FxPlug plug-ins? Included filters?
There's support for FxPlug plug-ins in FCE, but most of the manufacturers only list FCP as the host app. Will they work in FCE as well, or not? And is there a full list of included filters in FCE somewhere, I checked the manual, and it didn't have it.
I believe that most (if not all) filters for FCP will also work with FCE.
However, before purchasing you need to contact the makers to get a guarantee that they will and that you will be offered a refund if they don't.
Alternatively post the names of the filters you want to buy here and see if somebody on the forum has tried them and found they work.

Why Adobe does not say that some plug-ins and filters on a 64-bit Apple computers do not work?
I called assistance, and the only proposal that I have done was to make new installations, or create a new user.
Then I found this article on the web!
..."Unfortunately, to accommodate the new programming code that allows for 64-bit processing, some plug-ins and filters—the built-in
Variations and Lighting Effects, for example—only work in 32-bit mode, and that surely will disappoint some users. Moreover, most t
hird-party plug-ins too will work only in 32-bit mode, until they are updated. Thankfully, it’s easy (though not especially convenie
nt) to switch between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the program; just select the application icon, choose File->Get Info, turn o
n the 32-bit option, and relaunch Photoshop."
It is not a system so simple for a person working with photoshop files very large (Over 6/7 GB). You lose several minutes of time.
The tests carried out then the difference in performance from 64 to 32 Bit is 40-50% faster in 64 bit mode. This is also why the 64-bit version you can assign more memory.
Someone from Adobe can answer?
Then, to conclude.
But the icons of some new palette of photoshop could not make it more beautiful and not ugly and unpleasant?
MarioYou not hearing it doesn’t mean Adobe didn’t say it.

Plug-ins/No Filters Folder
Trying to load plug-ins in CS6, on a Mac, but there is no filters file under the Plug-ins folder. It is completely vacant except for a Panels folder. Did the filters folder move to somewhere else?
I recommend, if you're copying your own plug-ins from whatever sources into your plug-ins folder (vs. using an installer), that you create subfolders that are plainly named. That way you'll know what they are at some time in the future instead of trying to figure it out from some short, cryptic name.
As an example, from my own system:

Firefox crashes when I open Adobe (pdf) ALL plug ins are up to date as is FF
This is a known issue with Adobe Reader, and it depends on Adobe updating their plugin.
Whilst you're waiting for Adobe to fix their plugin, you can disable it and fallback to the default PDF reader in Firefox by following these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -
So I'm looking to buy a set of filters, i've checked some out through trials and worked with some at different jobs. I like Sapphire (although crazy expensive) and FX Factory seemed not bad. I will be using these with music videos, short films, etc...
looking for input on some of your favorite filters/plug-in's...
thanks!!FxFactory is very highy regarded and offers exceptional value : http://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/

Favorite But Lengthy FXPlug Plug Ins Test With ATI 3870
I'm going to be testing the AMD/ATI 3870 for FXPlug In acceleration versus a stock nvidia card.
Does anybody have a favorite FXPlug in FCP that frustrates them with lengthy renders?
If so let me know and I'll run a test on it with the new card.
ThanksCool and Cool. Mine is now installed and things are looking great thus far. I'm doing some preliminary testing but I'm also on a job so thanks for putting some testing out there.
Zoom Blurs, Shines and all things lighting seem to be render intensive. Complex PAINT as well. Can you benchmark at DVCPROHD 720p60? That's my sweet spot right now for many of my clients. Anything with several layers of fx, etc.
I'll be going through the Noiseindustries plugs when I get a chance, but I'm happy to be up and running with the 3870. My X1900XT is now my back up and I have some peace of mind.
cheers and thanks for offering.

"3rd Party Plug-Ins" Not Showing Up In Preference Pane...
I'm trying to install a couple of 3rd-Party Plug-Ins... Apparently the procedure for this is to go to Preferences, and in the "General" pane, there should be a heading that says "3rd Party Plug-Ins" along with buttons "Choose..." and "Clear" and a path.
On my General Preferences Pane, there is no such section... It goes right from "Content Library & Templates" to "Media," with no "3rd Party Plug-Ins" listed anywhere in the pane.
Using Motion 3.0.2.... Did something change and they didn't change the manual to match? Or is there some setting elsewhere that's making that option disappear?
Thanks!!!
NickHowdy,
The "3rd party plug-ins" section in the Library and preferences really refers to AE plug-ins. Third-party FxPlug plug-ins (like dvMatte or Boris Continuum) show up mixed in with the regular filters and generators.
That "3rd party plug-ins" path setting in the preferences doesn't appear on Intel-based Macs, as they're no longer supported. If you have a PowerPC system, they'll show up (and so will the setting). -
Photoshop no longer recognizes plug-ins, even native ones
I have a Intel based Mac running OS 10.6.8 I have both Photoshop CS5 and CS3 installed. I run CS3 for the purpose of occasionally using filters that have not been updated for CS5. But recently both CS5 and CS3 stopped recognizing all filters including native ones. I can see the plug-ins in the preferences lists and they do not show up in the error or unloaded plug-ins part of the list. I assume what ever happened must be in some part of the system that effects both applications.
I have cleaned out as many pref files as I can locate, did a full uninstall of o programs and re-installed only CS5 but it still does not see nay plug-ins or filters.
Any ideas would be appreciated!

I am using LR5.6 on a Windows 7 machine with plenty of memory. LR, CS5 and all of my plug ins have been working just fine. Tonight I've found that if I make any kind of significant adjustments to an image, and the go to "Edit in.." that function does not launch. I can use the Edit in command on an unmodified image, or if I reset the modified image. I have the issue with all of my plug ins, including Photoshop, all of the Nik software, RadLab, and OnOne. I believe that all of the plug ins are current. I've been working with them yesterday and I had no issue. I cannot recall anything that has changed since then, and I have not installed any software. I'm at a loss!! Please help!
I have traced the problem to a corrupted profile. When I captured the images in question, I also used Color Cherckr to create a profile for processing. When I apply that profile to the adjustments I make, I can no longer "Edit In". If I use another profile, even one that I created using Color Checkr at a different point in time, I don't have the issue. Something seems to have corrupted the new profile. I will re-create the profile and see if the issue is resolved.

ID CS5.5 IDML file and missing plug-ins...need help
I'm currently running ID CS5.5 and trying to open a CS5 file, ( I think). However, even after converting it to a IDML file extension it just hangs and forces me to shut down. The whole purpose of this is there are several plug-ins including InBooklet SE that I no longer have access to. I'm unable to find the other plugins as well but need to be able to work in this file as the original creator. Any help or suggestions?

How to permanently disable click-to-run "feature" on all plug-ins
How can I permanently disable the click-to-run "feature" for all plug-ins *including* ones that are unsafe, exploitable, etc.?
I know that this is "unsafe", "inadvisable", a "security risk", etc. however this question has been asked many times and I have not yet found an answer. My reason for wanting to do so is not important and there is no point in questioning it; this is a simple question with what should be a simple answer, and does not require the bickering and arguing that always ensues when someone asks this extraordinarily basic question.
I want to permanently disable any and all forms of click-to-run for any and all plugins, so that all plugins run without having to be clicked first and show absolutely no warnings whatsoever of any kind. If I don't want to run a plug-in I will disable it.
How can I do this very simply thing? Some outdated plugins (e.g. Flash plugins) are blocked via click-to-play and can be enabled when required.<br />
It is best to update such a plugin to the latest version to be protected against security vulnerabilities.
You would have to disable blocklisting to circumvent this and that is not recommended. -
Suggestions for third party plug-ins
I’m looking into purchasing some third party filters soon. I’m into special events like anniversaries, weddings, High School events like sports seasons, musicals, etc.
What are the third party plug-ins or filters that you would recommend?
Hank KearnsFor what purpose?
In other words, what effects are you trying to make?
I’m slowly learning more about Final Cut Pro and editing. I do not have any specific need right now. Perhaps I should have asked what are the effects that the more experienced users have found useful.
Here is an example of a effect produced by chv that was posted on Ken Stone’s Discussion List. The contributor I believe is the creator of the plug-in.
<http://www.chv-plugins.com/tmp/Ken-3D-Cube-Demo.mov>
Right now I do not have a need for something like that, but it would be nice to have to potential of creating something like this when needed.

Ai CS6 continues to not work- additional problem with plug-ins.
These messages came up while trying to open these two files. They open after clicking OK, but the applicaion bar is completley blank and with no tools showing.
Watch Illustrator as it boots to see of if initialzing plug ins is showing, or if it acts as if shift is being held down and boots really quick (most your keys commands would not work then).
Applications >> utilities >> disk Utility >> repair Permissions.
Reset your prefs: immediately after booting Ilustrator, hold down 3 keys: shift, command, opt
Go to applications >> Illustrator 6 >> Plug ins >> Illustrator Filters (is offset path there?) if not you may have something wrong with your install and many of your plug ins may be missing. The plug ins mentioned are mostly in 3 of the folders.
Check that your plug ins don't say somehting liek size is 0k. Here is the info for my plug in. -
I purchased the Magic 3D FX plug-ins from CVH, downloaded and installed them. After starting up FCP the plug-ins didn't show up.
Yes, I did a search but didn't find an answer to this problem.
Generally plug-ins are installed in the /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Plug-ins folder, the CHV installer placed the three plug-ins and .key file in the /Library/Plug-ins/FXPlug folder.
For grins I tried coping the plug-in into the asme folder with the rest of the plug-ins, didn't work.
Anyone else had success installing these plug-ins? Any suggestions?Charles, did you do a restart after installling the plug-ins? I did this and they showed up just fine. FXPlug plug-ins do install in /Library/Plug-ins/FXplug folder. You need to put them back there along with the .key.
The 3D Magic plugs are generators, are you sure you aren't seeing them? Did you also check Motion to see if they are installed correctly.
I've had no problems, you might try contacting CHV, he is always pretty quick to respond. -
Safari crashed a couple days ago and reset all my bookmarks (which was the only noticeable difference at first). Then a realized I couldn't play videos off nbc.com and fox.com because it said I needed the plug-in. I had watched videos off these sites just days before. YouTube videos still work. It seems that Safari isn't recognizing that I have certain plug-ins, including Quicktime. I have the plug-in box checked under Safari Security Preferences. Any suggestions? Thanks.
You may need to teak some settings:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
