FX5600- DVI- 1600x1200?? Help :-(

Hi to all,
today i go to my computer dealer and buy a very expensive MSI FX5600 TD256MB Graphic card.
Normaly i don´t  need a fast Graphic card like this (i don´t play) , but i need a digital output that can display the resolution 1600x1200. But with dvi i can only set 1600x1024.  Can I set the Graphc card on dvi to 1600x1200?
Hope anyone can help me??
Or: What for a Graphic card i need again?
I used before a Matrox G450, that was very nice, but they have no DVI Output.
My LCD is a Acer FP2081.
Best greetings to the far world and a nice Year 2004!!

read this thread. it may be of assistance to you.

  • DVI-I, DVI-D, help please!

When I ordered my Macbook I ordered the mini-DVI to DVI adaptor, and perhaps naively thought it would just plug straight into my Xerox monitor with its DVI socket.
But no. The mini-DVI to DVI cable from Apple, so I've since found out, is a DVI-D dual link socket. My monitor has a DVI-I single link plug. There are different pins in different places, and to cut a long story short no amount of physical force is going to make the plugs connect.
What can I do? Is it possible to purchase an adaptor, and does anyone know of a UK retailer that would be suitable? I've had a look on Google, but no joy.
    Help would be gratefully received!
    Ed

Hi there, thanks for the reply, I've been posting this question on a couple of forums and you are the first person to offer a possible solution! - I can't give yoe a 'helpful' mark cos this is not my thread tho - I think I may have been a little vague with my description of my problem though, I have found out that this is what I need:

However, $40 seems an awful lot to pay (not including shipping from the US!) to fix a £15 adapter that should work anyway!

  • Graphics Card/DVI Input help...

    Hello,
Is someone could help me that would be great. I have a monitor that suppirts both VGA and DVI inputs. I want o use a DVI input but my computer only supports a VGA output, so I need a new graphics card. Could someone please recommend a good graphics card that would be compatible with my computer. My computer is a Gateway GT5674 with a AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 GHz, 3GB RAM and 32 Bit Operating system. Right mow it has a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce430 graphics card. Thanks

upgrade with the 8000 series graphics, your computer i think comes with a 300watt power supply so you shouldn't need to spend any more money. i think the highest you can go is 8600gt/gs for the best quality.
if you don't play games 8400 is enough. even for high definition viewing.
if you play games, go with 8600gt/gts.
if you play games and want to go with the best picture possible, go with the 8800gt/gts (if you can still find one) u can find those really cheap now and they're actually like the best graphics card you can get for the money.
if you don't have a budget limit, you can get the gtx260/280 and upgrade the power supply to 600 watt or more.

  • PPC Mac Mini (1.25GHz), KDS K-20MDWB flat panel, and DVI-D

I'm upgrading from an old CRT-based iMac G3/450 to a PowerPC Mac mini (1.25GHz) with a KDS widescreen LCD panel (Model #K-20MDWB) with DVI and analog inputs. The connecting cable is a DVI-D type at both ends, with no analog connections in it.
I would like to use the DVI output (without a VGA adapter) to run the KDS monitor. That's where the problem comes in. Although the analog VGA adapter works fine, I can't get anything beyond very distorted and incredibly jittery video (followed by the monitor giving up and reporting "no signal") from the DVI-D connection.
I know I've used DVI on this computer before, as it once had an Apple 30" Cinema Display attached to it. I also know that the DVI-D cable and the KDS monitor are working--substituting an Intel Core Duo based Mac mini resulted in perfect DVI-D video.
I have tried starting the machine up with the analog adapter attached, setting everything back to 640x480 at 60Hz refresh (settings that should work with any monitor) and zapping the PRAM to clear any incorrect information about the attached monitor. Nothing has worked, and I suspect that the video output on the computer is somehow broken or incompatible with the KDS monitor.
My question--is anyone successfully using a DVI-D connected monitor with their PowerPC Mac mini?

The original PPC minis certainly work with DVI-D cables and DVI displays (I have used 4 different cable/display combinations with my 1.25 mini so I know it works), but there have been a number of reports of specific displays that were simply not compatible and which produced a range of results from no video at all, to distorted video, or 'sparklies' or noise ribbons.
At one point there was a thread here (very long by the end) in which users were reporting which DVI displays worked and which did not, and other threads which discussed various potential causes or solutions. A search for 'DVI' might help (I'll try and dig up a link to the website where the DVI results were posted).
In short, it's not likely to be a fault with your mini, the cable or the display, just a lack of full compatibility, which might be resolvable using a display configuration utility such as SwitchResX or DisplayConfig X, or which might not be satisfactorily solvable.
ON EDIT: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=150291&tstart=550 is the link where DVI experiences were compiled, with the first post containing a link to the table of results indicating quite a number of incompatibilities.

  • Resolution jumps with Panasonic HDTV

Since buying my Mac mini in December 09 I've been using a Panasonic HDTV (TX-L37G15B) as my monitor. With the Mini DisplayPort-DVI adaptor and then a DVI-HDMI cable into the TV everything was set up in perfect HD. The Mac detected the TV and chose 1080p without needing to adjust anything.
Since the 2009 Aluminium Keyboard Firmware Update on 13/02/2010 my Mac will no longer hold it's resolution. Without warning it will jump to an alternate resolution but still show 1080p in the Display Settings.
I can change the resolution to another and back to 1080p and it will hold for a short time and then once again jumps/stretches to the wrong size. Overscan is turned off and I've tried setting the resolution in Safe Mode with little affect.
Would using the Mini DVI Port help matters?
    Any info would help, thanks,
    Chris

Try a couple of troubleshooting things.
Repair the Disk Permissions with Disk Utility in Apps/Utilities. Highlight your startup volume to the left and in the First Aid pane to the right press the Repair Permissions button.
Reset PRAM. Restart your Mac with a wired USB keyboard attached and immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys. After you hear a second startup chime release all of the keys and let the Mac start normally.

  • My Samsung monitor won't show image with G5??

HAD a 2004 G5 with the ADC (or ACD?) card and Apple Display and everything worked fine when using a VGA to DVI connector and connected my small Samsung monitor. I could do dual monitor. Now I sold the G5 and bought a late 2005 model with the normal DVI connections on the card and when I used the VGA to DVI connector, I get a black screen from the Samsung. Im lost as to why it would do this? I connected to a nice Samsung with DVI and it worked, but I don't understand why It wont work on my first Samsung via VGA to DVI? Help!

    thanks

  • New Monitor Showing Different Colors - Monitor Profile?

Hi All, in need of some help. I got a new Acer monitor and I am having three issues. The first is when I open photoshop I ger the following error: "Monitor Profile ACER S232HL appears to be defective. Please return your monitor calibration softwear." Then it gives me two choices, to either "Ignore Profile" or "Use Anyway". I've tried both and they both make the images appear differently. What do I do? Thinking about following directions I found here: http://virtualmcube.com/hardware/how-fix-monitor-profile-appears-be-defective-photoshop-er ror-message
Number 2 is that when I open the same file in PS, LR, online and in the picture viewier, the colors all look different! HELP!
Number 3 is that my images in LR seem way over saturated.
When I first plugged in the monitor I was using HDMI and I was told that would be the best. When I ran into the above trouble it was reccmended to me that I use the DVI. The DVI did help to get richer blacks, but didn't help anything else.
And just for a control group, I plugged my old monitor back in and everything is fine, but I'd like to use my new one! HELP! Thank you

Canned monitor profiles are notoriously inaccurate or outright defective. Unless you want to go all the way and calibrate/profile with a third-party package, you're probably much better off just using sRGB, and that's what happens when you click "Ignore Profile".
It's the same solution in the link you posted, only more convoluted.
Number 2 is that when I open the same file in PS, LR, online and in the picture viewier, the colors all look different! HELP!
Number 3 is that my images in LR seem way over saturated.
Come back if you still see this with sRGB as the profile. In general Ps and Lr are both fully color managed and will use the full monitor profile for display. Most other applications are not, so this is not entirely unexpected in itself.
When I ran into the above trouble it was reccmended to me that I use the DVI.
Shouldn't matter. The two are fully compatible and the digital video signal is the same.

  • Crt to mini

    hi,
I am looking at buying a mini with an eye dtt thing.
what would be the best way to conect to a loewe 100 htz crt
I can get a vga plug installed on the back if it is better.
Also would the digital tv come through like it would from a set top box on my TV or would it be poor quality.
I want to use the mini like a centre for recording tv, playing dvd, I tunes ect. is this the right thing to do.
    Many thanks

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVI should help.
I haven't used RCA/S-Video in a long time, but suppose you could get an adapter for that if you wanted. Apple has put together a nice page with all you need to know (and links to the adapter Apple sells for converting from a mini to RCA/S-Video if you prefer that)

  • MSI GeForce FX5600-TD 256Mb Tv-Out, DVI

    Hallo!
    I have a AND XP 2000+, 512 DDR 266,  MSI KT3-Ultra, MSI GeForce FX5600-TD 256Mb Tv-Out, DVI
and a 450W psu. Win XP Professional sp1
I have a problem with games and when i tested in 3dMark.
    It's score bad.
    3dMark2003: 2312
All drivers are up to date and i have tried to reinstall all components
Can Somebody help me Please? ;(

sorry but the only way you will improve your score is to lose the MSI FX6500. This is a renault 5 in ferrari clothing. It simply does not have the necessary fill rate to compete with even a Ti4200, trust me I spent 2 weeks trying to get it running to spec.
Basically only an Ultra or FX5900 will improve it.
Nvidia boobed on the design of the Graphics processor, the card can throw out frames well beyong a ti4200 capability but because it cant fill them quick enough it cant maintain the framerate.....still dont believe me ? Try thi, run 3d MARK, any version, in 640X480, youll notice that the score doesnt improve dramtically. 640X480 should mean more FPS but still no fill rate so it cant process any quicker.
I am well pi**ed of with my FX5600.

  • Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter is not working. Please Help...

I bought an Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter to connect my Macbook to a TV using normal video cable. When I connect the cable, my Laptop DIsplay gives a flickr once and then it shows nothing. I checked Display in the system preference where I don't get a secondary monitor option. My TV is panasonic and it's an old one. I work on Final Cut Pro and it's very very important to see my videos on a TV. What am I doing wrong with the connection? Anyone Please Please help...

Your probably not doing anything wrong. There are thousands of users with Similar issues and it seems to be with many different adapters.
We have Mini DP to VGA (3 different brands) and they all fail most of the time. This seems more prevalent with LCD Projectors. I've tested some (50+) with VGA Monitor (HP) and they all worked, LCD Projector (Epson, Hitachi, and Sanyo) and they all fail, DLP Projector (Sanyo) and one worked.
My Apple Mini DP to DVi works most of the time. My Mini DP to HDMI (Generic non Apple) works every time.
The general consensus is that Apple broke something in the OS around 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 and its not yet fixed. As we are a school we have logged a case with the EDU Support group so will see what happens.
