[G40-45] OneKey Recovery 8.1, Partition Problem

Well, So.. the problem is i already resized the C Partition, now i cant do a OneKey Recovery
I want to resize it back, but i forgot the initial size..
Maybe someone can help me?
~Thanks
P.S : Lenovo IdeaPad G40-45

For a total hard drive restoration, using Acronis would be your best option.  As you suspected One Key Recovery will only image the system partition which isn't much help if the hard drive has to be replaced.

That is indeed unfortunate. You will need to order a recovery disk set from HP or an HP Partnet. Here is how to order a recovery disk set.

  • OneKey Recovery 6.0. Problem with back up operating system from recovery cd'ies

Hello, i have problem with back up operating system from recovery cdies.
When i acceped start button to backup partition system i get an alert "space not enough"
I had linux before and i whant change it to windows back. i deleted all ext partitions. I have all unlocated space.I shouldnt have problems.
    Please help me

I would use something like Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director to first create a FAT32 partion for your C: Drive where your OS will go and be sure to leave 10GB or so unallocated for the secondary FAT32 Partition where your "factory image" will go.
You then create a Logical Drive with the unallocated space and make it hidden (PM or ADD will do this).   Install your OS (preferably Windows XP if you want less problems) and then after you have setup everything the way you want (drivers, applications, etc), then use Acronis True Image to create your "factory restore" image on the hidden partition and activate the Startup Recovery Manager.
This is the way I do it and it works like a charm!

  • G560 PXE error; OneKey Recovery seems to work, but then I get BSOD upon boot

I've got a 3-year old G560 and a few days ago, I ran into a PXE error out of the blue. I didn't really change anything about the computer's setup, and it may have been caused by commuting the laptop.
I already went through the whole F2 setup regimen of disabling network boot, changing over to compatible mode, trying every combination of boot order, etc.
When I was in compatibility mode, I was able to get the OneKey Recovery to work. There's no DVD involved, seems like it's stuck in that partition. I never set a restore point, but I didn't mind a factory reset. So I did the OneKey factory reset and it took about 15 minutes and it seemed to be okay, but then when I try to start the laptop, it will show the Windows logo, freeze there for a few seconds and then it flashes the blue screen of death for a split second (impossible to capture the error codes).
If I try it in safe mode, it shows the files that are being loaded, and it BSODs right after classpnp.sys
Now, I guess my main question is if OneKey will appear to work and yet maybe the HDD (hard drive) does not work. Could it be a matter of just replacing the hard drive? I did pull out the hard drive and re-mount it. Also the motherboard and re-mounted it. Is the OneKey function separate from the hard drive?
The laptop is so old that I wouldn't want to invest much money in its repair (warranty is past expiration date), but it's also been my daily computer, so I wouldn't mind if it was just a case of replacing a hard drive. With these problems, would it just be possible to make Ubuntu into my primary operating system by using an install disc?

    hi stophammertime,
    Welcome to the Forums.
It looks like you have some bad sectors on the HDD that's why the OKR didn't work or for some reason, OKR worked but the bad sectors corrupted the OS installation files. To verify this, you will need to run diagnostics on the HDD (try ultimatebootcd as it has diagnostic tools for ever brand of HDD's)
Also, the OneKey Recovery runs on a hidden partition on the HDD (usually the last few sectors of the drive). It's possible to trigger the OneKey Recovery if the partition structure isn't damage but if the target drive has bad sectors (i.e. Drive C:\), it may fail to image the drive or corrupt the installation files.
If verified that you have bad sectors on the HDD, you will need to replace the HDD and from here, you can:
    1. Use a recovery disc to restore the default OS (this is only psosible if you have created one using this method)
    2. If you can still read the COA product key at the bottom, you can burn an ISO copy on this website and use it to clean install Windows into your PC (if you get issues activating Windows, try to activate by phone).
    3. Scratch Windows and use Ubuntu as you're primary OS.
    Hope thish elps

  • Partition Management in the Presence of the OneKey Recovery System

I am currently using a G550 2958 Model Laptop, from the Lenvo 3000/Essentials Notebook Series.  This laptop came with a feature called OneKey Recovery, which I have used to create recovery disks for my computer, using 2 DVDs.  My problem is this: I wish to install a Linux operating system on my computer, but Lenovo filled the partition table.  Here is a summary of the partition configuration:
First Partition, Unnamed, Primary, NTFS, 200-300 MB, boot flag, houses Master Boot Record
Second Partition, "C", "C:", and/or "OS Drive" (running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1), Primary, NTFS, approximately 187 GB, contains Windows installation and personal files.
Third Partition, Unnamed, Extended, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, is a container for:
Logical Partition: "Lenovo", Logical, NTFS, approx. 30 GB, lba flag (which I take to mean it's bootable), contatins data and drivers necesarry for operating the OneKey Recovery System in respect to creating images and usage of the NOVO button.
Fourth and final Partition, "LENOVO_PART", Primary, NTFS, 13-17 GB, hidden service partition used for OneKey Recovery.
My question is this: I'm aware of the fact the OneKey Recovery will cease to function if I resize or delete any partitions in that I will not be able to create backup images or recovery disks, but since I have already done so and have no further need of OneKey, will booting the recovery disks automatically restore OneKey functionality after deletion or resizing of recovery partitions?  In essence, will disabling the OneKey system through partition management permanently remove my ability to use recovery disks, or no?
    Solved!

Hi willbuntu and welcome to the community,
Here's a thread where we were experimenting with resizing partitions and deleting them.  I made a full backup with OKR on an external hard drive and made the recovery discs.  I deleted D: and resized C: and installed Linux.  I was able to restore the system using the recovery discs.  The discs resized the partitions and put everything back the way it was from the factory. Then, I restored from my backup and everything was back the way it was when I started.
Make sure that the discs that you made will boot okay.

  • OneKey Recovery 8.1: hidden partition(s)

Apologies for yet another question about OneKey Recovery (OKR) but after a day spent reading posts here and elsewhere I am lost as to how (if at all) it is possible to use OKR 8.1 to backup the system and hidden partitions so as to enable recovery to a new HD.
System is B50-70 delivered 30/12/14 but built October 2014 with Windows 8.1 64 bit and OKR 8.1.0.2326.
When I run OKR it offers me System Backup.  This backs up the Windows OS  (C:\).  I can see no options to backup the existing hidden partition or to create recovery disks/drive which would include that hidden partition.
    Am I missing something please?
If not, is my best bet to dig out my Acronis?

For a total hard drive restoration, using Acronis would be your best option.  As you suspected One Key Recovery will only image the system partition which isn't much help if the hard drive has to be replaced.

  • Formatted all partition - Yoga 13 - HOW work OneKey Recovery ?

    Hello.
I made ssd drive formatted in yoga.
    I deleted all the partitions.
    I used to create partitions 100GB-system 20GB-recovery
    I installed windows 8.1 profesional
20 gb recovery -. Chcialbym aby dzialal program "OneKey recovery".
When I run the system with "One recovery" is a system normally runs.
How do I install OneKey Recovery ?
Comunicat:  This   system does not support the backup

    hi mikey94025,
In addition to what mikey94025 have suggested, are you using the Yoga 13 in Tent Mode?
      - if you are, the Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework (DPTF) feature is probably the one that's causing the slow performance.
    Can you try to:
    1. Disable the Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework (DPTF) under BIOS - this feature can dynamically configure the power limit while the Yoga 13 is used in different scenario (i.e. on Tablet/Tent mode,  the power limit is set to 10W).
       - to go to the BIOS, navigate to the UEFI Firmware Settings inside Windows to boot into the BIOS.
       - inside the BIOS, navigate to the Advanced Tab > DPTF Configuration and set it to Disabled.
       - when done, press F10 to save and exit BIOS and observe it in normal mode.
    2. To check if the SSD's health, try to download and install HD Tune and run an error scan.
    Hope this helps

  • G570 & Onekey Recovery Problem

New to this and not very knowledgeable.
I have a G570 laptop and have tried to use onekey recovery, however it will not create the backup as there is insufficient space on the D drive.
I have spent some time searching the internet and it various artcle suggest my C drive should be small and my D drive large, on my machine they are the other way around.
How do I get this to work?

    hi gordon,
as you may notice, it's because of the small d issue and recently all of the 3000 serie computers come with app. 30 gb d volume. if you want to create backup, i suggest you to burn the disc, use external hdd or clean-up the d volume.
there are some ways to change the partition sizes but after that one key recover may not work ( if you are using 6.0 version, it won't work, for 7.0 it may work )

  • Windows 8 Reset, Lenovo OneKey Recovery, Partitions - confusion

    Hi everyone,
    I have a few questions - I have a Yoga 2 Pro:
    1. I created a separate partition for my documents on the hard drive. If I use Lenovo OneKey Recovery will that destroy the partition?
    2. Following Question 1, will the OneKey Recovery run successfully given the existence of said partition?
    3. I assume that the OneKey Recovery image on the hard drive provided by Lenovo includes all their software (OneKey Recovery, Energy Manager, EasyCamera, etc). If I use the Windows 8 Reset feature will that software still be installed or will it be a completely clean OS - as if, for example, I were to acquire a windows 8 ISO and use that for installation?
    4. Where the heck is my Windows 8 Product Key?
    Thanks in advance,
    - ice

    Great
Is there any way I can fix this? Without having to spend $?
EDIT: The other thing I should mention is that I used Windows itself to create this new partition. DISKPART gives the following:
    DISKPART> list partition

  • Disk Partitioning and OneKey Recovery for U410

    Aim:
    1. i want to create a C: partition for my system installation. Preferred size: 100gb
    2. i want to create at least 1 other partition (D: ) of 500gb to store personal data
    3. i want to be able to do a system restore using the OneKey Recovery that will leave my D: partition untouched
    4. find / get help to get this done
So what i want is to create different partitions, seperate my OS from the rest for more efficient backup and restore and don't mess up the OKR, OEM, installed and stored drivers etc. of default installation.
    What i did:
    1. i didn't make any changes to my system. Besides a few installed programs my laptop is almost new and untouched
    2. i read many posts and threads to find an answer, this one, this one, this one and some more.
    3. i contacted the lenovo technical service desk here in Ukraine ("sorry we can't help you, what you want is not officially possible")
     My system:
    Lenovo U410-3rd i7-3517U NL14/ 8G/ 1TB+24G (MAH9GMH)
    Windows 8, OEM
    OneKey Recovery 8
    My disk setup:
    Link to picture
    What i don't understand:
Why put the operation system on this huge disk?
Moderator note; picture(s) totalling >50K converted to link(s) Forum Rules

I found a solution online to repartition drive C and add the spare capacity to drive D named Lenovo, whilst still retaining the Onekey installation. However it was easier to just create a new partition for my data from drive C, and leave the Lenovo partition ( about 28gb ) intact. I now have three visible partitions ( Drive C - D - E named Lenovo ). Onekey recovery cannot now restore the default as I thought, as drive C is now a different size. But I am able to create a saved state and save to drive D or E AND a copy to a separate hard drive through the USB port.

  • G580 OneKey Recovery Backup Creating Problem

    Hello everyone,
I have a G580 laptop for almost two years. In this February, I had to send it to the authorized service and it came back to me with a new-reinstalled Win8 64-bit, like it had. Before I sent it to the service, I was able to create backup files in both default location and external hard disk. Since it came back to me, today I tried to create backup file for the first time and opened OneKey recovery. I only have 130 GB of data at most, so it takes around one and a half hour. When it reached up to almost 70%, it gave me an error saying "Cannot access the files" and the process stopped. I tried two or three times more after restarting the laptop, but the error didn't change. Then, I tried to create another backup file with the same name in the same folder after a failure, it somehow took about 30 minutes, which was supposed to be the remaining time when the error was given. And the backup was completed, it said.
Now, I have two questions :
Is the backup I could finally create reliable or not? Or can i restore my backup from it for sure?
    and
What is the reason for the error given and how to solve this?
    System Information (if necessary):
    Lenovo G580
    Win8 64 Bit SL
    Intel i5-3210
    4 GB Memory
If any additional information is needed, I can provide.
    Thank you !

  • Lenovo G550 Service Partition problem

    Hello,
I've bought Lenovo G550 (without OS) and by mistake deleted my Service Partition, which contains files for OneKey recovery utility. I've searched forum, but hasn't found anything exact.
As I've searched, I've found out few things:
    - If I change any partition size, OneKey is no longer working
    - Only service support can fix this problem, in some countries I've gotta pay
I'd like to ask you for help. If there is any chance to DIY (do it yourself), just by downloading needed files and creating new partitions with required space.
I'd really appreciate if someone was there to assist, or just providing some more information about this problem.
    Sorry for my English.
    Thanks a lot !

there are about 113 backup wsi file, the one with number 34 seems damaged. for factory backups there's another issue with it. did you make any changes on volumes? cause if you did, one key recover and one key recover button will stop working.
in normal circumstances, eisa part is not visible. i'm not sure if it works if you copy files to usb.
if windows vista installed, run one-key recover 6.0.
already got backups, skip "back up" otherwise click that.
select full backup, quick compression and next >
choose the path or leave it default and next >
    and start.
after back up ends, restart the application one-key recover 6.0
click "create recovery disc" and next >
select the backup you have and next>
this screen will tell you how much cd or dvd you need, min 2 dvd or 8cd, max 7 dvd or 28 cd. and next>
insert the blank cds or dvds into driver and wait until done.
you may need the system image, you can lose your back-up cd, or cds may not working after a while, so , i still recommend that you keep the original copy or more than one backup.
size of recovery cd depens on how much size of disk space you use. its up 2-7 dvd or 4-28 cd.

  • IdeaPad U330 shows a blue screen and then shuts down while trying to Backup using onekey recovery

I have a brand new Lenovo IdeaPad U330 2267-58U preloaded with Windows XP Professional. After I installed some application software I tried to use the Onekey Recovery (from the Start menu) to create a backup of my system partition (C drive) for the first time. For backup mode I chose "Full backup" and for Compression Type I chose "Quick compression" (I tried the no compression option and it didn't work either). I then clicked the "Next" button and left everything unchanged as the default setting (backup location set to the D: drive). As soon as I clicked the "next" button, and then the "start" button, the screen turns blue and the system reboots. The system then reboots with the blue disck-checking screen.
Any fix to this problem??  I haven't been able to create any back up for my system or create a recovery disc so far.

  • OneKey Recovery System wiped out my hard drive - Please Help with RMA

Hi, I just recently got an IdeaPad S12 netbook.
Last night I tried using the OneKey Recovery System to restore the hard drive to the original factory configuration.
Unfortunately, the restored process did not work and I had to shut down the system.
Now, on boot up, I just get a blank screen with this message:
"Remove disks or other media.  Press any key to restart"
I cannot boot up in to Windows, or even run the OneKey process again.
I know there has been a documented problem (on forums, not in actual documentation!) that the OneKey system cannot run after hard drive partitions have been resized.  However, it is truly a defect in the software to corrupt the entire drive, instead of providing a warning and blocking the process from continuing.
Today is my last day in the 21 day period to get an RMA.  I called customer support and they will only issue an RMA with restocking fee.  They say I have to go through tech support and have the case documented and approved, including physical inspection (if necessary I think), in order to waive the restocking fee.  Considering the OneKey software can produce such disastrous results, I should not have to pay the restocking fee.  It seems like a waste of everyone's time and money to send the laptop to tech support, instead of just allowing me to do the return right now.
I'm hoping someone from Lenovo can help me get this RMA approved today and not deal with tech support or restocking fee.  Right now I have a 3-pound brick instead of a functioning laptop.
    George

    Georgewsu,
Thanks for the pointer on the documentation - I'll see what we can do to make it more clear that changing partitions can inhibit OKR from functioning properly.
Systems with no optical drive like the S10 or S12 can be more challenging when trying to recover from this sort of thing - there is a balance, perhaps in expecting a user to get a USB external optical drive and burn recovery media if they are going to change the partitioning of the drive and making netbook class systems available at this price point.
Without intending to sound too harsh, I'm not sure why Lenovo should fairly absorb the cost of the results of the changes you made to the product.   If you return a product,  we are going to have to refurbish it, re-image and resell at a substantial discount.  When you consider the time, the shipping costs, and what we will subsequently get for the product, we are well in the negative territory on the deal.
I think what might be more fair is to contact support and see if the depot can reimage your system under warranty.  If so, your system functionality will have been restored - you keep a quality system, and everyone is happy.   If you then want to customize your configuration, I would suggest getting a USB optical drive and burn recovery media before making more changes.
    Best regards,
    Mark
