G4 Mirror HD expansion help

Hi. I'm trying to figure out how much internal HD space I can install on my MAC. Right now I have 2 - 60GB HDs internally and 3 external 200GB drives. I'd like to install a 500GB drive internally but can't find out if that is doable. Or maybe even larger if that's possible.
Also, can someone explain what Raid is?
FYI
I do a lot of photoshop/illustrator & Flash/Web work.
A smidgen of video as well.
Thanks.
Gary

Sorry to hijack this thread, just picked up a 1Gig dual to use as a RAID on my network.
And I have forgot how this ATA66 and ATA100 stuff works.
I assume the ATA100 is faster than the ATA66 (is this why you say put that RAID in that area?)
What are the size limits if any of the 100 and 66 bus? Going back to older G4 days I assume the 128GB limit does not apply to the two busses in the MDD?
What is the bus speed for the optical bus, I'm thinking of taking out the oprical drive and installing another two drive in that area, would I then be limited to the 128GB limit?

  • Mirror Effect - Need help

    I have seen a lot of design comps for mobile apps that have a mirror effect.   the phone is 1/2 reflected...  Is this an effect with Photoshop or is it more of a 3rd party template?
    Any help would be apreciated.

    Are you talking about something like this?
    It is called a 'Reflection'.
    You have many plug-ins that can do this for you within Photoshop.
    Also, you can create it manually. There are lot of tutorials. Here's one that does exactly what you see in the image above: http://abduzeedo.com/photoshop-quick-tips-13-creating-reflection

    my macbook air doesnt show airplay mirroring need a help

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    AirPlay Mirroring needs OS X Mountain Lion or later > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Your MacBook is compatible, so you have two options:
    1. Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion or Mavericks. Open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com After upgrading, you will see the AirPlay icon on the menu bar.
    2. Keep Lion and use an app like AirParrot or Beamer to mirror your MacBook Air's display to the Apple TV

  • JTree Path expansion help

    Hi,
    I have made my own jtree to load all the directories in the c drive. I am making a simple windows type browser. I allow users to select a driectory and create a new directory within it. The thing is, once this new directory is created it doesnt show up so i reinitialize the JTree to load all the directories again, and this time the new directory shows up in the directory it was created in. The problem is that before i reinitialize the tree again, i save a treepath for the directory the user is creating a new directory in., but after i reinitialize the tree i need to expand back to that path, i try using expandPath(savedTreePath) but its not working. Any ideas? Code is below.
    private class NewFolderListener implements ActionListener {
              public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
                   DefaultMutableTreeNode selectedNode = (DefaultMutableTreeNode) tree
                             .getLastSelectedPathComponent();
                   if (selectedNode == null) {
                        System.out.println("New folder not created");
                        return;
                   File temp = (File) selectedNode.getUserObject();
                   String newFolderPath = temp.getAbsolutePath() + "\\" + "New Folder";
                   System.out.println(temp);
                   temp = new File(newFolderPath);
                   temp.mkdir();
                            TreePath tp = new TreePath(selectedNode.getPath);
                   makeTree();
                             tree.expandPath(tp);
    //Reinitialize tree method
    private void makeTree() {
              try {
                   //setLook();
                   tree = new SimpleTree("C:\\");
                   //location.setText("C:\\");
                   splitPane.setLeftComponent(new JScrollPane(tree));
                   tree.addTreeSelectionListener(new TreeSelectionListener() {
                       public void valueChanged(TreeSelectionEvent e) {
                           DefaultMutableTreeNode node = (DefaultMutableTreeNode)
                                              tree.getLastSelectedPathComponent();
                           if(node!=null){
                                MyFile mf = (MyFile)node.getUserObject();
                                location.setText(mf.getAbsolutePath());
                                fselected = mf;
                           makeRightPane();
                   tree.setExpandsSelectedPaths(true);
                   //cp.validate();
              } catch (Exception e) {
         }Anyone have any idea what i am doing wrong?

    Well ive tried using the tree model, calling methods
    such as reload() reload(node) , but none of the
    reloaded the new directory which was created for the
    node.The reload() method is only useful when you have modified existing nodes.
    Use other methods defined in DefaultTreeModel to change tree structure.

  • Creating a mirrored raid set with a hard drive that already has data on it.

    I have a hard drive that I keep my photos on, and want to create a mirrored raid set that includes this drive, with its data, and another drive.  How can I do this without erasing the drive with my photos on them?  I am running 10.7.5 if that matters.
    Thanks for any help.

    Creating a Mirrored RAID reformats the drive and loads a substantial RAID driver and some tables onto it. When completed, the drive is inherently a member of a RAID set, and will continue to be so even if moved to another Mac.
    because of this, you cannot create a RAID directly on a standard drive that contains data already in any reasonable, risk-free way.
    To amplify what The Hatter has said above, Mirrored RAID is not Backup. Mirrored RAID only increases mean time to repair to keep a drive failure from becoming a Data Disaster. You still need a Backup. Mirrored RAID does not protect you from deletions from user error, crazy software, or "just because".
    I run a mirrored RAID in my Home Server, which contains all the Users files for everyone in the Household. And I also recognize (after being burned by it) that Mirrored RAID is helpful, but not a sufficient Backup by itself. I back up the Users Drive automatically to an External drive using Time Machine. [So what I am advising is not just theoretical, I am living what I am advising.]
    With WD Black 1TB  and other very good drives in the under US$100 range, there is really no reason NOT to invest in several drives for such an undertaking.

  • How to use AppleTV to mirror my iMac?

    Hi! I have just got an AppleTV and I am having troubles to use it to mirror my iMac screen
    According to the instructions I should be using airplay which I only managed to activate on iTunes
    The version of my iMac is mid 2011 which sould support airplay and thereby allow mirroring
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks
    Valentina

    Looking to your Mac OS X version, you don't have a compatible OS X version with AirPlay Mirroring (you need OS X Mountain Lion to get AirPlay Mirroring). See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
    You have two options:
    1. Open the App Store and upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion. Make a backup of your data and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com After upgrading, the AirPlay icon will appear in the menu bar.
    2. Stay with Mac OS X Snow Leopard and use a third-party application as AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com

  • All words in reverse order - "mirror" effect

    I have got N80 phone. Just upgraded to a new firmware from Nokia website via USB cable. Installation went perfect, no any failures or error. At the end i got all words in the phone in reverse order, actually with "mirror" effect.
    The phone is working OK, i.e. i can call, receive calls etc. But all words and numbers in reverse ("mirror").
    Please help. Does anybody have ideas?

    As Korngear says - re-install as you have nothing to loose. However there are 1-2 postings in the forum about this happening on other phones. No real solutions offered there tho'.

  • HT4367 Apple TV, gen 3 cannot mirror

    I have my new Apple TV, gen 3. I can mirror my iPad for the first time and then, cannot see the mirror on/off any more. No problem for music, video and photo streaming, but just no mirroring? Any help or suggestion?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Content Mirroring with WebDynpro ESS

    Hi,
    I created the ECC5 ESS package in my clients namespace.  using Content Mirroring (this works nicely).
    BUT the ESS role's Area/Group Area pages configed in the IMG still point to the standard installed ESS package. ie I nav to my ESS role click
    Is there a tool simliar to Content Mirroring for the IMG to create all the necessary entries to match my new name space?
    What is (current) best practice for webdynpro ESS? Can anyone point me to any docs? I've checked out the help but not seen anything to date...

  • RDS 2012 R2 Connection broker in HA mode SQL mirroring issue

    Hi,
    I have an issue where our two brokers will not connect to the failover database when the database fails over.
    Our setup:
    Database - 2 x SQL 2012 Standard with the RDCB database mirrored in high safety with automatic failover mode.
    Brokers/Web gateways - 2 x server duel role servers in different subnets. They're configured in HA mode
    I won't include the session hosts as it's out of scope for this issue.
    So the RD database connection string has been set to:
    DatabaseConnectionString : DRIVER=SQL Server Native Client 11.0;SERVER=server2\instance2,5555;Failover_Partner=server1\instance1,5555;Trusted_Connection=Yes;APP=Remote Desktop Services Connection Broker;Database=RDCB
    So when this was first set, the DB was failed over and it worked. It was then failed back to the correct principal but now when failed over to the Failover_Partner it will not connect.
    I've confirmed the SQL permissions and custom port aren't an issue.
    Has anyone else experienced this issue?
    Stephen Turner

    Hi Stephen,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Did you receive any specific error\Event ID for your issue?
    Apart it seems there is some misconfiguration issue for failover cluster. If connections are empty, that means broker servers are not connecting to the mirror server database, most common problem is database security in mirror server. So check all brokers have
    full access to the mirror database and mirror database saved folder.
    For more information to recheck the steps you can go through following articles.

  • IPad mirroring in the classroom problem???

    A quick question - I am a teacher using a 3rd gen Apple TV with an iPad to allow wireless mirroring in my classroom.  It works brilliantly. However, how do I prevent other iOS devices from connecting to the Apple TV when the iPad is being used?  For example - imagine a student had an iPod touch or iPhone connected to the same WiFi network - what could we do to prevent them trying to take over the screen in the middle of a lesson?  I know that I can pair a remote to stop other Apple remotes from controlling the Apple TV. Surely there is a way of doing this in terms of iPad mirroring?
    Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    Setting an airplay password, we'll restrict use of the Apple TV to only those devices where the password has been entered.

  • HT201343 My computer iMac is mid2011 but I don't find AirPlay for mirroring I only use it thought iTunes

    My computer is a iMac 2011mid but at the display I don't find the option for button airplay and I can't mirroring to HDTV with the Apple TV . I use it only with I tunes but I want the mirroring .can you help me .

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    AirPlay Mirroring requires Mountain Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the OS X download finishes, the installer will show, so follow the steps to upgrade to Mountain Lion. After upgrading, you will be able to use AirPlay Mirroring pressing the AirPlay icon on the menu bar or in System Preferences > Displays.
    If you don't want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, purchase AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com

  • Mountain Lion, AirPlay Mirroring, and multiple monitors - how to choose display?

    I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.1 with two external monitors connected via Thunderbolt.  I have a 3rd-gen Apple TV on the same network.  I can turn on AirPlay Mirroring and my primary monitor will display on my TV.  However, I would like another monitor mirrored instead.  I have looked but can't seem to find a setting to choose which monitor is mirrored.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    You can remove the Logmein sound driver.
    You will no longer be able to hear your Mac from your remote machine.
    Start Terminal and paste:
    sudo kextunload /system/library/extensions/logmeinsounddriver64.kext
    I did this long time ago because I was having sound problems on Lion.
