G5 just went into overdrive. Had to sut off power cold, then wouldn't start

My PowerMac G5 just had a dippy fit!
It was asleep, I tried to wake it, but it wouldn't wake up. Instead, the computer started going into overdrive! - I think it was the fans, they were whirring like crazy! The keyboard wouldn't work, the screen was still asleep, the reset button wouldn't work. I had to switch off the power at the mains.
After a while, I powered it up again, only to find it wouldn't turn on. So, remembering previous experience I opened it up and reset the CPU thingy (can't remember the exact name). It is now working normally once more. (Quite pleased with myself there!)
But, I am concerned that it might happen again, this time worse. What could have caused my problem? Is it something I need to worry about or does it just happen from time to time? What can I do if it should happen again in future?

Hey, thanks for responding so quickly.
I did read through that troubleshooting section, however it says in the beginning that if you hear the fan or the lights come on to go to the no video section. The video section doesn't seem to reference any of the symptoms i'm having.
I do have power. So its not a cable/power supply issue.
I unfortunately do not have a way to test the monitor...it is getting power because the indicator light is on. (Its a 20" Apple display btw)
Plus there's no startup chime and it doesn't sound like the hard drive is being accessed but i can't tell if the sound i'm hearing is strictly the fan or what.
Its almost like the computer is in sleep mode right from startup.

You will need to put the phone in recovery mode, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808, you shouldn't loose any data the program will backup your iPhone first before the restore.

OK I've had my mac on for way more than 24 hours, constantly streaming music and with multiple applications running here and there. It's been lying on my bed so perhaps the outflow of convection from the fan at the back was restricted too. I am also in a warm room, it's not toasting hot though. I expect its normal for this to happen, but not enouraged? I turned it off for ten minutes and gave it a wee rest and everything still works.

IPhone 5 went into recovery mode trying to upgrade to iOS 8.1

So last night i tried upgrading my iPhone 5(iOS 8.0.2) to iOS 8.1. Initially the phone hung up maybe due to network being slow and i rebooted my iPhone which took around 10 mins just to come back on and then took about 2 hours searching for my network but in vain. Then i retried iOS upgradation only so that my network can come back. Upgaradation failed but network came back.
Today i went to a much better fast network and started my upgrade. An alert came of text "Verifying Upgrade" and after about 10-20 minutes my phone just went into recovery mode showing the Connect to iTunes sign. Now it keeps on saying restore which will delete all my data plus i need to download the entire 1.87 gb of it instead of just an up gradation of 64-65 mb. Now what am i supposed to do.
I have been using Apple products for the past 5 years almost as i am a iOS developer myself. Apple is really starting to loose it. I never had OS problems before and even the iOS 8.0.2 was too slow for my phone. Now this phone is not under warranty anymore so what i need to know from Apple ASAP is what do i need to do to make my iPhone up and running and i think they should cover this as this is their OS problem.

If your phone is in recovery mode, then connect to iTunes and restore your phone.

Apple doesn't replace the screen, they replace the entire phone. If you've tried the basics (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) and your screen is still broken, bring it to Apple for replacement. If you're not in the warranty period, you will pay $199 for the replacement.

3.3mhz iMac, just had Maverick installed and as I tried to upload Pix, the finder went into a wheel of death and since that point, have lost the ability to even type on ANY applicat would not come out of it.. did utilities and have no idea what to do next

Have a iMac 3.3 mhz, tried to upload pix to an app and Finder went into the wheel of death and would not come out.. When it "Got Lost" I also lost the ability to even type on the machine in ANY APPLICATION. Have run utilities, made repairs and still no typing/text. On Thurs or Friday (10/24 or 10/25) Maverick was installed so this may be a problem that it created. As it happens I didn't ask for Maverick. How do I fix the "Finder" on the machine if i can't even type on it??

HT201442 Just bought a brand new ipod touch a month ago and went in to iTunes. There was an update for me so I downloaded it to my ipod and then it went into recovery mode. Tried to restore it in itunes but was told this device isn't eligible. Help!!

Just bought a new ipod touch a month ago. Went into itunes to burn music and had an update to download which I did. Then I get a message that my ipod has gone into recovery mode. It's locked up with a black screen with iTunes logo and picture of a plugin on the screen. Tried to restore it as recommended but itunes said this device isn't eligible for the requested build. Error codes 3194 and 17. This is very frustrating considering the cost of the ipod and how new it is. Now what do I do? Buy another one? Can anybody fix these types of things? Is this a common occurance or am I just unlucky?

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11.1.5) Installed on your computer

1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.
Note on Recovery Mode.
You may need to try this More than Once... Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...

HT201250 I just did my first back up with TM and My Passport for Mac, when done adn went into the box ....options...to try and fidn how to delete trash. Then I went back to see if it was erady to do its next scheduled back up and it says there is an error

I just did my initial back up to hard drive (My Passport for Mac 1TB) with TIme Machine on Snow Leopard. I had wanted to omit trash but couldn't find it. All went great and finished in an hour. Then said would restart at 6pm. I went into options about 20 minutes before (when it was done initially) to try and find how to delete trash from being backed up next time.. THis messed things up and now it doesn't recognize the disk and won't let me manually back up...says error. What do I do?

Hi all, i just got an Email plugging a NEW app in the APP store, rather worryingly it went into my SPAM folder and it was from a company that i had never had any communication from or too ever before.
I thought it cant be a Virus/Spam but why did MAIL think it was SPAM
it was from APP SOFT STUDIO the APP is called "Smart Image Convertor"

Try plugging your ipod into your computer. Then start up itunes. Let it load everything. Then click on your ipod and play a song from your ipod's library. Not your itunes library. If it plays the song, then go ahead and stop it, disconnect your ipod, and check the content once again.
I had the same problem and beleive it or not, this worked. I synced my ipod like 5 times before finding this answer on the web. Let me know if I need to clerify anything.
