G4MX420D-T: No color on video out

Hello
I have a G4MX420D-T and it's works nicely (most of the time). When i connect my tv to the videoout i can see the picture allright, but the color is missing. It seems like the signal is convertet into grayscale.
Any ideas/solutions????
I haven't tried a BIOSupdate. Does anyone know a version that can do the trick???

@esben75
I have a similar problem, but I just get garbage on the screen from either RCA or SVID out put (I've eben tried using the SVID to RCA adaptor and receive the same results.
@Denis B and Zoilus
Could you please be more specific as to the location of these settings. I have checked, but am unable to locate the PAL/NTSC or S-Video/Composite settings.
@kohlerj
I've tried this and these cables work on other systems.

  • Is there a COMPONENT video OUT solution for the iBook?

I am currently using Apple's Video Adapter (mini-VGA to S-Video) to hook up to my widescreen. Let's face it, S-Video *****. I am trying to find a solution that would allow me to get component video out of my iBook and run that into my widescreen.
Is there a VGA->Component Video Adapter available that would work with the mini-VGA -> VGA adapter that ships with the iBook? (Or some other way to get a component video signal?)
    Thanks!

    Hi Mactivist,
i am not an expert on this video stuff but I think
you might find this useful. Although the
procedure described is about a Mac Mini (which has a
dvi connector) the guy actually used a DVI-VGA
adapter. Therefore, I believe, the set-up described
    should work for you too.
    -Petra
Unfortunately, iBooks do not have DVI out. What I really need is a VGA to Component video adapter.
And for the person who wasn't sure what a component video cable looks like, this is a cable that has 3 rca-like plugs on it, each one supplies a different color (RGB I think).
So far, I've not found a VGA adapter that can do this unless you are using an ATI video card as the source.

  • FX5900 Problems with S-video out

I've been trying to get a signal to my miniDV video camera, Cannon Optura PI, through S-video cable. Here's what happens:
    1. Monitor connected to VGA, Camera to S-video out - Camera goes black when windows loads.
    2. Camera only connected to S-video out - It works fine on camera, full color.
    3. Leave camera plugged in, reconnect monitor to VGA - Now monitor goes black when windows loads.
How can I get both the camera and the monitor to work at the same time?
As a test I hooked an LCD projector to the DVI out. I was able to get the projector and the monitor to work simultaneously. S-Video wouldn't work at all with the projector.
I've used MSI live update to ensure all my drivers/bios are current.

I bought two of those cards on eBay when I was looking for a second Video Card for some Video Editing systems.
The largest chip in the Component side of this PCI-slot card has the ATI-3D logo, and characters below call it RAGE LT PRO AGP. A chip nearby has a paper label that says: LTP 328 and 54104. PN 109-54100-00 is silk screened next to the ATI logo on the corner.
There is also a 20-pin rectangular connector labeled "DEF". I have never seen display gear that plugged into that. Any ideas what that one is?
These cards worked great (off the VGA connector) in Mac OS 9, But OS X 10.3.9 would not deal with them except in 256-color mode.

  • I have a 5th gen that won't display any video out

I have a 5th gen that won't display any video out. I've tried 2 different splitter cables out of the earphone jack. I've tried plugging the RCA cables into different colors on the tv. Thought it was just a problem with the cables until tonight when I got a Sonic Impact V55. Video won't display on it either. I have the TV setting to ask. After it asks and I say yes, I get a picture of an Ipod cable connector and a message saying: TV OUT
    ENABLED Please Connect Video Accessory.
This message happens on both splitter cables and using the dock connection on the V55. I've restored, reset, nothing has helped.
I did see a couple of posts regarding the V55 and whether the 5th gen would work on it. Does anyone have a v55 that the ipods working with? Heck the box says it works with Ipod 5th gen.

It goes trough the place where you put youre dock conector in (on the bottom)
Yes it does, on the 5th generation (pre-Classic) models, the video does indeed feed out the headphone jack (as well as out the dock connector on the bottom).

  • Video-out Monochrome

I've looked around the forums for this problem and found something similar, but don't know how to solve it.
I'm connecting my video-out on my graphics card to my line in for the TV.
Anyways, the picture comes up black and white on the TV and I've tried messing around with every little thing that everyone suggested, but it doesn't work still.
The S-Video connection on the graphics card is only a 4 pin, not an 8 or 9 pin as other people have suggested that might be the problem...
Any help to get this to color would be greatly appreciated.

Does your video card have a composite video output (usually a yellow RCA socket), or only the 4-pin S-Video socket?
If it only has the S-Video (aka Y/C) socket, and your TV only has Composite input, you either need a special cable that combines the Colour (C) signal with the Luminance (Y) signal, or (possibly) you need to tell your video csrd to output composite video on the Y signal.
Of course, if your TV has an S-Video input, then it should work with a standard S-Video cable. If the TV has a SCART input (23 pin connector) it gets more complicated, as the SCART connector allows for Composite, S-Video or even RGB connections on the one connector, but your TV might only support composite. If you do have a SCART connection, you could connect a 470 picofarad capacitor between pins 15 and 20 to add the C signal (pin 15) to the Y (pin 20). But from what I can gather, SCART connectors are more common on European TVs (PAL) than in NTSC countries.
    Hope this helps.

  • Use standard DV Video out for monitring with HDV Project?

i got a ADS Pyro AV Link fo Christmas and has a composite/S Video out on the back....and connected the composite to a monitor.....and FCE has a video out option in the View menu....and whenever i select it (with an HDV proj.) it goes from the Pyro's standard color bars to a black screen.... wheever i play my project back in the canvas it still is black? whats wrong? or is it incompatibility?

That's not going to do what you want. FireWire is only for DV material not for HDV that's been converted to the Apple Intermediate Codec. You can output to HDV via FireWire, but only using the print to video function.

  • Premier CS 6 video out not clear

Premier CS 6 video out not clear and video have some color patch (grey ) not satisfied quality.
    My System -
    Premier CS 6
Mac 10.8 lion, quadcore 6GB ram
    Blackmajic Decklinkcard
Please help how to broadcast quality out.
    thanks....................................................

The links Harm provided influenced the original build, but on his advice, I re-read them and decided to alter it and bit.
If I swap out the ASUS Rampage for the Deluxe model, replace the Velciraptor with a Seagate 2TB, and the water cooling with a COOLER MASTER, Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler (rated Gold by hardwaresecrets), then I can upgrade to the larger COOLER MASTER, HAF 932 Advanced and keep the price about the same.
Given my projected video editing demands, it doesn't seem like the ASUS Rampage MB offers much more than the ASUS Deluxe MB and the latter contains BT and wireless.
Since I do not intend to OC, there doesn't seem to be a great need for liquid cooling, especially with the larger tower case. At any rate, it does feel better not put "liquid" and "computer" in the same sentence!
The Corsair AX850 Gold power supply does indeed seem to be a better choice.
There doesn't seem to a concensus in the all the discussions relating to using a SSD vs a hard drive for the boot disk. However, since boot speed is not an issue for me I don't need an SSD and the Velociraptor seems to a unnessary expense. While I don't need 2TB for the boot drive, they are not much more than the 1TB.
The only question remaining is filtering the air. This machine will be in a dusty (but not dirty) environment. I read Harm's thoughts on air filtering provide in his link, but don't want to go the custom route. These aftermarket filters look nice http://www.frozencpu.com/products/11729/ffi-57/DEMCiflex_Cooler_Master_HAF_932_Magnetic_Du st_Fan_Filter_Set_-_4_Piece.html, but for the cost, I'd rather put another $50-60 into the case and get one with good filtering.
Does anyone have experience with a stock Full Tower with complete built-in filters they have actually used in a dusty environment they would be willing to share?

  • Video out via firewire

Is color capable of outputing preview video through my DVCam deck via firewire? The option in the video out preferences seems to be grey out as are the other options in there.

I had forgotten I'd posted this and I need to make a clarification.
At the time of this posting, I'd been assured by Blackmagic Designs that Color would preview externally through their Intensity Pro card although in 8-bit video. Since the time of this posting and upon further query with BM tech support, I was told the Intensity Pro could not be used in this function.
Sorry if there has been any confusion caused by my statement.

  • NO COLOR in video captures

Situation 1: VHS with RCAout connection, GF 5700 video card. The video is captured in black and white.
Situation 2:  DVD player with S-video cable. The video card capture in color. That is OK.
Situation 3: DVD player with RCA cable. The capture is again in black and white
I'm using Movie Maker, in "properties" the color configuration is not enable and is not possible to do it.
The VHS player doesn't have S-video out.
    Question ?
How can I do to capture video color from a VHS with RCA connection only ? Somebody could give me an Idea ?
    Thanks a lot
    Raul

    Ah well theres the problem
Theres plenty of software out there that will do a better job. However, if you want to stick with Media Maker, check that you have the latest version (v2.0 I believe) from Windows Update.

  • G5 video out problem w/ 23" cinema display

Yesterday I moved my G5 and 23" display into another room in my house. When I plugged everything in and turned on the computer, the monitor was not responding. I plugged the 23" display into my powerbook G4 laptop, and it functioned properly as a second monitor. At this point, I ruled out the monitor as the issue.
With the monitor plugged back into the G5 tower again, I restarted the computer, and without seeing anything, I entered my username and password to login. I could tell that the computer was working, but the video out was not. I then used the keystroke to properly shut down the computer.
The next time I restarted it, the display came on, but after about 10 minutes, it froze. I suspect a problem with the video card.
Here's the big question though. I also noticed that the computer gave an error on one of the processors. It could be related, but it may be another issue. I've had the computer since July of 05. Is it too late to buy the apple care service to cover a video card and new processor (potentially), or am I in for a costly repair?

Yesterday I moved my G5 and 23" display into another
room in my house. When I plugged everything in and
turned on the computer, the monitor was not
    responding.
Since ou have moved the machine, as well as disconnected/reconnected the monitor, it is possible the video card has become (at least partially) unseated.
Verify the card is fully and properly seated in the slot, no pins are damaged/bent, that the cable is fully seated, and that the cable did not get pinched/damaged in the process of the move.
(Generally, if you wiggle/jiggle the cable around, and the monitor cuts in/out or changes colors, there could be a broken wire in the cable.)

  • How come Colors are Washed Out, FCE QT Conversion H.264

I have searched this forum on this problem, but nothing I found directly addresses this.
I have transcoded 1080p h.264 video to AIC, editing in FCE4 works beautifully. If I export to QT movie only converting to h264 original size, a 3 minute video becomes 3 GB but the playback in QT matches the colors I see in FCE. If I use FCE to QT conversion to a smaller size, 640x360 h.264, the colors get washed out. I tried MPEG Streamclip to convert the 3GB version, and the colors are beautiful, but even at 100% quality, the video looks slightly pixelated.
Still on MAC OS X 10.5.8 with QT7. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Nelson

it's an old bug, and one I hoped had been fixed with the release of QT7.
there is supposedly a field in the mov file which indicates the Gamma of the mov. from memory, QT is either not writing the value, or it's ignoring the value when the mov is played back. the bug is also evident in Safari. it only affects movies exported as H.264 (which is laughable since Apple has been heavily promoting H.264 for quite some time)
I have an urgent project for friends overseas. this is not a welcome predicament.
search the net for "quicktime gamma fix" and you'll find a raft of web pages regarding the problem. for example, Luxology Quicktime Gamma Fix.

  • Why no Video Out?

From what I have read it seems that the nano doesn't have the software or hardware(the stereo minijack that has video capability) to support video output. Is this correct?Does anyone know why the iPod nano doesn't have a video out, and when, if possible, the video capability will be added to the nano?

    Jace,
The nano's don't have video out...I have one and know this to be true, but you can check the spec sheet under connectivity here:
    http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html
Frankly, it is a good thing that Apple didn't put the power circuitry into the headphone jack on the nano....even if they could have fit it in, electrical interference from that is commonly thought to be the source of a well-known audio flaw in the color models of iPod, requiring the use of higher-impedance earphones to compensate for.
I'm hoping Apple is migrating to a dock connector circuitry for that type of i/o, and will leave the audio jack pure and protected.
In either case, if you need to display photos on TV, you need a full size iPod...the nano's features are size, flash, and a color display whose primary value is legibility over the monochrome displays...photos on the nano are a cute addition for showing baby photos on an airplane...that's all.

  • Video out from ABC app to my TV

I have ABC's app that allows me to watch their shows. It works fine on the iPad, but when I connect an Apple Composite AV cable to my TV all I get is sound. No video. I have my iPad set to video NTSC but I don't get it on my TV. Any ideas out there? Thanks.
    donald

Only a few apps right now support the Video Out function... the developer is tasked with making their apps compatible with this...over time more and more will I assume... For now only a few native apps are like the Movies in iPod section or the Keynote App (strangely Pages and Numbers are NOT supporting video out currently)

  • Video out from iPhone 3GS to TV.

Can I use the standard (3 phono plugs on the end) video out lead I already have to view keynote presentations from my iPhone 3GS on my TV/Projector?

    Same problem here.
I can't get any video out of my faithful iPhone 3GS running iOS 6.xx.
I have been browsing Apple discussions for solutions and most of them seem to point out to a faulty Video Composite cable. This is not my case.
I can rule that out 100%.
Old iPhone 3G running ios 3.1.2 works just fine as well as does iPhone 4, with the same cable.
I have tried with a friend's TV and cable and iPhone 3GS and we have identical issues.
(different cables and phones, same issue).
Please note all testing has been done with genuine Apple Video composite cables.
So this points out clearly to a iphone iOS issue combined with hardware.
It appears that starting from iOS > 5.0 video output has been disabled on earlier iPhone models prior to 4.
It would be nice if Apple could issue a Knowledge Base document on the issue as that would save many people further testing and waste of time.
This document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4108? isn't really complete enough as it stops at iphone 4.
Has anybody the ultimate answer on this issue?
    Are there any known work-arounds?
    Thanks and regards
    Pieter
