FYI updating my IPOD seems to have fixed song skipping

Hi,
I was having problems with songs that I purchased from Itunes skipping on my IPOD mini. I saw that alot of others here are having the same problem. I updated my Ipod, and the problem seems to have gone away (at least for now!). Just thought I would share this with others who are having the same problem becuase I know how frustrating it is when you IPOD keeps skipping your songs .

Hi I am replying to my own message just so that it gets pushed back up to the top. No, I am not doing this for some sort of egotistical reason, I am doing it because this problem seems to be very common with the IPOD mini, and I know how irritating it is when your IPOD keeps skipping over all the songs you want to hear.

Illustrator crashing after 16.0.1update, 16.0.2 update seems to have fixed it

I am running win7 with latest updates, running Illustrator (64-bit) from CS6 Web and Design Premium Suite.
Illustrator crashed 6 times this week after installing the updates from the end of last week (update 16.0.1). The updates that were released today seem to have fixed it, although I cannot absolutely confirm this.
I have spent the past hour trying to break the software doing the same tasks that caused crashes earlier this week, and then far more extreme tasks then I would ever actually do or need to do, and have not been able to recreate the same crash problems.
I have been using Illustrator for nearly 15 years, it's been very rare that I've ever experienced an illustrator crash like what was happening after the 16.0.1 update. I didn't have time to troubleshoot the issue until today, fortunately the 16.0.2 update seems to have resolved the issue. If the issue returns I will follow up with another post - it's rare though that I find an article that says "I've had this problem, but it looks like you fixed it". Thank you Adobe for the fix.

6.0.1 seems to have fixed my iPhone 5 battery life. Hypothesis as to why inside...

So after installing iOS 6.0.1, and being COMPLETELY angry with no mention of the battery drain glitch being resolved in the patch notes, I'm pleasantly surprised that I can report that my battery life is now BETTER than my iPhone 4 was. This is like a godsend! I used to see a percentage go down in less than a minute, but I've been at 94% for the past 5 minutes of usage at max brightness with all settings on like cloud, fetch, push, etc.
My best guess as to the glitch that caused the battery drain is that something was entirely funky with the way wifi and cellular was handled, and that was the glitch that was resolved that indirectly was causing diminished battery life.
I assume that Apple was aware of the glitch, but wanted to minimize bad publicity so they never acknowledged the problem, but worked on a fix silently. I'm not sure I agree with that approach, but the important thing is that they seemed to have fixed it, since the difference is so obvious to me that it's like night and day. Can anybody else confirm their battery life has also improved significantly?

I've been using my phone constantly for the past half hour with all features on and max brightness and its only gone down 5%.

If I want to update my iPod do I have to sync it to a computer?

Basically, I would like to update my iPod but I don't want to sync it to my computer. I do not want to sync it because I have music from an old computer and I am aware that if I sync my iPod I will lose all the songs I have not purchased through my iTunes account. So my question is; if I update my iPod will I lose the music not purchased from my iTunes account?

If the music is in the iTunes library on your computer you won't lose anything.

No. Its not possible.
Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync.

all you have to do to have your ipod not update is to set it to manually update, and then all you have to do is drag and drop the songs you want updated onto your ipod (the little tab that says ipod-or whatever you named it) go to edit->preferences->selec the "ipod" tab right after "general" and if you have your ipod connected you'll be able to check one of the three boxes, check the one that says manually update. it will most likely be the one right after the box where you select which section you want to update from (which is unimportant in this case) hope that answers your question.

New computer only syncs itunes music from ipod but i have other songs not purchased from itunes that does not show up in new computer

i used to have 900+ songs stored on my HP laptop, which i can no longer use and bought new toshiba laptop. when i tried to synce 900 songs from iPOD to the toshiba it only gave me 330 songs and not the entire library stored on the iPOD. have tried sync from iCLOUD as well as importing & exporting songs as shown in the drop down menu from iTUNES, but unable to do the sync process successfully!? do i have to manually reload every song i have already burned to CD onto new toshiba? am i or did i already do something wrong to prevent what should have been an easy sync?? am retired and techno-challenged. really need clear to follow instructions. any help will be more than greatly appreciated...

You can only sync with one computer/iTunes library. To make the new computer the syncing computer:

I have numbers on my ipad and after the latest update I can't open a spreadsheet in it, a very important spreadsheet. I have rebooted a number of times but this does not seem to have fixed it can someone advise what I can do??

I had the same problem. I created an iCloud account and backed up my iPad to iCloud. I then went to www.iCloud.com, signed-in and then I was able to download my spread sheet data. At least I have my data.

Is it possible for Apple to make one more software update for iPod Touch 3G to fix the music library?

My iPod Touch 3G is running ios 5.1.1 and the music library isn't aphabetical. It's all messed up. I could post a picture if needed. I wanted to see if Apple could create a ios update just to fix this.

I doubt it. Based on past experience once Apple stops updates for a mode iPod there are no more. This is based on the 1G and 2G iPods.
You are not addressing Apple here. We are all just users like yourself.

- Yes. If you also want to retain app data, connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup. The restore will also update the iOS.

I seem to have fixed my problem of randomly occuring errors in my filterwheel control. But I don't know why this should actually work.

I am using a thorlabs fw102B filterwheel. It's connected via USB (simulating COM port, that's what it says in MAX). The second device is a camera, also connected via USB. The application is running 24/7, at least that's what it's supposed to do. LabView version is 8.6.
The LabView code I wrote for this, was never really finished, meaning I totally ignored error handling in the first program version. That never bothered me, because the program ran for weeks and months without any problem. Whenever I had to reboot my system it was not LabViews fault, but I was changing something else.
Recently I was running into problems with the filterwheel (after a system reboot). However, I don't understand the error in the first place: The filterwheel is supposed to change position every 15 minutes, in between the camera is taking exposures, then the data is written to an ASCII-file (only ~156 kB). At first the error occured just once: the filterwheel was set to the wrong position for about 15 minutes, which might happen, as it is not really could in counting. A few days later it was in that wrong positon for one hour, so it didn't respond to the "move" order four times in a row. Finally I didn't move at all anymore. The error message I was getting is "0xFFFFFFF unkown status code". In my opinion the communcation to the filterwheel got lost somehow. I don't know a better explantion.
But why should it recover after some time?
The problem usually occured at night, when nobody is there to watch.
I investigated the behaviour in a second setup (see attachment). There is only the filterwheel connected. Through randomly unplugging the USB or power cable I was able to reproduce 'session handle is not valid', 'unkown status code' and 'session handle lost'. The program enters the 'true case', the session is to be closed and resetted, then it shall be reinitialized. This actually works as soon as the cables are reconnected. But why?
The close.vi still returns 'session handle is not valid', The reset.vi returns the same, but initialize.vi returns 'No Error' and the system works again.
What am I not getting here?
I read some threads here and somebody mentioned for another instrument/problem to use the 'reset' command twice. So I tried 'close-initialize', 'reset-reset-initialize', 'reset-initialize' but only 'close-reset-initialize' works (not surprising). Yet I still get the same errors (probe 1 and 2). Am I introducing more bugs without knowing than I fixed?
I AM CONFUSED.

thank you for your answer. Concerning the dataflow I agree and it is what I usually do. Actually I follow the dataflow paradigm whenever there is no problem (the 'false case' in the screenshot):
“FW102x Initialize.vi” -> “FW102x Get Position.vi” -> “FW102x Set Position.vi”.
Whenever there is a mistake, this just doesn't work with these drivers. The sequence
“FW102x Initialize.vi” -> “FW102x Get Position.vi” -> ///error/// -> “FW102x Close.vi”, “FW102x Reset.vi” ;; “FW102x Initialize.vi”
will give me errors for “FW102x Close.vi”, “FW102x Reset.vi” and “FW102x Initialize.vi” reporting "session handle not valid". However, if I "bypass" the instrument handles directly from the first "Initialize" to "Close" and "Reset", they will report the same error, but the second "Initialize" will work again. I can even merge the first two frames and execute "Close" and "Reset" at the same time to do so. But whenever I try something else, e.g. do the 'correct' wiring, I am unable to close, reset or reinitialize. I have to restart LabView completely, to make the vi work again. So I guess the session is still hanging around somewhere in memory, but I can't access it anymore.
Surprisingly, wherever I put Probes on the data handle wires they show the correct "ASRL5::INSTR" (with or without correct wiring). But only the "Bypass" wire makes the vi work. Since you couldn't find the drivers in the driver network, I guess they might just run into problems, if an error occurs.
But thanks for your comment anyway. The problem is fixed for the moment. It's just that I prefer to actually know what I am doing here instead of producing some code I'd rather not show anyone.
