G4-dual + G4-dual connection

I have a G4-dual processor and now have another one available. Can I? if so, How can I connect the 2 G4 computers together to get the max processing output from the 2 G4-Dual? Both have latest Tiger OS. I remembering using the firewire connection.

Lenovo A916 Has Lost 'Auto-Rotate' Since Upgrade to Dual SIM/Dual Standby

When I first received this phone shortly before Christmas from a UK supplier, it did not operate with Dual Standby. Only rebooting allowed you to swap SIMs.
I have since been successful in updating the firmware build to A916_S1205_141013 which gives me Dual SIM/Dual Standby and is a lot less biased towards a Chinese user and is multi-lingual.
Google services are all there too.
My pleasure was somewhat dampened when I discovered that I can no longer 'auto-rotate' the likes of jpeg files in Gallery. I checked that the facility is turned on in Settings>Display. Apps which force a landscape format, e.g. Netflix work fine.
I loaded an app called Hardware Info which confirms that my phone has a 3-axis accelerometer, which I assume is how it knows which way up it is!
I have also used the ServiceIT app as mentioned in this forum. This confirms that my G-Sensors are working.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I could try to reinstate autorotate?
Incidentally, I got my stock firmware upgrade from www.needrom.com.

Just following up on japamac's excellent response.
ADC presents a seriously limitation on cards since the only two retail cards (no flashing, no fuss) on the market are the ATI 9600 and 9800, both without ADC.
I use a modified 9600 Pro from a G5, which has an unpowered ADC. Unpowered because the the ADC tab doesn't align, although some people have modified the card further to get power to the ADC port. For info on both of those mods, see:

There is one last card -- extremely -- I can think of with ADC and more oomph than the retail 9600: the Apple OEM 9700. That was a BTO option for the MDD. Here's some info on that card:

Again it's really rare because it wasn't available even as a BTO option for very long. They fetch a premium on the used market when you find them.
What ADC monitor do you have? I hope an LCD. In which case, something to consider is the Apple ADC-DVI adapter which will set you back $100. It's basically a kind of splitter, with a brink supplying power to ADC monitor while passing the signal from the DVI port. Yeah this adds to your costs, but gives you more options in terms of cards.
Oh more thing about 9.x acceleration which you mentioned. With ATI cards, you might need to pull an extension or library from the Extensions folder to keep 9.x from stalling at boot. I had to do that with my 9600. Sorry, I'm on my MBP now, so I can't tell you which ones. Let me know if you need/want to know which ones I pulled.

Dual cloud dual hub single tier dmvpn with backup service provider

I have a design issue with a WAN network. I have decided to use dual cloud dual hub single tier DMVPN topology (ref. to http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/netsol/ns171/c649/ccmigration_09186a008075ea98.pdf - "Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) Design Guide"). I have tested in lab 2 hubs and 3 spokes, applying the mentioned technology. Everything is OK, when the primary hub fails, there is only 1-3 seconds loss (3 pings).
The problem is that each spoke and hub will have 2 service providers for WAN - primary and backup. I am still wondering which design is better and more stable to implement - using more DMVPN clouds (for the backup service provider network) or creating static IPSEC GRE tunnels in the backup links?
Is there a guide for this case?
What is the best practice in this case?

Dynamic spoke-to-spoke requires your spoke routers to have mGRE tunnel interfaces. If you ever have a spoke which sources 2 tunnels from the same physical interface, you have a problem: how to resolve which tunnel is an incoming NHRP request for?
My DMVPN is a bit different in that the crypto is GETVPN on the physical interface. There is a crypto-map applied to the physical interface and it has 2 entries which correspond to the GETVPN crypto-groups for each tunnel.
I resolved this issue by making one of the 2 tunnels on each spoke router mGRE and the 2nd one point to point. the mGRE tunnel is preferred as primary (we use eBGP through the tunnel, so routes received through the mGRE tunnel are local-pref'd high and we AS path prepend routes advertised out the point-to-point tunnel)
I haven't gone back and tested what happens when you have a spoke which has 2 tunnels sourced from the same interface and another spoke with 2 tunnels sourced from the same interface or from 2 different physical interfaces. The concern is that you may get a situation where one router uses Tunnel 2 for dynamic spoke-to-spoke tunneling, and the other uses Tunnel1, and that the dynamic tunnel setup fails because the crypto map cannot properly decide which crypto group to use for the incoming traffic on the router where 2 tunnels use the same physical interface.

Using Xsan to carry data over dual gigabit ethernet connections?

A designer (mostly non-technical) colleague of mine has claimed that Xsan transfer data (not metadata) over dual gigabit ethernet, in lieu of Fiber Channel, with metadata flowing over a third ethernet. Is this true? Has anyone done an install in this manner? I can't find any reference of this, anywhere.
If anyone can help shed some light on this, I would appreciate it!

If you're planning on connecting to the SAN in this manner, be aware that the amount of bandwidth is MUCH smaller than fibre channel. (That's why X-SAN used fibre between clients and the SAN)
So... if you're thinking of pulling uncompressed HD through ethernet (even Dual Ethernet) you're going to be woefully disappointed.
Having said that, we regulary connect dozens of "story editors" to our X-SAN via a single gig E "reshared" connection. The secret is that we ONLY use "off-line RT" media for this connection. We've locked out our "Full Res" media from this kind of connection because it will only jam up the system and bring our internal system to it's knees. I would regard this kind of "tapping in" to the SAN as a "secondary" method, not your primary way of accessing the media.

Time Capsule Dual Band Mode Connection Timeout

So, after picking up a 500GB Time Capsule the other day I was trying to set up a network in dual band mode, I had it running with no issues for about a day, my MBP, wife's MB, and Apple TV connected with no issue. After that day I lost connection and upon trying to re-connect to the 5 GHz side I immediately get a connection timeout. It is updated to 7.4.2, and MBP, MB, and Apple TV are all up to date. Anyone else seen this or have a resolution?

Apple needs to create a configuration tool that configures all the Apple devices one owns by creating a network diagram using drag and drop symbols...

Dual-homed servers connected directly to redundant CSSs

Hi.
I have no experience with Cisco content switches and I need help with this implementation:
I have DMZ on PIX cluster, where are 3 couples of servers and I need to load balance traffic to them.
I want to connect PIX cluster to L2 switches then connect L2 switches to redundant CSSs and servers directly connect to CSSs with dual-home (primary NIC to primary CSS and secondary NIC to backup CSS). I'm not sure whether this dual home connection will work correctly. What kind of CSS redundancy ssould I use?

dual NIC does not work with server directly connected to CSS.
You should connect your servers to a pair of L2 switch and then connect the L2 switch to the CSS.

Dual Remote VPN Connection

i created three different Remote VPN connections with three different networks . i can make them one but for some reasons i don't mix all.
and iam using Cisco asa 5505 with Shrew Soft VPN software , so my problem is
- i connected Shrew soft remote vpn , if i try to connected another remote vpn connection this will not accept the second connection , so please can any one give me a remote vpn connection software that accepts more than one connection

Since you mention the ASA and the VPN I presume you are trying to connect by VPN Client to the same ASA?
Why would you want to have several VPN client connections at the same time? (Though I think that isnt even possible)
What are you trying to accomplish by these 3 different VPN Client configurations configured on the same ASA?
Isnt it just possible to configure one VPN Client connection to the ASA that would handle all the traffic of these 3 VPN Client connections?

Airtunes kills AP Extreme (dual antenna) internet connection

I've got a brand spanking nex Airport Extreme base station connected to a cable modem.
In the living room, I've got an Airport Express which is connected to my sound system and to the base station over WiFi.
Everything works fine untill I stream music over Airtunes to the Aiport Express from any Mac on the (wired) network. The internet connection drops and can't be restored but by restarting the base station.
Anybody else seen this behavior and knows a fix?
Would downgrading the firmware to an earlier verions work for this base station?

Ok, so switching to Parallels cured my dropped internet connection problem.
Now, however, I'm back to the problem I had before I bought the Airport Extreme base station: streaming music to the Airport Express station (Airtunes) results in stuttering, intermittent audio from the Mac Pro. Gah! Can't anything just work like it should?

Dual ethernet multiple connection problems

I have a macmini, an ibook and a squeezebox, all three connect to my AirPort base but only the macmini is able to connect to the internet. None of them connect to each other over the airport, and curiously only the ibook (which does not connect to anything else) is able to log in to the airport basestation...
All macs are running the latest version of osx, also the squeezebox firmware is updated.
Any Ideas? Besides reloading the airport firmware?

Well I found out that the problem probably lies with the airport distribution of the DHCP addresses. (It is currently set to DHCP and NAT and I cant seem to change that)
As I said the macmini is the only comuter that is able to access the internet ... The Airport forwards an ip to the macmini that begins with 84.xxx.xxx.xxx, the airport itself has 10.0.1.1 and the squeezebox 10.0.1.4. i reccon that the macmini ip address is wrong. However it is the only machene that is currently working. When I try to make the airport distribute DHCP only (in the range 10.0.1.2-200), it tels me that it needs a static IP (I have a cable and a dynamic IP).
The iBook is 10.0.1.3 and is not able to connect to the internet.
What am I doing wrong?
PS! The squeezebox is sort of a stand-alone airtunes that connects wirelessly to the music on my mac.

What you have observed as far as the secure traffic goes is normal.
Any kind of secure connection gets broken if you suddenly start sending data from a different IP address, so HTTPS should be bound to one interface, like you have done. I am not so sure about SSH, but if it doesn't work I'd say try it with a binding since it is also encrypted communication.
When you are using load balancing you can disable the failure detection method, it is really only meant to be used for the Failover Mode. I have seen it cause odd issues with load balancing where it disables a link for no reason. Try just turning the detection methods off on both WAN interfaces.

Mouse lagg when dual monitor di connected

Hi. This is very strange. I have i dvi adapter with a samsung 19" attached. when the monitor is on and connected all seems to be fine and works perfect but when i turn off the monitor the mouse on snow leopard starts lagging. it's very very annoying. even if it's plugged off and even if i press the source button for changing to vga. I have to plug off the dvi cable until I'll use it again and this is annoying too. I googled and seems to be a well-know problem but no one has the solution.
I have snow leopard up to date and magic mouse on imac 21.5"
