FX 5900 Ultra 256mb

Hi,
I recently bought a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra 256mb OEM and i flashed the bios to a 5950 Leadtek bios. Its working fine, but im wondering where i can get a Vivo cable? I looked on ebay and newegg no one sells it seperately or does the Vivo function not work anymore because i flashed it with the 5950 Leadtek bios?
Thnx

Hi-
Welcome to Discussions!
The most powerful, current 4x AGP Mac graphics card is the ATI Radeon 9800 Mac Pro RoHS (128mb).
The 256mb version is no longer produced, but is occasionally found used, or as a flashed PC version.
The Geforce 5900 was never made in a Mac version.
There are equally, or more powerful, flashed graphics card options. The ATI 9800XT, the Geforce 6800, and the Geforce 7800 are available as, or can be converted to Mac compatible cards.
If you pursue a flashed card, do your research, and you could have very good results.

  • MSI GeForceFX 5900 Ultra 256mb N-box prob...

I recently acquired a new VGA, it’s a MSI NBOX nVidia GeForce FX5900 Ultra 256MB DDR2 8x AGP video card and I’m having some problems with it.  Before this card I had a GeForce 3 Ti 200.  I know the basics about motherboards but I don’t know them inside and out.  Basically I know the slots and such, but I don’t really know what board I own.  I believe it is a M810LR motherboard and I’m running an amd athlon 1.2 Ghz processor on it with 512 RAM with I believe 310 watt power supply.
Anyway that is my system I’m running on so onto the problem.  I installed the card into the AGP slot, and it fit nicely.  I powered on the PC and it worked, I saw all proper boot up screens, I got to windows ME and of course my desktop pixel quality and color was dumb down because I assume the question of new hardware.  I put in the driver CD and installed the driver that came with the VGA no problems with the installation, then of course it asked to restart and I allowed it to.  I saw all the correct boot up screens and when I got past the windows ME screen, my monitor went blank when it should have showed my desktop.  The monitor was acting like it was not receiving any signal; I checked the connection and it was good.  The monitor was acting like it wasn’t receiving anything so I restarted, and again the same problem.
I forced the system to start up in safe mode and it worked, but of course you cant get to a CD drive in safe mode and I want it to run outside of safe mode so I tried one more time in normal mode and the screen went blank again.  It was working before with the regular nVidia driver before I installed the MSI driver so I figured I would try that, so I took out the GeForce FX5900 ultra and put my old GeForce 3 Ti 200 back in my PC so I could see what I was doing.  Worked fine, so I reinstalled the nVidia driver turned off the PC and put the GeForce FX back in the PC, turned it on and saw all the proper boot up screens, got past the windows ME screen, got to my desktop, and 30 seconds later it freezes, I try it 4 more times and every time it ends up with 30-60 seconds of working fine then the freeze.
I heard great things about MSI products and I would just like mine to work properly.

Ive been dreading upgrading to win XP for a while now, to afraid that I will loose some games or info (like GTA 2).. but im ready and going to upgrade it in 4-5 days. Oh and dont worry if it dosent work, you'll hear from me

  • 5900 Ultra with only 128 mb DDR ?

    Hello people!
I just bought a nBox with a GeForce FX 5900 Ultra with 256 mb DDR. But after installing the latest driver (5214) provided by MSI, I've just discovered that my VGA Card has only 128 mb DDR. I found it strange because I don't know any Ultra version with 128 mb.
I'd like to have the help of yours to solve this problem. What can be the solution? A new BIOS version? (I don't find any in Live Update 3) A new diferent driver? Taking the Card back to the vendor?
Please people! Help me about this problem.
    Thank You All!

Tell me if I'm a mile off here by all means, but something weird happened with my system a couple of days ago.  The AGP card in my Sig until a couple of days ago was doing exactly as described above and was strangely reporting.....
Total Local Video Memory @ 256mb
Total Local Texture Memory @ 256mb....and then frustratingly....
    Total AGP Memory @ 128mb
.....Obviously it should have been reporting @ 256mb and I also thought I had a duff card too after trying a whole manner of the usual tricks to try and locate the source of the problem and sort it.  I know it's not the mentioned 5900 too, but it did it all the same and depending on what Application you use to view that information as well,  then unless you had one that would report more detailed info like above, if merely using Control Panel for example, then it would report just the Total AGP of 128mg (clearly incorrectly so)).
Then, I brought the new Monitor also now in my Sig those couple of days ago and installed the Drivers for it, that's the only thing that has changed on my system for a while.....
I read this thread straight away with interest on seeing it after noticing my FX5600 doing the exact same, and on reaing these posts I went back to double check it again, and I have just found that mine is now correctly reporting at 256mb...HHHhhhMMmmmm.  Now it could well be coincidence, but it does seem that in my case either the Monitor itself or the improved Drivers specifically for it sorted it instantly strangely enough, maybe something to try, you just never know sometimes do you.  The old Monitor wasn't exactly crap either (that was a 17" Samsung Syncmaster 750s, which very soon I'll also be plugging that in too for a Dual Monitor capability and hope that on sodoing that the problem doesn't return either, but if it did I'd be able to tell you for certain too obviously)!!!
I'm wondering if the ONLY other thing that may have had an influence is I used the AGP Display "D.O.T" and set that up to the "Commander" Setting too??  As said, other than that NOTHING at all has been changed on my system for a fair while!!!
In all probability it won't, but maybe there's an outside chance that this occurence is relatedas the FX5600 and the 5900 aren't that disimilar or detached from one another when all is said and done either other than the blatantly obvious lol!!
I'm posting in hope that maybe it could be of use after reading your posts and otherwise hope that those concerned are sorted and rid of the issue in the near future too, good luck !!

  • MSI K7N2-IL 2M/B and MSI MS-StarForce GeForce FX 5900 Ultra

    Hi
I wonder if you could help me.
I am curious, the below is the spec of my machine.
AMD Athlon XP 3000 + 333 FSB CPU
    MSI K7N2-IL 2M/B
256 GEFORCE FX 5900 ULTRA GRAPHICS
though the graphics card is reported as MSI MS-StarForce GeForce FX 5900 Ultra [Nividia GeForce 5900 Ultra] in Windows control panel.
I am needing to learn more about exactly what is what in this PC.
I have installed MSI Live monitor and have upgraded to NVIDIA nForce System Drivers though my graphic driver is still reported as 4.4.0.3 or 43.51 [another question why are there two versions given to graphic drivers?]
As Live monitor doesn't report any further updates possible when there are newer Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia website - can I install these ?
Also I am looking for a utility to monitor, change fan speed and temperature, is the Nvidia  system utility ok to use?  It says that it's only compatible with
    nForce3 Pro
    nForce3
    nForce2
I'm not sure if I only have Nforce ?
I would really appreciate any help you may give - I know that the above probably sounds as if I'm as thick as 2 short planks.
    Thanks in advance
    ~ The Doctor.

    nVidia Drivers
you can get all your drivers there
    both board drivers and vga
you can use speedfan for temp

boards hardware does not support changing fan speeds though

  • Fx 5900 ultra flickering fix

    if you have the problem
    http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showindex.php?s=&postid=190078#post190078
NVIDIA was made aware of an issue involving the GeForce FX 5900 series of graphics cards where some users have reported a slight "flickering" of the image on their screen, visible on a light color background in certain 3D scenes.
In examining the information available, NVIDIA has determined that the issue may involve an interaction between select combinations of the graphics card, system, monitor, other electronic components and the application which creates noise or signal interference.
If you are experiencing this issue on a GeForce FX 5900 or GeForce FX 5900 Ultra card, you can download this driver fix (9.28 MB). It is available on our affiliate sites:
    http://www.3dgpu.com/modules/wfsect...hp?articleid=72
    http://www.bjorn3d.com/ubbthreads/s...sb=5&o=&fpart=1
    http://www.nvnews.net/files/drivers/nvidia/45.33_xp.zip
If you experience any other issues - please email us at [email protected]
Other web sites hosting these drivers include:
    http://www.3dchipset.com/drivers/of...ia/nt5/4533.php

O.K, I took a chance & Just installed em right over the Omega drivers and the flickering has stopped in games and it appears I still have the capabilities of the Omega drivers such as overclocking, AGP settings, artifacts testing, and Texture sharpening as well as performance/high performance/Quality settings for the Omega Drivers.
I haven't tested to see if these still work or not Yet- But I will & report back what I find.
The Flickering Has Stopped- Kudo's To Nvidia for the fix- Now, If I can just stop My Eyes from flickering I'll be all set =)
BTW, For anyone that is interested, These Omega Drivers are sanctioned By Nvidia so to speak (They've given the developpers permission & Blessings I guess to modify the drivers for performance as well as Quality optimizations)
My 3dmark 2003 score went from 4913 with the 45.23 drivers from Nvidia to 5122 with these Omega drivers installed under the performance  installation (There are 2 installations, one for Quality and one for  performance-I chose performance)
The good thing about these drivers is You just instal directly over the Nvida drivers- No worries-it tells You right in the help file to do this-So no leangthy uninstals and clean reinstals are necessary =)
With these drivers, You get an overclock setting (Which is nice because it has a utility built right in to test Your new settings on the fly) and You get a new agp settings GUI too- check em out, they are nice drivers for sure.

  • PSU sutiable for a MSI FX5900 Ultra 256MB?

    Guys,
Is this PSU sutiable for a MSI FX5900 Ultra 256MB?
It's a 520W HiperPower PSU Quiet Triple Fan (Active Fan Control) Active PFC.
Sorry Wonkanoby and Deathstalker I just cant afford a Antec or Enermax at the moment, but this PSU does not look so bad?
Click this link to see PSU power details

You just have to dig a bit further into that link...(albeit for a 350)
From the numbers and the reviews, looks half decent. Only thing that catches the eye is the rather low max amps on the +3.3 in light of the overall TCO. (Should be a problem only if you have gobs of memory and things powered via the USB.)

  • 45.23's Resolved SBA Issue on MSI 5900 Ultra

Couldn't enable SBA on MSI 5900 Ultra with 45.20 drivers. Fast Writes was ok. 45.23's resolved issue allows me to select, but have to reset after each reboot.

The motherboard chipset drivers (excluding those for the onboard LAN and audio) were installed before the nVidia drivers.
I re-installed the operating system (item 3 in my first post).
    P.S.
Just used Driver Cleaner and tried again but still no joy.

  • What are the "Official" Temps for GFX 5900 Ultra

I have the GFX 5900 Ultra with an average idle temp of between 35-38 Celcius.
Using RivaTuners background monitor, I found that I was getting VERY inacurate ratings when I alt-tab'd to the monitor on the desktop.  Plus RivaTuner will let you monitor in the background and save it to an html file for later and accurate results.
I thought I was peaking around 58-60 degrees in games but the realtime logging of RivaTuner showed it maxing at 83 degrees at times.  I'm not getting BSOD or lockups, in fact it runs just fine.  And I can play BF1942,Halo and COD for 5-6 hrs each in a sitting and nothing bad has happened yet so I'm starting to think these temps are normal for a Video Card with such high speeds.
Being that my idle temp is so low, I'm not doubting the effeciency of my heatsink, fans and case cooling.
I would love to see other results using RivaTuners background monitor from other people posted here so please do so and help get some accurate temp ratings out there.

Thanks, I was being a bit anal, but just wanted to be sure.

  • MSI NBox 5900 Ultra wont work at 8x AGP

I recently bought a MSI 5900 Ultra 256 in the NBox package. I installed it and loaded the latest drivers and began playing DAOC. It was great for half an hour then it locked up. I also had an issue where my refresh rates were really bad and it was drawing like one frame every 10 seconds.
I rebooted the pc and turned off 8x agp. Botted it back up and played for the rest of the evening.
I just put in a new 500 watt PS with a 32A 12 v rating, so I would hope the PS isnt at fault. I also had recently cleaned all my nvidia drivers off the machine as I had installed an ATI 9600xt.
    Please help.
I already spent a week working on an XFX 5900 ultra that I ended up sending back, I dont want do that again. Also, I have noticed a number of other folks here who have had the same issue.

I have the latest bios and drivers on my pc. I am not too sure what the grease has to do with it not working in 8x mode. I am not real sure what the 3.3 and 5v Amps are actually. The image on the website is very blurry. I looked up a review and found this information:
    3.3v 28 A
    5v    30 A
    3.3v / 5.0v Combined Load - 200W
    3.3v / 5.0v / 12.0v Combined Load - 480W
    The review was found here:
    http://www.systemcooling.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1371
I am going to try a full whip and reload of my machine. If this doesn't work I guess I will return the card and go ATI from here on out.
Could this have something to do with the fact that the motherboard is an nvidia chipset? Do MSI mother boards have issues running nvidia FX cards?

  • Geforce FX 5900 Ultra (256) Ram DDR crash

recently my Geforce FX 5900 Ultra (256) Ram DDR has started crashing, i play a game tehn after a while the game freezes and i hear a loud screeching noise that almost deafens me through my headphones my omly option is to then turn off the pc as i can do anything with the computer :( i checked the tem pof the card just in windows normal operation and its 50 degrees celsius is this normal?

Actually that models isn't bad at 20A but a little light considering all the hardware you have, try going barebones without all the PCI cards and the fairy lights.
You didn't post your IRQ shares, and I'd hedge my bets the PCI cards are not in the best slots due to IRQ conflicts. It's a first I've seen of a crash like that but it would not surprise me if it is an IRQ conflict.
Again, remove all PCI devices and reboot a few times, USe the "Reset Configuration Data" setting in the BIOS after you remove each or both PCI cards at boot.
