G4 Powerbook needs OS9

Question

I've been researching how to install OS9 on Tiger.4.11. I just purchased this Powerbook and the person did a clean install and sent me the disc. However, I can't figure out how to install OS9. I looked here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1585?viewlocale=en_US#m9, but I'm still confused.
The disk that came with the PowerBook will allow me to boot from it, but there isn't an OS9 option that I can see on the disc; I'm taken directly to install.
I have several other bootable OS9.22 Disks that came with my Panter, and the cat before Panther, but when I insert any of these and treat them as a bootable disk by holding down the C key, they don't hold the boot; Tiger is still the active hard drive.
Do I need to start over and partition the HD so I can install OS9, and then select that HD as the classic system location, or is it possible to install Tiger and OS9 on the same HD? Perhaps I am remembering Panther being able to do this, and not Tiger.
Please set me straight.

If you have a later model PowerBook G4 which cannot boot into OS 9.2.2 or before at all,
but can use OS 9.2.2 as Classic (non-boot, setup via OS X in system preference pane) it
need not be "Installed" as such, at all. And it need not have OS 9 Drivers installed, either,
for an OS 9.2.2 version to be used as Classic under OS X, in supported OS X systems.

If your old Panther system disc with the OS 9.2 system software installer on it, is not
now in use in any other computer, and the OS 9 disc is one you own, you can use it
via a software utility known as Pacifist from CharlesSoft software (download) & extract
the OS 9.2.2 system installer from the Panther disc set and Pacifist will install it.

I've done this, no problem. You could even use the second disc (unused in any other Mac)
from an iBook G4 original software install/restore disc, and Pacifist, to get a correctly
installed OS 9.2.2 system from those discs. Otherwise, the discs will not work at all.
Any reasonably similar vintage software set with OS 9.2.2, and other bits, that you own
and if you bought an incorrect disc separate from a computer it was intended for, it may
still yield useful software if you use Pacifist to extract & install the bits from the Desktop.
Another option, is to copy an OS 9.2.2 system from some other source, an already installed
one; and you can drag/drop a working copy of that old system. It need not be cloned to use it
but it should not be a multiple copy used outside of the Apple software user's rules.
What kinds of jobs or tasks do you require OS 9.2 in the computer, to perform? Is there any
free ware or low cost good quality shareware version that could do the job without OS 9.2.2?
