G5 60g must reset after short off time, intermitantly

Hi I have a 2 month old g5 60gb video ipod at level 1.1. What happens is this, I use the ipod to listen to music, a podcast or an audible book makes no difference. I turn off for a short time maybe an hour or two. When I turn back on everything looks and acts normal except when I try to play something I get one of 2 senarios. 1 is the play > icon comes on and the time does not increment and no sound. The other is the play > icon comes on and the time does increment and no sound.
I then have to reset (hold on then off menu and select together) then all returns to normal. I have updated to 1.1 and I have done a restore. no change.
This is my third pod so I feel I'm using it correctly. when the above first happened I thought I maybe had a phone jack issue, but I can do the reset without ever touching or reseating the phone jack and it comes right back after the reset.
Any ideas? I was really hoping going to 1.1 would fix this as its REAL annoying.
Thanks

Sounds like you need the repair shop to me. Continuously needing to do a reset is just not correct.
Are you sure the pod was back to 1.0 by looking on the pod under About>? This just started before any update to 1.0 or after?

  • Waking the 5G iPod after extended off time.

Not sure if I have a defective unit or not, but anytime my 5G iPod has been off for an extended period of time, it is a little hard to get it to wake back up or turn on. I have to hold the reset down for the few seconds to get it to start back up. It doesn't do this after short periods of being off, that usually only takes a simple click of the wheel.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Usually anything more than a couple of hours requires me to hold down the clickwheel for a few seconds, maybe not quitea full reset proceedure. If it has only been off for less than that, it just takes the simple click of the scrollwheel.
Maybe I'll just wait until some of the stores have them in plentifull stock and exchange it. You can exchange at the store if bought online?

  • Reset after some predefined time of no activity.

Hi, we are setting up Firefox as a Kiosk application.
CU is asking the session would be reset (=firefox restart) after a predefined time of no activity by the user, so whatever page the browser is left, after some amount of inactivity it returns to its home page.
One way to do that could be to add some extensions to Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/616), but I am guessing if there is any timeout value I can set on Sun Ray Server and which is the recommended way to do that.

    Thanks for your answers.
I've been tracing the execution and I've found out that I don't get that exception (sorry, when I said I got it, it was due to a different matter). In fact I don't get any exception at all, but it doesn't work out.
I've been checking my code and don't close the socket myself at any point and the other end doesn't close it, either. I have no clue about what the reason of the problem is: it just stop answering.
I'm working on sending PING messages to the client so it isn't inactive so long. Perhaps this will solve the problem, but I still wonder what the cause is.
    Can you give any advice?

  • Must reset ipod touch each time install apps

Got an iPod Touch (5.0.1) for Christmas. Using iTunes 10.5.1.42 on Win 7 box. I must restore the iPod each time I want to install more apps. It has over 4 GB of memory left. The Sync Apps area is all greyed out and nothing moves unless I restore it each time. This can take almost an hour. Its ridiculous. (Don't know if it's related but iTunes freezes almost every time it launches.) Anybody know how to fix this?

Ok. I found the problem. I needed to go into Settings > General > Restrictions, then turn on Installing Apps. Somehow that was turned off.

  • Factory reset after power off

I use Cisco switch sg300-28. When i turn it off and turn on, it reset to factory reset include login password, dose it normal operation or I miss anything?
    Thank you.

Hello Jerry, the SX300 series switches have a running configuration and a start up configuration. For the switch to retain settings, you must save the running config to the startup otherwise all settings will be lost.
After making a change there is a blinking save icon on the top right. You may click this and follow the windows. In addition, you can go to Admin -> File Managemenet -> Copy File and save there as well.

  • Iphone resets after power off

My iPhone ran out of battery and it asks to reconfigure the phone when I turned it on after recharging. I tried resetting however it didn't work.

    Hi Umbriel,
Thanks for you tip. I restored the iPhone and at first everything was ok. Now my iPhone ran out of battery again, and AGAIN the date/time is reset. This *****! Can I somehow submit this as a bug so that it will hopefully be fixed with the next IOS release?
    Kind regards,

  • Settings resetting after powering off

Every time I turn my MacBook off, and later turn it back on all my settings are reset to defaults. The dock has all the default apps on it, and I have to usually reinstall applications like MSN Messenger, whats going on?

I'm the only user on my computer, and I haven't changed the names on anything. I have also noticed that several of my photos won't open, just randomly certain ones will have the photos half missing that were there entirely before. Now some of them don't open or only show a portion of the image.

  • MUSE not responding after short idle time

I am using Muse 2014.2 with Windows 7 64bit (and I love MUSE, thanks Adobe for a great program [snivel, snivel]). I am finding that MUSE freezes and become unresponsive after three or four minutes away e.g. while I go off to Illustrator / Photoshop and tweak something to import.
The only way to sort is to run the Windows Task Manager (which shows MUSE as 'Not Responding') ~ force it's closure ~ restart MUSE. Is this common for you all or a setting I can change? Seems to be a problem since 2014.2 - but that may be my imagination.

    Hi,
Could you try closing Muse and then renaming the below folders on your machine and then launch Muse again and work as usual?
    C:\Users\{{your user name}}\AppData\Roaming\com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.2 - rename this folder to com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.2.old
C:\Users\{{your user name}}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Muse CC - rename this folder to Adobe Muse CC.old
Let me know if this helps get rid of the hung up state while keeping Muse unattended for a while.
You may also try creating a new Windows user account and check the same workflow in that to verify if the behavior is user account specific or general.
    Thanks,
    Vikas

    click on Copy Configuration button
set Source File Name as Running Config
set Destination File Name as Startup Config
    click Apply

  • Displaying large clock after short idle time ?

    Hi,
When I leave my desk I'd like my Mac to turn into a large clock (since I can't read the small menu bar clock from a distance).
Is there a way to have a large digital or analog clock overlaid on the screen once there has been an idle time (mouse/keyboard) of a set number of minutes?
    Thanks!

I have that exact same problem! It plays albums fine. But individual songs including ones downloaded from iTunes either skip or play the music of another totally different song. All play fine on iTunes and my iPhone... Got this one to replace my dying 5th gen classic.
I hope there is a fix for this, cause it *****!!!!

  • Hello everybody. After Mavericks reinstall, my shut off time is longer than it was.

Hello. About a week ago I reinstalled the Mavericks,  prior I use to have 2-3 seconds shut off time, I have now 12 seconds. I am using now OS X 10.9.2 version, Late 2013 Macbook Pro Retina 15. The reason why I made the reinstall: I didnt knew that in order to use win 7 I dont have to install it via Boot Camp. After I have installed win 7 via Boot Camp I also installed Parallels version 9, used it in trial mode, worked awesome. Meanwhile I wanted to make free the partition that Ive used for win 7 via Boot Camp (70 gb), because Ive realized that it is not needed for me to run win 7. Stupid me, I didnt delete it via Boot Camp, bottom line is that I was not able to delete it at all, Ive tried from recovery mode, disk manager, was not able to delete the partition. At the moment I still had a very good shut off time, about 2-3 seconds, everything was ok despite of the fact that I was not able to access the 70 gb. I have now a boot time of 11-12 seconds, not bad but this time was also shorter prior reinstall. Ive dowwnload the OS X from apple store, made a bootable usb drive using DiskMakerX. Booting from this usb drive I was able finally to erase the entire drive and made the reinstall. I am using now parallels version 8 instead of 9, because I had an activation key for version 8, works fine. So, I would say that my longer shut off time is not affected by me using parallels 8. I tried to repair the disk from recovery mode, didnt changed my shut off time, made the smc reset and also made pram reset. Nothing helped. What is there to do, how can I have the same very short shut off time? I rarely turn off the mac, but still this is very annoying. Thank you for reading, waiting for ideas and advices.

Not sure but it looks like Mavericks writes a lot more info on shutdown than the older Mac OS X versions were doing.  With some more apps it has more to keep track of and setup for restart.
With the Windows material, the system could also be trying to track that info in a different way now.  It is always very complex when there are different OSs and partitions to track.
After it settles down for a few days, you might want to look at your setup and see if you need to do some houskeeping chores...but definitely not with cleaning software as that causes all kinds of problems.  Just look at the cleaning tasks you can do with Mac OS X itself to organize and remove cookies, etc.

my ipod touch 4th gen isnt work after a long time with 0 percent battery power. Then its not working. computer doesnt respond to my ipod .only black screen is appearing it even not wake up after reset it what can i do please help me

After being connected to a charging source overnight try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Step #4 Once your iphone is reset to factory setting on your Itunes Window will say NO SIM CARD DETECTED before clicking on your right up corner (DONE) slide your phone and it will appear conect to a network do the process and put the pasword of your WiFi and until it says conected,It will say (No Service) but it will be conected to WiFi  then click on the Itunes Window (DONE)
