We run a PC (usb dongle),and an old lap-top (wireless card built-in) with the router.
Could anyone tell me if this router is compatible with my Mac/Airport card and/or USB dongle?
I have now bought an 'original' airport card which after fitting shows up in the hardware list in 'about this mac'. Fiddling around (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing) with 'Internet Connect' there appears to be a signal (the row of squares turn blue when I 'Apply now' in Network).
The G4 Cube however doesn't show up on the list (MAC address) of candidates on the router (where the USB dongle did).
I downloaded a couple of applications which scan for available wireless networks but nothing showed as being available.
Tearing my hair out - if I had any!!

It should work if the Router allows 802.11b, which I only see 802.11g listed.

You have to put the Cube's MAC addy in the Router. To find the Airport's MAC addy...
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.
Then click on More Info>Network, click on Airport on the top right, scroll the bottom pane down until you see...
Ethernet:
MAC Address: (six digit MAC addy)

Perplexing Wireless Router Issue! Please Help!
OK Guys and Girls, I could really use some help. I have a wireless router Mod. WRT54G ver. 2.0, and yes it has the firmware upgrade. The problem that I am current having is this, my computer can connect to the router no problem, and i can access the settings too, but it will not let me access the internet at all. It's not the cable modem because I can hook up my laptop to it and get internet. So in short the router isn't, for some strange reason, letting my computer access the internet but the router can access the web. Please any suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advanced.
Access the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter.
When it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
- Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If not ... power cycle for 4-5 minutes & then again check the WAN Ip address ..... -
Setting up HP L-7590 via usb to wireless router, help needed..!

I have been using my L7590 via lan to a wireless router for a few years... that was perfrect...
Recently I had to change router because of change of ISP. The new router is a Huawei B683... the problem I have is that this router does not allow LAN connections from the router ...!! It does has a USB port that is for the printer...
I am unsure as to how I setup the printer connected via usb to the router....
Do I use the network installation setup...? Or do I use the USB setup...??
Any help is greatly appreciated...

Connecting the printer to a router's USB port (aka. print server) will only allow you basic print functionality , it won't provide you any scan functionality, faxing from the computer, ink levels or any operation of the HP Solution Center program.
To get full functionality you must work with the provided functionality which means USB connection directly to a single PC or Ethernet connection to a router.. therefore using an Ethernet router will be the preferred solution for you.
In order to setup the printer as you described you should connect the printer to the USB port and go to Control Panel > System. click add a printer and add it through the network.. there might be a need to enter your wireless homepage to enable the printer through the USB, there might be additional setup information in there.. that veries between different print servers and you may contact Huawei support or your ISP for any assistant within the print server configuration.

I recently moved this past week and I am trying to set up a wireless internet for my Macbook Pro. At my old residence I could pick up the signal just fine, but at this new place, I can't seem to get AirPort to pick up a signal. When I go into Network and check the Diagnostics, all the airport setting lights are green except for the bottom 2 (I believe they are Internet and Server. Those 2 are Yellow.) However if I disconnect the ethernet from the wireless router and plug it directly into my computer, I do receive a wireless signal.
Do I have to reconfigure my wireless router (since I did change from Charter to Time Warner) in order for AirPort to transmit the signal to my computer? If so, how do I do that?
Any help is greatly appreciated.Can Time Warner confirm that your router is compatible with their service?
You may need to reset your broadband modem to convince it to connect to a "new" device. Depending on the model of modem, that can be as easy as removing power for a few moments. If that doesn't work, remove power and wait 15 minutes. Further reset steps can involve pressing a "reset" button or removing a battery if the modem has one. In the worst case, your ISP may need to edit its settings to update to the MAC address of the new router. -
Using Airport plus additional wireless router (help, possible?)

I'm curious to know if I can connect to an additional wireless router while I am also connected to my AirPort Extreme.
I just moved into an apartment with an existing wireless internet connection and I currently can't replace my AirPort base station with their router that is provided by Verizon. I also have my own AirPort Extreme that I connect to in order to access an external hard drive wirelessly.
As of now I have been switching between the two of them, which, as you can imagine, can be quite inconvenient. So, I would like to use them at the same time, if that is possible.
Does anyone know if I can set this up and how I go about doing it?
Thanks so much!Unfortunately, unlike the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) cannot "Join an existing wireless network."
The only other option, would be to try to establish a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) between the apartment's wireless router and the AEBSn ... but this would only work if that router is WDS-compatible. There are only a few that are. -

Hey about 4 month ago i bought a wrt54gs v.6 wireless router and i jus moved and i have no clue where i packed up the setup cd, i spent about 5 hrs online trien to find it but no luck, i checked at linksys.com/download and i downloaded the thing it wanted me to and i jus got a notepad full of numbers and letters any clue what to do next? or a link would b perfect

Go to Solution.Check the physical connection, your modem should be connected to the internet port of the linksys router, one computer should be connected to the ethernet port(1,2,3 or 4) of the linksys router...
Reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page...
See if you could open your router set-up and configure it... -
Wireless Router Help Needed! Please and Thank You
My warrenty has expired on my router, and Linksys is conveniently not able to help me get my router back on track. I have had the same problem several times, and have had the steps wrote down to fix it however, I have recently moved into a new place and conveniently lost the paper.
Usually it was a matter of just cloning my mac ID and it would work, in which I tired that with no success! Im frustrated and I need my internet for my schooling.
If anyone could help me it would be GREAT! Im not able to be on the internet to check so often as to if I have a reply on here, so if you feel you can help please call me!

Can anyone offer any advice please.
My 4s has developed an wifi issue. It cant scan for wireless networks My bluetooth is intermittent also.
I have turned it on/off, rebooted, reset all networks, reset to factory settings, set to airplane mode, set to do not disturb - everything and all to no avail.
I am under a two year contract with Vodafone and went into their branch at Merry Hill, Dudley today and they failed to help me saying it was nothing to do with them.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I have not had any accident with my phone and it is still in mint condition.
Can anyone please offer any suggestions on what to do.
Many thanks.Apple's out-of-warranty policy is a feeble attempt at covering up it's issues and is a clear cut demonstration for their lack of respect for its user base. Their WIFI/Bluetooth dropping issues have been around for several years now and it started within the last 3 IOS updates. Apple engineers acknowledge this problem and don't have a solution yet... this was confirmed at the Genius Bar at their Nashua, NH outlet. My phone is 6 months passed warranty and my Verizon contract isn't up for renewal for another 6 months.
There are a lot of complaints about this (a LOT), yet Apple continues to stick its head in the sand instead of owning up to providing shoddy hardware and/or glitches software. They certainly don't want to be in the business of replacing phones, so they put the onus on us by charging $200 for a replacement... such a deal for Apple!
Apple's support communities are basically useless on this subject with a lot of screwy so-called solutions to work around their flaws. I've seen one fix where you heat up the phone with a hairdryer until the temp warning appears and then refrigerate it for 10 minutes... then BINGO, it's all fixed! Ya right!!!
Resetting network settings, or all settings (including a complete reset) is ineffective and appears to do nothing more than to further upset Apple users once they realize that they have wasted their time following Apple's so-called fix.
I just wonder if or when Apple pulls it's collective head out of the sand will they be able to see that their competition has surpassed them by leaps and bounds. There really isn't any good reason to stick with Apple now-a-days since their conscience passed away. Their competition offers superior technology while Apple continues to impress up with new connector technology and placement of their sockets.
I am finished with Apple and am incredibly sick of their spoon feeding what they want rather than what we want.
The best way to make Apple improve is to provide them with a taste of their own WIFI/Bluetooth offerings by DROPPING THEM!
They have abandoned us and have no problem trying to charge us to replace their flawed technology instead of doing the right thing!

I have had to call linksys about once a weeek to reconnect my wirelss. It keeps going out. ( Sometimes because of storms but today for no reason I know) And now I cannot pull up the 192.168.1.1 website.
Why does my wireless keep going out and how do I reconnect to the site to try and fix my router? Can anyone help?

Hello I am having problems with my Time Capsule (2nd Gen) and being able to get the wireless signal working throughout my house. I have concluded the only step I need to try to fix this is to reset the Time Capsule.
My concern is that if I reset the capsule I will lose all of the documents off of the external hard drive of the Time Capsule. Will this happen?
Is there anyway to avoid losing these files, or is there some way to attach a USB cord to the Time Capsule and be able to retrieve my files?

Plug the TC straight into the computer by ethernet.. use a LAN port of the TC. <-->
Factory reset.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Factory reset Gen 5
Hold in reset for about 5sec until the status light flashes quickly.
If your AirPort Time Capsule still doesn’t respond, do a similar reset to the Gen1-4.
Unplug your AirPort Time Capsule .. hold in reset and power the TC back on.. without releasing the reset.. wait until status led flashes rapidly.
When it comes backup the TC will have an IP of 10.0.1.1 and the computer will be 10.0.1.2
You can access all your files on the TC.. with very minimal setup.. but Mavericks can be a right royal pain.
If the disk doesn't show up in Finder.. manually mount it.
Go, Connect to Server..
AFP://10.0.1.1 and when the computer finds the resource it will ask for a password.. type in public unless you changed it.
You should now be able to access the files.
I recommend if you have important stuff on the TC you do not want to lose.. get a USB (or faster) drive today.. plug it into the computer and make a backup.. the TC is not adequate as a NAS or file server as it has no ability to either backup itself or even have TM back it up. -
Display presenter's note! Need help again Please
Since installing leopard I cannot see the presenter's note on my screen and the slide on the projector's screen. I had wonderful advice in the past on how to do it in Tiger, I tried every configuration possible and I cannot do it.
When I click off mirror I can see the slide on the screen but not on my laptop all I see is the empty desktop. If I choose to see presenter's display then my audience sees both slides and my notes.
What am I doing wrong?

I think you need to make sure, that your notebook have found the attached monitor/projector before you begin the presentation, that way when switching off mirroring you should get a perfect picture on both monitor and projector.
To see the notes, please be aware, that you manually have to enable notes. If you have chosen the outline view and writes here, it is not presentaed as notes. In the View menu chose show presenter notes, and now you can write your notes here, and they will be displayed during presentation at the presenter display.

-- as the code stands, your second loop will never repeat, so should not be a while loop but rather an if block.
-- or maybe you wanted to assign the value of answer in rollComputer, but instead you declared a local variable, which you assign values to but never test.
