G4 and USB2 hubs

I'm looking at buying a USB hub for my G4. I belive the G4 is USB1, is this correct? The hubs I'm looking at are for connection to USB2 ports. Will these USB2 hubs work with my G4.
Thoughts, experiences & advice welcome.
Thanks

They will work at USB 1.1 speeds. This will not cause you any problems. I have a Belkin 2.0 USB port hooked up to my G4. No worries!

  • Is there a USB2 hub that can be connected on FW port?

Since there is a USB2 and FW hub for Mac Mini, which as far as I am aware connects on USB2 port (or maybe requires two feeds?), I am curious to know if the above exists. This would solve my problems of lack of USB ports on iMac and use the FW port I otherwise don't use. Any experience?
    Thanks!

I had seen this product. But which connection the hub uses is not mentioned, whether USB, FW or perhaps both?
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=199941
That won't work. That's just a USB hub and a Firewire hub in a single case. The two technologies are not connected within the box; they're completely separate.
From what I found so far, to plug a FW device into a USB2 plug via an adapter seems possible.
Such a connection would take fairly advanced circuitry to make the conversion between the two technologies and no one to date has found it sufficiently worthwhile to make such a converter. The adapter you point to at imemoryyou will not allow the connection of a Firewire device to a USB port nor vice-versa. I have no idea how such an adapter might be used, but if they're claiming that it would allow connection of the two types of busses, they're lying.

    Hi,
I am currently replying to this as it shows in the iChat Community.
I have asked the Hosts to move it to Snow Leopard  (you should not lose contact with it through any email links you get)
I also don't do Wirelss printing so I can't actaully help either.

  • Location of Openreach modem and Home Hub (BT Infin...

In my previous property I asked the BT engineer to locate the modem/HH in an upstairs study and this was no problem, no extra cabling required (master socket was in kitchen) all extension sockets still work fine. I moved home and had BT Infinity 2 installed, phone line enabled same day. The house was built in 2007 so has extensions in all the rooms. Looks like the master socket is in the cupboard under the stairs. Although the previous occupier obviously had the openreach modem and home hub located in the lounge, as the mounting screws etc were still there. But here none of the extensions work, the engineer said this is a side effect of moving the master socket. But why was this possible in my previous house?
The engineer installed with the existing screws etc and left it all in the lounge and still none of the extensions work. I'd like my extensions working and the modem/hub located in my upstairs office, how do I arrange for this?

  • Hollywood Dazzle and Firewire Hub killed FCP

I made the mistake of running DV devices through a FW hub into the same port on my PowerPC G5 and now FCP 5 won't open at all.
I've unplugged everything and reinstalled FCP to no avail.
How can I fix my problem?
System Profiler says my FW ports are still active and DVD studio pro and other associated applications still work.
    please help!

The Dazzle has anecdotal evidence of being very problematic and don't use a firewire hub in conjunction with any firewire devices and Final Cut Pro.
Do a forum search for the Guinness Solution, you may find the answers within the results. Also do a search for Dazzle and firewire hub and you'll find anecdotal evidence.

    regards
    shariff

    Hi Shariff,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications.
This should be a good starting point for you:

  • G580 external USB 2 and 3 hub connection

    G580 Windows 8 64bit
I am unable to connect either USB2 or USB3 external hubs either powered or not to the notebook. The USB2 is locked out by windows and the USB3 crashes the system until removed. Intel driver update states that all Intel drivers are up to date. Both tested hubs work on an HP Vista 32bit laptop. Individual USB devices work fully so it seems to be hubs that are the problem.  As there are only two USB3 ports available it would be convenient to use a hub occasionally. Any help would be gratefully received

I have a drive I had been using in a 2007 MacBook that I would like to "upgrade" to a compatible version of 10.7.4 (build 11E2705), but I am having trouble finding a way to get the version of the OS on the drive without affecting the data on the drive.
I had hoped that booting from the Recovery partion on the SSD would allow me to "Reinstall 10.7" to get a compatible version, but the drive still can not boot the 2012 MacBook Air.
I may try cloning next, moving directories I want to keep to the root level of the target drive, but I wish there was an easier way to "refresh" the install of the OS to a newer version for new hardware.
I also need to find a way to "refresh" the USB drive I have for installing 10.7, to make sure it has the ability to boot new hardware, since the original 10.7.4 USB install clone does not boot the newest laptops.

  • USB and Firewire Hubs

Hi All and Happy New Year,
I am trying to connect all my peripherals to my G4 iMac.
I am uncertain which devices will need USB2.0 and those that can get by with USB 1.1.
I have questions that hopefully can be answered here. I have the following devices.
    2 Epson Printers R200 and R2400
2 Scanners Minolta/Dimage 5400 film scanner and an Epson Perfect 1870 flatbed
2 External Hard drives Maxtor FW 300GB One-Touch and Lacie FW 250GB
This is what I am trying to use to connect everything.
Belkin 4 port 2.0 USB Hub
    D-Link 4 port 1.1 USB Hub
ADS Dual Link 4 2.0 USB and 3 Firewire 400
Should I daisy chain the hard drives?
Can I plug the D-Link 4 port 1.1 USB Hub un-powered into the either of the other hubs?
This hub would be used for low power devices like card readers and whatever other ones that are suggested here.
Can I plug the Belkin 4 port 2.0 USB Hub un-powered into the powered ADS hub?
Which devices need to be connected to the native USB/FW ports on the iMac?
Sorry for so many questions but I went to 2 different Apple Stores and got completely different answers.
I appreciate the help and direction.
    Thanks COVRC

    I would configure as follows.
    USB2.0 (Port 1) - (powered) Belkin USB2.0 Hub - (Port 1) R200, (Port 2) R2400, (Port 3) Epson Scanner, (Port 4) Card reader,
USB2.0 (Port 2) - Apple Keyboard and Mouse
    USB2.0 (Port 3) - Minolta Scanner
    Firewire (Port 1) - Lacie FW 250GB
    Firewire (Port 2) - Maxtor FW 300GB
I feel like I'm missing the point as you don't seem to list enough devices to use more than one hub.
