FYI - Safari Crashes

Question

There seems to be all kinds of posts relating to Safari Crashes or "unexpected quits". I just happened to notice after Safari started giving me problems and I came here for answers. Several posts mentioned going into the Users/yer name/ Library... folder and removing various folders within. So, I did but it took me a while to find which folder was the disenchanted one. For me, the Users/yer name/Library/Cookies hit the target. Eureka - fianlly! I removed that folder, restarted the the computer, opened Safari, and much to my surprise, it didn't quit after 15 seconds as it had been doing. (I could also do software updates again.) If you're having problems with Safari, I would recommend:
1) Logging in another account to see if Safari works in that account. You can try logging in as Root if you know how to be careful with it, and have the root account already established with a password. If you login Root as a normal user and don't use the command line interface, you can't really do any more damage with it than a normal administrator account. You could also just create another account which is very easy. If Safari works in that account, then the problem is local to your account and isn't the result of an overall system problem or overall application problem.
2) Keep a copy of Firefox around as well - it doesn't hurt to have a backup browser available. Internet Explorer is not making updates for mac any longer so consider that browser obsolete.
3) If you've determined the problem to be local to your account, you can go into that accounts Library folder and fish around in it for anything that you think pertains to Safari. If something looks like it has potential, move it to the trash (which doesn't permanently remove it from the computer of course) and restart your computer. When Safari starts back up, it'll automatically re-create a new, fresh folder in the Library where that one was removed. So, you're not creating irreversible damage by throwing some folder in the trash. however, i can't guarantee that all folder within Library are necessarily that way so don't be quick to empty your trash!
Lesson learned for me: Safari as an system-wide application uses information/setting/preferences folders that are personal to your account. These folders go bad (and is usually the result of something you did) and can cause problems. Throwing them in the trash can definitely resolve the issue.

Wow, a company released a 1.0.1 update for a product a month after the product was released, and it doesn't fix every single one of the crashes? Stop the presses!
