FXO - FXS PSTN emulation for testing lab

Hi netpros,
For testing purposes. I am wondering whether it is possible to simulate PSTN by connecting routers FX0<->FXS ports as per the diagram. I will be purchasing E1 cards in several weeks but for now I am trying to get PSTN emulation using what I have got. Also ..do I need to have FXO ports on the 'PSTN emulator' device as well or having FXS connected to the edges router's FXO will be fine? Do I need to use PLAR to redirect the incoming calls from PSTN to the destination analog phone ?
Your help is much appreciated !!!
NOTE: I have tried getting some help on the Training forum without any luck

Hi,
Yes It will work. But you have to give connection plar under FXO ports.

Howto setup a simple network in SCVMM 2012 R2 and HyperV for test-Lab /Private Cloud
I have domain controller on my laptop (i5 core 8gb) en one hyperV machine running also scvmm 2012 r2 on it. (i3 core 16gb)
both runung windows server 2012 r2 x64 on it.
I want to install a easy "Test Lab" for Scvmm 2012 r2 and hyper-V r2 for mine Private cloud exams. (70-246 & 70-247).
howto arrange networking and clustering for this mine network and cluster is 192.168.1.0/24.
    ThanX anyway!!

Also, I have tried to redeploy other test VM networks, VMs, and the PA Network itself and it still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

  • How do I set up an emulator for testing my application?

I'm starting to wade into GPIB and cannot seem to find the best way to continue given all the components (not meaning ActiveX) required to assemble a semi-reliable development and testing environment for beta rollouts.
I have set up my design environment. Now I need a way to emulate some of the equipment I will be developing for so that I may test my apps before final testing on the actual equipment (which I obviously have no access to at this point).
Given that.. am I correct in understanding that LabView or IVI allows this type of functionality? If so, here are my specific questions regarding development:
    1) Do I currently need any hardware or can the GPIB device list be populated from IVI/LabView emula
tors? In other words... how do I make the 'link' between these two technologies?
    2) Can IVI/LabView run on the same machine as my test application, or is a secondary machine required?
    3) Is there a general punch list of software (LabView, etc.) I might need in order to get this going?
    4) Any general (or specific) overviews that may help me get over this hump would be greatly appreciated.
    Charles

Whether or not you are able to simulate your hardware will depend on what method you are using to program it. If you are programming the instrumentation directly using the GPIB ActiveX control or GPIB calls directly you will not have the ability to do simulate in software. If you are using an instrument driver, however, you will be able to do simulation if the instrument driver is IVI compliant.
Assuming that you are using an IVI-compliant instrument driver, here are the answers to your questions:
    1. You do not need any hardware whatsoever. You can either specify to use simulation in your code by using the InitWithOptions functionality and specifying "SIMULATE=TRUE" in the option string parameter. You can also set things up externally so that you can alter simulation strictly through the IVI configuration so that your code doesn't have to change.
    2. It will run on the same machine as your code. As far as your application is concerned, it will not appear any differently however no GPIB communication will occur.
    3. IVI compliant instrument drivers for all of the GPIB hardware you are using. These are available for download from ni.com.
    4. I think that there may be some IVI-related application notes.
Assuming that you are not using an IVI-compliant instrument driver and instead are either using a non-IVI instrument driver or making GPIB calls directly, things can get a little more elaborate. If you want full emulation capability you'll need to write another piece of software that emulates your device. This can be done in LabVIEW or any other ADE of your choice. What you'll need is a second GPIB card (to act as your device) that you'll cable to from your main computer. That card can live in a second machine or in the same one as your main application. You may want to put it in a separate test machine just to keep things a little cleaner.
If you go with this approach, it's not too difficult to write an emulator for a single device (or at least that functionality of a device that you use) per GPIB card. It will be more difficult to write an emulator that emulates multiple devices using a single GPIB card. In other words, you may want to use a separate GPIB card for each instrument you want to emulate. I wrote such an emulator some time ago but can't seem to find it. In any case, it's probably only a couple of days effort.
To make a long story short, your life will be a lot easier if you have IVI-compliant instrument drivers available for the hardware that you are using.

  • Where To Download Base Configuration ISO(s) For Test Labs?

    Hi.
Is there somewhere that I can download an ISO for the base configuration for the Test Labs outlined here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1262.test-lab-guides.aspx#Base_Configuration_TLG
Or is it presumed that the reader of the Test Lab Guides will configure each machine themselves?  If so, why is this not communicated clearly in the Test Lab guides?

    Hi,
Test Lab Guides is to let you use less to learn a new technology, product or an entire multi-tier solution, TLG provides you with step-by-step instructions to create the Base Configuration test lab. You could build test labs based on other
TLGs from Microsoft and published in the TechNet Wiki, perform TLG extensions, or create a test lab of your own design that can include Microsoft or non-Microsoft products.

  • Standalone emulator for testing a MIDlet

What is the easiest way to test a MIDlet using a standalone emulator?
I am planning to send my application (.jar and .jad files) to some people to evaluate it, but they don't have much knowledge about computers and they surely don't have IDE's installed on their computers.
I need an emulator that is easy to install, no hard configurations needed and supports the Location API (JSR 179).

  • Equipment for building test lab

    Hello all,
I'm looking for a little input on the two options I'm weighing for building my virtual test lab. If at all possible, I would rather not have my daily PC running my virtual lab, but I leave that option open. I'm thinking of purchasing a Dell PowerEdge 2950 II
(from ebay), installing Windows Server 2008 R2, installing VM VirtualBox so that I can set up an Active Directory environment to prepare me for the MCITP exams. This option would allow me to conserve the resources of my daily PC. If I were to use my daily
PC (I7 quad, 3GB RAM, 80GB SSD, and 1TB storage with only 200GB of free space) I would more than likely have increase RAM and buy another HDD to store the VMs. How much more trouble would it be to go the PowerEdge 2950 II route?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
We recommend that you review the Windows Catalog to identify servers that are qualified for use with Hyper-V. You can identify systems that support the x64 architecture and
Hyper-V by searching the Windows Server catalog. Personal advice is you’d better to buy the 2950III
    it’s the newer product.

  • Licensing for a testing lab

    Hi,
I spent a bit of time wondering where to post this but I hope this is the right place.
I am putting together a plan to build a full lab test. We will be testing application configuration that run on several OS, including Windows servers.
We will virtualise the all environment and this will probably consist of something around 30 different servers.
I do not know what to do with licensing. I found
similar post  where I imagine my next step would be to contact the licensing folks, but does anyone knows the best way to get in contact with them?
    Thank you

    Hi
no. these will never be production machine. Their only for testing and troubleshooting purposes.
They will be only confined to the closed lab environment.
When looking at "Per Processor" licensing model one reads Note: Windows Server licensed under the Per Processor model requires CALs.
Now, I dont know if this is the case for physical servers only or if the hardware is not relevant.
    What about MSDN?

  • Home Lab for testing

Create them, as a network without internet first, then when you setup DHCP on your AD server, turn it off on your home router.
Configure DHCP to pass out the IP address of your DC(s) and your router as the gateway, do NOT use any external DNS such as Google, you will have issues.
Be sure to create a domain name that you own (e.g. Bobslab.com), if you create one that exists outside and it isn't yours, you'll have issues.
Get that setup and working and ask for more specific help as guiding you serves no purpose in learning
I would also scrap Windows 7 on the server and use ESXi or Hyper-V not the workstation varients

Personally, I'd dump the SSD for a lab setup, it really won't help you as a boot device for the host OS. I'd also dump Win7. It's workable with VMware, Virtualbox, or other type-2 hypervisors, but it will be a PITA.
For a type 1 hypervisor (bare metal), there are a lot of choices these days, but for the purpose of learning Windows, I'd probably suggest using Hyper-V. When it's time to wipe it out, you can take the opportunity to try the others.
Windows Server is available for download and will run for 180 days in trial mode. More than enough time to build, test, and learn how it all works, even for someone who only gets a few hours a week to do it. If you want to skip those, you can also get the technical preview of 2016. For learning, I'd probably go with 2012 R2, as that's going to be closest to 2016 and will have a LOT more...

  • Use a emulator to test AIR for Android app

I am using Flash CS 5.5 on a Mac to make an Android version of a Flash app. I would like to use an Android emulator to test the resulting apk file. I downloaded the Android Developer Tools but can't figure out how to install a apk file so that it appears in the emulator. Can anone give me step by step instructions? Since I'm on a Mac, I prefer non-command line statments. Also include needed publisher settings in Flash.
I'm also open to any Mac OS X based Android emulators that allows me to run an Adroid app directly from an apk file stored on my hard drive.
    Thanks

    Hi guys, any ideas?

  • Tieing 2 key systems together with fxo/fxs and 1760 routers

    Hello,
I need some programming help from someone good on voice. I've got two offices that I'm trying to tie the phone systems together with 2x Cisco 1760 routers each with 2x PVDM-256K-4 1 DSP Modules. I've got the layout below and am basically looking to do two things.
First, I would like ext. 210 from the first site to dial a co group “1” or directly access a “CO line” that is connected to the Cisco and get dial tone to be able to dial the directory number for a “CO line” with the same setup at the second site and have it able to be answered like a normal call and be transferred.
The second connection I would like is to have ext. 210 be able to dial locally to one of site 1's analog single line extensions and have the Ciscos make a connection through to site 2 and go off-hook on one of the analog single line extensions of site 2 in order to get a site 2 dial tone and be able to dial locally @ site 2 to any extension, or dial one of site 2's co groups or directory number for one of site 2's real CO lines and place a “local” call to the outside world from site 2's lines.
Obviously this process would all be reversed for site 2 accessing site 1. I've come across a couple of documents, like ID: 15405, and a section of a VoIP Configuration guide labeled OL-1070-01 and have some command structure available, but the concept of how it all takes place and should be configured is a little fuzzy.
    Thank you,
    Mark

OK, let me simplify things. I think I'm putting way too much thought into it all. I've got site A and site B. Site A (currently for testing) has a single line extension from Site A's key system plugged into port 0 in fxo card in slot 2. Site A will have a patch from port 0 in fxs card in slot 3 to a CO line on the key system. Site B has the same setup. Both have fa 0/0 configured with IP addresses on the same network (just to simulate the connections - later I will actually move these to two separate internet feeds for more advanced testing).
Currently for testing I have disconnected the fxs patches to the phone systems and just have a regular analog phone plugged in. When my phone plugged into Site A goes off hook, I get dial-tone from the extension hooked up to Site B (which is the exact way I want it). When my analog phone is plugged into Site B (port 0 of fxs card in slot 3) and goes off hook, it will ring port 0 of fxs card in slot 3 of Site A. This I don't understand. If I can get both to behave like Site A, I'd be happy.
I need to know if this makes sense to anyone on how I want this to operate? Is it achievable?
Here's my base config on it (Site A first, then Site B):

  • Does anybody know of a way to get PSX Emulator for iPhone 4s w/ out jailbreak?

Does anybody know of a way to get PSX Emulator for iPhone 4s (iOS 7) w/ out jailbreak? Im trying to relive my childhood on my phone. I have the gameboy emulator and i know the date and time rule. I was just wondering if anybody knew a good place to get a psx emulator without having to jailbreak my device.
Also, does anybody on the off chance know a record-your-screen program for iOS 7 without a jailbreak? That would be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advanced,
    PMC~

I think that the psx emulator is actually in the retroarch emulator.
Haven't tested it as of yet, because the download link isn't working.
I'm using the GBA emulator at the moment too but I'm pretty bored of it, I wanted to play final fantasy :(

  • UCCX 8.0 in test Lab

    Hello Folks,
I'm going to install UCCX 8.0 in a test lab and I'm wondering what hardware other are using?
I'm presuming that it needs ESXi4.0?  Do you have to use the full production specification of 2 x vCPU and 4GB RAM?  Or can you cut down the resources like you can for Call Manager in VMware?
    All advice greatfully received!
    LH

    Hello fella,
Things are going pretty well at the moment.  How about yourself?
I've not seen Daz for a little while now.  He's still over at Azzuri though!
I've had a shot at installing UCCX into VMware Server 1.x and ESXi 3.5, but it keeps spitting out "The hardware you are using is not supported for this product".  I've had a shot at opening the ISO to have a look at what version of VMware it's expecting, but all of the HWXXXX files in \Cisco\vendor seem to be blank and just show "NULL" or blank when I open them.  Maybe that's why my hardware isn't supported if the file is knackered!
Did you do anything special and do you know if those files are ok on your copy of UCCX?
Hope you're not working too hard ;-)
