G5 Power pc Garage Band

I bought a G5 in 2009 used. Similar to a used car right
I can find  parts for an old cessna or toyota but I cannot find parts for an old power pc.
Gas still runs in those vehicles. Yes gas no longer runs the old G5, OS X 10.6 and up do not repect the old power pc.
Where can I get garage band that was installed on the G5 when it was new, similar to finding a wiper blade for the back window I thought, though that seems to be much easier.
I have had to reinstall from the CD-s a couple years ago and I have also read the package files and garage band is empty.
I will not download illegal software or unauthorized dmg-s.
I have digital performer, ableton and others running great on this old beast, but I need garage band to work with a students...
I bought the old mac, I did not retire it and do not have plans to either. Just like I did not retire the old Toyota right
Southwest air is still running their old jets...I want to run the G5 as long as I can.
THanks in advance!

If you want to run GarageBand on your G5, try to find iLife '06 and an installer for GarageBand 3.0.5 ( GarageBand 3.0.5)
Search at Amazon or eBay.

First thing to do is a SMC Reset, you can find instructions at:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!!
Then try Repairing Disk Permissions, do this at least 2x. You will find this in Disk Utility which is located in Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility.
Finally you may need to uninstall Garage Band and reinstall. You may have to use Pacifist to do this, you can find it at:

  • Garage Band 4.1.2 on Power Mac G4 messed up

I had problems trying to change the tempo of the song, it always froze. So I tried to replace my Garage Band 4.1.2 with the same from my laptop that is an Intel one though. I guess that messed it up completely. Even if it doesn't show anything or doesn't tell that architectural thing it would start and freeze right up not loading the play button bar.
Is there any patch for it I can download from Apple or third party that would enable it to run on a G4 Power Mac/10.5.8 ?
    Thanks
    bafomet

It was hard trying to find anything on 4,1.2 for me. Everything was GB1 or 3 at best . There is a cd that's out there but no one carry's it in my town. One good way to go about it is watch all the tutorials & in apple seminars there are 3 videos totalling about 45 minutes of info. With that you will be able to get started & any Q's you have will be answered in this forum ,also check out http://www.bulletsandbones.com/index.html ---

  • Yamaha KX61 USb MIDI keyboard doesn't work in Garage Band

I have installed latest Yamaha USB-MIDI driver V1.2.0 for Yamaha KX61.
I have connected USB cable to Mac Mini and turned the keyboard on.
In Other section of System Preferences I can see an icon for Yamaha USB-MIDI. In there I can see Device Name: Yamaha KX.
Yamaha KX61 is visible in Audio MIDI Setup utility under Midi Devices tab with Port 1, 2 and 3.
In GarageBand application Audio/MIDI preferences it shows "3 MIDI inputs detected" but Audio Input gives 2 choices only: System Setting and Built-In Input.
When I turn Keyboard off, Garage Band responds with message "The number of MIDI inputs has changed. Now no input is available." And then it shows MIDI status: 0 MIDI Input(s) detected.
When I turn Keyboard on, Garage Band responds with message "The number of MIDI inputs has changed. Now 3 inputs are available." And then it shows MIDI status: 3 MIDI Input(s) detected.
I don't understand how to get the keyboard play with Garage Band when adding new software instrument tack.
If anybody able to use KX61 in Garage Band, please share your experience.

Hope its ok to answer you own question.
Just buy the Apple "Lightning to usb camera adapter".  Plug it into the ipad 4 and plug your usb male A cable from the midi keyboard into it and fire up the apps.  Works fine--I just tested it.  You must have a keyboard or other usb device that requires very little or no power from the usb port in order to work.  Also, it must not require a usb driver.  See iosmidi.com/devices for a list of devices that should work.
A lot of investigation (not on any apple site) allowed me to glean out this information.

  • How to get full sound library for Garage Band

I recently purchased the upgrade for Garage Band on my 06 iMac.  I received a huge library of sounds with the upgrade.  However, two days later, we had a power spike and I lost that computer.  So - I bought a New MacBook Pro Retna with the latest version of Garage Band on it, however, it is missing what seems likes hundreds of real instrument sounds.  Any suggestions?  Can't seem to find a way to downlod all thode extra great sounds like strings and sound FX.
    Thanks.

I recently purchased the upgrade for Garage Band on my 06 iMac.
What kind of upgrade did you buy? Jam Packs for GarageBand, like "Symphony Orchestra"? They are not included in the preinstalled version that comes with a new mac.
it is missing what seems likes hundreds of real instrument sounds.
Are loops missing or instruments? If loops are missing, do they appear to greyed out in the loop browser? If they are greyed out, have you pressed the little arrow to the right of the loop name, to download the additional content?
To be able to download the additional content, you have to accept the preinstalled iLife to your AppleID at the AppStore. Sign into the AppStore, go to the "Purchased" tab - "Accept" section, and press the "Accept" button for your iLife apps.
    Regards
    Léonie
If it are the JamPack, that are missing, post back please.

  • Best Midi Keyboard for garage band?

    Hi
is it possible to import wav samples into garage band, and then assign them to an external beat pad to create loops using an external beat pad?
Also, what do you guys think is the best midi keyboard to get for garage band? (if the beat pad thing works, i want to get a keyboard with a beat pad on it)
    THANKS

Here's the link for the M-Audio Keystation 49e 49-Note USB MIDI Controller Keyboard for exactly $89. Oh, and it's Plug and Play, no drivers, no AC power, just plug it into a Mac's USB port.
(And needless to say, I am another happy 49e owner)
Was there a particular reason you were looking at those two keyboards?

  • Recording questions for garage band

Hi I thank you in advance for your help, advice or direction in assisting me correct my lack of knowledge.
I recently purchased a macbook and it came with garageband and frankly I love this program!!
I am having a little trouble though with my vocals, I am using a behringer eurorack (the small one) to phantom power my condenser mic and it's plugged directly into my macbook using the typical rca jack. I seem to be getting sort of some distorted really deep vocals out of this. Like instead of recording my energy it's more drowned out kinda layered below the beat. I am not sure what setting I should use for my mixer and the computer. I keep my lows, mids, and hi's kinda half way up on the mixer, my gain is all the way down and my mic output level is a few notches up maybe four bars or so. On garage band I have the mic volume set up almost as high as it can go. Any idea on how I can try to get my mic to sound as normal as possible? Levels you can recommend perhaps..
Man I owe you guys alot... i'm very appreciative of the help thus far.. Thank you all.

Then we've ruled out the chance that you were still recording with your internal mic (it happens more often than you'd think!)
I would suggest turning up the mids and highs if the tone is too deep. Also you should have your gain as high as you can get it without clipping (i.e. before the signal goes into your computer)

  • Minimum Processor for Garage Band 3

    Hello Happy New Year!
I have a G5 1.8 that I use as my main computer, and use Final Cut, and Garage Band a lot of the time.
I also have a small sound studio in my basement, and would like to get another back-up computer to also use Garage Band, and Pro Tools.
The Apple minumum requirement for the installation of iLife 06 is a Power Mac G4 733 Mhz processor.
With this information, I'm leaning toward buying an 800 mhz, 933mhz, or even 1 Gig mhz Power Mac G4. Do you guys think I should shoot for no less than a 1 Gig Processor to be on the safe side? I'm also trying to safe a little money too.
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hi Hang Time
    How ya doin?
Thank you so much for your reply ....
"It depends on how far you plan to push GB, and how/what exactly you plan to record"
Yes well, I'd like to use the 2nd computer (with Garage Band), to record voice-overs. Say about 10-15 minutes of dialogue at any one time on a single Garage Band track. I don't intend to do any multi-tracking musical scores, but definitely some voice-overs.
    What do you think:
Say at least a 1 Gig Processor, and 1 Gig Minimum Ram?
    Thanx again
    Mike

  • HT3988 how to connect external keyboard to the garage band if its possible

how to connect external keyboard to the garage band if its possible,
is any body tried ? I have roland e66 keyboard and im trying to
connect with grage band but i dont know thats is possible??

You can definitely just connect a mouse and keyboard and then an external monitor and it will work. In the power options in the Windows control panel you will have a choice as to what happens when the lid is closed. Set it to "do nothing" and then you can shut the lid of the laptop and use only the external monitor.

  • Recording Level Low in Garage Band, Avid mBox mini, NT2

    HI there,
I have setup a home studio. I have a MacBook Pro connected to Avid Mbox Mini Soundcard, two speakers and a Rode NT2 condenser mic.
For some reason, the voice or acoustic recording level is very low...I can still record but the sound level is very low and if I increase the input volume then there is a terrible echo...I am sure there is something wrong.
These are the solutions I have already tried:
    - System preferences, I put the input as Avid Mini...and activate +48 button to power the mic.
    - Garage band, I move track volume to track pan, Monitor ON, 24bits...and the Recording Level is gray-out since I am using an external sound card (I assumed because of what I read).
Any idea on how I can solve this issue, I am sure there is something wrong, the mic and soundcard can record this bad.
    Thanks in advance. Mariano

Hi, thanks very much for your reply gjmnz...I finally went to Virgin like 7 times...during the same day...to figure out what was the issue...and here is what I have learnt:
    - The memory of the computer is very sensitive to recording, that is why I read some blogs saying that the mic is unstable, some times is picking up and sometimes is not...for instance I was using Torrents at the same time so the pick up was horrible...over time. Because the torrent and internet connection was eating my memory, event though I have 8gb
    - The other thing I learnt and I agree with you (thank you) is that you shouldnt be paying much attention to the leds levels in GB...that will miss you, you have to test and try different gain levels.
    - The last thing and what solved my problem, was to buy an analog mixer console for the mic to enhance the picking...And now it is working properly to the point that now it makes senses to use the lower of the Dbs...the NT2a has -4 or -8 for ambient noise cancelling...
Conclusion, for me at least...if you bought a Avid Mbox mini and you have a Rode Condenser mic (NT2a or NT1000, I tried both) the only way to enhance the capturing of the mic is to get a mixer console...
This is the one I bought http://www.mackie.com/products/402vlz3/ (it is ok...but works for home recording).
Hope this helps the rest...I read that the low volume issue is being around since 2007...and I saw a lot of question unanswered...
    Best, Mariano

  • Garage band/H2 interface distortion in recording?

I am using a H2 as a digital interface in my macbook, and after 10 minutes of recording multiple live tracks, I start to get a static like distortion, shown in the recording level indicator, and in the playback, of the track that I am working on. I have been able to record, with no distortion or problems, with the H2 by itself, but encounter the problem when connected to the Macbook. I suspect it is Garage Band, but has anyone else had a similar problem?
I am also getting a one third of a second delay with the metronome in playback, when recording another track on top of the original.
I took a Garage Band course last summer, and had no metronome problems, and had the distortion problem, 1 time out of 20, using the H2. Does this sound like a hardware or software problem? Thank you for any help

It does seem to be a problem with all Garagebands. I get this distortion, like white noise randomly (usually in the first 2 minutes) and I get this echo (not from monitors) after about 10 seconds of recording. I've tried my H2 on GB 3, 4, 5 on several different computers and they all have this problem. I've tried several updates to the H2, no change. I've tried several different USB cables, no change. I've tried with or without powered USB hub, no change. It still might be a power problem, not enough power from the USB ports.... BUT. I've tried the H2 on the one of the same computers and Logic Express and had no problem. I need to do some further tests but it seems the problem is in Garageband. I'm gonna try Audacity.... also some extended sessions in Logic Express. I do have one more computer I can try all this on as well.

  • Configure motu 896 w/ garage band?

I have an 896 HD interface and I have it configured for my power book and use garage band. My question is more of how to best configure the mic pre's in the 896 to get an optimal signal. I am recording with my electric guitar, but I'm not getting a strong, quality sound out of the signal. Do I have the Mic pre set improperly?
I know this is a garage band forum, but if anyone has an 896 and KNOWS how best to set it up, I'd appreciate some tips.
    Jamie
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Hi - The 896HD IS directly connected to the mac - the FireWire port works fine with other devices - I'm not daisy chaining & have tried your suggestion to park the AudioMIDIsetup.plist file in the Trash & still no change. - I have contacted Motu Support who have responded very quickly and have asked if I've reset the device & if the FireWire port is working - I've told them I've carried out the necessary maintenance and am now awaiting another response from them hopefully with a fix!

  • Garage band is not working on macbook pro

I just purchased a mac book pro that came with garage band.  I tried to open it today and an error message popped up and said that the program has an error - delete and redownload from the app store.  Well, first of all, I am new to the macbook - how do i delete and app?  And, secondly, when I went to the app store to install it, another message popped up and said that i have version 10.0 and that it was not purchased from the app store, do I want to purchase it?
    Help!!

    Try a smc reset:
Power off MBP, power back on after shut down. Hold the following keys:
Left shift, contol, option, press these keys immediatly after start up be fore the start upchime ring, continue to hold till the gear stops spinning.
    Reboot.
    Hope this helps.

  • Idrum not showing up as plug-in in garage bands generator

I tried the trial version of this program, it showed up and worked perfectly in the generator as a plug-in. I liked the application so much that I went out and spent 50$ for it. Now that I have purchased and authorized it after re-installation it is not showing up in garage bands generator as a plug in, but it still shows up listed under kits. I already restarted the computer several times. I will still be able to drag a pattern from Idrum but for some reason I cannot select the Idrum sound in generator. Help please, I really really hate the default drum sounds in garage so much and need the power of Idrum to help my song writing process. Thanks.

I actually did everything I was suppose to do, and quite correctly. The problem was that guitar center sold me an out-of-date copy of the program from 2004 which was prior to the rights being purchased by another company. I had to update the registration info and program.

  • Garage band crash at start up (2.0)

hi. i have a power pc ibook g4 1'42 ghz with 1.5 Mb ram. usually i work with logic pro & ableton live, but sometimes i prefer to start a project with an idea on garage band.
suddenly, the application started to crash, with no apparently reason. the only thing i remember is i installed some audio units plug-in pack before that happened, but i do not know if due this plug-in pack maybe the garage band stop to work. i've tried to uninstall manually the app. and reloaded again but nothing change, the application continues crashing down. i have send a report to apple in this matter, but i like to know your opinion as users. thanks so much, greetings from barcelona, spain.
    G4 ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Garageband is stable in all versions of X. The plugins are probably your problem. They are usually installed here:
    Macintosh Hardrive/Users/(your user name)/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
Check under the corresponding folder. (VST, AU, components, etc.) Try moving the plugins out of the folder and see if GB starts up normally. Place them back in one by one to determine which one is the culprit.
Expired demos are often a problem.
