Xperia tablet Z won't boot up after latest update, the update crashed half way through. Tried plugging it into the mains, red light comes on and Sony logo keeps appearing and then the screen goes blank.
Red light also keeps going off when screen goes blank, then comes back on.
Battery was approx 75% when update crashed.
Tried the reset by holding the volume up and power key but no avail.

  • HP PAVILION NOTEBOOK A9J83EA#ABU MODEL G6 1371ea. Notebook wont boot up after bios update.

I am using windows 7 Home Premium ........Whever i restart my notebook,i received the message corrupt or missing bios(501) and was advised to go to www.hp.com/techcentre/start up... i was advised to update my bios, which i did but when it got to the part of shutting down to restart it froze on the "shutting down" screen for so long that i cut the power in the end. Now i cant get my notebook  to boot up. I only get one light which is white and its located where i insert the power cord.
    PLEASE NOTE:
Before this happened, i did get the error message a few times prior and whenever i updated my bios, all was fine for a day or so...then i would receive the message again. If i logged off from windows at all ...or all power was cut from my notebook, i would get the "black screen" problem where the caps light would flash etc. but it would stay in that state for just minutes, then i would hear the fan kick in and windows started up normally from there. I opted to try a system restore and discovered the option wasnt available to me so i took  the notebook to my local repair store and asked that they upload windows7 home premium again to start from afresh. All was well from that point and then once again, i received the error message about the bios so i updated it once again....from that update, ive not been able to get my notebook back on. This happened 5 days ago and ive posted everywhere without a single response....please help

I saw your post regarding the problems with the BIOS. I would start by doing a Hard Reset to see if a clean restart helps get you going. The only other thing that you can try is Restoring the BIOS to go back to the previous version. What program was prompting you to update the BIOS?

WAIT!!!  I did an update last night on my phone and it crashed...
I am so tired of having problems, darn.
    OK here is what happened.
I connected my phone to my pc and to PCC which was working fine.
I then ran the firs stage of the update and followed the steps exactly as they required.
Midway through the update it stopped and notified me that the update has failed and that i should check my internet connection, but the connnection was good (Internet is not a hardline its a wifi modem connected directly to the pc.), thereafter i followed the steps as i was instructed to disconect my phone and restart my computer. once i tried to connect my phone again to my pc or PCC it kept on failing to connect.
Have you got any sollution for this?

    dandy69
i cant connect wireless at all as my phone doesnt want to turn on.
i have tried to reboot using the volume up and power button as well as the little red **bleep**.
but when i turn it on it only shows the sony logo and then a notification that the software update failed.
thereafter i am strugling to connect my phone to my pc, PCC also doesnt pick it up.
    Any suggestions?

my iphone 6 wont turn on after i updated it and it doesn't work to restore it in itunes. what should i do?

    Hello ole-gunnar,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is unresponsive after updating your iOS version, then I'd like you to please follow the troubleshooting below.
If you see a black screen
You might need to charge your device before it can turn on. Plug in your device and let it charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad), then try turning it on.
You should see a battery icon while your device is charging. If you continue to see a black screen, reset your device. If your device doesn't respond when you press buttons
Your device might not return to the Home screen when you press the Home button, wake from sleep when you press the Sleep/Wake button, slide to unlock or power off, or it might appear frozen. Try these steps:
    Restart your device.
If it still doesn't respond, or if it doesn't turn back on, reset your device.
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

If you still need help after trying the steps above, contact Apple Support.

  • HT204204 my apple ipad wont turn on after i updating software

sir,my apple ipad (16gb) wont turn on after i updating software correctly.so still this off position and cant any work.please help me

You took a backup on your computer's iTunes prior to starting the backup, or you have a recent backup ? And you have all of the apps that you had on the iPad in the Apps part of your computer's iTunes library - none of your iTunes downloads are included in a backup (that contains apps settings and contents), the restore will look to pick them up from your iTunes library.
To restore select the iPad on your computer's iTunes and either do File > Devices > Restore From Backup
Or on its Summary tab in iTunes click the 'Restore Backup' button

  • Loud beep after restart after Safari update

hi all everything is fine. But there was a loud beep when MCP had to restart after Safari update today. Should i be concerned? Like said everything is working fine. And this was the first time i heard such a beep. Its always been the regular chime instead.

Roger: That article applies only to iMacs.
True but I'm willing to bet the same (at least for the tone heard) applies to the MBP too. Let me see if I can find an advice letter that states that. In the link I suggested earlier there is a link that leads to:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1557
That advice letter does refer to MBP's so it's feasible the same advice is true for MBP's. At least that's my logic.

  • Powerbook fails to startup after Safari, Java, QT Updates

I have a 15" Powerbook G4 with OS X.4.2 and just ran software update, while connected to the power supply - it is not running on battery power. After installing the QuickTime, Java, and Safari updates (it has been away from a network for a while) I got the click Restart screen. After clicking Restart the computer shutdown. I hit the power button, heard the hard drive spin up for a few seconds, then a little squeak, silence, then nothing. I tried to power up with option-command-p-r thinking maybe I could reset the PRAM. Same result. I powered on and inserted my OS X.4 DVD (mistake here) and held down the C key. No change, but now the DVD is stuck in the Superdrive. I then tried the ctrl-command-power button until I heard the long tone, released the keys, then nothing. I've also tried removing and swapping the RAM. I should also mention that I get no power light on the front of the powerbook. If I hold down the power button for five seconds I get the long tone and rapidly flashing power light, then the HD stops and silence. I'm guessing the machine is dead. Everything I have read in my Apple Service Technician course manuals says that this is a sign of logic board failure. (At least I have AppleCare).
Anyone have any ideas? I also installed the updates on a G5 and now it has been freezing up at various points and the only way to fix is hold the power-button for 5 seconds and then force a shutdown and restart.
Any help is appreciated, as I found nothing like this on the Apple discussions or tech info. All those issues report at least making it to a gray screen, mine stays black the whole time.

hello, I'm having the same problem w/ my PB, i did an update too isight, which i dont use, but just to keep the automatic update in silence! lol, well I'm waiting for some help too, but if u have a CD stock inside try this, press F12 (eject) right after pressing the power button, i hope this give u a little help

  • Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....
Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.
I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Martin.

    Hi mate,
Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really wont boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.
I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and its just some BIOS related thing.
Hope your machine will work again..

  • Boot fails after security update

    Greetings,
In installed the most recent security update this morning, and after restarting, my machine won't boot up.
I've followed the existing threads (in case you've also had this problem, the most informative was here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1545171 )
Here's my machine's current state; I'd appreciate any input!
I booted to single user mode, and checked the disks using /sbin/fsck -fy . there were no errors reported.
I booted from my Install Disk 1, repaired the disk (again, no errors), and verified the disk.
Now, it still does not boot independently; it stalls at the apple logo. Safe boot does not work. It doesn't appear to be a PRAM or SMC issue.
What should my next move be? Thanks again!

There are no guarantees, but following this procedure when installing updates and upgrades on your Mac, or even re-installing them, will go a long way towards avoiding unpleasant after effects and ‘post-update stress disorder’.
It is also worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
So before you do anything else:
If you can, make a full backup first.
Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO or security update from the Apple download site. If your car runs on gasoline you would not want to fill the tank with diesel, so don’t try to install the PPC updater on an Intel Mac!
If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.4.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them 10.4.10. compliant. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 3.
N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta. If Safari 3.1.1 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 3.0.4 (or worse still, version 2) when running 10.4.11 or 10.5 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.1.1 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail and Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, and may entail you having to reinstall an earlier operating system.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them.
Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • N97 wont switch on after V20 update!!!!!

I updated my N97 to V20 this eve after waiting a long time to finally get it. For starters I had to get my old PC out the cupboard to be able to do his as if I try and update with Vista 64 there is apparently no update available, works fine with XP though!
So  finally update, everything goes OK on screen an update says its finished successfully. Unfortunately the only life I get from the brick that was once my mobile is a constant vibrate 'feature' with no display and now a quick vibrate when I press the power button.
I've tried a hard reset, no joy! The charge light doesn't even come on when I plug it into the mains charger. And the USB cable gives no joy.
Has anyone else had this problem? And did you find a way of sorting it? Gonna have to send it away and get it sorted, back to a spare Samsung D900 at least it works!
I think this is definitely bye bye Nokia! You are useless!!!

Sounds like a corrupt firmware. Remove your Sim Card try booting it up.. like the previous person said remove the battery for 30 mins.. then try and boot.. if nothing then re-insert the sim if you can finally reboot it then "reinstall the Firmware" if not take it to a nokia care centre to be reinstalled. Just to let you know I had the same problem.. my phone would boot to the "nokia" name but not the hands and it'd stay like that over night if i let it.. I removed the Sim and Memory card several times about 10 in total before i pulled everything out and left the battery out for 30 mins to try and remove any temp caches. Booted it up with the sim out and BOOM it loaded.. then chuckled my **bleep** off when i HAD to turn the phone off to put my sim back in.. dun dun dun!!! Wont boot back up -.- so figured corrupt firmware left the battery out again and then put my sim back in to boot it up reloaded it and then reinstalled that damn firmware!

  • Powerbook won't restart after security update

I can not get my Powerbook G4 to restart after the latest security update. It acts like the hard drive is not there. What can I do?

The first thing to do would be to boot from the Install & Restore disc that came with your machine by:
    1. Inserting the disc, pressing the power button, and immediately after the startup chime, press and hold the C key until you see the spinning gear icon appear on the grey splash screen.
    2. After the machine has booted, pick your language, and when the Installer window appears, do not press Continue, but go to the Utilities menu in the menubar and open Disk Utility.
    3. In Disk Utility, choose your normal startup volume in the pane on the left and then click Repair Disk. If any errors show in the window, run Repair Disk again until you see 'The volume appears to be OK' in green.
    4. Quit Disk Utility, quit the installer and attempt to restart into your regular startup volume.
If that doesn't get you anywhere, you may need to re-install the OS from those disks.
