FX5200 T128 and DVI Port :(

Dear Friends
I have a MSI GeForce FX5200 T128 (128MB) VGA card.
It has only D-Sub Port(DB 15-Pin) and a S-Video port and DO NOT HAVE A DVI Port :(
But in the manual its written that
"Support for dual-link DVI for compatibility with next-generation flat
panel displays with resolutions greater than 1600x1200 without
the need for reduced blanking"
So, now I'm planning to buy a new LCD/TFT monitor, to take advantage of digital picture through DVI input without converting from Digital->Analog->Digital. SO that I'll not loose any quality.
So Is it possible with my card ?
I think its not possible as it does not ve a DVI port.
Very bad product .................

Thank you all for your support.
But, it has been writen in the FX5200 T128 section/features.
So I thought .......
Anyway seems I ve done a bad investment  Any exchange offer from MSI for Asian customers  in future

  • FX-5200-T128 and DVI-I

    Hi all,
    I have a 5200 whithout a digital output and I´m interested in a TFT with DVI-I.
The manual of the card says that the card "supports" DVI-I. Can I buy a connector forn the card or something like that?
    Thanks,

Most flat panels accept standrad VGA plug. So your FX5200 T128 would work with them.  Buy a new card if you are interested in the "improved" quality with DV-I.  I have an FX5200-128TD, which comes with both VGA and DV-I connectors.  I have also an HP1903 panel which accepts both VGA and DV-I connectors. Picture quality is marginally better with DV-I. Both are excellent by the way.

  • HDMI and DVI port not working on 880GMA-E35

    Hello,
I want to use the HDMI port of my 880GMA-35, but the monitor is not getting a signal. I know that the board has two jumpers to switch between the DVI and the HDMI port. In the delivery state the jumper is set to HDMI, but I don't get a signal. There is also no signal, if I switch the jumper to the DVI pins. I have tested this setup which different cables (HDMI and DVI) and two different monitors.
After this test I get a guarantee replacement of the board. The new board is also not working with HDMI or DVI. The VGA port of the first board was working as supposed and I don't see any Bios settings to activate the monitor ports.
Are there any suggestions to solve my problem?
Thanks in advance and kindly regards
    Daniel

  • Is there a different type of DVI ports??

    Hi All,
My question is that I have a Radeon 9000 video card that supports dual display with ADC and DVI ports, I have a flat screen display to the ADC port and I want to use the DVI port to a television... Well, I got a DVI to S-video/composite adaptor by APPLE, now on the bag, it says for PowerMac G5 or Mac Mini.. I asked the guy at CompUSA and he said it should work as long as you have a DVI port, well, it didn't work, it flickers and when I go to the display pref it does nothing when I click on detect display... I checked the DVI on the adaptor and noticed the pins in the middle aren't there compare to the DVI to VGA adaptor I got with the video card, all the pins are there on it.. I also have a Radeon 7000 PCI card with VGA, DVI and TV out ports, so I attached the same adaptor to that DVI port and it sees it as Television on the display pref...
Now when I checked the DVI ports between the two, the 9000 one is black and the 7000 is white, are they different maybe??
Why is it that the 7000 works perfectly, but the 9000 won't???
    thanks..
    Johnny

Its possible that your OEM Radeon 9000 does not support Dual displays, or that the port is not working.

  • Connecting two Acer monitors with VGA and DVI output to my Macbook Pro (mid 2010)

    Hi All,
I need to connect 2 Acer monitors that have both VGA and DVI ports to my MacBook Pro.  What's the best way to do that?
    Thanks for your help!

hey! Thats normal for notebook! That actually happens to almost all of us - as there are a small fraction of people with two and more thunderbolt displays or with newest rMBP and external multi-monitor setup.

  • Mini-DVI port not working: wear and tear?

I had been happily using the mini-DVI port to play content on TV, using a DVI to Video adapter : plugging and unplugging probably twice a week.
Now it seems to have stopped, abruptly: no signal at all is reaching the TV. (Adapter still works fine on my MacBook.)
What are the chances of wear and tear damaging the DVI port? Is this a complicated fix? Any other thoughts? No recent upgrades or updates.
"About this Mac" reckons it's mirroring fine, so it feels like a hardware thing. Many thanks in advance.

    Hello ewfelton
It is very possible that the DVI port on the iMac has been damaged from wear and tear, as it's harder to get at than the MacBook.
I would disconnect everything from the iMac, grab a clean towel and turn it face down on the desk. Then with a magnifying glass and light inspect the DVI port for a broken or bent pin. In the process of inspecting the port your SMC will also be reset, follow the instruction for "How to reset the System Management Controller" when your done.
If the port seems OK and the SMC reset doesn't get it going use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Premissions and try it again.
Your local Apple Store or local Apple Service Provider can replace a bad or damaged DVI port.

Use a DVI to micro-DVI adapter if you're on an original MacBook Air, and a Mini DisplayPort adapter for a newer one.

  • How to use thunderbolt port with disks and DVI-display

    Hello,
today I use a 15" MacBookPro and have attached 1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine) and DVI-Display using Mini-port.
Need to add more external disk space and look for Lacie 2 TB with thunderbolt connection (for storing mass of pictures in Raid1 version)
Is it possible to connect the new disk, the other disk with an Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter and the DVI-Display to one thunderbolt port?
What are the options I have, to get all three to work at the same time?

No, or at least not without additional hardware. You have too many end-points for one Thunderbolt chain.
You also have the problem that the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter is not yet for sale.
If the new disk you get has two Thunderbolt ports (which not all do), you could daisy-chain the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter behind it, but that adapter has to be at the end of the chain. The Mini-port->DVI adapter likewise needs to be at the end of a chain.
So, you can probably get all three connected at one time by connecting the "1TB LaCie with FW800  (for time machine)" to your FW800 port, while connecting the Thunderbolt->FW800 adapter (when available) to the second port of the new disk. I say "probably" because nobody has the TB-FW adapter yet to try it.
As for doing it on one Thunderbolt port with additional hardware, you might look into third-party docking stations being released in the next few months. The announced prices are in the low-to-middle hundreds. I won't mention brand names, as this is an Apple forum, but they aren't too hard to find by web search.
The highest-priced solution would be the Apple Thunderbolt Display, which gives you a FW800 port for your 1TB drive, a pass-thru Thunderbolt port for your new disk, and of course a 2560x1440 display (plus ethernet and usb2 ports you may not need). It's available now, in the uppermost hundreds. There are some refurbs in the online Apple Store at the moment at 15% off.

Composite is analogue with one connector. That is why it is called composite
Component is analogue with three connections. I think one for each color
Here is the one for component. I misread composite for component

  • ATI HD5770 and 2008 Mac Pro - Only DVI Port works

I went through 4 ATI Radeon HD 2600 video cards since 2008. Enough is enough.  I bought a ATI HD5770 and i hope this is the end of it.
However, I have two monitors and I am unable to use the second monitor.
The main monitor is hooked into the DVIPort.  It is a 24" NEC.  The cable is a VGA to DVI.
I have another small 15" NEC monitor and I have a VGA to mini adapter into the mini port on the video card and it will not work.
I use both 10.5 and 10.8 on this machine and have no luck on either operating system.
When I plug into the mini port, the monitor in the DVI port tries to act as the second monitor yet the Mini port monitor will not turn on or activate.  To elaborate, the working monitor will switch from the startup monitor and display as if it were a 2nd screen.
    ideas?
    help?

yes. 'tis tricky. I'd say see if mirroring is turned on, but I suspect it is.  acorrding to apple, the monitor on the dvi port is fine. However, the 2nd one needs a mini displayport to VGA adapter. It ought  to be active, rather than passive. the DVI I'm presuming is a Dual link one?
apparently, there's a mini DP to vga adapter firmware update, found here:
About the Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter firmware update - Apple Support
so, maybe give that a try

  • Is there a way to connect my MacPro (with DVI and Display ports) to the new Thunderbolt display?

I'd like to connect these devices together.

As Kevin J. Doyle points out, the displays from NEC are better than what Apple has to offer for graphics. For video, you'll need a broadcast capable monitor for accurate color correction. Not a computer monitor.
The 24" model is under $1,000 and it include color calibration items. It has both DVI and Display Port connections. The base can be raised/lowered as well as tilted. (the Apple display does not)

They have other sizes and resoltuions as well.

  • 2 DVI monitors with G5 (1 ADC and 1 DVI port)

I have 2 Apple monitors with DVI connectors and a G5 with 1 DVI and 1 ADC port.
I have just bought a "DVI to ADC Adapter" but it looks backwards (for connecting an ADC monitor to a DVI port).
    What can I do?

    Hi-
You need an ADC to DVI adapter, like this. The description is very dated, but, this is what is needed to connect a DVI monitor to an ADC graphics port. This is another one.
So, you bought something like this?

  • Dvi port and optoma projector bad color

anyone know why i cant get the correct colors on my optoma ep716? im going from my dvi port converted with the dvi to vga adapter into the projector. the clors are all off. it works fine on a computer with regular vga out.
    kurt

A DVI connector really has two ports backing it. One is the DVI digital port and the other is analog, which can be accessed using a DVI to VGA adapter. Have you tried both? It would be unusual that both ports are blown out, unless the damage is further back up the graphics chain.
USB to video is possible but there are caveats to consider. For one, USB is a low bandwidth pipeline when compared with a typical graphics bus, so if you plan on watching 720p movies over the interface, forget it. Same with gaming and such. But if you just plan to use it for surfing, mail and other non-graphics intensive applications, then it can be a solution for you.
Another thing to consider is that USB video requires a driver be installed and maintained under OS X. By maintained I mean, if you keep doing OS updates, there is the risk the driver will need updating too. So you become dependent on the manufacturer maintaining an updated driver. Something to keep in mind.

  • I connected my apple tv2 to my dvi port and all I see is the apple logo

I connected my Apple TV2 to my dvi port on my HDTV and all I see is the apple logo on the screen. I keep pushing menu on the apple remote and i see a white led turn on and off but the apple logo continues to be the only thing on the screen. I expect to see a menu as the apple manual indicates should appear on the screen. What's it gonna take for the menu to appear and the product to operate as expected?

Use the search function here to look at DVI problems.  Even IF a HDMI --> DVI cable worked, there still won't be any sound.  Apple doesn't seem to want to make the ATV2 work with anything less than HDMI.  And it's pretty clear on their Apple store that the ONLY output is HDMI.  IF your HDTV has limited HDMI ports, you might want to thing about switching one of your other inputs.

  • Concerning FX5200 T128 with and without fans!

I have seen the MSI FX5200 T128 VGA card in two shapes: one with a heat sink, and another, a bigger one, with a fan or what's called Twin Flow.
Both of them are MSI GeForce FX5200 T128!
What is the difference between them?

One with bigger fan is overclocked and with temp sensor.
