G5 HD output to a Toshiba Projector

Hi
I wonder if you could help me.
I have a dual 1.8 G5, 2Gb Ram, running OS 10.4.6, with a Radeon 9800 Pro with 128MB of Vram. It has both VGA and DVI connections. I recently bought a Toshiba TLP-ET1 LCD Projector, which has VGA and Component video connections (Y,Pa/Cb,Pr/Cr). I wish to connect my G5 to the projector. I bought a Component Video Cable and a generic ATi DVI to Component Video Adapter. I have set the dip switches on the adapter to the HD signal my projector accepts, (480i etc.) and plugged the cables in. I restart the Mac and then during the first 3 attempts the projector states that the signal is unsupported. It then states that no signal is being received.
Can anybody help me to get this working or let me know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks

Is the ATI DVI to Component Video adapter compatible with the Mac? On ATI's site http://www.atitech.com/products/hdtvadapter/specs.html they only mention Windows operating systems under operating systems supported.

  • Win7 on dv6t can't detect Toshiba projector

I have a Pavilion dv6t-2100 (WH770AV) running Win7 Pro 64-bit, trying to detect a Toshiba TDP-T9 projector.  When I first connected it, it worked perfectly as I previewed a presentation.  Then I moved the laptop and projector to another room, and now the laptop "can't detect projector" no matter what I do.
When I connect the VGA cable between the laptop and the projector, I hear the tones of connection from the laptop, but the laptop screen goes black (no matter which setting laptop is on -- (computer only, duplicate, extend, projector only) -- and eventually I get the message "can't detect projector".  The projector continues to cycle looking for input, and cannot find anything.
I am considering getting a new driver for the NVIDIA GeForce GT 320 on the dv6t, but won't until I hear if others have had this problem and have resolved it.
    Thanks!

You should post your issue on the laptop forum.
Does the NVIDIA Control Panel should see the second device? Look under setting up for dual monitors.  The keyboard also has a video display rotate key function (LCD, LCD off and both).
You can also try a video driver update from the NVIDIA web site.

  • Final cut output through USB to projector

Does anyone know how or if possible to output through the G5 USB to my projector? I can do video out but i want two monitors and a projector. i appreciate any suggestions, thanks

Sorry, cannot output a signal thru USB.
Is that the only connection the projector takes? There is this option:
    #8 External Monitor Viewing.
    Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
    1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
    2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
    3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
    4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
    5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
    6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

  • Outputting for multiple screens / projectors

    Hello everyone
I am preparing a video installation that I would like to project through 3 projectors onto three walls side by side. I would like to slide video clips from one wall onto the next or even stretch one video footage onto all 3 walls. (with the effect that subjects from one wall glide onto the next wall without the audience perceiving any dividing lines)
How to do that? Doe anybody have experience with such set-ups? I was thinking that maybe I could define my project settings with a video frame that would have the hight of a standard 4:3 screen but its length would be 3 times as long. I then could insert three separate footages: one to the right, one in the center, and one on the left. - DOES THIS IDEA WORK?
and if it works, can I then just burn a simple DVD (using DVD studio pro)? What would be the final result: 3 small projections or one big image stretching (as intended) over the area of 3 walls/projectors?
I hope I could explain myself clearly enough! If my text seems vague, then it is because I can't really predict where during the production I could encounter problems. And it's good to start a new project with the right decisions.
thanks for your suggestions and help,
    Hynek

I had the opportunity to talk to two video-artists and this is their solution:
    *Matrox TripleHead2Go* http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/
(The company offers different multiple screen solutions)
you then just edit your film on a 2160*576 Frame = 3*long normal Frame (720*576). Just make sure your pixel aspect ratio is the same as the imported video. I use a square pixel aspect ratio.
Nevertheless, thank you for your support!

  • How to connett via hdmi and VGA adapter for my Toshibe 3LCD data projector

My  HP Pavilion running windos 8.1  can not converse via HDMI A to VGA adapter to Toshibe TLP470Z data projector

Checking the manual for the Toshiba projector, found HERE, it states:
The projector cannot be connected to a computer that does not have
an analog RGB output terminal. For details, refer to the computer
    manual.
    • You may not be able to connect some computers to the projector.
The model number of your Pavilion PC would be most helpful.

  • Toshiba vga output to lg vga input flashing issue

I did a vga output from my toshiba satellite L355D-S7901 to my LG tv and it works fine for the most part, but I have periodic flashing on the tv when I'm watching video or anything else. How can I correct this issue?

    Welcome to the forum.
I'm responding to this because no one else has so far, not because I have experience with what you want to do in connecting a T61 to a TV.
First, yes a T61 can play downloaded videos. If for some reason you have problems with playing specific videos I'd suggest you install VLC media player for Windows. This software can play virtually all audio and video formats. It's never let me down.
Now as to connecting the T61 to a TV, there are adapters that go from a USB port on the T61 to an HDMI port on the TV. Here's one example, IMAGE Lenkeng LKV325 USB to HDMI Adapter Converter with 3.5mm Audio Cable. You can buy similar adapters at Best Buy etc. so you might want to bring your T61 to the store and make sure the adapter works before you buy it. In particular you will need to ensure that you have a 3.5mm audio input on your TV (or AV receiver, etc.) If not you'll have to rely on the built-in speaker in the T61 which may not be ideal.
You will also need standard HDMI and 3.5mm audio cables to go from the adapter to the TV. These are available in many lengths, e.g. 3', 6', 10' etc.

  • How do connect iPad wireless to a projector for use in classroom?

I want to be able to utilize my iPad in the classroom as I would an airtablet.  Is there a way to do this?

Probably the simplest way, if you want to remain wireless (not be cabled to the projector) is to buy an AppleTV and use Airplay to mirror the iPad to the projector that way. AppleTVs have HDMI outputs, so if your projector has that connection, you just need an HDMI cable - otherwise, you will probably need an HDMI-VGA adaptor.

  • Connecting to LCD Projector

Before owning my current MacBook pro Core2Duo I had MacBook Pro CoreDuo and PowerBook G4. With these previous laptops I was able to connect to LCD projector no problem. Now I am in Japan in big business meeting trying to connect my newest MacBook pro to the same projector as was working with my older Mac and nothing. I tried mirroring on and off, change projector resolution, change display preferences. Nothing. I had to copy my PowerPoint to someone who had Dell PC and work off it.
Any idea how to fix MacBook Pro that it would work with LCD displays.

    Hi,
I had some trouble initially, too, but now I use the "detect displays" option and it usually works fine. Here are a few more tips copied below--these are not my own--but I forgot to make a note of who to credit.
    Good luck,
    Bill Durbin
    Projector Troubleshooting
For some reason, Apple thinks it's important that you connect the VGA cable to the adapter first, and then the adapter to the computer, in this order. Have you done this?
Try forcing the MacBook Pro to re-detect displays by pressing F7 (or Fn+F7 if you have customized the function keys).
Go to System Preferences>Displays> and click on “detect displays.” Also go to Arrangement and then check the box that says "mirror displays."
Also try setting the resolution output to whatever the projector is (1024x768?).
"To detect the TV or other external device, hold down the Command (x) key and press the F2 key. You can also open the Displays pane of System Preferences and click the
    Detect Displays button.
6 To adjust how the image is displayed on the device, use the Displays pane of System Preferences."

  • Using digital projector with macbook

A basic question from an escaped PC user.
What keystroke is used to tell my macbook to send the display output to an external projector?
I need the equivalent of the F8 key I used on my work supplied PC laptop
I have purchased the link cable so the hardware side is OK .

As usual with a apple you don't need to do anything! I use mine for presentations and you just plug the projector in and hey presto.
You can adjust the screen setting in System prefs, Displays.
If you use iWork, Keynotes is great using this setup. You can run the display on the projector and get a real host of info. up on the MacBook display.

  • Dvd/vcr hdmi output to iMach

Can I get HDMI output from a Toshiba VCR/DVD player/recorder to play on my IMac (21.5/mid-2011)?   If so, what kind of connector or converer do I need?  Can it be a simple as an HDMI to Thunderbolt displayport connecter?

I see you have been connecting your TV via HDMI to the notebook for the last two years. You have always been able to disconnect and reconnect the TV without issue, but today you get the message no input.  You have already completed the troubleshooting steps to no avail.  When you turned on the TV and then the PC and you had the Windows logo come up, it is receiving a signal, but looses it once the driver is installed. Here are the two suggestions I have. You can try reinstalling the original driver using the HP Recovery Manager.  Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). If that is not successful, I would do a full recovery.  Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8).
If you would like additional help. please provide your exact model of HP G6 you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

  • Projector compatability?

    hi all, i'm interested in a toshiba projector (costs around £230) but wasn't sure if it is compatible with the mac. I emailed toshiba and this is what they said;
"thank you very much for you inquiry via e-mail. In general, the TDP-S8 supports any SVGA signal via the monitor-in interface
(D-sub 15 pin socket) coming from a computer. As long as the graphic chip in your Mac supports an SVGA resolution ( 800
by 600 pixels), the projector can be used with a Mac as well."
can anyone shed any light on this? or maybe advice on a good projector in my (bottom end) price range?
    many thanks
    shane

    Shane,
This SHOULD work but I would see if you can get ahold of one and test beforehand. The MBP's have been known to be picky when it comes to projectors. I personally am only able to get mine to work with ~50% of the projectors i've tried so far.
Some folks have had good experience using the Dr.Bott GHead II to trick the MBP into sending the signal but for me this isn't a great option and i find myself asking why such a high end laptop has issues with such a basic function.
I reported this to Apple when i bought my MBP (1.5 years ago, it's 1st gen) but nothing seems to have changed. If you search this forum you'll see folks with issues even with the newer "Santa Rosa" versions.
so bottom line, test before you buy.
    hope this helps.

  • LCD Projector Limits?

Despite getting the dock and the VGA adapter and being told that the Overall Ipad screen display would project onto the LCD projector, the only thing that will project are movies(even YouTube yes) and pictures -- but not anything else
Was hoping to display an App at a conference this week
Anyone have any different outcomes, or at least a creative idea?

I am completely bummed out. Today I had a chance to show off the iPad to a group of 200 Windows users, quite a few of whom are interested in purchasing the iPad. I just bought the VGA adapter.
Much to my shock and disappointment, the iPad could not be seen by the Toshiba projector to which it was attached. What's the point of having a VGA adapter that doesn't display a VGA signal on a video projector?
This is such a crippled product that I will surely return it to Apple. Such a bait and switch.
Please, please Apple. Fix this problem in firmware immediately. You are losing customers and opportunities to win the hearts and minds of people when we can't even show how exceptional this iPad is.

  • Degraded VGA output following Snow Leopard 10.6 software updates

IN the last two weeks I have accepted all Snow Leopard updates. Since installing these updates, the VGA output to a Data Projector and a VGA monitor have degraded, lost colour resolution and gained a red filter effect. I have tested this failure on an updated 3 year old iBook, same problem, and on a 1 year old MacBook Pro - same problem and on my 2008 MacBook Pro. The common link is that all 3 machines have taken all updates issued up to Friday 16th April. But on my MacPro, I have not installed any updates in more than 6 weeks and the problem does not occur when the MacPro signal is sent to the same data projector used with the laptops. Further, a friend has tried their family IBook that has not had any recent 10.6 updates and it works without a problem. There appears to be a problem in recent updates that degrades the VGA signal. Has anyone else had a problem with a post update laptop on a Data Projector and get the same problem, but does not get this problem on a pre- update laptop. The updates were only released in the last 4 weeks.? Warren

Thank you to those of you who have provided support for this problem. I have spoken to the Apple Technical people who have read this thread and expressed concern that it was so repeatable. I think that's there way of saying it may be a software problem I think.
I promised to try one more test for them. Yesterday I received my brand new model MacBookPro 15" i7 processor running the 500Gig 7200 HDD(oh so very nice). This has come with the latest 10.6.3 etc. Took all the instal upgrades. Connected it to the same data projector that 3 of the 5 other machines we have tested, and the same problem exists.
Remember 3 of the 5 have been upgraded to 10.6.3. and the two that still work are running 10.6.2 or lower. There is clearly a software issue now, and I am hopeful the technician I spoke to yesterday is monitoring this thread and will pick up this message. I have a case number so I will call them (when I can find where I wrote it down) next week.
From your feedback folks this is consistent with what you have been seeing also. I also notice in another discussion forum on this site, there is a reported "screen" dimming when connected to a VGA screen. I suspect this is the same problem.
Apple - over to you, I think you have a bug in 10.6.3 (patch and full install)

  • Ibook video output

does the video adapter for current ibooks require that the tv you are connecting to has an s-video connection? if so, is there any other kind of cable/accessory available that will give you either an av or scart connection - like the video adapter for the older ibooks does?
    thanks

That is incorrect. The iBook G4 specifications indicate
VGA video output for video mirroring on an external display or projector (24-bit color) with included Apple VGA Display Adapter.
S-video and composite video output to TV or projector (requires Apple Video Adapter, sold separately)
You only need the Apple Video Adapter M9109G/A. Also see KB 88396, iBook video output cables/adapters and resolutions.
