G41m p28 Sleep without fan ?

I can't get my PC to sleep under Win7; the fan stays on.
The manual says:
if the mainboard has a System Hardware Monitor chipset on-board, you must use a specially designed fan with speed sensor to take advantage
of the CPu fan control.
I've checked the 4-pin CPUFAN and the control pin is blank with 3 only wires to the fan.
Does this mean it cannot sleep without the fan on ?
I have read elsewhere that certain USB pins can be selected so that the whole board powers down on sleep, but I can't find anything that matches that description in the manual.

You need to set the ACPI Standby Mode to S3 instead of S1 in BIOS Setup.

  • G41M-P28 video problem

    Hi!
My video driver keep restarting in games.
First I had an Ati Radeon HD 5450 512MB but read that G41 boards don't really compatible with Ati cards higher than 5xxx so switched back to my Radeon X1600 256MB but the restarting still don't stop.
It is pretty random, with the 5450 it restarted for about 10 times in 5 min then was fine sometimes even for a few hours, sometimes it isn't restarted but the screen stayed black and needed to restart comp.
With the X1600 it restart less times and sometimes I could play for hours until it crashed, also when the driver fails it less likely restarts, usually just go black screen and comp locks or get blue screen.
Without cards its more stable but even with the integrated video it restarts or freeze sometimes.
Do I missing some bios or jumper setting? I bought the comp pre assembled a few months ago so the components should be compatible and be able to handle at least an old X1600. I tried XP SP3, Win7 32B, 64B, installed the newest drivers every time, tried both win update and manual install from the official Ati website but nothing worked.

The webshop I bought it from sold dozens with the exact same config and they are still one of the best rated in eBay.
The shop may have a very good rating, because they have friendly personnel, good prices, deliver fast etc. etc., but that does not mean the stuff they sell is any good.
Your CIT-450W PSU is junk, that is for sure. And your Colorsit 420W device is not only old, but of very low-quality as well.

even the lower priced Corsairs are too expensive
That may be, but you have to understand that it is impossible to pay £12.95 for a 450W PSU and expect it to be a reliable power supply.  Mate, this IS actually the most important component in your while system.  Every single other component depends on it!

I'm not quite sure if it's really a psu problem.
You cannot be sure until you test a device that is not some low-quality china cracker without manufacturer support.
Bring your system into a computer shop and let the people there test a proper PSU.  Then you know for sure.

    Hello.
I am new here and a have a problem, if somebody who know can help me.
A have a motherboard MSI G41M-P28 and i want to buy a graphic card and i want to know what type of graphic card will work without problem on it.
I read many discussion on this forum and it look this MB is not compatible with PCI Ex 2.1 because he had just PCI Ex 1.1. Please help me with some recomandation of graphic card to can run the newest games without problems. Someone said it work better with nvidia than ati? it is true? And what type of PCI Ex is working 100% with it?
    Thanks!

    Wonkanoby is THE expert.
If you can still get a GTX460, that would be an excellent choice. Alternativley look at the GTX550 or GTX560 series. Nothing the 560 won't play at reasonable resolutions.
Your budget will determine what you want to spend. If you have the money, go for the 570.

  • Macbook pro will not wake from sleep without shut down?

My macbook pro 2007 will not wake from sleep without holding down start button and then restarting? Is this a serious problem?

You can Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
You can run the Disk Utility> Repair Disk from Recovery ( command R on start)
if that does not sort it I would reinstall OS X

  • Using wait or sleep without a thread

Is there any method to do the equivalent of a wait or sleep without using threads?

You have a single-threaded application executing, and
you want to pause it at a given location for a given
period of time. If you call sleep, you give up
execution, which you don't want to do.What do you mean by not wanting to give "up execution"? It is the scheduler of your OS that decides when your program executes or not. Your code snippet does nothing but burn processor time (incidently pretending to the scheduler that it actually has something useful to do) which could be well used by some other process running on the computer. Use Thread.sleep instead, thats what it is there for. If you want to somehow affect the amount of processor time that the scheduler allocates to your process you will be better served by increasing its priority.
having my skill and/or intelligence mocked Well, I have certainly not mocked your skill nor your intelligence, god knows that I have on occasion presented poor solutions in this and other forums, but lets not dwell on that...

  • 48Port Gigabit switch without FAN

    Hello,
is there any 48Port Gigabit switch without fan in the actually Cisco SMB productlineup?
    Best regatrds
    Monika Javet

There won't be a small business switch which is gigabit without a fan.
    All models;
    SG300
    SG500
    SGE2010
    SRW2048
All mentioned units are the small business 48 port units, they all include fans.
You may consider SG300-28 or SG500-28 for gig swithches without fans.

  • G41M-P28 Overclock?

I just bought an MSI  G41M-P28 as a replacement for another board that has been working well several years.
I am not a serious overclocker, but the whole point on the Intel Core 2 Duo range was that you did not have to be.
On my old board I just made one change in the bios, saved changes and rebooted to find my PC ran substantially faster.
When I saw the MSI Bios I thought it would be the same, but no, it just would not boot.  On my old board it two resets would automatically undo the overclock, on the MSI it seems to take about 5.
I tried to increase by just 1mhz and it did the same so obviously this is not going to be as easy as my last board.
So is there an "eejiots" guide for this board, for a simple overclock as it seems I have to change more than one thing (my old board did it all automatically)
I am not interested in doing anything that will damage it, just a simple overclock, my last board ran overclocked for years with no problems.
    I have DDR3 PC3-10600 1333Mhz ram and an E8200 CPU

To say this first G41M-P28 is a low-end board not meant for oc so it won't work great on that task. If no oc at all is supported probably you haven't a E5800 properly supporting bios. Upgrade to latest version (with old cpu installed and no oc).

  • G41M-P28 support for 3TB hard drives?

Does G41M-P28 mbd supports 3TB hard drives, for example Seagate ST3000DM001. os is WIn7 x64. Thanks!

    Unfortunately I need 3TB as backup drive for 2 x 1,5TB disks
3TB HDD on G41M is gambling.
But what do you mean with "I need 3TB as backup drive for 2 x 1,5TB disks"?
And why don't you use 2 x 2TB if you really need that kind of backup?

  • When sleeping the fans spin up to maximum

I've got a G5 here at work and when I put it to sleep, the fans turn on full blast, and stay that way until I wake it up. Any ideas?

Hi TopoTone! I'm new to the Apple Forum & have joined to glean some info about a hardware issue similar to the one you described!
Minor difference is that my G5 fails to wake up when I hit the power switch so I have to shut down! The fan maxing 1st happened once about 6 months ago for several hours then then slowed down & resumed normal condition, almost silent. Only system malfunction I've noticed recently is the desktop switching between 2 alternating images on each new startup. Also the display preferences randomly switch occasionally.
I've been unable to load Classic since the first system update after installing Tiger which is annoying but not a major issue as I run OS9.2.2 on an older G4 Power PC
I've owned this machine since January 04 & it's been rock solid since then & has only been showing signs of stress recently. I read a response to another topic which suggested gathering of dust as a possible culprit for such a problem as we are having. I can see this making sense as it would make the fan work harder. But why when the machine is sleeping?

  • IBook G4 spontaneous sleep without warning

New iBook G4 1.5GHz (Oct 2005). Occasionally, the machine spontaneously puts itself to sleep without warning. (The usual "please connect your A/C adapter" dialog does not appear.) This happens even when the battery is nowhere fully discharged. The machine will not wake from sleep unti the A/C adapter is connected, and the lid is closed and opened.
Related item: We purchased a different unit (identical model) in Aug 2005 which initially exhibited similar symptoms. However, that one was worse, because it would sometimes shut itself down completely. That is, it didn't just go to sleep, it turned OFF. A couple of rounds of repairs (including a logic board swap) resulted in no resolution of the problem, so we exchanged it for a new unit, which has not exhibited any of the same problems.

    Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about your issues with your iBook. I'd suggest calling AppleCare while you're still within the 90 day complimentary phone support and taking it up with them before you're out of warranty (making the assumption you didn't buy AppleCare of course).
That way if your iBook is defective (which it might be), it's better to get it taken care of quickly and while still under warranty.
    Best of luck!
    -Ryan

  • G41M-P28

Hey there, new here on the forums, actually just for this question, I hope you guys can help me.
I got the G41M-P28 some time ago, and I know the G41 chipset doesn't really allow OC.
However, on the box it says: Support DDR3 800/1066/1333(OC), and this raised the question if it actually is possible.
Whenever I do any OC, it won't boot and stay stuck on the bios thingy, and I have to reset the bios  .
The board obviously can't overclock, but why do they put it on the box then?
    Am I missing something?

The memory speed is linked to the FSB on the G41.
The Q6600 is running on 1066 MHz so the mainboard will set the memory frequency to 1066 MHz (533 MHz DDR).
Adjusting the FSB/DRAM ration in the Cell Menu of the bios could raise the memory speed. Not sure which options are available but you could try the first step above 1:1 to check if that running fine.
Keep in mind that the G41 offers limited overclocking capabilities. Updating to the latest bios could help in this case:
