G5 Dual 1.8 with Internal Apple 80Gig issues -:(

Hi,
I've experienced intermittent issues with this internal 80Gig Apple drive almost since day one. It's a G5 1.8 Dual. I've had it for about 5 months and obviously have walk in coverage still. My issues started about 2 months ago. The drive would take a long time to boot and I got errors, see messages:

Anyway, back when this occurred, I did a complete diagnostic with the other Apple CD, and it came up no issue. I since then found out about SMARTReporter, installed it and was happy.
I was in the middle of a recording session and I got an alert box from SMARTReporter.
This has become a nerve racking thing now.
I started to Carbon Copy my drive and only selecting basic stuff, and to at least make a disk image, with restore features on...

Does anyone have any recommendations on next steps outside of just waiting for the drive to fail, and haul the G5 into the Apple Store?

I'd be tempted to get it replaced now, as it seems to either have an intermittent fault or be on the verge of failure. If the Apple Store won't replace it free of charge, having seen your screen grabs, I'd personally just buy another drive myself. Higher capacity drives are available fairly cheaply these days and the peace of mind along with the additional capacity would be worth the minimal cost.

Dual Layer DVD with added ROM folder issue

When I burn dual layer discs with an added ROM folder I add the ROM folder along with the TS folders at the root level in Toast, and they burn just fine. For replicated discs I've always sent the files to a company in Boston to put on LTO for the replicator. Now a client's replicator wants the files as DDP 2.0, on discs, and I can create a standard DVD Video without issue in DVDSP, except, I'm having issues with adding ROM material. Obviously, I have to add the ROM folder within DVDSP and not Toast, since it gets built in to the DDP file. The trouble I'm having is when I add the ROM material within DVDSP, with ROM selected and Joliet enabled.
DVDSP creates the DDP files, and at the same time, it creates a TS file too, so I can burn that to see if the files are correct. But in the TS version there is no ROM folder. I only create one folder, named Extras. I've read here in this forum about the need to create a folder within a folder because of the way DVDSP reads and includes the folder. Is that still the case? Do I need to put my Extras folder inside another folder, select that folder, and DVDSP will put the Extras folder on the DVD? And finally, I don't have a lot of confidence now in what's actually on the DDP disc. Is there any way a mere mortal can confirm the contents of a DDP file?

I just wanted to make sure you are aware that there is no reliable way to acess ROM content outside of the user navigating to the root level of the disc. The technology was abandoned at least 6 years ago. Most people just have a menu that give the user direction on how to navigate to the root level of the DVD but in my experience this only applies to single layer discs.
I haven't ever been able to burn successful dual-layer discs in programs outside of DSP. DSP does something in the burn process that Toast and others is unable to do so that the second layer can be read.
I do not believe that the DDP can create/show ROM content for a dual layer disc.
The reason being that layer 0 always has to be bigger than layer 1(second layer) and authoring of the layers doesn't allow for a xtra folder of ROM content in the DDP format.
If these are being replicated I would check with the replicator and inquire if they have made a DL disc with ROM content. Possibly they could add the folder before the glass master is made but I believe it is unlikely.

We currently have approx 75 iPad mini using a single Apple ID. Recently we have added a few additional and updated to the latest iOS. We are receiving multiple welcome emails (2-5 day) welcoming us to our new iPad. Is there a way we can stop this for occurring any further? Your help is appreciated!

We've been trying to contact the seller for weeks. There's no way to return it to the seller when she won't respond to a single email. I don't know if she deliberately duped us or what. Surely we are not the only ones in this situation. It's shocking Apple doesn't have an override in place to protect buyers in cases similar to ours.
You are incorrect that we cannot use the iPad. It has operated perfectly except for not being able to add any new apps due to not being able to enter in his Apple ID.

I have decided against the Apple Raid card, since it does not support any other drives than the ones sold through the Apple Store and it also only supports up to 1 TB drives.

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, ATTO and LSI, and Adaptec mainly owned the storage market for Mac controllers, and even then in those happy times we heard there was Voodoo in the land, and a curse on what were the Rules of SCSI Voodoo, and one had to be careful that a drive really was certified and tested, and one had to insure which firmware version one was talking about, not just any which firmware - and controllers also had to be updated as well.
Signal processing over SCSI with good active termination, cable length, and 160 pins (and cable strands) (and no noise or crosstalk, good insulation).
If one did all of the above, and was careful, you were rewarded with a working storage controller and array and the best possible performance at the time.
And sometimes you could venture off the reservation... a little, and some drivers could patch and work around bugs in firmware or other problems - just as bugs in cpu, boot firmware, and microcode can be patched by the OS kernel. And people would pay for retail drivers, or they would have to rely on the vendor's bundled driver (that may only work on their own drives and no others).
Hard Disk Toolkit, Silverlining and others made name for themselves, amoung others that now have faded into oblivion for most.
But it still exists when you venture beyond consumer and pro-consumer devices and venture to use FC-SCSI, SCSI, and SAS. And taking a chance when you try to use off the shelf SATA storage products and solutions. There are times when OEM drives really are OEM-only and a good thing; and times to avoid.
And there is no list of any kind of successfully used non-Apple drives, though there is word-of-mouth of a few that definitely need to be avoided.

I have two Apple IDs because i travel frequently between Mexico and the US, and the apple stores offer different products, so i like to download music, movies and TV series from both sites.
Apparently apple changed the conditions, becauise until a few days ago i could log our from one account and log in from my other one. Yesterday i was at Miami International Airport and wanted to download a few chapters from one of my TV series (Walking Dead) to watch on my way to Mexico City, but a pop up window came up saying "this device is already associated with an apple id". Curoiously, the ID to which i was connected to was precisely the one under which i had bought weeks ago the chapters i was wanting to download from the cloud. So it says i have to wait 90 days to change apple id.... weard! probably i accepted these terms when dowloading a new IOS version, so legally I'm dead in complaining, but why is it that if i am paying for all that i buy as a model citizen i am now blocked from jumping from one apple id to another one???? I can certainly buy another ipad and have one with one id and another one with the other, but is there any other way i can keep the two in just one device?? If i don't use i-could would anything change? This is really making me mad, and is the first time i have thought of moving our of mac products into samsung or others and buy my music and movies somewhere else where stupid restrictions like this one do not exist. Please help with a solution!

OK, but in my ipad, the apple id i have in itues is already the one iwant to have, but th one i used to sin in for i-coud is the other one. Any tip as to how to change the apple id for icloud and any idea how to know what apps i bought with the other apple id so as to delete them from my ipad to avoid being asked to enter another apple id every time they get updated? thanks!

Problem with internal speakers of MacBook Pro

I wanted to know if anyone have experienced a problem with internal speakers of Mac Book Pro. In my MackBook the Internal speaker volume goes down automatically. I checked the System Preferences>Sound>Output , from there I check that it is in the middle ( Balance) However, the problem is still the exists. Just for testing I played an audio file and I moved the bar toward the right speaker it is the same and when I move toward the left speaker the whole sound goes off . Looks like one speaker stops working completely. Then I checked the Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup > Configure Speakers from there I checked both left and right speakers and the channel frequency is fine. Still same issue. I have no idea what is going on , I really need your suggestions to get this fixed.

New DVI-standard doesn't fit with old Apple adapter

I bought a new MBP i7 the last week and was very surprised when i noticed that the adapter i bought (Mini Display to DVI) doesn't fit with my old adapter (DVI to VGA). Apples new DVI-adapter us the DVI-D standard and that doesn't work well with teh DVI-I standard. The Apple Mini-Displayport-to-DVI adapter is DVI-D because there is no analog signal emitted from the Mini-Displayport. The contacts the adapter lacks are the ones that would carry an analog signal, if there were any. If you want to connect your MBP to a device with a VGA input port, get a mini-displayport-to-VGA adapter.

Unfortunately, this is a problem that is driven by the DRM Dictatorship. Despite the proliferation of mobile devices and the fact that there are many of us who do a lot of international travel, content providers don't want you to have access to their products outside of your homeland. The Balkanized mentality of the DRM Dictatorship is way out of touch with the modern world.
At least Apple, to its credit, allows you to use your accounts outside of your homeland as long as you have the proper credentials for them. Most other services use the more Draconian geolocation filtering which does require you to be physically present in your homeland. For the most part, you are not allowed to leave home if you want access to your favorite entertainment!
