Fx5900 Xt-vtd128 S-vhs Vivo?

I think I want a FX5900 XT-VTD128. (I need VIVO)
BUT the description on the MSI site says:
   TV-out (S-Video connector)
   DVI Connector
   Video_in (Composite Video)
Does it have both composite and s-video inputs, or just composite only?
The VIVO dongle has both types for input as well as output,
but maybe it is a generic part and the above notice means the
s-video input does not work on this card?
Thanks
Steve

Thank you so much for your kind reply.
I've got a couple more questions:
1. Does the fan block PCI slot #1?
2. Is there a fan &/or heatsink on the back side of the card?
Tom's Hardware Guide says the "twin flow" fan on the back of the
MSI FX5900 TD128 interferes with installing in some MBs but this
looks ike a different fan.
Thanks, Steve

  • FX5900 XT-VTD128 versus FX5700-VTD256

    What is better....  FX5900 XT-VTD128 or FX5700-VTD256..
More Bandwidth in the FX5900 XT-VTD128 versus more memory in the FX5700-VTD256...

    The 5900, no contest.
more bandwidth, more fillrate, more shaders.
256MB doesn't give much of an advantage right now, and by the time it will both will be outdated so might as well take the one that gives you the better preofrmance right now.
You could also wait a bit and see what new cards nVidia roll out.

  • [GeForceFX] FX5900 XT-VTD128

    Hi
I'm trying to convert some of my old VHS tapes to DVD. I've downloaded MainConcept MPEG software, but I cannot see any video. Is there something in the card settings I must enable to make this work please?

Exactly at the link where Fabianzd send you, just click on "Multimedia Software", "WDM Driver", "GeForce FX" and then download the "VIVO" (Video In/Video Out) file and save it to your disk. Double click on it and follow instructions.
After that, you will be able to capture video from your card.
Once everything is done, if you can, I would like you to reply how it has gone for you... My card works but image is not centered in the capture screen and it is not the correct size either...
    Thanks !

  • FX5900 XT-VTD128 and FX5900-VTD128

    Hi,
I'm about to buy an FX5900, but I am confused by the two line of product FX5900 xt-VTD-128 and FX5900-VTD128
    What's the difference??
On MSI web page, I could not find anything.
Both product link to the same page...
    So what's the deal?
    Many thanks.

The 5900 XT has a chip clock of 300 Mhz and a memory clock of 700 Mhz.
The 5900 has a chip clock of 400 Mhz and a memory clock of 850 Mhz.
The rest of the card is the same.
There is a slight difference in performance. So if you want value go for the XT, but if you can aford a faster one you may not have an performance boost proportional to the difference in price.
To be sure see some benchmarks to decide.

  • Msi Fx5900 Sp-vtd128(ms-8929-060) Appearing As (ms-8937) At Msi Live Update 3.

    Hi everyone!
    I have recently purchased the Msi FX5900 SP-VTD 128 card."Model number MS-8929-060.
When I used the Live Update 3 program to check for updates for my videocard and motherboard, the programm identified my card as "MS-8937" and not "MS-8929"
After a quick and easy search I found out that the "MS-8937" model number is used to describe the MSI FX5900XT 128 and not the FX5900 SP-VTD 128 which is the card that I use.
Can anyone help me out here??!!Does anyone else have the same problem??

    Bill K.,
Forget Live Update and download the latest nVidia ForWare Drivers. Then go to your Windows Directory and delete the file msicpl.dll and see what those drivers say your card is.

  • MSI FX5900 128mb or 256mb

    Hi all
I have decided to buy a MSI FX5900 has anyone got the specs for the
    MSI FX5900-TD128 and the
MSI FX5900-VTD128 I need to know memory / clock core speeds etc. Not the ultra to expensive for what I can afford
I have found some info on the forum.
    FX5900 SP-VTD128
    VIVO, 400MHz core, 700MHz RAM
    The MSI FX5900-TD 128mb
    Product Specifications
    Graphics Core: 256-bit
    Memory Interface: 256-bit
    Memory Bandwidth: 27.2GB/sec.
    Fill Rate: 3.6 billion texels/sec.
    Vertices per Second: 338 million
    Memory Data Rate: 850MHz
    Pixels per Clock (peak): 8
    Textures per Pixel: 16
    RAMDACs: 400MHz
    FX5900-VTD128
    VIVO, 400MHz core, 850MHz RAM
My question is how much difference will 128mb of memory compared to 256mb be using the FX5900.  for games?
    Thanks

Thanks. I've done my homework on just about everything. I know 2gb of ram will be in it. I'll be getting the 160GB drive because of the speed limitations of the larger disk.
Mostly, I'm having trouble finding any real numbers showing differences between 128 and 256 vid memory with motion. It's good to know it wont make much of a difference with FCE by itself.
Does anyone have a link to any benchmarks pitting the two 15" models? Specifically, with motion.
Also, kind of on a similar note, but not related to final cut, does having the 256mb version place a significant impact on battery life?
    Thanks.

  • Difference between the Various FX5900's

Could someone pls tell me the difference between all of em since they all r 128MB's cards!!
    Thanks alot

FX 5900 TD128 and FX 5900 VTD 128 is at same
V means that the graphic card is VIVO support (VIDEO IN-OUT)
and FX 5900 xt has a new nvidia chip on it.

  • FX5900 core/mem frequency???

    Totally confused!
I received card that on the package box is FX-5900SP
On the side of the box package, sticker shows FX-5900-VTD128 (602-8929-060), 128MB ddr (2.8ns)
On graphic board is this: MSI model 8929 ver:1 00
Cooler is only on front side.
    Default frequencies are:
    Core: 300MHz
    Memory: 700MHz
Should it be 400/800 by default???
Can anyone, please, tell me what's the point.

What specically doesn't work?  Video Capture? Very few?  You need a program (like the one I posted above) that allows for Fullscreen Video display of the Input (Composite or S-Video).  The board is meant to capture and edit video, not be a TV Card.  Now if you know what you are doing and install the small app I listed above, then you CAN use your VIVO board as a TV Card by hooking up your Cable to your VCR, then the VCR to the VIVO.

    Hi all,
my problems are maybe very often.. but, I don't find any quality response ...
    1) In my nView mode I have still ONE display, but connected are ANALOG monitor and TV. i have not possibility of choice. If I select TV, my CRT monitor is shut down...and conversely.

    etc.

I have the same problem. I believe he knows that he can only change to TV or Monitor in NView but not in windows and not dual display. Why is 5700 VTD128 or 256 VIVO not compatible with windows XP. I check windows Video support compatibility and this model isn't their? Did MSI make a mistake? I've must say I'm a little dissapointed with MSI. I've bought many cards from MSI and untill now they were very good.

  • Thought welcome

    Hi all,
I know this is a silly question to be posted on a MSI forum, but what are your thought about the MSI FX5900 XT-VTD128  graphics card?  Will it make a good gaming card now and in the future (up to a year from now).  I will be possibly buying this on Friday (30/04/04) if I get enough info on this card.  I have been recommended to go with the 9800pro, but I have decided to stick with nVidia for this upgrade.  My Sig below shows the system it will be running in with one exception the KT6 Delta FISR will be replaced with a K7N2 Delta-ILSR.
    All input very welcome

  • MSi GF4 Ti4800 temp

    Hi there
Posted this in the MOBO forum, but got no reply, maybe because this is mainly a Graphics card question ! DOH !
Hope you guys can help !
As you can see in my sig, I have an MSI GF4 Ti4800 in a Neo875P PCB2 mobo. At the weekend I encountered a bit of a problem. After about 6 hours of use, with the CPU running at 100% most of the time (at 46 - 49 degrees) I started to get strange patterns scrolling vertically down the screen. I was unable to make out anything on the screen so I had to hit the reset button. When the machine had rebooted, I ran sppeedfan (v4.13) which reported the GF4 was reaching a temp of around 60 degrees ! When the temp got above 65 degrees I got the wierd patterns again.
This is the first time I've really had a long session since I installed this mobo. Everything else is quite cool - CPU (46-49 degs 100%), HD's (30-35 degs) and case (38 degs).
Is the fact that the North fan is right above the H/S on the GF card causing the card to over heat ? I've removed the fan that came with the card (I've have the card about 14 months or so) and replaced it with a Thermaltake cooper H/S and fan. This HAS made a difference, the temp has not risen above 60 degrees - but this is still really hot.
Is there anything else I can do ? Does the North bridge fan blow or suck ?
Is there much improvement (performace wise) to be had in upgrading to a FX5900 128mb card (MSI or Gainward Gold Sample) ? The MSI FX5900 XT-VTD128 has a fan at the back and front of the card, so I'm wondering if this will foul on the north bridge fan ? Anyone using one of these ?
    Thanks
    Fred

yea sound like a heat issue with ur ram
u will get grpahical gltches with ur ram such as white spots and also lines this is overheating id perchance a few heatsink for ur memory

Hi m8 i have a similar set up to yourself and found that my graphics card was bloody well hot!!!!
what i done was added a port blower to the left hand side of the graphics card (the fan side) and it fits like a glove without blocking the graphics card fan.
I was left with the problem of the rear heatsink hotting up!!!,,, the cure was to use a spare fan i had off a pentium 2 heatsink and i stuck it on with evostick and routed the 3 pin connector to the motherboard.
It is on solid and the card now runs cool,i did off set it so it blew directly onto the indentation of the heatsink where it contacts the gpu chip..... hope this helps m8...baz
