hi there, welcome to forum.
get Driver Cleaner(http://www.drivercleaner.net/download.php?site=2&file=DCProSetup_15.zip) and complete remove your currently VGA drivers.
then get and use those (77.77 Nvidia official, for your VGA) ---> http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_77.77.html
and install it.
Ensure mainboard chipset drivers is installed before proceed with VGA driver installation.
also give more details about your system, including PSU specification, read here---> Moan Guide
if problem persist, give more details about your "screen refreshing" problem. (screenshout, or more detailed explanation when and where that is happend).

  • Nvidia FX5200 capture problems. Success story

    Hi,
I had the problem that many other people had. The vivo functionality will not work when capturing with thes standard drivers. Blue screes, one frame, reseting...
I have gone trough most of this. Here is a solution that worked to me at first sight.
    I checked the link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=8dfd1b6d-e177-4a0e-91d0-b4310675b02b&displaylang=en ( thanks Deathstalker for pointing to this).
    Download the patch.
    Then I went to
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_20011119_6301.html
    And followed the instrcutions.
Everything worked fine at first try.
FYI..... if it can help anybody.

PD: My card was an FX5200 T ultra vivo 256MB

This f&%k&$#ing card hanged again.... it just takes more time...
No solution fo the problem. Disregard the message please.

  • FX5200 games problem

first of all, sorry for creating another "FX5200 problem" topic, but i've read the latest ones and im not sure they've got the same problem...
i've just bought a GeForce FX5200 T128. i installed the card and everything, and even downloaded the lastest driver from MSI's site (44.039x)... but most of my games are not even running (that's right they don't even start), apparently a rendering problem as it says on "TRON 2.0 DEMO" and "Morrowind"... and they were working just fine on my previous card (GF2 MX400)
    my system is a Athlon XP1700, ASUS A7S333, 256DDR266
    running windows 98 SE

Good that I found somebody who has a similar problem. You guys on this forum are really good and maybe my last hope.
I have an IWILL K266 mobo with AMD Athlon 1GHz
Processor with VIA chipset. I have the latest BIOS for
the motherboard. I have a couple of issues:
    1. Any 3D game does not run. It either exits silently after the intro video(Starfleet command) or with an error (Ghost Recon)or
with a popup note saying "Cannot open Display Mode"
(Trophy Demo), or does not even start (IL sturmovik demo).
    2. Old Game called Freespace-2 cannot find the
    accelerator card
    3. When I look at the MSI Information Tab under the
Display, I see that the AGP Enable box and AGP4x box is not set. If I try to
set them, it does not allow me to do this. My motherboard
supports AGP4x/2x and its BIOS is set to AGP4x.
    4. Setting the Motherboard BIOS to AGP2x does not
    help.
    5. dxdiag works fine except some MIDI audio test.
    6. I am appending the modified system info. that MSI Live generates. Note that it says the card is “Offline”!! What does this mean?
I have the latest BIOS for the mobo and DirectX9.0b driver and the latest Nvidia drivers provided via MSI Live Utility(MSI drivers don’t work either). The ONLY thing that I do not have is the latest VGA BIOS from MSI. But then, I don’t want to upgrade that until someone tells me that it will solve the problem.
I noted a long thread about a problem similar to mine but affecting the FX5900 cards. However, they have the same problem when running at AGP8X and it works if they move to AGP4X. I tried setting the mobo BIOS to AGP2x but it does not help.
I tried setting the “AGP Driving Value” in my BIOS to EA and E7(Default was DA) with no effect.
Based on another forum thread, I tried to find if there was a Registry entry named “4XAGP” but I could not find any such entry in my local registry.
Can someone please help me before I decide that this card is a pure POS and RMA it back to Amazon before 30 days are over.

  • GeForce FX5200 - big problem

Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.
    1. I can't even start my OS. It's the graphic card problem for sure, because when I'm changing it for any other card it works fine. Ok, so when my OS (XP) is loading, my monitor just turns off and the led is blinking. All what can I do is reset or turn of the computer. There was no fan on the vga when I bought it (2 years ago). It was working excellent. And now I can't even run my OS.
Does anyone of you know what's the problem ?
    2. Second problem - tvout. When I connect my tv, screen on tv is weird, I don't know how to describe it   but it looks like the colours are brightened. I can't do anything with it, I was trying some setup but nothing works. It was working good too, but it screwed up much more sooner then my first problem.  :D

you can try, use fail safe mode, pressing F8 when booting, then set to start in failsafe mode with vga, then if you can get in to windows then go to video properties and change the refresh frecuency to 60hz in any resolution and restart, if do not work do it again in fail safe mode (no vga mode) if the last thing you see is the windows logo with the loading bar then the problem is monitor out of refresh values, that turn of the monitor, another thing may be if you conect a tv like a monitor without your pc monitor, sometimes the main monitor is set to tv so when start windows the pc monitor turn off, if you can see something in your tv then you must change to "clone view" the multidisplay setting
ok mi english is not good too so i hope to help you in some way
true but that dont explain --> "I was able to start an OS, but in the game it crashed again."

  • FX5200 DDR128 stuck in 1X

A long time ago I sought help here for what I think is the same problem, but I cannot get to the solution the same way someone helped me before.
I just did a fresh install of win98 (I have nothing else) and followed the basic instructions found here:
    http://www.sudhian.com/showfaqs.cfm?fid=4&fcid-20
For the graphics portion, I installed AMD's agp driver, detonator 45.23, and directx9.0b. Since then, I have tried various versions of detonators and still am stuck in 1x. I also installed a previous version of the via 4-in-1 drivers (4.35) that allowed me to install the AGP vxd in turbo mode. At the moment, I am sitting at the following:
    Windows98SE
    ECS K7VTA3-RAID v3 motherboard
MSI FX5200 128MB DDR graphics card
    via 4-in-1 v 4.35
    directx 9.0b
I should mention that the result of whoever helped me before got me working in 2x or 4x, and "MSI Information" and "MSI Clock" I think were not displayed in the Display Properties dialog.
I'm fully willing to redo the install to get this working even in 2x. My bios should be set to allow for agp of 2x and maybe also 4x, as i changed it a while back. what other information should i post?
    Tucsontier

Ok, now I'll need you to totally un-installed your VGA drivers cleanly from your system and restart your system for a clean installation and everything should be ok then. Else you may need the VIA 4 in 1 detonators if your mobo's chipset is VIA.
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • FX5200 BIOS Problem

I recently used live update 3 to update all my old drivers and BIOS which includes my VGA bios. The updates went fine, no lockups or errors and I restarted as it asked. When I finished updating using Live VGA BIOS on my FX5200 TDR-128, I restarted and the problem began.
My computer displays the POST, checks the drives etc and then I get the windows XP boot screen. Before it proceeds beyond that point, the screen goes blank and the monitor self test comes on. The computer seems to continue to boot fine but no video.
I can walk through flashing the video BIOS manually since I can load a boot disk OS which I think may fix the problem, but if so I cannot for the life of me find a version of my VGA BIOS available for download. If anyone can provide me with a link for a FX5200 video BIOS or if you think you have another solution for the problem, your help would be greatly appreciated.
    My setup is as follows:
    Win XP Pro
    K7N2 Delta
    GeForce FX5200-TDR128

Hi, i know this message was posted a long while ago, but I think i've found myself with the same problem.
The only difference is that nothing at all appears on the screen from the moment I turn the computer on... I dont think windows boots as the trademark opnening tune does not come on. I am not even able to see post.
In terms of loading a boot disk OS, i dont think i can do this since i cant see anything... any ideas? ps i dont have any other graphics cards to test...

  • MSI FX5200 128MB problems

I've worked some more on my graphics card problems, and have fixed some of them. The current problem is that Ghost Recon, which I'm using to test the card (came in the box), is kind of funny. Character detail is nil. just a completely black body for all "characters." Al other setail in the game seems fine. Here's what I have now:
Running at 2x, in bios and in windows settings
    NVidia 43.03 detonator drivers
    Win98se
Ran Ghost Recon 1.2 first, installed 1.3 patch, same prob, installed 1.4 patch, some problem.
Can someone suggest if this is a game problem, a driver problem, or a system problem? This game worked fine on my old hercule MX geforce card.
    Thanks,
    Tucsontier

That's kind of difficult to diagnose, for one you are using 98SE and drivers are not that well supported and troublesome to get loaded properly for one. Plus I have no idea what hardware you have, the fact that it's running at 2X is a mystery to me since I don't know what make/model mobo you have, not to mention the power supply.
Then take into consideration how long it has been since your last format and re-install of the OS, the process in which it was done ie drivers loaded and removed PROPERLY and completely before loading new ones.
You could have remnants of the old drivers that can cause all kinds of problems. It's kind of like working on your car and then giving up and bringing it to a mechanic, he has no real idea of what was done prior to him getting it. So the mech. has to go through a logical step by step process of elimination. Often replacing parts/components that may not be needed, often at the customers expense.
So what I would do in that case if it was me?
Make sure I had an adequate power supply.
Try a similar model card to see if the one you now own is faulty, if the problem can be duplicated, then it is likely that the problem lies within the configuration of the machine's hardware/limitations or software/drivers.
If that is not possible then the following is my next step.
Make sure I had an adequate power supply.
Format and install the OS, preferably XP (Better Support)
    2000/XP: Load service packs,then drivers.
98SE: modem drivers then Windows update, then drivers.
If a format is too painful then try going to http://www.driverheaven.net and get the utility called Driver Cleaner and use it to uninstall the current driver set and re-install the 44.03's currently available from nVidia's site. Hope that helps.

  • MSI FX5200 - Direct3D problem

    I've just replaced my GeForce4 MX with a new MX5200 128.
Pretty dissapointing from what I've seen so far, but what's really getting on my nerves is that Direct 3D isn't working properly.
I can run some D3D games just fine, but the likes of UT2003 and GTA3:VC won't even start.
I've pulled all other expansion cards from my system, since there was an IRQ conflict with my network card, I'm running on bare bones.
I've run the direct3d tests in dxdiag.exe, the DX7 test works, so does the DX9 test, but the DX8 test is throwing up this error:
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)
UT is telling me to enable 3D3 in dxdiag, but I don't see an option for it, and besides - some other d3d games are working.
I've tried so many different detonator versions, I think I'm going mad.
I've also spent the last few hours reading through the first 40 pages of this forum, to no avail.
Any ideas before I return this card and get a refund?  ?(
    Athlon XP 1800
    VIA KT133A (running latest 4in1's)
    350W PSU

The D3D problem seems to have resolved itself... not working one minute - working the next, very weird... not even a reboot.
I've never spent 9 hours trying to get a GFX card installed before, but there's a first time for everything.
I did a few benchmarks earlier today, and sadly my GeForce4 MX 440 runs rings around my low end GeForce FX.
And I've read numerous reviews stating the same.
Granted I'm only running it at AGP4x.
But you'd expect it to out-perform it's predecessor wouldn't you?
Feeling pretty sore at nVidia at the moment, but let it be a lesson to read up on your card before you buy it.
    BRING BACK 3DFX!!!  :O

  • DVI problems wif FX5200

    Hi,
My Fx5200 does not output DVI. Anyone have suggestions as to what i can do to fix this problem

  • Problem with FX5200 Personal Cinema and DirectX 9 - serial reboots

I'm hoping someone here can help, because I'm pretty much at the end of my rope here.  Here are my system specs:
    HARDWARE
    ========
    Motherboard: MSI KT6V-LSR
    RAM: 2x 512MB Infineon PC3200 DDR
    CPU: Athlon XP2500+
Video: MSI FX5200 Personal Cinema 128MB
    HDD: Maxtor 160GB
    CDROM: MSI DVD/CDRW Combo
    SOFTWARE
    ========
    Windows XP Home SP1
    All available Windows Updates
    Norton SystemWorks 2003
    MSI bundled drivers and software
      MSIDVD
      MSI Personal Cinema
      MSI Live Update 3
The problem is, I get serial reboots (computer boots to desktop, then reboots within a few seconds) unless I start in safe mode, or use MSConfig to disable all startup items.  Enabling even a single startup item, no matter what it is (NVCPL, any of the Norton tasks, etc) results in serial reboots.
    Troubleshooting steps taken so far:
    =======================
Replace RAM - (single 512 or 2x512) no effect
Replace motherboard (same model) - no effect
Replace video card (same model) - no effect
Replace CPU (same model) - no effect
Replace power supply (w/ 450W) - no effect
Update all drivers, MBD BIOS, VGA BIOS, DVD/CDRW BIOS w/ Live Update 3 - no effect
Install Windows XP but don't install any Windows Updates - computer functions normally
Install DirectX 9.0b - serial reboots
Roll back to DirectX 8.1 - computer functions normally
Install DirectX 9.0a - serial reboots
Replace video card (GeForce MX440) - computer functions normally
Throughout this whole process, Windows XP was reinstalled clean about five times - just to be sure the issue wasn't caused by file corruption in the install.
Anyone have any suggestions?  Do I have to go with a different video card?  Or is there something obvious I've missed?

Try to put another video card on the computer.
Try the video card on another machine.
Try the lastest driver (there will be a new driver from http://www.nvidia.com tomorrow or may be a few days later).
    Try the lastest motherboard bios.
    Install the monitor driver.
    Install WinXP SP1

  • Problems in Capturing NTSC VHS With a PAL MSI nVidia Personal Cinimea FX5200

I live in Europe which as most of you know uses PAL format. Most European VHS machines will play NTSC VHS in a format caled PAL60. The FX5200 Personal Cinema card will only play a PAL60 format color NTSC VHS tape in black and white. Which means that in order to convert NTSC VHS to digital video, you have to have an NTSC VHS player in order to input a "pure" NTSC signal to the card.
Having purchased an NTSC video in the US on a visit there, I now encounter the problem that you see in the image I have posted here.
This was a oddly enough black and white film that I have captured but the effect is the same with a color film. The image will "blink" to a sort of negitive form of the image.
It only covers the left half of the image and this occurs regardless of which recording software I use. I tried deinterlacing but that didn't help either. It usually occurs at the start of a recorded VHS recording and flashes for only a second but it can persist through an entire VHS recording.
If I run the VHS directly into my TV set, which can play NTSC video, this doesn't occur. When I record, I use the iuVCR recording programand compress the avi files withTMPEGnc. But if I use the  software that came with the card, the samething happens.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

i am getting same problem but i only get this problem when i have tv out enabled  this is happenning in other programmes as well like nvdvd and power dvd . powere dvd is not recognissing graphics card in tv out mode when hardware accelaration is activated. i have tried all possible setting s and will not sort problem out. in standered 1 monier mode everything is fine no stuttering or picture problems. i think it is driver issue. :O

    Please Help !!!! S.O.S !!!!
    thanks

I`m no expert on this but I`ve had similar problems with my FX5200-128 Personal Cinema card which I have managed to solve. These have included TV picture without sound, unreliable TV capture and channel selection problems. It seems that to get good capture you must start off with a strong aerial signal for the card to work best. This is especially true if you experience poor channel lock.
If you have TV picture without sound then IMO this points to some conflict/incompatibility with video and audio on the PC. I started with simple onboard audio and only managed to get TV sound after adding a cheap SoundBlaster PCI card (make sure the onboard audio device is turned off in BIOS afterwards to avoid problems).
I also met a curious problem with TV Standard selection. I live in Greece and the TV Standard used here is PAL-B. The FX5200 setup insisted that this should be SECAM. This caused a lot of grief and the only way I`m able to get good capture is if I use nearby Turkey - which the settings happily accept as PAL-B. This is covered briefly in the User notes somewhere. So, depending where you are, you may have to log to some neighbouring country to achieve optimum capture.
    Hope some of this helps.
