G5 Dual 2.7 continually locks up and fans rev
This is an ongoing issue I've been having with this machine for several months now. The machine will completely lock up and usually the fans rev up to very high speed. Most of the time it's only a few minutes after starting up but sometimes it will also happen on the gray startup screen. It's running OS X 10.5.8 and I've stripped off every peripheral except monitor, keyboard and mouse. I've done several clean installs of the OS and even tried a new hard drive. I removed all third party RAM and it still locks up, I even removed the Apple RAM and booted with only the third party RAM to same effect. I've also swapped out the keyboard and mouse. Hardware Test has been run several times and always shows everything to be fine. I've reset the PRAM and NVRAM.
I've booted into Safe Mode and that's the only time the machine won't lock up.
Any ideas as to what's not loading in Safe Mode that would cause the machine to lock up during a normal boot? Graphics card? Power supply? It would seem to me it's definitely not a hard drive, RAM or OS issue so it must be another piece of hardware.

G5 won't start and fans rev way up
Just got another G5 Dual 2.0, First day went fine, second day, went to turn it on and no video, no chime, no keyboard or mouse, then the fans rev to jet engine levels. After resetting the PRAM, resetting the smu button, taking out and replacing ram and holding down different key configurations, nothing still. So I unplugged everything from the G5, and hit the power button, it started going through its normal paces, I plugged in a monitor and the desktop was there. But after shutting down, it reverts back to the fan revving. So I realized that it must be the power supply...so I unplugged the G5's power cord from the surge protector and plugged it into it's own brand new surge protector with nothing else plugged into it and that solved it, it starts up perfectly with all of my peripherals plugged in, like it should. I was about ready to box it up. Hope this helps

Mac Mini locks up and fan runs on high
I just bought a new (refurbished) 2012 Mac Mini from Apple. It's the i7 quad 2.3 version.
I haven't done any power using at all. I bought it to start some home recording as a musician.
I've owned it a week as of today and it's locked up twice with the spinning ball of death while doing nothing. Both times I only noticed after hearing the fan running really loudly for awhile. It wasn't being used either time, just sitting idle. I heard the fan, walked over and tried to click on something with the mouse and the SPBOD popped up and stayed for 20+ minutes. Finally just had to shut it down with the power button.
I can't keep this thing if this is going to be a weekly occurrence. Does it sound like a defective unit?
It has the server option which I stupidly clicked on and configured when setting it up. I don't need a server and didn't really know why I activated it. Now as I understand it, there's no way to "undo" it or remove the software easily. Could the server app be the issue?The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

PowermacG5 issues hardrive not recognized and fans rev up.
Machine won't boot up to cd keeps giving an error message computer can't install this OS. Then on top of that it doesn't recognize the hardrive and the fan starts to rev up pretty loud after awhile. I did a diagnostic test and nothing came up. I also rest the SMU and the following below and still nothing just got this machine folks and I need help. I was able to format the drive using the firewire and my macbook pro but still couldn't boot into an os and the drive still wasn't recognized on its own. Do macs have any issues with certain brand drives if so I hope I don't have it but then again that would be an easy solution. Any hints folks
To boot into Open Firmware, shut down your Mac, then start it up while holding down the Command, Option, O and F keys. At the prompt, enter the following commands (you may want to write them down on a piece of paper before beginning this process), pressing the return key after each:

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.) -

I just tried to install new ram, but now it won't start up. I put the configuration back to what it was, but still not starting up. It makes a different beep then the fan gets really load, and the blue light flashes slowly...

Have an HP Pavilion p6540y & it has continually locked, frozen & blue screened us to no end. Help!
I have an HP Pavilion p6540y just over a year old (ie no more warranty) & it continually locks, feeezes and blue screens us to death. We have reloaded windows 7, reloaded Office & in the last 2 weeks changed out the hard drive.
Also have updated with latest BIOS software & done all recommended steps to stop "sleep" issues
Any solution? Or is HP unable to build reliable products & support them when they crash.Ok, well, I called the tech support here in athens greece, and what did the guy told me? that I have to get the recovery cds as long as I deleted the recovery partition and did not make any recover y cd before deleting it. Fair enough I told him, I can understand this, but, I told, are you sure I am going to be able to actually install an os on this computer, cause I've already tried to install windows vista home premium, but the same thing happens, it return the same error as with windows 7 and xp! He said, yes, you're going to succeed, so I told him, ok, that means that there must be some kind of block inside the computer, most probably inside the bios, that prevents the installation of anything except the exact copy of the os that was preinstalled, and he didn't know exactly what to tell me, but more or less he told me yes, there is! Is that right, could the bios be blocking the installation of any other os? I can see in the bios that it says "preinstalled os: vista" something I've never seen in any other computer, but, can they do it? And why is this guy so sure the problem is that I was not using the recovery cds with the pre installed version of the os, couldn't be a cd/dvd drive problem? I have to pay for those recovery cds, what if it gives the same problem with those too?
Also I wanted to ask if someone knows how to make a bootable cd with the bios update, I mean which files should I extract from the exe, where and with what do I have to put them, etc., if someone coud please help me at least updating the bios, I could try installing the os from a usb key, so that I could tell for sure if it's a problem of the dvd drive.

Iphoto locks up, and does not recognize our camera consistently

We have two iMac computers, V10.6.8, and on one of them, iphoto continuously locks up and freezes. We have to use a key command to escape this situation. Also, sometimes, this same Mac does not recognize the Nikon camera which we've always used on it. How do we remedy these problems, please? Do we need to completely uninstall iPhoto, then reinstall it from Time Machine? Thank you for any and all help you can send our way! God Bless!

No ideas on how to take care of this situation, then? Guess a trip to the nearest Mac store will be scheduled, and see if they can help us figure out why these two things are happening with iPhoto. My iPod 5th generation is stuck on the lock screen and I tried restarting it 4 times and it continues to get stuck on the lock screen. What do I do.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have recently installed Adobe XI Standard and it continues to lock up and close down the product?
We originally had Adobe 9 Standard installed and it never locked up, but with the newest version it appears to be a daily occurrence that it will lock up and shut down the program. I have uninstalled the program completely and re-installed and that did not solve the problem.
Do you get the opportunity to see the complete error send data to Microsoft via an error dialog? If so you can grab the Windows Error Log and post it here on the forums.

IPhone 5 lock-ups and crashes after iOS7 upgrade
On Wednesday I upgraded to iOS 7. While I like the new look and functionality, I have experienced a couple of OS crashes/lock-ups in a way that I had to force-reboot my iPhone by holding the sleep&home buttons.
There are two situations where this happens for me: First, when the phone is locked (4-digit passcode), I swipe to unlock, then I try to type the passcode, but the device is completely locked up and doesn't accept any input. It doesn't react on the sleep and home buttons either.
The second situation is when answering a call: Phone rings, I swipe the green button to answer, then the screen goes black and the device seems completely bricked until force-rebooted.
Case 1 has happened 4 times so far since wednesday, case 2 happened three times (answering three different phone calls).
The device is an iPhone 5 64GB I bought in October 2012.
None of this ever happened to me before the upgrade to iOS 7.
Doesn anyone have the same issues? Where can I get help on this?I have this issue as well and I did a hard reset and restore from icloud and did the same from my computer and neither of them fixed the issue. Of course I would be outside of my warranty period. My phone continues to crash at least 4 to 5 times a day. Please help us!!!

We've an article that provides the following troubleshooting steps that may help stabilize your iPhone.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:

Help! My computer locked-up and had to be rebooted. However, when I restarted it and hooked up my iPod, I noticed my existing iTunes library (all 450 GB of it) was GONE and was replaced by a brand new library. Fortunately my old, 450 GB library is still on my hard drive under iTunes in Windows Explorer. How or why could this have happened, and most importantly how can I restore my old libary without having to manually import allow of my music and hundreds of Podcasts and 16000+ podcast files?
Thanks for any help....What you're describing is the expected behaviour. I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times. If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—. Your wife does have access to it.
In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above). Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual. You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes. She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself. One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac. If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.

Why do I get an apple on my Ipad after it locks up and then comes back to life?
My wifi 32 gb Retina Ipad seems to crash . Seems like it started after IOS 6 upgrade... Looking at web pages it might just close application... Not too bad ,, then on occasion it will lock up and I hold the side button and then push the home button and it will go dark and then show a white apple in the middle and then after a while repair itself..... Any Ideas? Anyone know what the apple symbol means? Thanks Joe
If the reset and restore doesn't work, try and force your iPad into Recovery Mode (data will be lost)
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad

Premiere Pro CC locking up and very slow to load bigger projects
I am having a problem with premirepro cc locking up and very slow to load bigger projects.
Windows 8 machineI am having the EXACT same issue and now we are WAY behind deadlines. We have Adobe for Teams on 3 computers, all are HPZ820, Dual Proc with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 @ 2.00GHz, 32 GB RAM, Dual Video Cards Quadro 6000 4GB, Windows 7 64 bit with all the latest patches. Everything worked on the first release of 2014 but last week there was an "update" to Premiere. Since this update, projects work for a short period. When you start a new project and add footage, you can scrub the footage and play the footage with no issue. But the more assets you add, simple Titles, it slowly starts to fail. Playing the timeline starts and stops and then finally the end result is you can't even play the timeline. The Program window is frozen. I have even tested starting a new project, adding assets one by one but no matter what, I get the same results.
