G42 processor speed problem

I have a HP G42 i5 Lap top with 4GB RAM working on Windows 7 32 bit operating system.the problem ocurred since 2 months. When I working with the charger there is no any matter. But just plug off the charger processor increase to 100% and can't do any work. Its become like stuck. Then charger replace back(plug in) the problem is solved.I have format my lap and reinstalled windows. But problem has not solved. How can I recover my laptop. Please tell some guidlines. thanks

Hi,
have a look at the Energy Options of XP (from Control Panel) and set the energy scheme to be "Desktop".
Might be set to a scheme more appropriate for a laptop (battery useage or the like).
Hope it helps

  • Reducing Processor speed for Power problems

I have already replaced the power supply in my G5 20"iMac under Apples self-install program. That problem was resolved (no power), but now the computer has been unexpectedly shutting off and has frequent high fan noise . I reduced the processor speed and it has been usable. I plan to take it to an Apple Store because my 1yr. waranty is almost up, however, my serial # falls in the Repair Extension program for Video and Power issues.
I am hoping they will diagnose on the spot and order a new logic board or whatever. I do not want to leave the computer at the store while a part is ordered as it is usable.
Does anyone know what I can expect at the Store?
And, in general, can anyone tell me what happens when the computer is used with reduced Processor speed.I have not really noticed a difference, but I think I am just masking the problem.
    Thank you

    Hi
If you do decide to go with a processor upgrade, they're available from a number of manufacturers including Giga Designs, Sonnet, OWC/PowerLogix/NewerTech and FastMac:
    http://www.gigadesigns.com/
    http://www.sonnettech.com/product/cpu_upgrades.html
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/accelerators/
    http://fastmac.com/
Most of the above web sites have more detailed information about their processor upgrades and downloadable installation manuals and/or videos, so you can check compatibility and what's involved in replacing the processor.
Here in the UK the Sonnet upgrades seem the most readily available and are available from the following stockists amongst others:
    http://www.macheaven.co.uk/
    http://www.macupgrades.co.uk/store/
I've also ordered from OWC in the States before without any problems. With the good exchange rate you may save some money, although be aware I've always ended up paying some form of import tax, so the savings aren't as great as you may expect.
If it were me I'd consider a 7455 based OWC Mercury Extreme upgrade:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/accelerators/OWC-Mercury-Extreme/
They seem to be highly recommended, compatible with OS 9.2 and OS X and don't require any third party firmware patches or kernel extensions etc. If you click the More Info button for the 1.467-1.5GHz upgrade, you'll see some benchmarks comparing it to the stock 400MHz processor.
Another option would be to look for an original Apple dual 450MHz or 500MHz processor card on eBay that's been pulled from a Gigabit Ethernet model. Assuming your computer's compatible with dual processors (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/13551), it would offer a modest speed boost.
    I hope this helps.

  • Odd problem relating to processor speed

I'm hoping that there's some simple fix to this, because it's a simple problem in all honesty.
Usually, when using my iBook I often switch between the "Highest" and "Reduced" processor speed options, depending on what I'm doing, where I am, etc; however, recently a problem has popped up. The speed of the system seems to be "stuck" in Reduced mode, regardless of whether I put it into "Automatic" or "Highest" again. I've checked the temperature, and sure enough - it doesn't even go above 50-55 degrees Celsius, whereas on "Highest" it would happily go up to 70-73 degrees Celsius if I was needing the processing power.
I'm seeing formatting as an option, but would really rather not if I don't have to... Completely open to suggestions.

Try resetting the PMU. Do that by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Wait 5 seconds and start the iBook.

That's a kernel panic and indicates some sort of problem either with the computer's hardware or software. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. It would help to post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
Meanwhile, try booting the computers into Safe Mode then restarting normally. If this is simply a disk repair or cache file problem then this may fix it.
You can also try creating a new admin account on each computer then booting into the new account. This would help determine if the problem is related to a bad file in the user accounts.

  • Fan speed problem Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC - please help

Please HELP, I have a fan speed problem with my Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC
This is a NOT an Intel machine. I am running Mac OS X v10.5.8
    Power Mac G5 - PowerMac 7,2 - Power PC 970 (2.2) - 1.8 GHz with 2 CPUs - L2 Cache (per CPU) 512 KB - Memory 8 GB - Bus Speed 900 MHz - Boot ROM version 5.1.5b1
I have included below Links to download a sound file (.m4a) that I recorded of the fan speed problem and both a .pdf and .spx files of my system profile.
    download sound file

down load .pdf file of my system preferences
    http://homepage.mac.com/rep3/filechute/systemProfileREP3-G5dual.pdf
When did the fan problem start?
After I replaced the mother board on the computer.
Why did I replace the mother board?
Because the experts at apple agreed with my diagnosis that the major crash problems & kernel panics must have some thing to do with a logic board gone bad. They would not work on it, because this Power Mac G5 dual 1.8 GHz machine is now a legacy model.
What I have done to attempt to fix my fan speed problem? yes I checked the obvious things, here is a list:
    1) yes I checked to be sure that the new mother board was the same part number as the original one, and that all things that were unplugged from the old mother board - were actually plugged into the new mother board.
    2) all the fans work, I can see them spinning if I use a flashlight and look at them (cover on and off to get at some of them)
    3) check all RAM to make sure: a) it was installed properly b) that the RAM worked using TechTool Pro c) even started the machine with only the original RAM that came with it.
    4) I installed a Temperature monitor - to see if there was something reading as very hot inside that was causing the machine to continually run the fans at a high speed. No, no heat issues that I can see. Here are the reading from the sensors in degrees fahrenheit, 2009-10-11 16:11:01 -0500
    CPU A Die Temperature: 75.7℉
    CPU B Die Temperature: 81.5℉
    Drive Bay: 68.9℉
Main Logic Board Air Inlet: 64.8℉
    Main Logic Board Ambient: 73.6℉
    Main Logic Board Backside: 76.3℉
    Memory Controller Heatsink: 93.2℉
    Processor Card A Ambient: 77.5℉
    Processor Card B Ambient: 77.0℉
    5) zapped the PRAM
    6) followed the SMU reset instructions for
    Power Mac G5 (Late 2004)
To reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer, simply do the following:
    • Turn off the computer by selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu or by holding the power button until the computer turns off.
    • Remove the power cord from the computer.
    • Wait two minutes.
    • Plug in the power cord.
    • Turn on the computer.
    7) followed the SMU reset instructions:
    Resetting the Cuda/PMU
    How to reset the PMU:
    • If the computer is on, turn it off.
    • Disconnect ALL cables from the computer, including peripherals and power.
    • If possible, move the computer to a place where you are not standing on carpet.
    • Open the case and ground yourself by touching part of the metal frame inside the computer.
    • Find the Cuda or PMU button
    • Press the Cuda or PMU button ONCE. Do not press the button more than once before starting the computer up again.
    • Wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the cables you removed in step 2 and turn the computer on.
    • If the computer still does not respond after resetting the PMU, the computer may require service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
    8) ran disk utilities, repaired permissions
    9) found a setting in the system preferences that a chat room person suggested had something to do with fan speed. In Energy Saver, under options, processor performance was set to highest, I set it to automatic - this did not change anything that I could tell - BTW I checked my other G5 (a single processor that works fine) that is the setting that that it is set to, and it is nice and quiet.
    10) restarted the machine, ..
    11) found a Fan Control System Update - but it did not install when I tryed to install it -
    12) booted from OSX install disk and ran that disk utility
    13) used OnyX to fix disk permissions, clear caches and temp items
Nope - still have the same high speed fan problem. ... PLEASE HELP!!
I have been reading in the MacInTouch reader reports - found this: some one said to use this - thermal re-calibration using the Apple Authorized Service Providers' disk - but that's not available, at least I can not find it - anyone? have an answer to finding this - or can do it for me? I am in Chicago.

The Genius at the downtown apple store said that because it's a "legacy machine" they would not work on it, .. so should I push them?
Well, I personally think that's ridiculous, I'd Push them, I'd call AppleCare & talk up the chain if need be... there the ones that have or should have that Disc... man o man... Personally I'll never visit an Apple Store again in my lifetime, maybe try an independent AASP if none of that helps!..

Man-o-man, pop my cork before I explode on that one, if I had anything to do with it I'd close that store.

  • Final Cut Pro X Export Speed Problems

I'm having problems getting any real processor speed out of my Final Cut Pro X exports. Whether I do a direct native Pro Res export straight from FCPX or send to compressor with the same settings, or even change them to H.264 or something else, i more often get processing that looks like the included picture, barely one processor being tapped. Sometimes ill get 50 percent which is probably all direct export is meant to use, seems like Qmaster distributed processing still doesn't work here. Once i get the file out and then bring that into Compressor 4 I get no issues, can get 50 percent with regular submit and full speed all cores running with Quickcluster submit. Any ideas why this is happening?
Just to be clear, these are native ProRes HQ clips, no effects, nothing, just selects I'm trying output, and since we can't do reference clips anymore, well....

TThe most common cause of this problem is that the media hasn't been imported properly and is still referencing a camera card or archive. If you press Cmd-E and no dialog appears, this can be one cause.
BTw, this is primarily a user to user forum, so no one here really cares if you go and use Premiere.

  • Athalon XP clock speed problem

I hav just installed a K7N2 Delta Mobo in my system, but I'm having CPU clock speed problems.
The Bios and the Infoview program both state that the CPU clock is running at 1105 Mhz. I am sure this should be 1533 Mhz for an 1800xp.
I updated the bios using MSI live update, and the first time I booted the system, the bios displayed the speed as 1533 Mhz, but on every subsequent boot up it is back down to 1105 Mhz again.
How can I get my processor to run at the correct speed?
    Thanks
    Trev

Sorry, just realised I have posted in the wrong forum.
    Please forgive me

  • New E70 - What is the processor speed?

Does anybody have details of the E70's processor speed?
Based on the currently available specs this phone seems to be exactly what Im looking for to replace my 9300. My only concern is whether or not it performs better than the 9300 at opening and viewing reasonably sized documents such as pdf, word and spreadsheets. I find that my 9300 is woefully slow at this and at times it is practically unuseable as a business phone.
    Thanks in advance.
    Andy

if you find the 9300 slow, then it will be unlikely that the e70 will be any better.
i also use a 9300 for work and find that it is very adequate for sending and receiving emails with attachments etc.
whilst i am unable to open complex spreadsheets all the time, i am able to open large word documents and very large pdf's with no problems at all.

  • Variable Processor Speed

    All
Was wondering if there is a way to change the processor speed or if it has something to do with how you change the batter settings. Ie performance vs battery life. Im running duo core temp and it shows that im running at 1.5GHz and not 2.0. I have a MB Black 2.0 512MB Ram (2GB in the mail)
    Thanks

There have been a lot of discussions about memory allocation in the past, but briefly I touch on a few points. When an array is preallocated (initialized) to be a certain size LabVIEW is then able at compile time to set aside a certain amount of memory for that array. Then, if you are using the "replace array element" function within your loop the array isn't growing, just the values are being changed. If you are building the array in the loop, by appending to the existing array for instance, LabVIEW will continuously have to try and allocate memory space to the increasingly bigger array, sometimes having to move it to a whole new memory area. Additionally, and there are discussions of this in the other threads, if you branch the wires to different functions in the loop, LabVIEW will create copies of the initial array, compounding the whole problem, greatly effecting the execution speed, etc.  There have been a lot of discussions about the effects of using the various types of variables (e.g. locals and globals) and other efficiency impacts, for instance having an array of double connected to an indicator of single (or any other type mismatch) which is another thing that creates a copy of the data in memory. You can see that it wouldn't take too many of these to start having an impact on your programs speed. Do a search on this forum for memory usage, memory allocation, efficiency, etc. and you will see some of these discussions. One of the "nuggets" which initially deals with "Action Engines" discusses some of the causes and effects.  When you do search, check the date stamps, some of these might be a little old.

  • Tecra M2 PTM20E - processor speed at 598Mhz

    Hello,
    I have tecra M2 model no. PTM20E-4MP1N-GR.
    One problem was appear:
Processor speed is 1.6GHz, but when I check in the Windows System Properties, the speed is 598Mhz, and system is very slow.
    How to change to higher?
CPU tab are not shown in SWsetup.
It is not also possible to change at standard setup after reboot!
    Please help. :)
    Best Regards
    DarJan

    Very strange :)
I found some similar problem on Toshiba forum. The most solution is to come to Authorization Service.
I also found, that problem is with processor microcode.
Processor installed in Tecra is Pentium M 725 P3D (Dotham) with microcode: MU06d618.
My next question is: how to change microcode in EC/KBC?
And, where may I find "Diagnostic Test Disk" for Tecra M2?
    Could anyone help me?
    Any solutions?

  • Upgrading processor speed

Is it possible to upgrade the processor speed of my G4 flat panel imac? All of a sudden, it has become an issue and I cannot afford a new mac at this time.

    Hi,
Its not really practical to do this. I think a company called daystar ( used? ) offered an option here, it was very costly and often created more problems than it solved.
    Sorry.

  • Processor speed and RAM for Aperture? Comparing MacBook Pros.

I'm about to purchase a macbook pro and thought it best to ask people who are actually using aperture and other image editing software this question. I need to know if a boost in processor speed and video card from the 2.16 to the 2.33 MBP is noticable enough to make a difference. I'm just getting into RAW editing and my iBook can't handle aperture because of the video card, and I don't want to have any problems in the future. Is the price worth the difference?
I've tried posting in other places and have had little response, so I would appreciate it a lot considering I need to purchase today or tomorrow!

All in all, I'd recommend the 2.33 for Aperture. You'll likely keep this laptop for a 2-3 years, so what do the extra dollars give you?
The modest speed bump between 2.16 and 2.33 is OK ... Aperture will use it, esp. since there are 2 x procs. It's really 2 x 10% uplifts, theoretical. You will feel around a 5-10% improvement I suspect.
The bigger reason is the video card VRAM .... 256Mb v 128Mb. VRAM WILL BE USED BY APERTURE and cannot be upgraded later. You soon notice when your RAW's or scanned images are paged from VRAM to main memory and back. Aperture moves the image into VRAM for processing image data using the GPU. More is a good, good thing..... esp. if you ever hang a 2nd monitor off your laptop (which is very common practice).
The additional 1Gb RAM is also needed. Aperture runs like a dog with 8Mpixel plus RAW's on 1Gb RAM and really starts to cruise on 2Gb.
So, you'd need the extra Gb RAM anyway, $175 add-on. That leaves a net of $325, or less than $10/month over the life of your laptop.
All in all then, I'd recommend the 2.33 v 2.16 for Aperture.

  • Windows XP Processor Speed

We are on ZEN 3.2 SP2 and the fields of Operating System Name and Maximum
Processor speed are incorrect for both Windows NT and Windows XP
operating systems. Has anyone else seen this problem? We upgraded to
client 4.9sp1a thinking it might solve the problem but it did not help.

    Hi,
There are two effective DMI fields which refer to the speed of the
processor. The one the scanner (Zen) is looking at shows the EFFECTIVE speed
of the CPU. The other one is embedded in the description of the processor.
Speedstep technology and other similar processor abilities, adjust the speed
of the CPU according to power needs. So, it might say your CPU is running at
40MHZ when in actual fact you might have a 2GB CPU in a laptop whose battery
    is almost flat.
Pentium II and earlier machines didn't have this ability so the field was
almost always accurate (unless the CPU was downclocked to a compatible speed
in the BIOS). However, the speed they were packaged to run at, was rarely
the same as the true manufactured speed of the processor (which is how it's
possible to overclock Intel CPUs). In that event, you would often find the
CPU description looked wrong, but the effective CPU speed looked right.
I once had to write a VB routine to compare the CPU class against the two
seperate DMI strings, then figure out which one was most likely to be
right. It was the only way to ensure I had an accurate table of CPU speeds.

  • Kt3 Ultra-aru Processor Speeds?

    Hi There,
I'm running the MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (MS-6380E v1.X) with an AMD Athlon XP 2000, I was just wondering what Athlon XP processor speeds this supports upto, and if possible what changes I might need to make to the Bios, Would I need to flash my board with a new Bios or just go into my Bios and change some settings.
Thanks for any help, just trying to get ready for Doom 3 and Halflife 2 if they ever appear
    Cheers,
    Paul.

But there is no guaranty, that a FSB333 AthlonXP will work. The largest CPU that is allowed from MSI is a 2600+ FSB266.
But the chance is pretty high, that a FSB333 Athlon will work, though. It did so on mine KT3 Ultra.
