G3 B&W 450 worked great then... NO CHIME! nada. After Zif CPU & RAM upgrade
I never should have added ram and a Zif 1ghz G3 at the same time... can't trouble shoot as easily now.
I've done my personal obligatory 2 day search for answers before posting a question....
I've done all the yada yadas with CUDA and battery....
I've found several people with this problem on the net. One gentleman in particualar purchased a new logic board on ebay and WALA it worked... which way do I go?
Any help would be cool. I ebayed the ram but did my research and found it to be compatible. Oh, and the ram was seated correctly too.

Ok your BWG3 had a 450MHz G3 and you upped to a 1GHz G3 Zif upgrade and Added RAM.
After any major upgrade its good habit to reset the CUDA/PMU swtich. you said you've done that.
I am going to assume the 1GHZ G3 CPU is from PowerLogix, I know very recently PowerLogix upgraded the CPU/Cache software for OSX Tiger so you should make sure you've go the most recent version for that.
I do not know if a Firmware upgrade is required to upgrade the BWG3 to the 1GHZ G3, i know to upgrade it to a G4 processor a firmware upgrade is mandatory. You should check with the Maker of the 1GHz G3 processor if the computer required any Firmware upgrades.
Your RAM. BWG3's have a 100MHz system bus so if you max the RAM out you would of put in 4x 256MB PC100 168pin 3.3v unbuffered non-parity SDRAM DIMM's. If you used PC133 you should have all 4 DIMMs be the same Speed and Spec. Mixed RAM of different speed is not good.
I sincerely hope when you swapped out the processor and RAM you were wearing an anti-static wrist strap otherwise a static discharge could have easily rendered your computer unusuable in any manner of ways.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -
I can't download OS5 or, rather, iTunes does download it about 450 mb and then, a few seconds after it starts processing the file, I get the message that I am timed out and am recommended to check my internet connection. I am using 3g to download it.
I don't know which country you're in, but in the US, carriers limit the amount of download for a single file when using 3G. Have you tried wifi?

ICal Server was working great then...BAMF! No account information found...
Our iCal server is failing to authenticate, although the Open Directory Services on the server appear to be working. Originally the server was bound to the domain and pointed to the Open Directory server for the main company (which ultimately is probably a good idea).
However
That was switched so that our server is now it's own Open Directory Master (although DNS still points to the right place).
Any chance this could have royally screwed things up in the bowels of the authentication preferences?
Whenever trying to start an iCal account on our server I'm getting this error (NOTE that iCal server worked great for a day before BAMF! Error city)

Thunderbird had been working great then stopped today.
I have verified the settings (incoming - pop.verizon.net/995, outgoing - smtp.verizon.net/465, SSL/TLS for both). I spent about an hour on the phone with Verizon and of course everything is great on their end so it must be Thunderbird...right. Anyway, this setting has been working fine for the past several months, and today I can't get new emails or send emails. When I click get mail, nothing happens. When I try to send an email I get:

The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.verizon.net timed out.
Try again or contact your network administrator.

I used it today and then I closed it and when I tried opening it again, it didn't open. The organizer works but Photoshop does't. (no error message or anything)

All was working fine with garageband and all of a sudden kaboom.....most all my songs now have a white box beside them resembling a white word pad and now I can't drag songs from my itunes into the garageband app but they still work in iTunes. Help please!

Maverick worked great, then suddenly SLOW after installed WebRoot virus software
When I first upgraded to Mavericks my system was super fast!
Then I downloaded a trial version of WebRoot security software & then full version. Then started to have the screen freeze (sometimes seemed to be associated with the mouse cursor and sometimes not?), had to force quit. AND, then the system started up SLOW. So I uninstalled Webroot.
But system still slow in start up phase PLUS now in the middle of the monitor there's a break in the image all the way across the screen which then disappears after about 30seconds or so.
What can I do to fix the start up speed and what is up with the screen break (never had that in any of my prior Macs). Thanks, CharlotteDo waht leroydouglas suggested. Anti virus software is not needed on Macs. They do more harm than good at the present time.
Also avoid malware like Mackeeper, CleanMyMac and similare cleaning apps.

X1 Carbon integrated camera working but not showing any image after Windows 8.1 upgrade
Good afternoon, sundely after I upgraded Windows to version 8.1 64x my integrated camera stopped sending image to any program that uses it, the green light goes on but there is no image. Before worked just fine.I have tried to uninstal and install again camera drivers, installed Lenovo dependency package, etc....no solution.Please help?Thanks Sergio
I resolved my issue by going to device manager selected View then View Hidden Devices.
Expand System Devices
Found two IWD BUS devices and one had the yellow triangle. I uninstalled that item and restarted my Carbon X1 and the error was gone. The original working IWD BUS remains active. -
Gmail not working right since Mavericks install, even after 10.9.1 upgrade
I use Apple mail. Comcast, which is POP, is my internet provider. In order to use IMAP capability I forward my email to my Gmail acct. All worked flawlessly until Mavericks came along. Even after the 10.9.1 upgrade
Here are my issues:
(1) draft emails are copied every minute so I get multiple drafts like this:
Hello
Hello John
Hello John, how
Hello John, how are you?
(2) If I send myself an email to test how my email is working if I delete the received email from the inbox it deletes itself from the sent box. If I delete the email from the sent box it deletes the email in the inbox.....
(3) and nothing is being saved on the Gmail server although my settings indicated "never" remove the email.
Any thoughts? It's drviing me crazy & I'm afraid I'm going to lose valuable emails....

JimI decided to test Mavericks Mail with a new Gmail account today to see what the new default settings in Mail works with Gmail. It seems that all the workarounds we used prior to Mavericks are no longer needed. No root folder required. No prefix [Gmail]/ for folders.
I no longer had to use "Use this folder for Drafts, Sent, Junk, Trash". When I delete a message it actually goes to Trash not to All Mail. Yipeee!
Be sure to select All Mail folder. -
Airplay doesn't work anymore on my iPhone 6 after iOS 8.2 upgrade

I'm using Airport Express (2nd generation) for streaming music on my stereo from 2 iPhones: one 5 and one 6. Since I upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS8.2, Airplay is not working anymore on this phone: Airplay icon is visible and actionnable, but it doesn' produce any sound on my stereo. Airport Utiliy is OK.
Airplay is still working on my iPhone 5 which hasn't been upgraded.
I did a hard reset of my iPhone 6, with no success.

We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. Then all of a sudden I was trying to use a game application and the screen went black and there is a white cursor which I can move around, but I can't escape it. When I restart it seems okay and I see my main screen, but only for a second and then it goes black again.
This computer was brand new in June. Is it the humidity??? What can I do. Please help!!!!No guarantess but try smc and pram resets,

I had completed my iDVD project, a Wedding Slideshow with pictures and music, and burned it on a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the original project on my computer and clicked around and put a red frame around the opening screen that has the Wedding theme with music. Now when I burn the project to make more DVDs, it burns but no longer has the opening frame. It immediately opens to the iMovie slideshow. How can I fix so I can burn the entire project with opening frames?
As Bengt suggested make a disk image of the successfully burned DVD using Disk Utility. Then you can burn copies any time you need one.
In the future once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
You can then burn it to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

LocalConnection issues- works great and then fails
I'm having trouble with LocalConnection. I'm using it to have a button in the main swf file control another sub swf file.
This is my AS2 in the main swf:

Basically I'm telling the button in main to load a movie in the sub swf with about_btn and then go to frame 2 in the main swf, then when they hit the other button, it loads a different movie and goes back to frame 1 in the main swf file. The sub swf is basically empty with a holder movie in it and this AS2:

The two movies buenosaires_text.swf and empty.swf have content but no actionscript. Also- it might be worth noting that I have 4 pages on the site that have this action taking place, but they are 4 separate html pages that house the swfs.
It worked great, and then became unstable as it was tested more and more, it would work and then the user would navigate back to it and try the buttons again and they wouldn't work. All is remedied when the browser is refreshed, but you can't put a disclaimer on a site to have the user refresh every time it stops working. (this site has been tested on 2 different servers and locally all with the same outcome)
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I've been killing myself over this and my inability to figure out what is wrong with my apparently possessed script.I'm not sure what you mean, I'm embedding the swf files like this:

I just watched my first movie using Apple TV and Netflix. Apple TV works great except for then I try to switch back over to tv mode I get the cable channel info on the bottom of the screen but no sound or picture. What did I I do wrong?
It was easy to set up, easy to use, got done watching the movie. Transferred from HDMI to TV and as my question above notes. I am on TV, my cable information (show/channel/etc) show OM the banner on the bottom of the screen, I can view the channell guide, but, my screen is white, no picture no sound?
