G450 2949 Laptop VGA to TV connection

My computer is G450 2949. It has 15 pin VGA. My TV has 3 rca. When I connect 15 pin VGA to 3 rca, laptop`s screen becomes smaller (squeeze) and tv screen flicks. I dont see anything.

What is the VGA male to miniVGA adapter which came with iMac DVs supposed to connect to?
The iMac DV did not come with an adapter like that.
On the back of the iMac DV, there is another cover above the cover over the RAM. Under that cover is a standard VGA connector.

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. How to switch off laptop screen when you connect external LCD?

Hello, being new to Mac I'd like to ask if it is possible to completely switch off the laptop screen when you connect an external LCD screen and use it as your main desktop. My MacBook Pro does that automatically when I launch a full screen game, say World of Warcraft, but I would like to be able to do it manually.

If you have it connected to a keyboard and mouse, you just shut the lid and use it that way. Of course, I'd be curious why you wouldn't want to use the screen. Having two screens can be extremely useful. The only problem with it is that then you may miss it when you are away from your second screen!

HP Revolve 810 using DisplayPort to VGA adaptor to connect to projector

I have a HP Revolve 810 and often use a DisplayPort to VGA adaptor to connect to a projector. Sometimes the graphics card recognises the projector immediately, sometimes I have to log out of windows and then log back in again and sometimes I have to restart the computer before it recognises the external display.
Is there a fix for this problem? I'm using a DisplayPort to VGA adaptor provided by HP.

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

Everytime i plug my iphone 4s into my windows laptop, usually it comes up with a small box saying 'installing device' but now it comes up with a box saying 'usb device not recoginised'. i have 4 usb ports in my laptop and i have tried plugging my iphone into each one, but it comes up with the same message. I recently installed Mavericks on my laptop. I have an Ethernet cable I connect to my modem to gain access to the internet. I have another Ethernet cable I use on my desktop computer and I connect THAT cable to the modem when I want to gain access on the desktop. Right now, I have access to the internet on my laptop but not on my desktop. The internet service provider checked everything and could not find a problem. They suggested I contact Apple. Is there any connection between my recent upgrade to OS X Maverick on my laptop and my internet connection issue on the desktop? Last thing, the internet service provider suggested that the problem lies in some setting or preference...Thank you in advance!

Unless you router is an Apple Airport, I doubt that updating your laptop would have changed anything, but who knows.
I would recommend trying to hold the reset button on your router for 30 seconds. This may fix the issue, but this will probably erase all of your router's settings like wifi passwords and stuff like that.

If you don't want to risk completely resetting your router, I would suggest trying the following:
– On your laptop (which has a connection)
– Go to System Preferences >> Network >> Advanced >> TCP/IP
– Write down the IP number next to "Router"
– – – Mine looks like this:    192.168.1.125
– Go to your browser (Safari etc.) and go to     http://RouterIP
– – – Where "RouterIP" is the number you wrote down before. Mine looks like this:    http://192.168.1.125
This will take you to your router's settings page.
It will probably ask you for a username and password. They probably are:
User:    admin
password:   admin
or
User: admin
Password:   your router/wifi password
Look all the settings on this site and see if everything is set to reasonable values.

If all else fails, then it's probably something to do with the settings on your desktop PC.

Ned, thanks for responding. Internet access is not the problem, I will have a tower computer connected to Comcast.
Isolating the laptop from the internet is the issue.

You do realize, even if you get it to connect, you can't sync one iPad to two different computers right?
Beyond that, iPads connect to computers running the latest iTunes. So if your laptop doesn't have iTunes, install it and try again. Also, try different USB ports. Your laptop is likely missing the Apple Device driver. You need to plug into different USB ports to trigger its auto install, or google how to install it.

The quick answer is, hook up the tv to the computer, close the lid, then wake the computer up by clicking the mouse while the lid is closed. Not sure if it'll work while running windows, but I'd bet it does if you have the mac drivers installed on the win os.
