G4050 color of scanned images is wrong

Hello,
I am using the Scanjet G4050. The color of the images I scan in are terribly off. I'm not talking about negatives or slides... I haven't begun to tackle those issues yet. The cartoon images I draw and scan in are way wrong. Is there a patch or recalibration? Thank you

This can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.
You can disable color management to test if the problem is the color profile on the computer.<br />
You can set the pref gfx.color_management.mode to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox to make the change effective.<br />

Caveats: The new QCMS color management system introduced in Firefox 3.5 currently only supports ICC version 2 color profiles, not version 4.

well, most of my scanned images are imported as JPG's, and exported as .tiffs, and they're put in final cut express. The problem is that when I put it in sketchbook pro, and make a layer beneath to color, it doesn't color it...

  • How To Fix Color Registration in Scanned Images

    Hi --
I have been struggling with a problem, one that may have a relatively simple answer, but I'm just not enough of a PS wizard to come up with it.
Here's the problem. A lot of my PS work is on scanned images from newspapers. These 4-color images often have out of register colors. Here's an example:
This example is particularly bad, with all the registers out of whack (not the colors intruding in the word balloon, the skin tones not staying within the lines of the heads, etc.). I assumed I could fix problems like this pretty easily by switching the image to CMYK, and then nudging the C, M and/or Y channel contents around a little so that they'd line up properly. But I found that this seemingly obvious and simple solution didn't work at all, because as you can see in the Y channel:
it not only contains yellows, but also the yellow component of black. So if I select everything non-white in the Y channel and nudge it into place, this is what I get:
Now I have created a yellow 'shadow' of all the black portions of the drawing (especially obvious in the word balloon in this example). So I'm obviously going about this the wrong way. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

  • Scanjet G4050- How to scan multiple slides at one time with Image Capture

Using Scanjet G4050 with Mac and OS 10.6.  Thus using Image Capture to control scanner.  When using the slide template for 16 slides, Image Capture only allows me to select one slide at a time.
Is there a way to fill the template with 16 slides and have Image Capture scan all 16 slides without having to select each one in turn?  It is a real pain to have to direct each scan.

    Hi jpbear
I am going to take credit for finding the solution that the HP Photo Suite from OSX 5 works in subsequent Mac OSX. Look at this web page.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4019&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3236...
If this doesn't work for you, I am willing to guide you to finding the page. I downloaded a copy a few minutes ago and it was still available. The Photo Suite is actually an amazing set of applications but the one you want to use with your HP ScanJet  G4050 is HP Scan Pro. I continue to use it with OSX 9 but other people have reported that it continues to work with OSX 10 as well. It allows me to scan the 16 slides on the bed individually with one pass. It also has some colour balancing function.

Here are a couple of ideas:
    1. (my favorite) - connect the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable for virtually the same functionality, more speed and fewer connectivity issues.
    2. Reset by turning the printer off, holding # and 6 keys while and for a few seconds after turning it back on.

  • Please help - I need help working with a "curved" scanned image!

    Hello --
I've been looking here for a while and finally got around to registering because I have a question. I'm sure I have this posted in the wrong place, so don't jump me for that - I'm just not sure WHERE I should post a question / plea for help.
I have a shape (kind of a wavy 3/4" stripe) that I need to reproduce in photoshop. I was able to take the original and scan it into my computer. Upon scanning, though, the color it no longer solid but actually looks a quite a bit speckled, and the edges of this stripe tend to not be 'crisp" and it need to redfine the edges. I need to repaint the stripe, and it has to remain the same 3/4" diameter all through it's length.
If anyone can suggest a way that I can take this scanned image and redefine the edges so I'll have a "new" crisp, solid colored stripe, that I can keep the same 3/4" width and then will be able to highlight it and repaint it would be appreciated. I tried highlighting the shape and applying a thick "stroke" around the edge but this just made it worse -- kind of like using a pen on a piece of paper on top of glass -- almost impossible to write or draw smooth! It's for a small model airplane decal, so the edge needs to be sharp and crisp.
Thanks for any help in advance!

    ¨Hi Henry,
I'd use the Pen tool and trace around the shape in order to create a Vector Path or a Vector Shape. But, you'd need to study the black art of Bezier curves first.

  • Restoring .dmg image from external to Mac HD in Disk Utility: "Unable to scan image (Input/output error)"

    Hi guys,
So I've got a problem with restoring the image backup I did (using Disk Utility) of my 500GB HD on my MBP which was acting weird or maybe even crashed a few months ago. After creating the backup image and putting it on my external device, I installed Mavericks back to see if everything was alright (mainly the HD) and everything seems okay.
I did try restoring the backup image through disk utility before installing mavericks (thus erasing everything again on the HD) AND after. But nothing..
The whole process starts fine and then it starts scanning the image when after maybe a good 10-15min in I get a message that says that it was unable to scan the image. I tried verifying the disk(s), everything came out "OK". Also tried scanning it through Images > Scan image for Restore... with the same results.
While searching I've seen people getting messages like "Unable to scan filename.dmg (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to scan filename.dmg
(Internal error)" but none have (Input/output error)
    The screen grab is below.
I also came across something about using terminal/commands but I'm not that savvy with it, especially considering that those there had issues with either mounting or trouble finding the image.
I've also tried moving the backup image to a different external device 2TB and also the desktop because I read it may have to do with the format of the externals or maybe free space. But THEN I would get a message saying
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mac HD Backup.dmg" can't be read or written. Error code -36"
Fyi ALL my externals are HFS+/Journaled and the backup image format was compressed.
I REALLY don't know what to do next. Was it the wrong move to create a dmg image? Have I lost everything? Is there still a way out?
    If anyone can help, THANKS!

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

  • How to highlight / draw onto a pdf document that is a scanned image, then save the added elements

    Hello
I'd like to add markings / little annotations or highlight as if with a color marker various sections of a scanned image that has been sent to me in pdf format, which I visualize with Adobe Reader 9 on my PC (Windows). I need to save the changes and then send it back by e-mail to the original sender.
So far I've been awkwardlky making copies of my screen (PrintScreen function) of each individual page of the pdf document, then pasting them into PowerPoint slides, then using various PPT drawing and textbox functions to add my stuff to the, now, PPT file, which then I sent back as such. This is very time-consuming and ridiculous and there's got to be another way of adding these changes within Adobe Reader or another similar software, doesn't it?
Again, the pdf docs that I need to work on are scanned images (medical charts), not actual copiable text (pardon my ignorance of the correct terminology to explain this).
    Thank you for your help,
    Falingo

    So the solutions are:
    1. "Buy Acrobat"....which Adobe Acrobat ?....Stanard, Pro, etc (...obviously I'd like the most basic and cheapest...which one is that?)
    or
    2. "Enable doing that in the Reader"....how exactly am I supposed to do that?

  • Need help editing scanned images of old photo album pages PSE 9

Before I begin this project, I thought I'd get some advice from someone who has undertaken a similar project.  I have three photo albums from the 50's and 60's.  The albums were made by my mother who mounted the photos (mostly black and white but some color photos) on construction paper (of various colors) using the corner holders or glue.  She hand cut the construction paper so each page is not a perfect rectangle ( about 11" tall, 8.5" wide).  The pages were punched and put into a three-ring binder.
She added text to the edge of the photo and/or to the construction paper.  Each page contains one to 6 photos and text.  Each album has about 120 pages.  I want to keep the notes on the construction paper so I scanned each page into a TIF files, 400 dpi and stored the images in a separate folder for each volume.
I use (poorly) PSE 9.  I see it has a auto straighten/crop feature that can be used one photo at a time.  I tried the divide scanned images function and that did not fully separate all images on the page and also created an image for stray objects on the page such as an unused corner holder.  (I know those things have a better name but it escapes me now.)
I plan to create photo books for my siblings.  I am now thinking of cropping the image of each page (rather than each photo on the page) into a uniform size, adjusting levels, contrast and sharpness, saving this image to a JPEG file, and using these edited JPEG images to create the photo book.  Since each page was hand-cut, there will areas of white where one page was torn or cut smaller than another page.  Some pages will have blanks where old photos have been lost leaving behind only the corner things.  It won't be perfect but it will be an image of the album as it exists today.
    My questions are:
The pages are about 11 by 8.5.  Does anyone know a photo service that prints photo albums in a portrait layout in this size?  I  have been unable to find one; it looks like most online photo books are wider rather than taller.
Let's assume I use a company such as Shutterfly that offers a 12x12 format.  I assume it would be better to edit the images in PSE9 rather than any online software.  What should I do to keep the proportions in the current images true but make the image fit a 12x12 page, for example?
IS there any other editing software anyone can recommend that will speed this up, hopefully a software that would take multiple photos at one time, auto-straighten and auto crop to a set size?  And also auto contrast/level/sharp.  If I could use such auto features on these images and then go back and adjust the photos that did not play well with the auto features, that would save me time.
I appreciate anyone's input.  I dread doing this but we have one set of photos and 5 siblings so it has to be done.  Thanks!

    Hi,
Mentioning your issues one by one:
    1) PSE does not have any portrait Photobook available, so your thought was the best way to get the work done is by choosing the 12x12 - shutterfly one.
    2) PSe does a good job of editing the images. You can set your images of approx. 11x8  size to fit to the 12x12 page. Just choose a one photo page Layout for the page and then right click on the image to " Fit photo in the frame".
    3) If more edits are required for the image, you can easily go to Advanced mode and edit your photos, layouts, move the frames, images or add effects to the images.
    4) Photo book creation sure takes time. because, you want it to be the best. I am sure PSE would help you best here.
Go ahead and create you photobook. Inc ase you get stuck somewhere, you can always post here to get help!
    Cheers,

  • Disk Utility - Scan Image for Restore - Freeze

I backed up my wife's iBook by starting her computer in target disk to my iBook which has a huge external attached. After about an hour, the image process was complete. Apple disk utility help says next to scan image for restore (not too sure why because I'm not restoring anything unless her drive dies). I begin the scan image for restore and get the progress bar that never shows and progress. Just keeps spinning/scanning for hours and I have no option to shut if off. Can't move external to trash because it in use, etc.
Does this mean the original disk image may be bad? Do over?
I'm using Disk Image as a solution for a total disk backup if a drive fails. No messing around with reconfiguring apps, etc. (i.e. plug and play) Is this the best way to do this?
I come from the Mac Plus days. Hopefully I can contribute to the new OS discussions at some point. Thank you much!

What format is the external drive?
    Is it Firewire or USB?
Does the external drive have one of those front button touch things, like a My Book?

  • Changing colors of an image in real time

    Hi,
I am trying to get an image raw data in an int[] array using getRGB() in order to change the color of the image.
But it is working fine in simulator for any image. if i install it in real device say Nokia 6600 the getRGB() method is not working for large .png image like size (88X57) because the device gets hang while we are using large image but it is working fine for small image.
Pls give me some idea how to use getRGB() for large image.
    Following is the sample code
    int imageWidth = img.getWidth();
    int imageHeight = img.getHeight();
    int[] raw = new int[imageWidth*imageHeight];
    img.getRGB(raw, 0, imageWidth, 0, 0, imageWidth, imageHeight);Thanks in advance

Use the AI CONFIG to set up your acquisition.
Use AI CLOCK config to set up your timing.
Use AI TRIGGER CONFIG to set up your trigger.
Use AI CONTROL to start the DAQ (use TOTAL SCANS TO ACQUIRE = 0 for unlimited scanning.
    repeat (While loop)
Use AI READ with a NUMBER of SCANS TO READ = 0. This tells you the backlog (how many scans in the buffer)
Use AI READ with NUMBER OF SCANS TO READ = to the backlog number from above. (this empties the buffer)
Process the scans received into your image - append to previous data and re-display.
If you are doing a fixed number of scans, add this backlog number to the total done so far, and see if you're done. If you're doing continuous, skip this step.
Wait 100 mSec if you can, 10 m
    Sec if you can't.
Loop (until # scans done >= # scans wanted OR Quit button, whatever).
Use AI CONTROL to stop the DAQ.
The idea is that the DAQ operation happens in the background. You just ask how many are available, and then read that many and use them.
You wait 100 mSec to allow the display update to happen.

  • Ability of changing color of scanned books

    Hi
I scan book by scanner in Photoshop and afterward i insert scanned pictures in MS word doc and then i use Acrobat Pro 9 for making PDF.
I downloaded some Ebook that was created in PDF.
There is a likeness between my PDF and those PDFs:
Both made by scanned pictures of paper books. their stracture only made by bitmap images.
There is a diffrent between my PDF and those PDFs:
When in prefrences -> (accessibility --->Document colors Option):  i changed background color:
    1) in my ebook background of scanned images will not be changed and stay in white color!
    2) in those ebooks background of scanned images will be changed to choosed color!
    for exam this link: http://txt.ir/ebooks/science/computer/programming/PHP_FA/PHP_FA_(www.txt.ir).pdf
I want to create Scanned PDF ebooks with ability of changing background of sccaned images!
Please say me how i can create such ebooks?

    Hi
before this post i ask one question.
I think my question is about acrobat pro settings and file format and not about photoshop.
    Please notice:
I can unlocked one page of one scanned PDF ebook.
link 1: is original unlocked pdf:
    http://www.4shared.com/file/165219386/7995c426/white_is_not_deleted_unlocked.html
link 2: is a PDF made by  deleted white space and make a transparent gif:
    http://www.4shared.com/file/165219387/e92f4b0/white_color_is_deleted.html
    also i attachet that files.
Please download both links.they are less than 150KB.
for compare open them in adobe photoshop.
you see link1 is a photo that white space has not deleted.
but link2 is a photo that white space has deleted.
white color in link1 like link2 in accessibility will be changed by order of adobe reader users!
I want to make PDF ebook by scanning real books.
if i want to delete white space it use very time.
but it seems in link1 scanned file save in one file format that give ability of changing white space in adobe reader.
also i think we must change some settings in adobe acrobat pro for this ability.
    please help about this.
    thanks.

  • Scan Image for Restore?

I created a disk image last night to prepare for my upgrade to Snow Leopard and then this morning moved to the final step of "Scan Image for Restore" and I was wondering if anyone had any insights into how long this would take. It's been running for about an hour now and the progress bar doesn't show any progress, just shows the fast moving blue hashes in the bar. Is this normal, or is it possibly hung up on something? Note, the light on my external drive continues to blink, which makes me think it is doing something, just not sure if it is progressing and this just takes several hours, or if something is wrong. Any help is appreciated.

It can take a very long time, depending on size of the Image, and even slower via USB.
I think a much faster, better, more useful method is to clone your drive, then you'll have a bootable version of exactly what you have now.

  • How to convert yellow background from the scanned images of a complete book

I am having a pdf file having approx 500 pages, it is having scanned images of all the pages. the gound of these pages are yellow due to very old book, i want to remove this yellow ground from all the pages in one go, please guide me. i am using CS6 standard.

You would have to open the pages one at a time using File --> Open and then use the adjustment tools. If you use e.g. the Levels adjustment's whitepoint eyedropper, this could be as easy as one click. You would then save each adjusted imaghe separately and then later re-assemble them using Acrobat or similar tools to create a new PDF. Generally there could be a million pitfalls here, though, such as:
the scans being inconsitent and thus each adjustment looking different
the adjustments being too agressive and eroding the text
the adjustments requiring lots of manual intervention
additional cloning and painting being required to remove stains or fix holes
In any case, it's not going to happen "in one go", no matter what. You will have to spend considerable time on this if you want to do it right. Perhaps you can extract the pages by using File --> Save Pages as Images in Acrobat and then batch process them, but beyond that I don't see muich in the way of automating or streamlining the process. This is something one typically would do already when scanning the books by using a color chart and a high quality scanner that can calibrate itself based on this reference chart for each page...
