FX-5900 vtd 128. High GPUtemp - Main Fan Failure

Need help. Got a quite new computer based on a ASUS A7N8X DL mb w. AMD +2600 MHz proc. and a MSI FX-5900 vtd128 videocard, 1Gb memory. I have the latest drivers and Bios from MSI. Everything has worked just exellent for 3 months and yesterday when I checked the GPUtemp it was near 80 deg C which normally is around 50 deg C. The main (big) GPUfan has stopped working!!! I have checked all mainsconnections and could'nt find any reasons to the failure.  Plzzz could anyone give me some help with this problem!!!!

Yes my VGAcard seems to have the appropriate supply of power. I just had it out and checked all connections and switched the frontside- & backsidefan connections (they are the from the same root) and remounted the card without any changes in status. Still the frontside (main) fan won't work.
Most annoying is that if I return the card to the shop where I bought it I will probably not be able to do any gameing during the coming weekends .
The thing is that the card is still working fine at 80 deg C and is far from highlevel temperature limit: 145 deg C!!!
Q: Do any of You ppl out there run VGAcard on higher corespeed etc. and have experience with higher VPU temerature but normal with a behavior - literally could it be dangerous running the card with only backsidefan in operation at temeperatures around 80 deg C?

  • Watch TV with 5200 VTD 128 - Coaxial to RCA ?

    Hello!!
I want to know if there is any option to use my video card fx 5200 VTD 128 to watch tv.  I want to know if there is a connector that converts Coaxial to RCA Inputs...because I receive the coaxial cable from my tv provider, but I have RCA inputs in my video card....so is there any option, or should I buy a TV Tuner card?
    Thanks!!!

hmmm.. AFAIK 'coaxial' is an adjective for a type of cable ~only~ (as in a coaxial cable), not a type of plug/socket standard.   Also, the card requires a composite video signal, while signal from an aerial is an RF signal.  The VTDR model can take an RF signal because it has an inbuild TV tuner.  But you can use any ol' VCR as a TV tuner.  Connect the cable from the aerial into the the Aerial-in (RF-in) on your VCR, and an RCA cable from the video-out on the VCR to the video-in on the card.

  • Help !! Need Bios For MSI GFFX 5900 VTD

I Need Original Bios For GFFX 5900 VTD !!
    Send To: [email protected]
    or leave post reply.

Seems like we'll have to wait for someone to tw33k the VGA BIOS for MSI's FX5900 series VGA card... Else I'll be stuck with my paperweights VGA cards now...
I want to see better results on my MSIs' FX5950U vs FX5900U vs FX5900 non-U... Till date, the best card I've o/c'ed is the FX5950U at 1.05GHz, FX5900U at 990MHz and FX5900 non-U at 950MHz...
Though it seems that the memory clock has the capability to o/c even more one after another but the 3D clock is still not more than 560MHz for all 3... and 3DMarks no big difference... Maybe due to my system's bottleneck problems also...

  • Internal TV Support FX5900 VTD-128

I have a MSI FX5900 VTD-128 and I am trying to figure out the TV support.
What is meant by "Internal TV support"?
Does this enable a cable connection or aerial to be connected?
What does the channel control do if it does not?
    Iss additional hardware needed?
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but the manual says nothing.

Ive plugged a coax cable in from the Cable box.  so wheres the picture.  tell me what you have to do what programs etc..., Becuase the TV is grayed out in the media centre.

  • Does MSI fx5900 "SP"-VTD 128 support temperature monitoring?

    Hello everybody!!!
I really need someone's help here.I recently used the coolbits hack to overclock my card(MSI FX5900 SP-VTD 128).It runs fine after overclocking but the problem is that I can't monitor the cards temperature!!!
I used both the 3D Turbo Expirience and the registry hack to add those DWORD values that enable the thermal monitoring, but even after that I couldn't see the card's temperature!!!
Is there anyone who can give me a solution to this problem?I really don't want to damage my card by overheating it!!!

I have the same card as you the MSI FX5900SP 128VTD and it does have temp monitoring, i has used different drivers and my temp monitoring tab has always worked o.k, you may have damaged it already if you are excessivly O/C the card, i can only get mine to 465/812 before i start to see affects or lockups, so that may be the case, i am looking to flash my card though with a bios from a FX5900U to get the O/C that i want but i want to know if its been done first , i know you can do a FX5900U to a FX5950U so why not a FX5900SP(XT or SE) to a FX5900U?

    Hello astrobilia,
Let's start by checking your BIOS settings since you have already inspected the CPU Fan.
This HP troubleshooting article should help us
    Error: CPU Fan Failed
If you are unsure about the CPU Fan settings or you don't see the settings. Navigate through the menus and reset the settings to default.
After resetting the BIOS try booting the computer and monitor the results.
That is the easy fix before we start looking at having to replace parts.

  • "Fan Failure" and strange revving noise

    Hi everyone,
*I'm noticing some troubling stuff from my Dual 1.8 PowerPC G5:*
-Console is reporting "Fan Failure" literally every second.
-Persistent high/low revving noise (recording: http://mg.freeshell.org/g5sound.mp3).
-iStat Pro reporting 76rpm slot and 51rpm backside (temp range of 29-37 degrees celsius under load).
*So far, this is what I've done:*
-Tested with Apple Hardware Test and Tech Tool Pro. Both found no errors.
-Checked that all fans appear to be spinning.
-Insured red light on logic board isn't lit.
-Tried to pinpoint the source of noise. Hard to say, but sounds loudest by the dual processors.
    -Reset the PMU.
    -Reset the PRAM.
-Reset the NVRAM (via open firmware).
-Reinstalled OS X Leopard via erase/install; installed all updates.
    *More background info:*
A week before the "Fan Failure," I noticed a BIG drop in speed/performance. I installed more RAM by temporarily moving the front inlet fan and I also cleaned the inside of the machine with compressed air. After this, I noticed the machine lacked the normal revving sound on startup. I reseated the front inlet fan and startup sounded okay, but then the G5 proceeded to freak as described. I removed the new RAM, but problems still persist.
    *Any ideas? Please advise.*
    I'd really appreciate the help.

    Dear Afri,
The only thing I can think of is not a failing fan, but a failing logic board sending the wrong values to the fans (iStat reports the instructions passed on to the fans, the fans do not report back the actual speed).
Although the temperatures seem normal, 76 and 51 rpm for the mentioned fans is far to slow. The slot intake fan of my late 2005 G5 turns at 1500 rpm and the backside fan at 1000 rpm all the time.
Did you check the new RAM in the system profiler, because that also could be the cause of many problems.
I'm sorry I can't provide you with a definite solution.
    Success finding the problem,
    Robbert

  • MBP 13" unibody main-board failure after 1 year and 10 month. Apple does not care!!!

    Hi Apple Communites!
I have a big problem with my MacbookPro. I bought my MacbookPro in december 2010 in Thailand. 5 days ago My MacbookPro suddenly switched off and never start again.
So I sent it to Apple Dealer in Phuket, Thailand to check. Now they told me it is the main-board failure and i have to change it on my own cost.
And it is 26000 Thai baht (870 US Dollars). How comes that Apple do not take care for my cost.
My MacbookPro is not two years old. For this price i better buy a new PC notebook.
Can some of you please help me for a solution or answer? I use Apple almost 10 years and never have problem like this. Or Apple do not taking care of their customers or quality products anymore?  lertlid trzop

you are right!! but is this the quality product of Apple that lasts for just 1year and 10 months?
If it so then i think about to go back to PC after 10 years using Apple products and no one from Apple cares about customer service and quality.
Sad Story about Apple. What Steve Jobs and Tim Cook gonna think about this.

  • WSUS throwing 13002, "Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25 percent failure rate. This is not normal."

    Hello,
Within the past two months our WSUS Server started throwing error 13002, "Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25 percent failure rate.  This is not normal."  We currently have 252 computers with errors in WSUS,
and 33 updates with errors.  We have never had issues up until two months ago.  If you keep rebooting the machine, and keep running updates, they eventually all install.  I believe I will see the machines with errors go away as the weekly scheduled
WSUS install runs over and over, and the machines reboot.
    - We run IE8 in our environment and sometimes IE9.
    - We have 300 clients, all running Windows 7 SP1 x64.
    - Our WSUS server is running on Server 2008 R2.  The WSUS build number is 3.2.7600.262.
    - We created an alternate WSUS 4.0 server on Server 2012, and redownloaded all updates.  We put one client on it and it is showing errors on 3 updates, KB890830, KB931125, and KB2917500.
    - Clients are throwing errors 800F0902, 80242016, and 80070005.
    - I've noticed something with the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder on the clients.  When an update runs and fails, there is a "Install" folder created inside this folder.  If you try to open it after the failure you get
"Access Denied"  If you reboot the machine, the install folder goes away.  (I assume this is a temp folder created to run updates).  I've checked the permissions on this folder on various machines and all seems normal.  I think
this is the root of the problem, and why we need to keep rebooting to get all of the updates to run.
    - I tried deleting the Software Distribution folder on a client after stopping the update service, then restarting the update service.  The folder redownloads but the client still throws errors.
    - I've gone through our Group Policies looking for anything that can cause this and found nothing.  We've created a test OU blocking inheritance, and only applying a WSUS policy in it to make it get the updates internally.  I then rebuilt multiple
machines using Dell KACE, and still had failures.
    - We run SEP 11 and 12 on our clients.  I've tried removing the AV, making sure the firewall was off, etc.  It still throws errors.
    - I've spoken with our network team, and installed wireshark on a few clients looking for network errors and found nothing.
    - I've tried various Dell KACE scripted installs on test machines (erasing and rebuilding the machines from scratch), after which I run Windows Updates from WSUS.  They have thrown errors.
    - I've rebuilt a machine using Dell KACE, undomained it, then ran updates externally from WSUS going to Microsoft's site, and I'm still getting errors.
    - I've tried removing all software from the Dell KACE build to where it is just installing the OS and I'm still getting errors.
    - I tried taking a plain Windows 7 x64 DVD and installing that on a test machine, then without domaining it and without installing any other software, running updates from Microsofts update site.  This seems to work, althrough it does throw some errors
but I believe those are related to having to reboot your machine in order to complete the updates (I can't remember that error code at the moment).
Has anyone else been experiencing this?  Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

    Hi,
    Error 800f0902
Please try the method in this thread:
    Error
    Code: 800f0902
    Error 80242016
If you receive Windows Update error 80242016 while checking for updates, it might be caused by a connection interruption between your computer and the Windows Update servers.
    80070005
    Usually means access denied
Since it worked perfectly for a while, did you make any change on the server? Any applications new installed on clients?

  • Dv7 6014 fan failure message

Is there documentation on opening a dv7-6014 to replace the cooling fan please? We got the 'detected cooling fan failure - 90? - shutting down in 15secs' during a windows update. Its running now with an external fan on the vent.
Also have a dv7-5003, which has run hot, and  noisy fan all its life - temp now is under 20C ambient, and the left side of the body is almost too hot to keep a hand on it. The 6014 has vents at the rear left, but the 5003 does not...??? Documentation on opening this model please?

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 - Fan-Failure SNMP-Trap Issue

    Hello,
I am facing the following Prime Infrastructure (v2.1) issue:
    - A Fan-Failure SNMP-Trap from a Cisco 3650 switch doesn't appear on Prime, but a Link-Failure from the same switch does.
    - The both events appears on Prime with Syslog.
    - The command "snmp-server enable traps envmon fan shutdown supply temperature status" is set up.
    - The switch is in "Managed" state in PI, I have checked the ACL at the "snmp-server community" command, it is okay.
    - I have set up an SNMP-Trace for the switch on PI, but only "SNMP Null was returned for class com.cisco.server.managedobjects.bridge.Fan3KStats attribute fanIndex" arrived. Please find the log below.

It seems like PI and the switch doesn't understand each other concerning the fan...
Thanks for any ideas, comments and feedbacks,
    Csaba

I have the very same problem.
The switch has a power supply error (one of the two is down). There is the syslog message in PI about it, but no event has created, so nor alarm is there as well.
When I check the status of the switch in the Device Work Center, and choose the Environment in Device Details I can see that PI has not realized the power supply error.
However when I click on the Sync for this very device the power supply status is updated, but still no event or alarm.
This is the case with the FANs as well.

  • VRF VPN in AWS - Main Mode Failure

The configs are pretty straight forward:  http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/services_modules/vspa/configuration/guide/ivmsw_book/ivmvpna.html#wp1054133
Yet I'm having two issues.  With external peers I have a main mode failure on the peer who's tunnel was un-shut first.  The security groups permits ESP, UDP 500 and 4500.  When that didn't work I opened up UDP all the way.  I still had the issue.
Between internal peers in AWS my tunnel is up/down.  Both isakmp and IPsec SAs are established.  But I am unable to pass traffic.
any ideas will be greatly appreciated

    taburley,
One of the issues that I have encountered in the past is forgetting that if I am creating a tunnel externally the destination may be NAT'd by the AWS infrastructure.  What is the route that your tunnel has to take to be formed?  If it leaves through an IGW it is possible that you are NAT'd to a public address and the tunnel destination on the opposite side will need to point to that address instead of the 10.X.X.X address.  It may be something to check out.  Can you ping from 27A to 26B using the tunnel source and destination addresses?

Aloha all, my G5 started making a strange sound, sorta like whirrr, whirr, whirr, over and over non stop. Not loud, but definitely noticeable. I checked my logs and it shows "fan failure". My question is how do find out which fan has failed? Mahalo for any assistance. JB
