4 pin power connector on the video card itself.

  • 5900-TD128 problem

    Hi everyone..
After some assistance with a problem that my FX5900 is causing with WinXP.
It will intermittently turn itself off causing the monitor to go blank and the monitor power light to flash.
Sometimes it will recover though often XP will be locked or the screen will be in low res mode.
I’ve tried various Nvidia drivers (currently 53.03) but nothing seems to be rectifying the problem.
Any ideas on how I can fix this very annoying problem?

Here is the conflicts/Sharing window from the System Information application.
The only IRQs that the video card is sharing is the USB controller.  The sound card is on IRQ 17.
Could the sharing with the USB controller be causing the problem?

  • XT 5900 and problems with Photoshop

Has anyone with an nVidia card had any problems working with the Photoshop program?   I recently purchased the XT5900 VTD 128 card and have been attempting to calibrate my LCD monitor to use the Photoshop program optimally.  The monitor is to be adjusted for black/gray and color gamma numbers that will allow one to work with and adjust digital photos that will closely correspond to final printed product.  The Adobe Gamma utility simply does not work on my LCD monitor.  I have talked with support at Envision (monitor) and MSI about problem with little success.  Perhaps someone out there has encountered similar difficulties and has some suggestions/solutions.  Thanks.
       LJ Brown

Friend I have the opposite experience.  Working on my LCD monitor (and perhaps that is part of the problem) the great picture I produce on my monitor is not reflected in the printed product.  Colors are washed out a little, contrast not correct despite perfect on the monitor.  Have been working with others about this problem trying to decide if it's the monitor, the video card, etc.  The printer (Canon) is properly setup, all heads are in alignment, etc.   I also have Photoshop CS.  Have tried to calibrate the monitor with the Adobe Gamma utitlity so this problem would not occur but the calibration is poor, the black/white and color target and gamma screens just don't end up the way Adobe says they should and I presume therefore is why the printed product is less than desirable.  If you have any suggestions please pass them along.  Will be away for a week and will pick up the thread then.

  • Direct 3d problem with my Geforce FX 5900

It won't run any 3d applications and leaves my $3000 computer with the only purpose of complaining on online forums.
I've tried with the original drivers
I've tried with the updated drivers (45.23)
    Here are my system specs:
    Pentium 3.0Ghz w/ 800Mhz bus
    D865PERL Motherboard
    512 PC-3200 Kingston Hyper x RAM
    Audigy 2
    420w power supply
and the MSI Geforce FX 5900 VTD-128

I uninstalled my old nVidia drivers under Control Panel/ Add/Remove Programs...then I ran Driver Cleaner to clean all old drivers off of my system *see the sticky post at the top of the forum page here*...then I turned of the puter took the old card out, put the new card in, started the puter and installed the latest driver from nVidia's website. Worked like a charm!
Yes and a neat little story behind this mouse....
I bought it cause it was awesome I thought, got home, hooked it up, charged it for a night, used it for a week and then it died...so I figured out that the charger wouldn't charge the batteries from the base so I went and bought a separate charger and a few sets of NIMH batteries. Used it for about a month that way then tried to take it back one day to Best Buy where I bought it from. Yea Best Buy alright heheheheh They told me that I hadn't bought the extended warranty for the device and now I'd have to go back to the mfg to get it replaced...so I called Logitech. Got Tech Support on the phone and the guy made me jump thru hoops and stand on my head and all that fun stuff that we do to try to make it work. Then he said well what's your address? I gave it to him. He said you'll have it in a day or two. I said Have what? He says A whole new mouse. I get this puzzled look on my face...I say So should I ship this back when I get the new one? He say Nah keep the old one and enjoy. So now I have the working charging base that has one of the mice in it charging while I use the other one until the red light flashes to tell me it needs to be charged. Then I just take the other one out of the cradle, put the dead one in, push the button on the base, push the button on the bottom of the charged mouse and voila! I'm back in business. And I can do it even if I'm in a game and it doesn't crash my game!! How's that for a success story when all you usually hear here is negative? heheheheh

  • GeForce FX 5900 drivers causing mouse problems

This is a very strange problem, sometimes my mouse cursor seems to stop moving, but I can still move the mouse aorund and click on things if when I see where it highlights them.  This happens with 3 different mice all the same result 2 the same manufacturer and 1 different it also doens't matter what drivers I use for both mouse and vid card.  I've tried MSI, Nvidia, and Omeaga drivers for the vid card, and tried stock windows, microsoft, and logitech drivers for the corresponding mice.  Now if I let it sit long enough like that it gives me a BSOD that states the problem resides in nv4_mini.sys.  does anyone know anyway around this or should I contact Nvidia directly?  Thanks in advance Ryan

Camaro Guy > Im using a ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard
I thought I may have been my PSU that was not powerfull enough (300W, I have 2 extra 80mm fans installed also) But after seeing that you use a 500W+ PSU, that cant be the problem.
Have you tryed using a older forceware driver ?
And btw, im refuseing to degrade my hw accel. in propeties, might as well have bought a Fx5200

  • Problem opening port 5900

    Hello,
I have been unable to open port 5900 on a WRT54 or on my current WRT150N router despite spending over 2 hours with tech support. If anyone thinks they can help me please reply.
    current config:
distributes fixed IP, 69.2.240.211, traffic to an internal network, 192.168.1.xxx
    port 22 open and forwarded
    port 80 open and forwarded
    port 5900 - nothing
Let me know if you need further details.
    Thanks - denis

Logically if you are able to open ports 22 and 80 your router should also be able to open 5900...If not you can just upgrade the Firmware on the router and retry...

  • 5900 Ultra Flickering Problems

There appears to be a growing concern by Nvidia to both NVIDIA and competitor’s cards which are experiencing similar problems that are described as "flickering, rolling lines or quivering in different forum posts. So much so that Nvidia has posted a sticky on Nvnews:
    http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showindex.php?s=&threadid=16032&pagenumber=1
It appears that it might be AGP related and that in order to fix the problem card manufacturers will have to re-modelled.
If this is so will we be able to return our cards to get the newer model which should be noise free, flicker free, etc......

A lot depends on your current hardware, that is the question you should be asking yourself when considering a VGA upgrade. (It's important to investigate compatability with your hardware)
Since you gave us nothing to go on, that's the best answer I could come up with.
PS mine works flawlessly so far. They seem to be having problems with the nForce delta boards running in 8x mode, but I am pretty confident it will be resolved eventually.
RAM timings and setting the BIOS AGP setting to 4x can cure some of the problems until such fixes are introduced. 8X is not really being utilized currently as the games on the market are not using that bandwidth yet, so it's no major loss.
You may also want to consider the fact that PCI express is coming soon and will change things around quite a bit, so if you already have a decent card like a ti4200 or a 4600 then you may want to consider trudging along for another year till PCI express comes along. It really boils down to what you are willing to spend atm.

  • 5900 Ultra Problems

Hi guys, hope someone can help, as I am fairly lost on this one. I've been pretty out of touch with graphics cards for sometime now, this, being an NBox FX5900 Ultra, is my first for a good 4-5 yrs.
I did a full uninstall of drivers for my old card, granted not with a cleaner utility(i was unaware they existed!), and then installed the card and the MSI drivers that came with it. Everything seemed fine, I was having plenty of fun playing about with all the new settings, and dual screen, and loving up the power on a variety of games, including the copy of Unreal II that came with the NBox package. When i came out of Unreal, there where some major graphics corruptions, mainly chronically wrong colours and distortions, and my machine hung. I rebooted and got nothing but a white mess instead of a windows desktop. I have not been able to move past this despite updates of ALL drivers, mobo, gfx, and just about anything else i can think of.
There is also another much more disturbing problem, a sequence of pairs of wrong colour lines on the screen, at regular intervals running vertically, right from the BIOS boot.
I have tried installing the card on a completely fresh install of win2k on my old machine, a 700MHz Duron with 128Mb of SDRam, an obv weak machine but still should be able to handle the card. I have met exactly the same results once any drivers, MSI or nVidia, are installed.
I am thinking this is probably a hardware fault now, but i dont understand at all how it was working originally and is now screwed up. Any help anyone could offer would be MUCH appreciated. cheers guys.
    Si

I think you diagnosed the problem your self, by installing it in a second rig
and it does the exact same thing, I would RMA that bad boy, ASAP!
Why it worked in the beginning and doesn’t work now, that’s a good
question, to many variables to consider!  Heat, voltage, amperage, faulty
    components, etc, etc.

  • 865PE NEO2 FIS2R memory problem

    I have this 865PE NEO2 FIS2R with a 3ghz northwood (512K cache, 800 fsb).
initially I bought a 1GB Geil PC3500 DDR dual channel kit. installed those into slot 1 and 3, installed windows...during install I would get blue screens. recently I bought a new PC-3700 DDR dual channel kit (industry standard generic stuff). I bought those cause the place I got it from claimed it works on the i875 NEO FIS2R. I figured if it works on the 875P, it should work on the 865PE. with the new memory I get blue screens a tad more often.
I tried both geil sticks again this time as single channel in slots 1 and 2 (Ch. A). I still got blue screens. I did the same with the new PC-3700 RAM, blue screens with that too.
I took those sticks out, and tried 1 Geil PC-3500 stick in slot 1, no blue screens.
Whats the deal here? shouldn't dual channel memory work as dual channel in a dual channel board? WHy can't I use 2 sticks of the same RAM in this board!
is it just incompatiable with geil dual channel? If so what about the PC-3700 RAM I tried as dual. I am thinking about trying a set of OCZ dual channel RAM, but I feel I already got $400 worth of RAM I can't use, I don't really want to waste another $200 if this is just a crappy board.
I'm thinking of just getting the new Asus with the SiS 655TX chipset, supposed to be faster anyway. 2 sticks of RAM would most likely work in that board.
I really don't want to spend anymore money on this though...I spent enough.
    the specs:
    P4 3ghz northwood
    865PE NEO2 FIS2R (with updated 2.3 bios)
    Chieftech 650 watt Power supply 36A, 36A, & 32A
BFG geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256MB (also tried an old geforce 2 mx 32MB)
memory tried: 1GB geil PC-3500 dual channel kit & 1GB generic dual channel kit
    3com Network interface card
    WD 120GB SE hard drive
    Plextor 8X DVD-RW drive
    Lite on 16X DVDROM drive

This problem is not yet solved....
I tried increasing the ram voltage to 2.8v, it ran fine for about 3 days...then boom..restart
I am seeing other people are having the same problem with these 865/875 boards.
after raising the ram voltage didn't work I tried unplugging all of my extra hard drives 1 by 1 with the memory set to 2.7v.
I am at the point where I have only my boot drive connected with the two DVD drives.
But I am still thinking its my power supply...that power supply caculator page says I need a 519 watt PS?? I have a true550 which is only 530 watt max.
If I do need to add 20% to the power calculated, I would need a 622 watt PS???
I am running speedfan now....how low is the voltages ok to drop to?
the +12 dropped to 11.19, max is 11.80
the rest of the voltages are staying more or less constant .
Oh yea, on occasion the nb fan stops, I get a warning in corecenter saying 0 RPMs.
Also I can't set the fans to high speed, 6000RPM for the nb, and 5000RPM for the CPU.
If I set corecenter to user, and move the slide up to 8, the max is only 3375RPM for the CPU and 3750RPM for the NB fan.
Also every once in awhile the power LED on my case will go out while the system is running.
But thats been doing that for awhile now!
I'm thinking I will connect up my other hard drives again and run this speed fan program again.
    update:
I reconnected my drives, ran speed fan, noticed it stops responding after 10 min...I get an error saying smbus cannot be scanned...or something like that.
Also I've got errors when downloading saying I have no ports available. it sounds like the bus is shutting down??
This is not the only MSI 865PE NEO2 FIS2R I have ran into problems with
it looks like I will be getting a new board next week....either an Asus or Abit.

  • Print to Epson EPL 5900 on Windows XP computer

I have a Epson EPL 5900 laser printer connected to a Windows XP Pro SP2 desktop via a usb cable. Note: This is not the EPL5900L.
I have been tyring to setup so that my Powerbook G4 OS X 10.4.5 can wirelessly print to that printer. So far I have had no problems setting up my small network and folder shares etc can be accessed between the XP and OS X computers.
However, I am unable to find the correct driver (or setup) so that I can print wirelessly from my Powerbook. I can print to the Epson EPL 5900 if I attach directly with a USB cable. Epson provides OS X and Windows drives for this printer.
I have also used this printer for printing on a Ubuntu/Slackware computer. Once again this was not through a network but just thourhg a USB cable.
There are linux PPD drivers provided by Epson as described in http://www.linuxprinting.org/
Now I am at the point where I try to go through
Printer Setup Utilities>Add Printer> …. Then there are no printer drivers that match my printer. The Generic driver does not work. I have tried both IP print and LPD print and I have tried the Windows Samba Printing protocol and typed smb://<IP address of computer>/<Name of shared printer> none of which worked.
Would a print server solve my problem or would I still need the drivers? My other alternative is to get this 3rd hand Lexmark Optra S 1650N which has an Ethernet connection, PS drivers and TCP/IP protocol.
Here is the details of the printer
    http://www.ciao.co.uk/Productinformation/LexmarkOptra_S_1650n_5381803
Not sure what this means but I assuming that I could just connect this printer to my router and I can print directly without drivers OR if there are compatiable dirvers then I can do more fancy printing tricks like duplex etc etc. . By using this printer then would it also mean that I would need to worry about drivers compatiability with new version of OSes for both XP and Mac?
This printer with two spare toner cartridges and duplexor and 128mb of RAM is 100 AUD. This I assume is the most economical way to solve my problem unless I can get a print server for that price or less.
    Any advice would be great
    Thanks
    Powerbook 12'' 1.5 gHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

OK i installed both these packages and then I went into Printer Utilities > Add > IPP printing > Windows networking > Selected my workgroup and printer and still it didn't work
I have added my Epson5900 PPD file in the PPD directory (can't remember which) and it appears under the Drive model option
    Any more tips?
Could anyone recommend a network enabled printer that is not pricey and useful for a home?
