G4 MX460 ?????

Hi
On Live Update 2 I found bios for G4 MX460 - MS-8863-M7.I have 8863 card.Does anybody knows what is the difference between those two card's.
BTW. I could not find any info about MS-8863-M7.
And I need to flash Vga bios because my card works fine only with 28.32 driver. Can I use bios for 8863-M7?

update your card bios with the msi live thingie..
tv-in/out doesnt work out of the box with any drivers (except 27.?? and 28.32, which are, mm, crap)
i'd recommend using 30.87 drivers (download the stereo drivers from nvidia site) and newest wdm, 1.22, i think..

  • G4 MX460 -VT - capture

    I bought a G4 MX460 in September 2002 and I have many problems:
1.it does not give any TV out with the LATEST MSI or Nvidia drivers. I had to go back to (old) version 2.7.2.0 of the VGA driver to make it work. This card will not give TV output if you are using the following (new) versions of the VGA driver, 2750, 2890 or 2940 or 3100 ?
2.it dosen't work with any drivers version for video capture(nVidia WDM Video Capture drivers) I have digital camcorder JVC that it's working very well on the USB port...but dosen't with Video In. (I got the message "the device is used by another application" ...but there isn't another application I checked everything ...)

  • Geforce 4 MX460-VTP vs ECS K7S5A

Hi there - here are my current system specs.
K7S5A rev1 MoBo with NEW BIOS update (as of today)
Athlon XP 1700+ with Zalman Flower Cooler
    256Mb SDRAM
Creative Riva TNT2 32Mb AGP graphics
    Creative Live Value Sound Card
Creative Blaster 56K Modem (brand loyalty???)
    3com 10/100 PCI network card
    Hauppage WinTV card
plus a DVD drive, CD-RW drive and two HDDs
    All powered by a Q-Tec 550W PSU
I tried to replace the Riva TNT2 with a new (and tested) Geforce 4 MX460-VTP by MSI. I get 8 error beeps (VGA error) and fail to get the board to POST. Ive tried adding the new SIS AGP drivers (rev. 1.14), changing the RAM, removing EVERY component from the board and power chain (even the CPU cooler, as it doesnt need the fan) tried PCI graphics cards (which work - plus Im using an AGP card now) dropping the AGP down to 1x and nothing. I know the card works because it boots in three other machines (none of which have K7S5A boards) and I just cant get the board to POST.
If ANYONE has any suggestions please let me know, because the Geforce MX460 is an impressive card (and I only paid £45 for it) and the K7S5A has served me well this past year, and I dont want to have to choose between them. Please tell me whats going on before the geforce ends up on eBay

Well I changed my cards around abit and ended up with an IRQ setting like this :
    5. MSI MS-Starforce GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
    5. SIS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
    11. Creative AudioPCI
    11. Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast ethernet NIC #2
    11. SiS-900 PCI fast ethernet adapter
    12. SIS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
Now the problem within #5 - is that "SIS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller" appears to be my USB ports, which are onboard and I can't just move them around like my Netcard and soundcard - my GFX I can't move either, since I only have one AGP slot.
It still does the same freeze up however.
Also, I would really like to know how to remove the fan on the GFX, since I can't really clean it properly if I do not remove it. (It's a little dusty, and it will decrease heating if I get it cleaned properly)

Where can I get the 28.32 driver? I didn't find that version on the Nvidia and the MSI web site.
    Thanks

  • GF4 MX460 with only 32MB?

    Hi,
I just bought a MSI GF4 MX460, and after installing the WindowsXP driver from the supplied CD, the adapter reports only having 32MB instead of 64MB.
    How can this be?
I have also tried running with drivers from the MSI website and from the nVidia website. No change.
Motherboard is a ASUS with Award BIOS, with PIII 600.
    It only supports AGP 2x.
    Thanks.

I have seen a post about the same problem. The guy solved it by replacing the card. Might be your case too. Try Start/Run/Dxdiag/Display and see the Aprox. Total Memory. If it is 32MB, better ask the vendor to replace your card.

  • MSI MX460-VTP tv-out problems

I just buy one MSI MX460 with VIVO, but TV in/out only works with the supplied drivers (Detonators 27.20). Installing any other version only appears one cyan screen in the TV.
The same thing with video capture, installing WDM drivers 1.19 the video in don't works, only with the supplied drivers (WDM 1.11)
    Please help me!
    My system:
    - MSI MX460-VTP 64MB DDR
    - WinXP SP1
    - AMD TBird 850
    - Soyo K7VTA-B KT133
    - Micron 512MB RAM
    - SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

do you uninstall the drivers before installing the new ones?, if not try that as drivers can be picky at times

  • GF4 MX460-VTP

I bought a MX-460 about 2 months ago and have had it in my MSI K7 board, with a Slot type Athlon 500MHz. and I have had no problems with it. Yesterday I bought an MSI Turbo2 LE and AMD Athlon XP 1800+ . When I turn the computer on, right from the start of the POST there is white spots and lines scrolling all over the screen.
Windows ( 98 ) no longer boots, it loads about half way and the computer resets. I checked bootlog.txt, and the last entry was to do with NVCORE.VXD.
This is not a driver problem as it happens at POST, and in the BIOS. The card is not overclocked at all.
I am beginning to lose faith in MSI products, as I am also having problems with the mainboard too.  (No secondary IDE detection)  X(

does your psu give over 200 watts combined
you have increased power requiements by a major factor
do asearch also on the board here i swear its your board that going back to 3.3 bios fixed a lot of oddities for people

  • TV out problem with MX460

    Hi,
First I have downloaded the latest video (and capture) driver for this card. Have read the manuel, so in Nvidea Center I have set 'Video out' out witch is default off.
I have a blue screen on my tv when i set 'desktop on external monitor' in screensettings for the second monitor, otherwise the tv gives a black screen. Has someone a solution? THX!

    Hi,
Try moving the mouse pointer off the right hand side of the main screen, and see if it appears on the TV.
The blue screen you get might just be the default background colour on the extended desktop.
On the other hand, if it's a bright blue, it could be the TV's way of saying it has no video input.
    It's worth a try anyway  :D
    Cheers

  • MX460 Run dll as an App failure

    Help Help!!!
    Just built Athlon 1800+
    ASUS A7S333
    MSI Geforce 4 MX 460
    XP Pro
Unable to access MSI display properties, "run dll as an app encountered a problem".
    AppName rundll32.exe
    Appver 5.1.2600.0
    ModName mscicpi.dll
Am able to access all other display options.
Installed Medal of honor. If start in 640, runs fine. Increase to 1024, runs fine. Start in 1024, black screen-system hang.
Have re-installed card, updated drivers via MSI,NVidia and win XP update ASUS etc... Unable to find any reference in MSI or technet.
Thought rundll32 was win 9.X call???
    Any suggestions?
    THX

Tried re-formatting, but XP drivers don't recognize the card.
Tried with WIN2K Pro. similar errors.
I suspected Win98SE would run better, but it's an Athlon 1800XP chip and would run better on XP. It's all for a friend.
Think I'll recommend an ATI video card....
    Thanks anyway!

  • Problem with GF4 MX460 VTP - Module Capture from VCR

I have problem with my GF4.
When i try capture from VCR, the bottom of image has a distorsion, like a cut off peace.
I don't know if the driver, software of capture (Ulead Video Studeo 6.0), the "excellent" Windows XP Professional or simply my VCR.
    Somebody can help me.
    Thanks

    Walter,
I have the same problem. I don't think it's a software issue (unless the capture driver causes it). The bottom 7 lines of captured video seems like shifted right.
You can use VirtualDub ( http://www.virtualdub.org ) to capture, setting crop options to ignore last 7 lines.
I agree with CrazyCamel, use virtualdub and HuffYuv codec  http://www.math.berkeley.edu/~benrg/huffyuv.html
This codec does lost free compression, and is *very* fast. You can capture at 320x240 writing average 2.2 MB/s (against over 5 MB/s uncompressed). It allows you to capture 640x480 or 720x480 (DVD quality) with low frame lost (maybe none, depending on your system).
I hope these links helps you.

  • Built-In TV Tuner in MSI Geforce4 MX460-VTP ?

I notice that MSI Geforce4 MX 460-VTP has TV-Encoder Philip 7108.  People also claim that after the installation of Capture driver, the Device Manager also shows these 4 devices in Sound, Video & Game Controller :
    - NVidia XP WDM Audio Capture
    - XP WDM Crossbar
    - XP WDM TVTuner
    - XP WDM Video Capture
As I also have Leadtek WInfast TV2000-XP, it also installed these 4 devices.  Does it mean that the card already has a TV Tuner function on-board and I can get rid of the Leadtek TV200-XP card ?
However, I remember correctly that the spec for this card doesn't mention anything about TVTuner function.
    Can anyone explain ?

    Hey there,
I've got exactly the same setup.
Using the MSI geforce 4 4600 and a Winfast XP/2000 TV Tuner
Huge Problems...like I can't get the Winfast card to work.
The system recognizes it and installs the Winfast version WDM drivers. Great right?!?!?! ,
Well after installing the Winfast APP (newest version), I get no TV?!?!
I can't remember exactly where the problems started.
But at one point, my system worked perfectly.
I think it may have something to do with either installing the WDM drivers on the MSI CD or Windows XP Pro.
I've emailed Leadtek support and they couldn't find a solution. So they've asked me to RMA the card.
    Some other things to note.
After removing the card and all instances of the drivers and app. I still get errors in my event viewer...all saying that the device is not present. No !!!
If you know how to get rid of the errors...please enlighten me.
    Does your setup work?!?!?!

  • GF4 MX460 W/ Video In Problems

Ok i know the video out will only work with old drivers but the video in on my MSi won't work. I formatted and it works great but then after i reboot i see only white and black horizontal lines on the Capture screen. It used to work after format. So i said what the hey and i formatted again and it worked, but after a reboot same thing. I have tried tje new capture drivers by nvidia and also the version 1.08 WDM. Its all the same can anybody help me please? Thanks

I use the "InterVideo WinProducer" that came w/ my MSI Video Card.  It works pretty well.  Once you have it set up, you need to right click on the "capturing device."  Usually there is a list where you can select which device you want to use (e.g. a web cam, your video card, digital camera, etc.)  In WinProducer, i right clicked on the "nVidia WDM video" or somethin like that.  Then you have a bunch of options like "Video Source" and "Video Standards"  Make sure you have the right source, (TV, SVideo, or Composite) corrospoinding to what you are using.  Then check the standard, for me it was "NTSC_M." Just play around with that till it works.

  • MSI mx460 vtp tv out problem

Im pluging into my the with svideo (cable fine channel to video"
    Got the latest 30.00 driver.
    capture works OK
tv out using nview gets the signal to my tv "the reason i can tell is my tv screen turns bleu as per winXP but the tracking is way off
thats the only way how i can explane the lines
i cant see any background or icon just bleu with line ...
    i need help please

    Thanks for your reply.
I got it to work after installing detonator version 28.32. The supplied driver which I think is version 28.90 didn't work. Very weird...   :(
Anyway, since it's working now, I haven't tried switching the VGA port. The monitor is currently plugged into the inner VGA port (closer to the AGP port). I have no idea which one is VGA1 and VGA2...  ?(
I just hope that nVidia will fix this issue with the upcoming detonators.

  • Slow/Jerky Video with kt6v\sempron 2400\geforce mx400

    Hello!
I'm hoping someone out there has seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction for how to solve it.  I am putting this system together for my sister.  Here are the system's credentials:
    msi kt6v mainboard
    amd sempron 2400 processor
    256 meg ddr ram, 400mhz
nvidia gforce mx400 agp display adaptor  64meg
western digital caviar 20 gig hard drive
generic (comp usa) 52x ide cdrom drive
    lucent pci lt win modem
windows xp pro  with service pack 2
Mainboard bios has recently been upgraded to  recognize the sempron cpu.
Cpu freqency in cmos is set to 166mhz.  (is this the correct setting?)
    The problem:
When playing various video games, such as Carnival Cruise Lines Tycoon, Trailer Park Tycoon, or The Sims (all of which are great games, btw), the video is extremely choppy/jerky.  It doesn't play smoothly at all.  But it SHOULD!   As a test, if I replace that video card with an  FX5200 personal cinema, it works great!  (but there's no way I'm going to give my sister that fx5200 card!  I need the mx400 to work in this machine.)   I can put that gforce mx400 in another machine (kt4v with amd 2200xp) and it works great.  So this tells me the problem should not be with the display adaptor nor the kt6v mainboard.  But is there a compatability problem between the two?  Is there a setting I've overlooked?  I'm thinking this is probably an issue with the display drivers or the mainboard drivers, I just don't know.  I've spent the last 3 nights trying to figure this one out.  This has me stumped.
Anyone else seen this same problem and know the fix?  Also, anybody know what the recommended cmos settings are on the kt6v  when using the mx 400 display adaptor and the sempron 2400 cpu?  What are the recommended drivers/versions for this mainboard and display adaptor?
    Thanks!!!!!

    No
the GF2 came in mx200, mx and mx400.
    The GF4 came in mx420, mx440 and mx460
