G3 blueberry clamshell - what is the highest operating system it will run
I have a G3 Blueberry clamshell that has OS 8.6, 160 MB built in memory. What is the highest operating system this can be upgraded to?
Before you install OS X make sure you check the ibook's firmware - chances are it hasn't been updated. You should be running version boot rom version 4.1.7. You can check this out in your system profiler under production information. I think you have to be running OS9.1 or OS9.2 to do this. Once you have installed OS X you won't be able to do the firmware update.

I have a Mac running OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.83 intel core duo what is the highest operating system upgrade that I can get?
You can check to see if yours meets the system requirements for Snow Leopard - that would be the highest; Lion will not run on your machine.
Please note that the minimum 1 GB RAM is a minimum - 2 GB would be better.

You can buy it at the Apple Store, other online resellers, or ebay (but be careful there to only bid on a new retail shrinkwrapped package to you don't get suckered into a used install disk which won't work on other machines). -

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation system requirements
http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24950
Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
MB427Z/A Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
MB576Z/A Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)
MB022Z/A Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (5-user family pack)

What is the best operating system i can run
Processor 2 GHZ Intel Core Duo Memory 2 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM, currently running Version 10.4.11
<Title Edited by Host>Just so you know, a Mac with an Intel processor is not a G-series Mac (i.e., yours isn't a G5).
"Best" depends upon what you need, though if you only have a Core Duo processor and not a Core 2 Duo you are limited to OSX 10.4.11-10.6.8. With your ocmputer I would grab a copy of Snow Leopard (10.6) before they really are all gone.
Apple no longer carries 10.6 in its stores or online. Telephone Apple to purchase a Snow Leopard disc. In the USA: (800) 676-2775 (contact information for other countries: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57)
Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but expect to pay much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple -
What is the current operating system on a Mac laptop?
I'm shopping for a Mac laptop...what is the current operating system for a mac laptop?
Mavericks is no longer available from Apple — unless you purchase an older refurb unit from Apple that still has it installed. Yosemite 10.10.0 (now 10.10.2) superseded it. Mavericks came with my May 2014 MacBook Air, and I had no issues with Mavericks, or applications on it. I subsequently upgraded to Yosemite, because I prefer to stay current — and have had no issues with Yosemite either.

what are the Processor, Operating system, hard drive device, Total Memory, Network card, System Graphics of the Silver ipad air?
"Memory" in this case means RAM, the working space for the processor in the iPad. It is different from storage space, the latter being what is referred to by the "32GB", "64GB" etc. specification.
Regards.

What is the latest Mac OS that will run Acrobat 6
What is the latest Mac OS that will run Acrobat 6
Ok, it's a PPC app. That means it needs Rosetta. Rosetta was gone by Mac OS 10.7, so that is out of the question.
Rosetta is an option you can install in 10.6. So it may be possible in that system.
Acrobat 7 listed as its official requirements "10.2.8 or 10.3" but it still runs as of 10.5, from my testing.
Acrobat 6, though is from the early days of Mac OS X. (Acrobat 5 was released for Mac OS 9), In 2003, we were on Mac OS 10.3.
It might run in later systems, I suspect the first thing to fail would be the Adobe PDF printer driver. -

Everymac web site with Apple model listing - http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/index-apple-specs-applespec.html
Check the above web site. Unless somebody can give you a concise answer here you can start browsing different models and their boot requirements. The system information is located in the lower half of each model's page. Look at G4s and early G5s.
Note that anything that can run 10.4 or earlier will also support Classic. Not all applications run well in Classic but many do. If the primary purpose of the computer is to run this software it can be a bit tiresome to have to have Classic running all the time. I find it okay to use but only work with it once a month for an hour or less.
My computer (G4 Quicksilver) boots to early OS9 natively but can also run anything up to OSX 10.5. I can boot to OS9 but have neve needed to do so. -
My macbook is version 10.4.11. I'm having a lot of issues with updating to the new itunes, and even connecting my iphone. I know it is time to ugrade my whole operating system, but i am unsure of which one I need to get. Is it snow leopard, lion, or is there something else i need to get? I'm really confused and getting frustrated with my Macbook. Also, another thing is that my computer keeps saying "starter disk full" does anybody know what this means? Any help is truly appreciated!!
You can upgrade to OS X Leopard 10.5, as iPhone requires 10.5.8. However, Apple in the US no longer stocks Leopard, so you'd need to find an alternate source for it. http://www.hardcoremac.com will have unopened copies, although it may be pricey. If you go used, get the black label version, and not gray label, as the gray label version is locked to the system it shipped with.
You can go to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, which is available from the online Apple store, if you want. Be sure to upgrade any non-Apple software that needs upgrading to run under Snow Leopard, and if you have any printer drivers, ensure they are updated too.
If you decide you want to upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion, be aware that Lion no longer includes the Rosetta emulator, which allowed PowerPC code to run on Intel systems. So any PowerPC programs you currently have won't run under Lion. Also, while the Lion minimum memory is 2GB, a number of people have found they need 4GB for any sort of decent system performance.
Oh, and startup disk full messages mean, as the prior post says, that you need to make space on your internal hard drive. You want a minimum of 5GB, and better yet 10% to 15%+ of your disk capacity should be free, for systems usage. -
I have an IMAC (purchased in late 2007) that has been upgraded to the maximum memory of 4GB. Current operating system is 10.6.8.
How much farther can I upgrade the operating system? The IMAC was upgraded by a local computer service store because we have dial up. The person who did the upgrade said I couldn't upgrade any further because the IMAC would run to slow. Here is what I have now.
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
SMC Version (system): 1.20f4
Serial Number (system): W87482Y9X88
Hardware UUID: 00000000-0000-1000-8000-001B63BE8AEA
Any thoughts on realistic upgrade potential? I need to do something as my current Safari version (5.1.10) is not working properly on some important web sites.
Thanks! -
What is the highest OS my Macbook can run?
I have a mid-2007 MacBook and I wanted to know what the highest OS I could run. I'm currently running 10.6.8, and I plan on getting 10.7 soon. Here are my specs:
(Upgraded) 500 GB 2.5 SATA II Hard Drive (16 MB cache)
(Upgraded) 2 x 2GB Ram -- 3 GB's usable
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz
Intel GMA 950
Mac OS X 10.6.8
Also, I have a Mac Recovery Disk that installs a copy of 10.7 onto macs. Can I use that to upgrade, or do I need to buy it?
Thanks for the help,
