G5 replacement graphics card dvi socket

Just replaced my dead graphics card with a new ATI 9600 AGP card. I’m running a dual 2.0 GHz G5 and a 23" Apple display. Problem I have is my DVI plug from the monitor does not fit the DVI sockets on the card!! The plug from my monitor has 10 pins and rounded corners and the 2 sockets on the card have only 8 pins and a square shape. Are there adapters that will connect the 2 or do I need to find a new card.

Hi-
Is this your connector?
Are these the cards connectors?
If "Yes" and "Yes", then you need a DVI to ADC adapter.

  • HP Envy Desktop h8-1414 PC, problem with replacing graphics card

    Hi,
I have a new HP Envy Desktop h8-1414 PC.  I successfully replaced the power supply with a 400 watt one.
I purchased a Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR5 HDMI / DVI-I / DP PCI-Express Graphics Card 11202-00-20G and installed it.  However, when I turn the PC on again, the monitor does not receive a signal.
Any suggestions?  Do I need to plug the power supply into the 4 pronged connection in between the graphics card slot and the cpu?

This unfortunately did not work for me. In the end of hours and hours of "support" for both HP & Microsoft all I had was a slow computer that I can't upgrade. The system cant run any of the graphics intense programs I use on a day to day basis. In the end I returned it for an Asus with an i7 processor, Windows 7 and a fully upgradable graphics card.
    Been happy ever since.

  • Replacement Graphics Card for Macpro 2008 with HDMI ports

    I have a Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) 2 x 2.8 Quad core with ATI Radeon 2600 XT Dual DVI.
I would like to replace this Card with something that has at least 1 HDMI out port that supports audio. I want to be able to use download/ iview features to watch TV shows on my HD LCD TV but sourced by the Macs browser.
The Current card only has DVI ports and does not support any audio so when connected to the TV I get picture, but no sound. Not Ideal !
I see that the cards on the Apple store don't have HDMI out.
looking for lots of ideas and experiences.

I see that the cards on the Apple store don't have HDMI out.
The apple 5x70's have 2 mini-displayports and a dual link dvi port.  The 5770 requires one aux power cable and the 5870 requires two.
You can get just as good as the name brands but much cheaper priced adapters and cables through monoprice.com.  For example, the mini-displayport to HDMI adapter:
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
There are many people who have put a 5770 into a 2008 mac pro.  Here's a google search of "5770 in a 2008 mac pro" which shows many discussions of this and even a video.
There's also some discussions on this in these forums as indicated by the More Like This section on the right side of this page.

  • Need a Replacement Graphics Card for Light Gaming

My current 7800GT overheats when gaming or even just running GLXgears. I need a replacement of similar or slightly better performance (preferably less than $100) for an nforce4 SLI board. How are the ATI drivers right now? I've heard they still have issues. I'm kind of wary of Nvidia due to the possibly wide spread defects. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia … ,6248.html
It seems sort of lose-lose. Which graphics card would you recommend?
Edit: Do either of these seem reasonable? Which is better? The 2600XT?

You might be able to fix your current nvidia.
Maybe try removing and re-attaching the heatsink/fan setup and cleaning ou the fan. You'll probably need some thermal paste to re-attach the heatsink, but it doesnt cost much. Keep in mind that graphics cards can run really hot, some have max temps over 150C iirc..
I wouldnt worry about that nvidia thing, it's probably not an issue now.

  • Graphics Card/DVI Input help...

    Hello,
Is someone could help me that would be great. I have a monitor that suppirts both VGA and DVI inputs. I want o use a DVI input but my computer only supports a VGA output, so I need a new graphics card. Could someone please recommend a good graphics card that would be compatible with my computer. My computer is a Gateway GT5674 with a AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 GHz, 3GB RAM and 32 Bit Operating system. Right mow it has a NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce430 graphics card. Thanks

upgrade with the 8000 series graphics, your computer i think comes with a 300watt power supply so you shouldn't need to spend any more money. i think the highest you can go is 8600gt/gs for the best quality.
if you don't play games 8400 is enough. even for high definition viewing.
if you play games, go with 8600gt/gts.
if you play games and want to go with the best picture possible, go with the 8800gt/gts (if you can still find one) u can find those really cheap now and they're actually like the best graphics card you can get for the money.
if you don't have a budget limit, you can get the gtx260/280 and upgrade the power supply to 600 watt or more.

  • Replace graphics card on 27" iMac

    Hello
The graphics card on my Late 2009 27" iMac has gone puff!
I've got yellow vertical lines on the screen and the only way I can get the machine to start is by removing the graphics extensions from the library... it's a pain in the but as it makes the machine unusable in it's current state - But I'm cool about it all as it still works perfectly well as a monitor for my MacBookPro
Anyway, all that aside, can anyone tell me if the cards are replaceable or are the soldered onto the mother board and, in short, I'm buggered!!!
I've already replaced the hard drive, so I'm happy enough to dig inside and change the thing if I can, I just did;t want to start only to find that it's soldered on!
If it can be replaced can any one recommend a good retailer in the UK that I can get one from?
    Thank you in advance!
if it helps the machines serial number is - VW*****5RU
    Regards
    Silver!

  • What replacement graphics card for Mac Pro1.1

My NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card is producing various screen artifacts and freezing on startup,
but not in safe boot mode. From reading this forum and posts for a couple of days I've concluded
that I need to replace my card and am thinking that the +ATI Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Upgrade Kit+
+for Mac Pro (Early 2009 or Early 2008)+ from the Apple site is the one to get.
I should add that I've tried all the usual fixes in case it wasn't a hardware problem. My question is
will the card work with my system (only Apple and Adobe software running OS 10.5.8 and one 20" Dell monitor).
Now I know this question has been asked and answered many times but I seems to work for some
and not for others that's why I ask again mentioning my particular setup in case that has some
    importance.
Thanks in anticipation of any advice.

How did you get on with your graphics card replacement?
My original Nvidia GeForce 7300GT is on its way out but I'm reluctant to pay nearly £300 for a replacement. Are there any other options available to me?

  • Replacing Graphics Cards in new MBPs

As we all know, the new MacBook Pros come with two graphics cards, one for normal energy-efficient use, and another for 'turbocharging.'
I was wondering if I could replace one of the two with another brand, namely ATI, for broader (ie Source) game support. I know that NVIDIA works for everything, but I've heard bad things about the cards when running Source games (unusually poor framerates).
Is the Energy Saver's options too restrictive for this, or could I make the computer think that say the ATI is the lower card?
    -Joseph Durel

Furthermore, the 9400m is not just a video card, but also the machine's chipset which is the system memory controller, and interface to things like USB, etc. Its a hybrid graphics chip / system chipset.
Also, as mentioned before.. Its not a graphics "card". It is not something you can simply remove. It is a permanent part of the machine and simply cannot be removed.. ever.

Does any know if it is possible to replace the graphics card in the 2.4GHz intel core 2 duo macbook?
I'd like to upgrade it to a card that fully supports OpenGL version 1.5
The card that is in it now only supports version 1.2

The graphics card can't be changed in a Mac other than a Mac Pro or Power Mac.

  • Replace Graphics Card

I have a Powermac G4 Dual 533 Digital Audio. I need to replace the graphics card. I am looking for a suggestion for the card to get and where I might find it. Thank you.
    Carol

    Hi-
Photoshop will benefit from any graphics card that supports Core Image and later versions of OpenGL.
The Radeon 9800 Pro or XT is a possible choice, or the Geforce 6800 GT or Geforce 7800 GS being two of the top possible choices.
All 4 cards support Core Image and OpenGL 2.0.
Any of the mentioned cards are available on eBay.
A card must be stated as Mac compatible or it won't work.
Prices will range from about $90 for the 9800 Pro, up to $200 for the Geforce 7800 GS (lower can be found).
If you can find one, the Geforce 6800 GT is an excellent performance choice, but any of the mentioned cards will be much better than the OEM that was in your machine.

  • 2009 iMac Blue lines and crashing - Apple replaced graphics card but same problem occurs? Any advice?

    Hi all,
So Ive had my iMac 2009 model for a fair few years, and barring getting the hard drive replaced a while part as part of their program, no troubles. Then a month or less ago, I got this weird crash during work. Small cubes of vertical blue lines appeared all over the display and froze everything. The arrow cursor still moved but had to hard reset. Then it would just constantly freeze and the blue cubes appeared again on startup so I could only get in using Safe Mode.
After browsing the web, I heard a backup restore might fix it, which it seemed to, but then it kicked in again. Took it to Apple who could see no hardware issues and the problem didnt occur while I was there because of the restore, it was more intermittent. So I took it home and it happened again.
This time at the Apple Store, they told me it was definitely the graphics card and took it in for repair. Service was great and a few days later I get it back, pay for the repair and come home. All fine and no problem for a couple weeks.
Yesterday it kicks in again! Same problem, cant boot at all outside of Safe Mode, which is erratic, has 5 columns of blue lines across the screen and Mail flickers like ****.
Ive booked it in AGAIN at my local store to check, but my question is does anyone have experience of what this could be, and also if the first repair was wrongly diagnosed and didnt fix the problem, will Apple refund that, or offset it against the actual repair if something else needs replacing?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, all the best!
    Leo

new card or not, I guess only Apple themselve will know, but Apple Authorised Service Centre can only replace with original card. you may consider to get your fan replaced too, as your iMac is getting old now and the fan might be getting weak to cool your system down.
well, this is only a suggestion. I've been an IT technician for years, and I do encountered graphic card keeps failing till we changed the fan, just sharing my experience.

  • Replacement graphics card for Satellite P100-188

    Hi,
my nvidia 7600 go graphics card has gone down in my laptop (blank screen, no vga output).
Does anyone know of any other graphics cards i can use as a replacement as i can't get hold of the original part anywhere (it is a stand alone card by the way, not integrated).

    Hi mate
I doubt you could replace only the graphic chip
In most cases the graphic card is a part of the motherboard.
Of course some chips are not soldered and could be removed but this are special chips and match only with these special boards.
As far as I know you could order all compatible parts from an local ASP but I think that it will not be possible to order only an stand-alone graphic chip but the whole motherboard for P100.
Nevertheless it worth to ask the guys in your country

    Hi-
There is a list of options that I made here:

eBay is a good source for graphics cards.
    Retail outlets are pretty expensive:

  • Replacement graphics card for 2006 Mac Pro?

My Mac Pro is a dual-core Intel Xeon, model 1,1 purchased in 2006. The graphics card is doing death throes. I can't afford a new computer, so I need to replace the graphics card.
Can I use any PCI express x16 card, or are my options restricted? (They were at the time - there was a choice of two.) If my options are restricted, what cards can I buy?
    Thanks,
    Pam

ATI 4870 is your best bet. Ignore what apple says about it not being supported; it is.

No, graphic card cannot be replaced on the notebooks.
Mostly the GPU chip is soldered on the motherboard.
