G4ti4200 it go boom!

Ive installed a Ti4200 128mb in my pc; all was fine (games played and windows found the card fine), the problem occured when I ran '3D! Turbo Experience' to check the card, and I found after a minute the PC switched itself off abruptly. Hmm, I thought.
It turned out that the PSU had packed in, which was of the following spec:
300W
Output: +5V - 35A
+12V - 12A
+5VSB - 1.0A
+3.3V - 14A
-12V - 1A
-5V - 0.5A
I replaced the PSU with a spare one I had lying around which was a 230W, which booted the PC up fine. I then ran the 3d turbo program again when in Windows and was confronted with 2 error messages stating that the GPU fan was running at 0 RPM. No sooner did I go down to check the fan (Which was found to be off at this point), did the PC switch off - killing another PSU.
Any ideas? The mobo I use is an Iwill DDR333 with an XP1700+ Chip. Is it a duff card? Or is there something more sinister going on here? I aint about to go out a PSU yet just in case it blows that one up too.

Cheers Richard, only after reading the bottom of the 230W PSU did I find it only gives a max combined 115W on the 3.3V and 5V. The only thing that concerned me was that the PC seemed fine (Even when running Unreal tournament 2003, and also 3dmark 2001SE); but caused the PSU to pop when I ran the 3d turbo program packaged with the card. Suffice to say I wont risk running the program again, even though my new Enermax 431W is on it's way to me right now :]

I have the MSI G4Ti4200-VTD64 (4X) video card.. I want to upgrade my motherboard to K7N2 Delta-ILSR. Is there any voltage incompatibility?? I heard that new mother boards will support only AGP 1.5V. Is the AGP voltage of K7N2 Delta-ILSR 1.5volts?? Is my video card compatible with this voltage?? I really want to retain my current video card as I am quite satisfied with it and I'm not willing to invest on a new one at the moment. If there is an incompatibility could you suggest another Socket A MB with good performance and SATA RAID support.

All 4X Vid Cards work on all 4X and 8X mobos. All 4X mobos work with all 4X and 8X Vid Cards.

The Get Info. fields show up gray if the files is locked and iTunes knows it can't edit the file. Make sure the files are not marked as read only and, if necessary grant both your account and system full access to all files and subfolders of your media folder.
You can set Part of a Compilation for multiple tracks from the Options tab of Get Info.

I'm having a similar problem with my new touch 3rd gen, with a Sony clock/radio/docking model ICF-CL75iP.
No sound coming out of the speakers, and no picture or video showing on the radio's LCD screen.
Sony replied to me that it's intended to work with any ipod touch 1st and 2nd gen but not with 3rd generation. Whose fault it is? Wrong software from Sony or Apple?
I guess I'll try to downgrade the firmware from 3.1.2 to the previous one. If not then I'm stuck

In need of a "Boom box like" sound effect

I am trying to score a scene where there is music coming out of a Boom box. Is there a plug-in in Logic that I'm not aware that creates such a sound or is there a plug-in that I can purchase or download?
If anybody has any suggestion on how I would achieve that 'boom box" sound I would appreciate your ideas.
The only plug in that I know of is Vinyl which creates that scratched record sound, which I don't need.

Specifically, I don't know of a dedicated boombox simulator.
1) Make a CD or cassette of the audio, and mic a boombox playing it back
2) Make a CD or cassette of an impulse, and create an IR of a boombox playing it back
3) You could try using some filtering, fast compression, and a very short IR - or something like the bass amp plugin, basically any speaker simulator with good frequency response (unlike a guitar cab) could give you the effect with a little eq

If you're in the US and have an account in the US iTunes Store, then go here and check the region:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > tap your Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
If you find that it is set to the correct region, log out of your iTunes Store account, restart your iPad, and sign into your account again.
If you are in Colombia, then you cannot use the US iTunes Store, and you can't use a US credit card in the Colombian iTunes Store.

G4Ti4200-TD 128Mb Crashing with 3D Games

I am having a problem with running 3D games on on the ti4200 128mb. I can play for anything between 2 & 20 mins when the system just freezes and requires a hard reset. Windows XP is solid as a rock, even after many hours of Windows work, and crashing only occurs in games. I have tried all sorts of drivers from the standard 31.00 to the most recent 41.09. I have even installed the 27.20's that the MSI website suggests should be tried with my Via KM266 chipset. I always remove the previous drivers using Remove Programs before installing the next.
I don't think that it is an overheating issue as I have run the shuttle without its case on in a ventilated area. I know the first thing you are going to say is power supply, but I tried the board in a friends PC Chips machine (mbo 810 with 550 watt PSU) and had the same problem. Also many review sites (inc PCFormat Magazine) have run high end graphics cards in the Shuttle system

well i dont know why its no good in your mates ,but
a.the 200 watt psu in that never enough for a gf4
and im convinced running them on low power psu does them no good at all
b. heats got to be an issue inside that case no matter what you say
what sort of vga do they recommend

Iphod usage with harley davidson boom audio

I had no problem with a iPod Shuffle but I've now bought a Nano and have trouble with the advance feature. If my Nano is hooked directly into the usb port on my 2014 FLHTK, I cannot use the advance feature. If I'm connected to the Nano via Bluetooth, I can use the left-hand thumb button to advance to the next song (in shuffle mode).
I'd like to know how to set the Nano so I can use the Boom! Audio thumb buttons to advance songs when the iPod is connected to the usb port.

I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

TV-chip on the MSI G4TI4200-TD card?

Hi,
I´m thinking of buying a MSI G4TI4200-TD card, but first i want to know what kind of TV-out chip it uses (like cx25871 from Conexant, or SAA7104 from Philips)?
Is it the same card for the whole ti4200-series?
If you know please post it, or if you dont know but you have the card please check which chip it uses!
And if you have an oppinion of how the tv-out quality is with that specific card - please let me know!

I just purchased the MSI G4Ti4200-TP64, Model # MS-8886 from Fry's Electronics. I am having problems loading the driver on my computer. I have a SOYO SY-7VCA-E motherboard with VIA chipset VT82C694X, Pentium III 933 Mhz processor, and 512 Mb RAM. I do know that some cards have compatibility issues with the VIA chipset. NO matter what I do the driver will not fully load and I get a data invalid and the computer defaults to the Windows VGA generic driver. My previous video card was Leadtek Winfast Geforce2 Pro.

G4Ti4200 delay

Hi,
I have problem (can I call it hunt on ghost?) with MSI G4Ti4200 128MB. Graphic is freeze every 2sec on 0.3sec! I try to update drivers/bios/all other SW, change IRQ, change Bios settings, Detonator settings, VIA chipset drivers, 4x reinstall Win (tested WinXP, WinXP SP1 release 2002). This problem I have for last 14 days in 14 / 15 starts of Win. Graphic freeze in 2D, 3D, OpenGL, Direct3D... everywhere, I cant normally watch film / play game etc.
I tryed 3DMark and there was framerate about 0 in this "freeze time", total framerate is lower.
Sisoft Sandra cannot find any problem with anything in my computer... Everything is working well, just this "freeze time" is... ;(

You ´re looking for automation parameter "Tap time" - if you open the automation parameter menue of you DD Plug In you will find a subfolder for each tap from A-Z - at the very bottom you find Tap time which can be automated like any other parameter. It's displayed in Milliseconds so just double the number and the delays will switch from 16th to 8th notes.

Has anyone heard of the sonic boom virus hitting macs today

Today I had a problem with no sound coming from my macbook air. checked and rechecked and then I googled apple support. Called a number and talked to a tech - i thought from apple - he took over my machine through logmein123 and searched my machine. He said I have sonic boom - a very lethal virus. He wanted 199 for the first year so I got off.
He said it affects macs and pcs on a network. How should I proceed?

That was not Apple, that was a scammer. There is no such malware as "sonic boom." I've been tracking Mac malware for years, and feel that I have a complete list (see my Mac Malware Guide)... sonic boom is not on it.
Unfortunately, since you gave control of your computer to this sleazeball, who knows what might be on your computer by now. He may very well have installed some software to give himself a back door to get access to your machine later, or a keylogger, or some other nastiness. I would NEVER consider continuing to use a machine in that condition.
You could try scanning the machine with MacScan. I don't have a lot of respect for MacScan, but it can identify some apps that are legitimate but could be misused in a case like this. However, that's probably not the most reliable method for fixing the problem. In my opinion, you need to erase your hard drive completely and reinstall the system. It will be a lot of work, but it's what I would do.
1) If you don't already have backups, get an external hard drive or flash drive and copy any data you don't want to lose onto it. The safest option would be to copy your entire system to an external drive using something like Carbon Copy Cloner. Then disconnect that drive and put it out of the way until you need it again.
2) Hold down command-R at startup, and after selecting your language, you will see four options. One is to open Disk Utility. Do that.
3) In Disk Utility, select your internal drive and erase it. When finished, quit Disk Utility, and you should end up back at the menu of four options.
4) Reinstall the system.
5) Copy your data back to the new system. Do not use the Setup Assistant (which will offer to import data from a backup), as the goal here is to avoid copying any parts of some malicious software back onto your system.
6) Reinstall any applications you had installed.
If this is overwhelming to you, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store and talk to a tech about this. Explain what happened and that you're concerned about what this guy might have installed.

Boom - out goes the hard drive

After preaching today about the necessity of backups and bootable drive clones I came home to finish some system cleanup and moving some files around on my new (larger) backup drive.
I decided to do a clone of my boot drive first (with CCC) since it's been a while since I did one. After doing the clone I went to Disk Utility and did a Verify Disk on both the cloned drive and my original MacHD disk. My primary disk failed the verify, and since I can't repair the boot drive I rebooted to my new cloned drive.
Wouldn't you know - after rebooting, and then finding that even DiskWarrior was reporting it couldn't deal with the drive, the directory structure was completely corrupted and boom - all data was gone after the DiskWarrior repair.
What a timing, huh. Wow, another day and this would have been much more painful...
So, I'm currently in the process of reformatting the main drive, and will clone the drive back when it's done and verified.
But I do have a question. Since I'm running off the cloned drive right now I see that many of my file icons have changed (MS Word files for instance look like a very old icon, not what they were when booted to the main drive) and all of my Apps, except for Apple apps, in the Dock no longer work. I assume this may be due to paths being different in the properties somewhere (my old disk was MacHD and the new one is MacHD2) and that will be corrected once the main drive is rebuilt.
Does that sound right?

Okay, answering my own post...
So, the file icons were in fact resolved after the primary disk was restored from the clone.
But, the broken Dock icons were not, so I had to remove them and drag new ones there. Not a big deal, but seems odd to me why it was only some apps.
For what it's worth, this was a great disaster recovery test. I basically had a full disk crash with complete loss of boot drive and data, and I was back up and running with a clean system and all data restored within 5 hours. Gotta love it.

G4Ti4200-TP64 Everything is pink!

Hello there!
I don't know what's going on, I just know I need help! My MSI G4Ti4200 had been working great for four weeks (until 3 days ago), when all of a sudden the colors totally changed.
Already when I boot the computer, the text is pink. My background color, which had been white is pink and stays pink, no matter what I do! All colors are off! i don't know what it could be and/or how to fix it!
Is there anybody out there, who could help me, please!!!???? ?(
I didn't get any warning messages and everything else is working, no conflicts, nothing,...
Please HELP!

Have you tried a different monitor? (or even hooking up to a TV if your card supports TV Out?)
It sounds to me like your monitor has lost one of its colours (green, most likely).
Check your monitor cable to see if it's connector is loose, or if the connector has bent pins. Try moving/fiddling with the cable where it connects to the monitor / where it connects to the video card and see if the colour comes back correctly - even if for a brief flash - that will confirm the monitor is the problem.
