G4 Agp w/ Tiger 10.4.10 reboots itself when...

I use my Kvm, switching away from the Mac, to another computer. I recently installed Tiger fresh, and this used to work with my previous install.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you.
Al Guevara

Hi Carol,
No it doesnt. And it work for months and months just fine, until I had to re-install the OS, due to loosing the master Mac login password.
Of course this may not even be the KVM at all, but being a newbie to MAC (not windoz) I have no idea where to start looking.
In Windoz, one beigns at the "event log", but In dont knw if Mac has that....
Thank you again Carol

  • T42 Reboots Itself When Moved

My T42 reboots itself when it is barely moved. The confusing thing is that it also gives a microfoft error message when it is rebooted. I assume it is because there may be some microsoft programs running in the background. I removed the keyboard to check for anything that may be loose as I suspect it may be a hardware problem. with the keyboard off, the laptop reboots itself when I barely touch the casing for the DVD drive.  Any idea! please help! Thanks in advance.

Many T42s suffer from a problem with the motherboard such that defective soldering caused some components, most notably the graphics processor unit (GPU), to become become unsoldered due to motherboard flexing that occurs when one grabs the computer with one hand while the lid is up. Do this one too many times and you are screwed. The fix is called reballing and costs $100 or more. This is a well known flaw in the T42, one of the early thin Thinkpads.

  • I changed my battery for my Iphone 4s today and everytime I put it on charge it reboots itself when the battery goes up

I'm not sure what do do, everytime the battery goes up my phone reboots itself, im not sure if its to do with my battery or the new charger or just my phone?

Check the USB port and the USB cable for any kind of lint, debris or bent pins.
    Try another, working USB cable.
If still no luck, get it checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or contact Apple Support to get it serviced:

  • IMac reboots itself when burning a DVD

I'm trying to burn DVDs on my older G5 iMac. The iMac is waaaay out of applecare range, and I replaced the HD myself when it died this year.
The drive is VERY picky about disks. It is always spitting them back out at me and telling me they're not blank. I figured out that it likes Sony -R DVDs the best, but it still takes a couple tries to get a disc in there and usable.
It doesn't seem to matter what program I use, or what video file I try to burn. I've tried Toast 8 and iDVD. The programs go through encoding, and multiplexing, and then when the burning starts, the iMac just restarts. No error messages.
I HAVE successfully burned a couple DVDs with Toast since swapping out the hard drive. So I know that the burner works at least some of the time.
Trouble shooting I've tried: Resetting the PRAM, repairing permissions, updating all software, resetting the PMU/SMU.
I have about 30 free gigs of space free, so I don't think it is a space issue.
What else can I do? As a last resort I could get an external burner, I guess.

Since I seldom use Console, if that does allow access to log files, I am not sure.
The utility, Console, does have its own Help file in the menu bar and the window
in Console allows access to several different kinds of log files system wide, I see.
The System Profiler does list some system and other log files, they are cryptic
in what they say or how they say whatever they mean. There should be a few
clues among the code-like ramblings and those may prove helpful.
In such tools such as OnyX (Titanium Software) there are ways of looking into
various system and other logs; not sure how that works. I use OnyX on occasion
to run most of the stuff found in the Automation selection, few of the other options.
Does the included Apple Hardware Test give any clues about the status of hardware?
That has been known to miss some details according to users who've tested their stuff.
A pro tech probably has more extensive testing and repair tools at his/her disposal.
Some models of iMac G5 may have some problems with Leopard 10.5.x, since a few
had graphics processors that did not do so well once upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
A few others may have had different issues; some went back to Tiger 10.4.11 from 10.5.
Sorry to not be of much help in this.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Nokia E71 freezes and reboots itself when receivin...

My phone has numerous times frozen when I receive calls. The phone has also been replaced locally but the same problem persists even on the new unit... I assume it is software related.

Battman, you won't get updates in the form of texts or e-mail. You will get "alerts" if there are any updates, if you have subscribed to the My Nokia service.
You can check for updates and install them through FOTA. Type *#0000# on the stand-by, you will be shown the current firmware in your phone: press Options -> Check for updates. If there's an update available through FOTA, you will be prompted to install it. Otherwise, you will have to use Nokia Software Updater that can be downloaded for free from the Nokia website. Another option is to take it to a Nokia Care Point, but they might charge you for the service.
    Hope this helps

  • IPad 4 (wifi+cellular) reboots itself randomly in apps.

Hi guys, I recently bought an iPad 4 and I've noticed the iPad 4 tends to reboot itself when I'm in applications, especially in high demanding memory apps like games or safari and even the apple store!
I bought it from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from an authorised apple store (premium seller) 2 days ago, but now I'm in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. And from what I've researched, Malaysia doesn't have applestores with genius bars like Australia does (where I'm from).
Today is the 3nd day since I've got it, was on IOS 6.0.1 when it kept rebooting so i upgraded it to IOS 6.1.3 (latest version) but the problem still persists, if anything, it's happening more frequently.
I've tried restoring it, soft rebooting it, nothing seems to work.
    Any suggestions??
    Luke

    Try this:
    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Why SPA122 reboots itself every hour after reprovisioning

The problem we're detecting is that this phone adapter reboots itself
when it takes the provisioning file from the server after 3600 seconds.
That should not be necessary (or at least we think it should be possible
to deactivate it), and sometimes it can cause further networking problems
if there are some other devices connected to the Ethernet port. Moreover,
when it takes between 2 or 3 minutes to recover itself from restart.
Is there any chance development team would take this under consideration?
    Thanks in advance.

Once you set up logging, there will be a reboot reason in the log.  (syslog setup below)
You can look up the reboot reason here
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9889
Some reasons the ATA might reboot.
    - reboot reason: provisioning:  something changed in the provisioning file, this can be caused by a script tagging the date and time on the file, a serial number, or changing a feature, then changing back (as Dan Lukes mentioned).
    - reboot reason: firmware update.
your device may be requesting firmware from the server, then downloading the firmware, once the firmware is installed, it reboots.  then the upgrade rule kicks in after the upgrade_error_delay (3600 in this case).
    3600
    http://XXXXX_my_ip_address_XXXXX/$PN.bin
To fix this put a conditional statement in the upgrade rule saying (if software version is 1.3.1 don't upgrade)
    ($swver != 1.3.1)? http://XXXXX_my_ip_address_XXXXX/spa122.1.3.1.bin
(verify this in the provisioning guide)
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9894
Or remove the upgrade rule and see if that fixes the issue.
in terms of sending the factory default config out to the ATA each time.
Best practise is to  test your config with factory default + minimal config.
send the minimal config for device/network (in this case spa112.cfg is the default)
send the user/phone specific config as the $ma.cfg file ( cfg-88755604a1fa.txt in this case) as minimum config.
that way the configuration and provisioning server load will be less, configuration is simpler to troubleshoot, etc.
It's really not a good idea to send the same config parms to different  devices, or different firmware versions, as the parms or features may  have changed.  Most may work, but I've seen syntax differences between  device types and firmware cause all kind of wierd errors.  You can download the SPC tool for each firmware and device, use that to create a FDefault profile, then pull your config lines from there.
Much more exciting reading the provisioning guide.
If it's still rebooting post the syslog of a boot cycle, and we'll review.
or contact  the support center at  866-606-1866.  You can create a case first, then call in with an existing Service Request number.  Just make sure you have a descriptive problem description, logs, etc attached.
To enable logging on the spa go to
    Voice --> system
add the IP address of your log server  in the debug and syslog, set debug level =3
Go into the extension  --> sip settings  --> sip debug option  to full
This will allow you to get all the sip messages between the call manager and the ATA.  Might not be required for this issue.
To set up syslog and debug through provisioning add these lines to the config
      ip.add.ress.of.server
      ip.add.ress.of.server
    3
      full
      SPA1x2 device:
    3
    IP.OF.LOG.SRV
    IP.OF.LOG.SRV
    full
! like TFTPD64.exe, but there are other free syslog tools

  • My iPod wont turn on anymore. I have had my iPod since the end of January of 2012, Last night it shut off on me. It keeps trying to reboot itself, but all it does it show the apple symbol, then the screen goes white and reboots again. I need help. :(

    Hi, My name is Cassie.
I bought my iPod off of amazon just around the end of January of this year (2012). Last night I was playing around on my iPod. Listening to pandora, and editing pictures. I got to a picture and clicked edit, and then my iPod shut off. It rebooted itself and seemed to be running as if nothing had happened. I put my music back on and went back to the picture and tried to edit it again. I clicked the edit button and the ipod shut off again. This time, it kept rebooting. It went to the apple symbol to turn on and about thirty seconds, the time it normally takes to turn on, the whole screen went white and then shut off and tried rebooting again. It kept doing this over and over again. After a while, it did eventually stop, but only to a completely white screen. It was like that all night long because I fell asleep. (gave up on it). It is now the afternoon and after I held the lock button and the home button down the screen when off. I let it sit for about a half an hour, then I tried turning it on again. But it still is doing the same thing. I have no idea what I could have done to make it do this. Unfortunalty, I am not home to connect it to my own iTunes, but regaurdless, it wont even connect to the computer. I did have my ipod plugged in the whole time it was rebooting and shutting off last night. It was connected to my wall jack which normally works fine. But even having it plugged into the computer as it is now, its still doing the same thing. I am dissapointed that I might end up loosing everything that I have on it. I have not been able to sync it to my computer to save all the apps and pictures and music I have stored on it. I really do hope I can get some help or advice!
    Thank You!!

  • My iPod Touch is freezing and rebooting itself.

    Hi.
    Here's the story:
My iPod was recently working yesterday. I left it on the wall charger for a while, and later I come back to find my iPod frozen, out of nowhere. For another while, it freezes and starts to reboot itself. I done all I can. I watched videos on how to unfreeze it and etc, and I tried restoring it, and doing about everything I can to recover this iPod, it doesn't work. So I turned it off, and let it settle overnight. This morning, I turn it on, and it restored, everything was working fine, until when I go to my Messages app, it freezes once again, and now it is doing the same thing, but this time it repeats to the home screen, freezes, and reboots again. I tried calling for support and they said my warranty is expired.
I own an iPod Touch 4G, 8GB, for about 6 months.
To be specific: It always goes to the Apple logo and then the loading circle then shuts off, then does it again. Before this problem about a day before this happened, I accidentally put a little water on it and wiped it off while I was working on chores. (Sorry, I often have it next to me a lot.) Plus, I did have a lot of data on it but it didn't seem much of a problem.
Please, if anyone can help, tell me what is the reason behind this problem, and at least if you can try to solve this for me. I will try going to a local Apple store later on if this problem keeps going. But for right now, I need this help. Thank you all.

  • After upgrading to ICS my Xperia mini (ST15i) hangs and reboot itself?

Ah I was very happy after getting official ROM of ICS but my happiness goes down very soon because now I'm facing many problems with my phone.
It is hanging most of the time at least once or twicw in a day, sometime hangs and reboot itself but sometime I have to estart it by remove the battery. When it hangs if my battery is at 90% and I remove the battery and put it back and restart it then it goes down to near about 70% or less.
Phone dial pad is very slow to open than 3rd party softwares. Back and Option key response very slow. I know this could be performance issue but this is too much.
However many apps goes to hang, mostley my browsers I wa using Boat and Dolphin HD browser and after upgrading I tries Chrome which also hangs. My phones battery drain so fast now also my phone heat too.
I tried to contact the support thorugh E-mail but still yet no reply so I'm here to ask this please help me guys. I have very slow bandwidth so please suggest me the good way to solve this problem. I don't want to downgrade but if its neccessary then I'll.

regarding the phone/dialer download Dialer One
regarding your battery life, you should check which apps are causing this
charge your phone 100% use it as you normally would then once it reaches 10%
settings > battery > take screenshots of this list an the graph, also tap on each item and take screenshots post them here
delete taskillers, antivirus, battery apps, ram apps as they slow down your phone, drain your battery and cause a lot of issues.

  • MacPro 2,1 apparently rebooting itself in the night?

    Hey everyone,
I have a Mac Pro 2,1 running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and almost daily, when I wake it up from sleep it acts like it has rebooted itself at some point during the night (login items showing). I do have it set to wake on LAN, and going back through the console event logs, it appears like it's waking itself up hourly to announce itself on the network, as it should be. But I'm also seeing indications that some of those wakes are triggering reboots, and I have no clue why.
I did recently upgrade the system with all new drives (240GB Samsung 840 SSD for OS, 2x3TB Toshiba HDDs in RAID1 for my User folder, 4TB Hitachi for Time Machine) and a Newer 2-port eSATA card (in slot 4), but the machine was exhibiting this behavior before the upgrades. I reinstalled everything from scratch at the time of the drive upgrades, so I doubt it's anything to do with the new hardware... I hoped that the clean install of everything would fix whatever was going on, but obviously it didn't.
Any thoughts as to what might be causing the phantom reboots?
    Thanks folks,
    Jeff

using an older too small UPS and have issues, of course it could be showing its age (or not) but always worth looking at.
Rosetta and upgrades - of course a day will come when Mac Pro might not support pre-Lion, right now we can dual boot 10.6.8 and Lion/ML if desired.
Not having any device connected except kb/mouse, nothing on that Newer card incl. the Voyager would reduce that as contributor.
Rosetta has to act to translate and be its own super process VM, getting rid of it was a blessing. I would "consider" a dual boot setup and have Lion... just for testing your system... unless this more academic curiosity and worry.
FBDIMMs are always worth making sure that they are not just working, but working as cool as possible, closer to 60*C and how old or what mix of size and brands are in there.
My system iwth dozen plus programs and using half the 16GB is like silk the way it handles and responds now. Never better and I attribute that to both Lion and of course SSD Samsung. I use to use an older SSD (Dec 2010) and I could not tell the difference between it and a 150GB 10K VR. Now it is night and day on the Samsung 840... Yours should be doing the same.

  • IPhone 3Gs rebooting itself now stuck on boot

    Hello,
I've had my iPhone 3Gs since February 2010 making it as of this post 1 year old and 3 months over warrantee. Last week my iPhone started randomly turning off and on again and it was happening a few times each day. It began to reboot itself more frequently, to the point where I couldn't use the phone because it would turn off mid text-message and during phone calls. I grew frustrated and decided to put it into recovery mode to restore the phone, as people on these discussion threads recommended with no luck, it was giving me an error code 29 right when it got to the part to upgrade the firmware (I believe it didn't make it to this point because the phone would turn off). I tried this several times when finally it worked! I restored my iPhone and loaded the backup I had made and charged the phone up and went about my day. As the battery drained it turned on and off more frequently and then went from 30% to 3%. It now will not charge whatsoever on the charger, or through my MacBookPro. It will not boot up at all, but flashes the apple logo then turns black and it keeps doing this over and over. Itunes won't even recognize the iPhone as being connected to my computer.
I don't know what to do. I have never jailbroken this iPhone or tampered with it in any way, and I'm very disappointed that this product is showing such huge issues after only a year of use. Right now my iPhone is completely unusable and I'm hoping that somebody has an answer for me to fix this.

On My iPhone 3GS started with iOS 4.3 and 5.0 did not improve even with the 5.0.1. When started, the device shut down at around 43% battery. Every 2 or 3 weeks the problem got worse ... 53%, 65%, 75%, 86%, 96%, 98% and 100% now it can be turned off.
I realized that if I use the internet through the 3G off at around 98%. If you use the internet through wi-fi, off at around 86%. If you use 3D games off even faster. The first shutdown can be restored by resetting the system (home + power). But after the second or third, it asks to connect to an electrical outlet, the battery even when it was full. If you make a small charge, enough to start the system will turn off at the next mark (percentages cited above). I started using the iPhone always connected to an electrical outlet (house or car).
Recently I made a painful test: I turned off the 3G, wifi and data transmission; stopped to use all the features of the iPhone, except for calls and SMS. The GPS was on, but I did not use any application that needed it. As a result, the battery lasted about 4 days and declined up to 6% (when it fell during a call). I was very glad to review the battery alerts (20% and 10%) after so many months. Then I waited 1 or 2 hours and recharged the phone to 100%. I noticed that charging was much slower than what was occurring before (and remains so since then). But until now I did not notice a difference in the problem.
Other users with the same problem say revert to factory settings did not fix the problem. There are no Apple Stores in my country, only representatives and mobile phone carriers, but the assurance of my iPhone expired in May 2011, in addition, here we have the iPhone 4S world's most expensive (between US$ 1419 and US $ 1,855), the which means buying another iPhone is a last option. Buy another battery would be easier, but I question: if the problem is the battery, why work properly when does not was required 3G, Internet, games or gps?
It would be nice if Apple responded something like "we are aware of the problem and are working on it." At least we could hope to keep until the next update.

I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button. a 2 week old computer is not supposed to do this! it wastes all its time being so flashy that it just craps out all the time. sometimes i feel like i should have stayed with my virus covered PC. at least when it shut down randomly you could turn it back on, but with the macbook pro, it just keeps restarting itself over and over. need help with this, any answers?

Help! My iPad keeps rebooting itself every few minutes (if I am trying to use it). It tells me that the iPhone can't make or receive calls(?)and that I need to restore from iTunes at www.apple.com/support. Obviously the iPad can't make or receive calls anyway.
The problem started with the wifi not working in my office building. Now I can't even get it to stay up without rebooting itself every 2 - 3 minutes. And it is continually searching for a signal, even though my iPhone has full signal. Anyone else getting this message?

I would connect it to your syncing computer and restore from backup.
