FX5200-TD128LF on MSI Neo3-F ???

Does anybody know if the videocard MSI FX5200-TD128LF AGP works on MOBO MSI K8Neo3-F ??
The list of compatible card is in: http://www.msi.com.tw/html/products/mainboard/agr/7135agr.pdf, but this list is final?
The MSI part number of this VGA car is: MSI Part No: MS-8998-Z01

Slots as in Las Vegas Slots (a.k.a. Slot Machines).

A bit OT but since you brought it up, here in Nevada they are mostly IGT slots, I don't think PC's have them yet!!

  • FX5200-TD128LF at 1440x900 possible?

I am very interested in the FX5200-TD128LF board for a HTPC I'm building.   But, I have a viewsonic widescreen that runs best at 1440x900.   It's unclear to me if this board will run at this resolution.
Also, I see that the board is a half-height board, but the bracket at the end is the full size.  I need the half size bracket plate for the small form factor case I'm using.  If I can get the short bracket and run at 1440x900, this card is the winner.
    James

Well I don't see it listed as a possible resolution setting in the owner's manual.  That's why I ask.  It's not definitive.
Also, any idea on the short flange / bracket?

  • Jmicron on MSI NEO3-FR

need expert opinion. i am using the PATA connection for my 2 DVD writers. my question is do i still need to intall jmicron driver???

    Quote from: NovJoe
It is recommended to install the driver even if it is not in use.
    Why is it recommended?
This particular driver always installs twice on my machine with one of them resulting in a yellow exclamation mark that cannot be removed.
So I'd rather not install it as long as I don't need it (in fact I even disable the Micron controller in BIOS for now).

    Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W
    Bios Version: 1.A (Latest)
I'm really stuck on this one.
Basically the computer boots up fine when I have memory in Dimms 1 & 2, but it won't boot and keeps restarting over and over if I have memory in Dimms 3 & 4
    What works:
    1gb in Dimm 1
    1gb in Dimm 2
    1gb in Dimm 1 & 1gb in Dimm 2
    What doesn't work
    1gb in Dimm 3
    1gb in Dimm 4
    1gb in Dimm 1 & 1gb in Dimm 3
    1gb in Dimm 2 & 1gb in Dimm 4
    1gb in Dimm 3 & 1gb in Dimm 4
    1gb in Dimm 1 & 1gb in Dimm 2 & 1gb in Dimm 3
    1gb in Dimm 1 & 1gb in Dimm 2 & 1gb in Dimm 4
    1gb in Dimm 1 & 1gb in Dimm 2 & 1gb in Dimm 3 & 1gb in Dimm 4
Pretty much if I put anything in Dimms 3 or 4 ... it doesn't post and will keep restarting till no end...
So the most I can have right now for it to post is 2gb of ram and they need to be in Dimms 1 & 2 which means they aren't even in dual channel.
All 4 sticks of ram are tested and works fine in another system.
I've also tried various bios settings (disabling Spead Spectrum, Disabling enhanced memory, Various Cas settings, speed settings, and voltage settings) and same problem persists.
    Halp Please!
Edit: I tried putting in some new memory - Gskill DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 - 2GB stick and same problem.
Seems like my memory slots 3 & 4 are bad?

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.
I did get it to post in the end. Thank God.
The fix for me was to go into memory settings, then under advance memory settings change that from auto to manual. I did not change anything when all the extra settings came up, but either way it posted and I'm happy now to be able to have dual channel memory.

  • GF FX5200 Power Requirement + Details?

I am planning to get the following configuration:
    AthlonXP 2500+ Barton Core

    Gigabyte 7n400-L1 nForce 2 mobo
    2 x 256 MB PC 2700

    AOpen 56k modem
    AOpen Keyboard
    Logitech Optical Mouse
    2 x 80 mm case fan
300 Watt PSU (from a company called Newton?)
I want the MSI nVidia GF FX5200 TD-128 (MSI-8911) but when I calculated the power requirement here:
    http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
I got a calculation of 331 watt... so should I get at least a 350W PSU?
Also, what really bothers me is that the calculator states that the GF FX chipset requires 75 WATTS!! Higher than the Radeon 9700 and 9800!! Does anyone know if this is true for a FX5200??
I've been trying to find an alternative site for such information but so far I found none. No such information was available on the MSI website nor was it available on the manual that I've downloaded... I would have called tech support in the states but I live in Canada and the long distance fee is... well... not very cheap...
Also... (I know I am asking a lot) Can anyone tell me whether there is a fan on this graphic card and the software bundle that comes with it? (Some reviews said that this product has a fan but the image on the MSI site suggests none. Also, it seems that there is a conflict in the listed software package between the Taiwaness site and the North American site: One site said that Restore It and Virtual Drive was included while the other didn't)
Sorry for the long message... this is the first computer that I will build from scratch  :D
All your help will be greatly appreciated! )

  • Strange hdd capacity on 865PE Neo3

my friend just purchased msi neo3 865PE for his p4 660 LGA775. Everything run ok, but the system just can detect 130gb of his hdd (it is seagate 200gb). How to fix this? Everything is ok when using 865PE neo2.

What size is detected in the bios?

  • My last straw with MSI

I've just built a box using the following:
    MSI K8N NEO2-F bios v1.B
    athlon64 3000+
    512 ram
running on windows xp pro Sp2
Now to the problem( s ):
(1)Onboard LAN does not work out-of-the-box.
What I've tried to remedy this problem:
    -uninstalled the lan driver
    -disconnected LAN cable from router
-accessed the *hidden* feature in the bios (gotta give credit to msi on this one, very spiffy) and entered the mac address found on the printer port
    -plugged LAN cable back in
-entered the mac address in the driver object from device manager
rebooted, tried the internet - no go
    - tried "Repair connection" from windows - got "could not obtain an IP address, contact your admin or ISP"
(2)Mouse LED and tracking laser remain on after system shutdown
-happens to all mice i've tried
    -mouse is connected PS/2 port
-BIOS does not have "Wake on..." setting enabled
-does not occur if mouse is plugged into USB (I use my ps/2 port to leave the USB free for other devices)
-So far, found no information whatsoever on troubleshooting
(3)NB Fan revs to 5600 RPM on bootup
-goes back down to ~2000 after about a minute, or as soon as Core Center jumps to the rescue
    What I've thought of trying:
-unplugging - it is loud enough as it is, but is it safe for this board?
-replacing with a passive cooling solution
I don't want to overwhealm you folks, I understand that most of you have dedicated lots of time answering questions on these forums, and maybe others, but I have dedicated far too much time looking for answers, and yes I have combed these boards over and over.
Now If I can adress these 3 problems it's smooth sailing for this build, and for my future builds, I might even consider purchasing an MSI product again.

I just built my first computer last week, used the MSI Neo3-F mobo.
I have yet to get my lan recognized in Windows XP Pro.  Truthfully, I have not yet even trolled these boards to figure out why  I might be having a problem - I have mid-terms next week.    Yes, I did do the basic troubleshooting within XP, but after 45 minutes I tabled getting online with XP and turned my attention to phase 2 of the OS install on my new system - which was to load Ubuntu/Linux.
Tada - - I am writing this from my newly-built computer!
I installed Ubuntu Hoary-Hedgehog 5.04 Linux and it detected everything automatically the first time.  As soon as I made it to the desktop in the install process I was able to click on Firefox and get online.
It was just THAT easy!  Honestly!
Before assuming you have a MSI mobo problem on your hands, you might want to consider trying a different operating system - Linux is often used by PC builders for trouble-shooting purposes.
    Another case in point:
I dual-booted a Gateway computer with XP and Ubuntu a few months back.  This computer had a 15inch CRT
Gateway monitor from Gateway.  The monitor worked great from the get go in Ubuntu, but I had to go to the Gateway site (while using Ubuntu/Firefox to get online) and download the driver for this itty-bitty throw-away monitor to get it to work in XP.  I still don't understand why XP's generic driver didn't work with this monitor.  It doesn't make sense to me, but I was not able to get the computer out of "safe mode" while in XP until I downloaded and installed the CRT monitor driver from Gateway.
I have not read all the posts - I am just sharing my own experience for consideration.  If it doesn't apply to your scenario in any way - feel free to ignore me.
    Susan

and where is nvidia driver 175.19 (msi version) for msi vga cards
     NVIDIA >> 175.19 <<   WHQL-certified driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, and 9 series GPUs.
MSI doesn't show any 175.19 for any of their vid cards, closest is 175.16 (2008-07-21) and then only for 7xxx & 8xxx series.

  • 1680 x 1050 resolution support

    Hi,
I'm looking for MSI video cards that support my new monitor native resolution (ViewSonic 22" W DVI 1680 x 1050 WSXGA+).
Unfortunately is not obvious from the specs and other posted messages in the forum.
The card I was after is the MSI FX5200-TD128LF. It will be used in a Linux platform (centos 4.4). The hardware supports AGP 8x.
Any information will be very welcome,
    Thanks!

I just bought the MSI FX5200-TD128LF to use with a SCEPTRE X20WG (1680x1050).  I can get the card to use DSub at 1680, but when I connect using DVI, the max I can get is 1280x1024.  I tried updating to the latest drivers, but still no luck. :(  Guess I'll stick with poor quality DSub.

  • Has Anybody?.........

Well I was wondering if anyone body can get there MSI Media Center to work with MSI Tv@nywhere, and Fx5200 also from MSI. It seems Every thing I buy from MSI gives me trouble, and no one can ever find a solution to the problems. I bought the thing for the remote and to this day i got to use it for 0 hours. My tuner works with MSIPVS, but not the media center I just get an error repeatedly.
Any Suggestion, or Actually fixes for that matter.

    So helpful.

  • A little help with RAM please...

Okay, I'm just going to say - I'm noobing this up and can't figure out what to buy, or do, to get what I want.
I just picked up a cheap Intel Core Duo 2 E8200 for my office PC:
    MSI Neo3 P45 FR
(old CPU) Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180
    OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 2x1GB DDR2800 4-4-4-15 @ 2.1v (stock settings)
    http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_reaper_hpc_edition
Seagate 500GB 7200.12 SATA II HDD
    Radeon HD 4850 512MB
(that should be all the info needed for my problem.)
When I had the E2180, I ran the RAM fine at 800mhz in Dual Channel. I got a WEI of 5.0 for the CPU and 5.0 for the RAM. When I upgraded my processor, the processor runs at 1333FSB (333mhz) and my WEI jumped for the CPU 6.2 and 5.5 for the RAM. I'd like (if possible) to get this RAM to run a bit faster, or buy RAM that will match my CPU 1:1 if possible.
I read the stickie above about DDR2 1066 RAM and how some is OC'ed DDR2 800. I take it my RAM is OC'ed stock because of the 2.1v requirement. What RAM would you guys recommend to reach 1333mhz to match my CPU? And how can I determine for future reference what RAM would be able to match it since I saw they don't sell DDR2 1333?

    Hey guys, hey.
I've been away and sort of busy, but have tried some of the recommendations about using my RAM.
I ran into another wall. I guess my motherboard is designed for 1.8v RAM, I have 2.1v RAM. I can't seem to mess around with the timings or stuff without it BSODing, not posting, or not booting into Windows 7.
Is there any info on 2.1v RAM being used on a 1.8v motherboard? I wanted to upgrade the RAM, had a spare set of 2x1GB RAM, but I can't get it to post with more than 3 sticks, and I can't get windows to boot with more than 2 sticks. At this point it more of an experiment than raw performance.
    RAM:
Set 1 (currently in, working fine no issues, timings set manually, voltage set manually)
    OCZ 2x1GB DDR2 800 2.1v 4-4-4-15
Set 2 (just lying round, it use to BSOD me a lot, never figured out why, swapped it out, PC worked fine, RAM was used in another computer worked fine, timings/volts always set manually)
    Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 800 2.1v 4-4-4-12
Note: I tried this RAM by itself again, it posted, loaded up Windows, but I didn't try it long enough to see if it would BSOD me. Without settings set manually or all on auto, system wouldn't POST just endless on-off cycle.
    System:
    Windows 7 HP
    Intel E8200 - Stock
    Seagate 7200.12 500GB
MSI HD 4850 512mb (first revision)
    MSI P45 Neo3-FR r1.0 Bios 1.9
    Antec 12EPV TruPower 550 (33A @ single rail 12v)
    Onboard audio/LAN
    Lite-On SATA multi-drive
Like I said, at this point it is an experiment. With the economy I'd like to squeeze a little more juice if possible out of my Rig, if not it will have to wait till I can upgrade to a Lynnfield.

    Finally!
After hours and hours of searching a good software for tv@anywhere master, trying of new drivers (didn't work - only color noise) - I grabbed my original installation CD with ancient drivers (setupdrv.exe dated 22.5.2003!!!) and installed the FLY2000TV (30-day trial).
    Voila!!!!
Great picture on my 39 catv programmes, noise reduction, great deinterlacing, separate controls for each channel, etc. - perfect russian job!
MOREOVER - the FM radio works great too! (forget about that crappy MSI radio app.)
All of you folks crying for a great soft - erase your MSI PVS and go for FLY2000TV!
AND! your tiny cute remote control is supported as well! But also Winamp and system shut down (3-function) using MSIremote application written by a great man. Grab it! http://major.aspweb.cz/
