G4 Powerbook screen gone crazy

I have a G4 Powerbook (15" titanium), and just recently the screen has been checkerboarding small rectangles on the bottom third when I boot up. It only does it sometimes and if I run any applications, the screen distortion gets worse and spreads all over the screen. There is a little box of rectangles attached to the pointer as well........
Does anyone have any tips or ideas as to what might be causing this?

Did you try connecting your powerbook on a different screen and check if its a screen problem or a system problem?
I have the same problems with my powerbook display recently. It flickers and slowly the colours fade out or there are huge lines going through it. Sometimes restarting helps and sometimes it doesnt. When i connected mine on another display the powerbook display was all distorted but the external screen was just fine and i could work and see my desktop clearly.

Apple store genius bar confirm Logic board needs replacing....none available for 4-6 weeks though, and 3 private repairers say parts unavailable
Check the 350+ strong discussion thread under the titanium G4 powerbook forum. This is a problem of epidemic proportions as Ti-books hit the 3 year old mark (unfortunately as most extended waranties like mine have expired!):

Rumblings from the masses that apple should acknowledge this problem are growing (the thread detailing thee "fritzed screen" dates back to 2004) so I think we'll hear more about this as the logic board shortages get worse.

Screen gone crazy (pink lines+ flickering)

I was playing dota2 and suddenly screen went bad for no reason at all, what I saw is massive horizontal pink lines with some green highlights too and everything looks like its moving up and down in super speed. Its like watching a 3d movie without 3d glasses but worse. This problem is there on boot screen also not just on windows login.
I am clueless cause both gpu's seem to be detected as working in device manager and i never rough used my laptop or even removed those plastic cover it came with.
I need to get this fixed fast, what do I do? I doubt long hours of keeping the laptop running can cause this! Can it? All i do is email and small ms office.
List of things i tried:
Restarted, updated AMD drivers chipset since my card is AMD, disabled Intel and AMD gpu one by one and restarted.

Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums. What generally causes this is the cable that connects the screen to the motherboard. It happens over time due to opening and closing and causing the cord to flex.

IdeaCentre A310: Screen's gone crazy

I've been using my A310 for 7 months without any problems but suddenly the screen's gone crazy. The touch controls (on the bottom right hand side of the screen) don't respond to touch any more, but the on-screen menu for managing the display keeps popping up and making random changes to the screen settings. I've downloaded and installed the video driver on the Lenovo support site but it doesn't help. Any suggestions?? It's making the machine entirely unusable (not least because it occasionally chooses to switch the display off for periods of up to an hour!!).
Any help or suggestions gratefully received, before I send it back under warranty.......

try uninstalling the video drivers, let Windows install its generic drivers and update the bios.
if these does not resolve it send it to the service center

My playbook has gone crazy(screen and control)

My playbook one day suddenly has gone crazy . It has life on its own .It opens tabs and applications by itself . I have security wiped everything and yet its not getting normal and functional . Its NOT when i charge ... It happens all time ... somebody please help me .. The screen is driving me crazy .. its useless now .

I've got a HP2605dn and it works great up to today. The display has gone crazy. Is there a hard reset for the printer to resent it's memory?

Looks as if you've a graphics card and/or screen problem - I would lean more towards the GPU.
You should take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them evaluate the problem. This diagnosis should be free as should an estimate for repair (if you're not still under warranty).

Regarding Safari; When I open safari everything works fine, but when I press the top sites bottom, the screen goes crazy for a second and then goes to the top sites. It is not fading or dimming from one screen to the other like it use to do. any sugestions. Thanks

Iphone 5C wifi greyed out and screen going crazy

Hi I bought my iPhone back in October in Us from Tmobile, since December the wifi greyed out and hasn't worked once (been living on data) now recently the screen goes crazy, it types by its self unlocks the phone (dont have a password) sometimes calls people etc... now the thing is I recently moved to Dubai and I cant go to a apple store as we do not have one here, so could I ship my phone to States and have apple repair it or give me a replacement if I pay for their shipping costs back to Dubai ? If not jailbroken, restore the iOS. Most likely there is a hardware problem
The warranty is valid only in the USA. Apple will not accept shipment from or ship to any address outside the USA for this phone.

after a restart it works for a time, but always slow. I went to the Applestore this afternoon and the made a check and said it would be the logicboard and they would have to change it for CHF 600 and it would be ready in 10 - 15 days

Nokia N81 8gb Screen goes crazy

ok so i buaght my Nokia N81 like in january last year and ive been using it quiet regularly....
Until today... I slid the phones slider to reveal the keys to write a text message, when the screen went crazy with funky colours and such lines and random things on the screen. If i slide it up and down while its like this it changes its effects and stuff as if its something to do with the contacts of the slider and the screen. If i let the screen black out into powersaver it returns normal but if i slide it again to close the phone or open it back up it goes nuts again.
i tried leaving the battery out but no use.
LOTS OF HELP please ?

Hi! I have the same problem as well! And this is the SECOND time this is happening! The first time I took it back to my SP, and they then replaced it with a brand new handset; that was 10 months after using my phone for the first time. Now, 8 months after receiving my brand new handset, I have the same problem again!
What was very strange to me, before it first happened, was that my slider became REALLY tight and difficult to manouevre, so I slid the screen up and down as it felt like there was something obstructing the slider, and out came a clear piece of sticky plastic film... I took no note of it, until the same thing happened to me about 2 weeks before my phone went wonky again.The funny thing is, my fiancé has the 2gb phone, and he seems to have no trouble at all with his handset, and he's now had his phone for more than a year (that's longer than I've had both of my handset before going crazy), so I'm thinking it must be a problem with the N81 8gb models. Now I need to take the phone back AGAIN, which I'm not very happy about... I don't want to have to take my phone back, or repair it, every 8 to 10 months... It's a waste of my time AND money.
Oh, and another thing... when they replaced my handset, I asked them what the problem was with my phone, and they said that they didn't know, but that they couldn't fix it! SERIOUSLY?! So now how exactly will I get to repair my phone if the Nokia technicians can't even find the problem NOR fix it?! I've basically spent ALL this money on a phone that only works for a few months until it's irrepairably broken... I don't think I'll be using another Nokia after this again...

My iphone screen goes crazy when it charges

Hey there,
Whenever I charge my iPhone my screen goes crazy when I touch it. If i'm typing whilst its charging it clicks random things and deleted what i've typed. The phone works completely fine when its not charging and I haven't had any other problems with it. I have the iPhone 5c iOS 7.1.1 (about to update after this post).
If anyone could help me that would be great!

I have the same exact problem and I use an Apple charger and lightning wire cord. Resetting the phone doesn't work and neither does shutting it off and turning it back on. It is infuriating to say the least, especially because this stupid phone spends more time on the charger than off. The battery is crap.

Has Anyone Found a Solution for G5 Fans Gone Crazy?

First of all, let me say that I am a long time Mac user going back to the Mac Plus days so I think I am fairly experienced in the ways of the Macintosh.
I have a G5 Dual 2.0 ghz (Original Version) that is two years old and until last month has worked fine. Then I started getting Kernel Panic every day and the fans have gone crazy, revving up and down until I want to scream.
My local Apple authorized dealer does not seem to be able to fix this problem. They have installed a new Logic Board and 600 watt Power Supply and over $700 in labor in this machine. Nothing has helped and they seem to suggest that I have a software problem. I do not agree with their assessment. I could have bought a new computer for what I have spent so far. As I type this, the fans are screaming full blast.
On the internet, I have found lots of similiar G5 fan problems but nobody seems to indicate if they were able to get the fans to stop racing and act normal again.
I have tried the normal suggestions, Engery Setting to Highest, reset the PRAM, erased my hard drive and reinstalled OS 10.4.6 several times, logged on as a new user. Nothing seems to help. Fans just will not settle down.
I bought this computer as a DEMO model and did not receive the Apple Hardware Monitoring CD. Does anyone know how I can get this disk? Perhaps, it could tell me what is wrong.
Looking for any help with this problem.

Sorry to hear about your problem Robert.
Since you have already started a hardware process with Apple, it's best to just deal with them. We users really can't do much.
I'm sure software has been eliminated by now in your repair process.
The verison of Apple Hardware Test on your install disks is no longer compatible with your firmware and OS version. Only Apple Store folks and techs would have a recent copy. I'm sure they ran it several times by now.
Take your machine back and say it's not fixed, remove your boot drive so they would have to use their own. Try another boot drive and remove the first.
All we can really do.

Gps gone crazy after 7.1 update

Hi everyone.
I ran my daily routine on a standart route. But after last ios update (7.1) my iphone 5's gps receiver gone crazy. I'm using Runkeeper for keeping data. But I've tried runtastic and moves too. Its all same. I attached a screenshot, so you can understand what I mean. I hope you can solve this problem quickly, because I'm losing money each day that I miss my commitment on the app "gympact".

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset
