G50-45 stuck on splash screen

Installed the latest windows updates yesterday and one of them caused my apps to automatically minimize. Did a system restore and now my laptop has been stuck on the splash screen for the last hour.

hi recoil101,
When you said the system got stucked on the splasn screen, do you mean the Lenovo (POST) screen or the Windows loading screen (for Win8 / 8.1, this is where the white dots goes around in circles) ?
If the system hangs on the lenovo (POST) screen, try to:
1. Hold the power button until the computer turns off
2. Remove the AC adapter, battery, and other peripherals (eg. USB flashdrive, printers, etc.)
3. Hold the power button for 30secs and reinsert the AC adapter only then turn the machine ON and observe.
If the system hangs on the Windows loading screen (white dots that goes around in circles), then it's possible that one of those Windows Updates corrupted some of the Windows system files. If you didn't create a recovery drive using this method, try one of the following:
Option 1:
Enter Push-Button Reset (PBR) mode by holding the power button while Windows 8 is loading up (you may need to do this twice). If successful, Windows will run startup repair and boot into Windows. If it can't repair the error, you'll see this screen:
From here, click Advanced Options > Troubleshoot > Startup Settings and you can:
a. Boot from the Last Known Good Configuration
b  Boot into Safe Mode (if this works, restart the PC and see if it boots normally)
c. Do a System Restore again to restore Windows from a working state
Option 2:
Press the OneKey Recovery button and restore the computer to factory settings.

  • X305-q706 Stuck on splash screen where is says "Qosmio" with please wait...

    Hi,
recently bought a Qosmio x305-Q706. First time I booted it up it gets to the splash screen with Qosmio displayed with "please wait" at the bottom and hangs there forever. The only way I can get it to boot is to cold boot it and mash the F12 key while it's loading the splash screen, if i'm lucky I can get into the option where u can choose which device to boot, and if I manually choose the harddrive I can load windows.
Anyone hear of this issue or how to fix it? I've tried changing settings in the BIOS nothing. To Re-iterate, it's stuck on the pslash screen with Qosmio displayed, and if I press any key on the keyboard once it says "Please wait..." it just brings me to the bios :( .
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello
It is very stupid situation and I really cannot understand why notebook hangs on this start-up level.
Somehow is your Qosmio confused and cannot make decision which device should be first bootable device.
Is some external device connected to your Qosmio notebook?
Maybe BIOS update can help but if you have brand new notebook this is not solution. This is newest notebook and I presume there is latest BIOS version. So, if I were you I would contact either your local dealer and ask for replacement or Toshiba service directly. This behaviour is definitely not strange and notebook somehow hangs on BIOS POST (Power-On-Self-Test).

  • A135 stuck at splash screen

Normal shutdown; when i bootm, the comp is stuck at the Toshiba splash screen. F2 won't respond; f12 , if I tap repeatedly wwill say 'entering ..." but stays there (the splash screen.). It is not responding to the recovery disk. Lights say HD, battery, etc. are all good. Ideas?

    1) Try removing only the battery, leave the AC plugged in, power on.
    2) Try unplugging the AC, leave the battery in, power on.
    3) Try unplugging AC, remove the battery, remove both RAM modules, replace one RAM module in a different spot, replace battery & AC, power on. Repeat this process until you have tried each RAM module alone in each slot. See the installing/removing RAM directions starting on page 47 of your Satellite® A130/A135 Series User’s Guide.
    4) If none of the above works it could be a corrupt BIOS.

    5) As your system is likely off warranty, perhaps you should consider paying a professional for a diagnostic:
    Locate a Service Center
    Good luck.

  • Toshiba sattelite pro l40 stuck at splash screen

i was resizing some partitions and when i restart, it freezes at lubuntu starting up, restart again? stuck at toshiba splash screen. if theres no battery and just ac, f2 says enterring setup but stays in splashscreen, with onlly battery f12 says entering boot. and dosent change screen, i tried proper reset but still nothing, recovery cds spin up but the screen dont change.

I had a similar problem with FCPX sticking at the splash screen, this procedure worked for me.
Go to ~/Library/Caches and delete the "com.apple.audiounits.cache" file.
Then launch Logic Pro/Audio Units Manager and rescan all the audio plug-ins.
    FCPX should then startup normally.
If you don't have Logic Pro/Audio Units Manager try removing third-party audio plugins at ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

  • Windows 8.1 error code 0xC1900101-0x30017, stuck on splash screen.

I have a Gateway ZX 4270 series, every time I try to update to windows 8.1, it's stuck on the splash screen. For hours there would just a black screen that says Gateway. Then I would have to restart it, and it would switch back to the regular windows 8.
When I logged on, the error code 0xC1900101-0x30017 comes up. How could I solve this issue?

Most of issue like this regarding BIOS update
You should follow this document from Gateway to upgrade Windows 8.1

I suggest you revert back to Windows 8, and ask for technical detail to Gateway regarding this before you update your PC

The recovery loades files and then all I get is the mouse on the screen.
    Here's the diagnosis:
    Memory Test: Passed

It will need to be replaced. If you are in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not you can use a retail laptop SATA hdd.Just be sure to get one of at least equal or larger capacity as the original 500gb in order to use Recovery Discs.
You will also need Recovery Discs to install Windows and software/drivers on the new hdd. Hopefully you have made a set-if not they can be ordered from HP for a small fee.

  • Outlook 2013 stuck at splash screen even on safe mode

I was trying to add in an IMAP account to my Outlook 2013, when it hanged, so I forced-stop it via Task Manager and tried to restart the application. But right now, it's forever stuck at "Loading Profile" the splash screen. I tried to restart it
in safe mode too, but experiencing the same problem.
    Help?

    Hi altern4te,
First, perform a clean boot to find out about programs which are interrupting the Outlook. So, you will accurately understand the cause of this hang up.
It can be antivirus programs or something else.
For more about clean boot in Windows:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796
    Note:
As you are not able to open Outlook in safe mode, you cannot disable the add-ins which generally cause behind such types of disturbance.
Hopefully clean boot method will solve it, otherwise this can happen due to corrupt Outlook Data File or Outlook profile.

  • Thinkpad X1 Carbon stuck on splash screen

I bought a new X1 Carbon (20A7) a week ago and from time to time the laptop gets stuck on the ThinkPad splash screen when booting. I have to hold the power button to turn it off and then it boots fine. My brother has this problem with T540p, although this happens to him a LOT more often (also, if he waits patiently for 10-20 minutes, the system boots eventually, I havent tried that on my X1). It doesn't matter if the AC is connected, whether there is something connected to USB ports, whether it was a restart or just normal boot, there is no pattern that I can see, this seems random. We tried updating the BIOS to the newest version, our USB ports are not bent or anything, the SSD with the OS is set as the first boot device. This still happens. I see there are more people with thinkpads who have the similar problem, but their solutions do not apply (if there were any).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK, so I contacted support, Lenovo replaced my SSD drive (wrranty applies) and the problem is gone. The service guy said that SSD Firmware update using Lenovo application may have worked, but I had Ubuntu installed, so I was unable to run it.

  • Lookout 6.6 stuck on splash screen

    Hello,
I tried starting Lookout 6.6 and I am getting stuck on the splash screen.  This is happening to my server.  I am remotely viewing the computer.  I tried following the below advice from a previous thread and was stopped with error 1061 when restarting.
"Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services, restart/start National Instruments Citadel, National Instruments PSP Server Locator and National Instruments Time Synchronization. If you get error or no response in either service, this may be the issue. When lookout starts, it will wait until several services are started."
My whole system is down because my server isn't running, what can I do to fix this?

The error received while loading the application is in the attached image.

  • Aperture stuck at splash screen after HD ejection.

I am running the latest version of Aperture with the latest version of Leopard. Aperture works fine and never crashes on my Mac Pro. But when I eject a LaCie Firwire 800 drive from the machine I am unable to launch Aperture. This drive has nothing on it related to Aperture, n Vault or Library. I can open Aperture fine without it connected, but as soon as I connect it and eject it, Aperture will only open the splash screen and do nothing else, no beach ball or antything.
Restarting the computer seems to be the only thing that resolves this issue, any thoughts on what this could be?
    Thanks!

I have seen Aperture hang at the splash screen because it is waiting for disk devices. It sounds like your mac still thinks the Lacie drive is connected and is waiting for it. How did you eject it? Are you running any kind of soft RAID? How is the disk formatted?
That said, it's Lacie, so anything is possible. I have not seen much good said about their hard drives.

  • Final Cut Pro X STUCK at splash screen

    Hi,
I just bought Final Cut Pro X on the App store and it can't seem to get past the splash screen. It doesn't say loading compressor or anything. It just remains blank and seems to not load the program. I can still acess the dropdown menus at the top but nothing is very responsive. I've tried making a new project, bringing all windows to front, reverting to original layout, reinstalling, trashing prefrences and the file in application support. So far nothing as worked.
I'm running a Mac Pro Quad Core Intel Xeon with Snow Leopard version 10.6.8
I would appreciate any help ASAP because I have a deadline on this project I'm working on that is coming up at the end of the weekend.
    Thanks,
    Evan

  • PRE crash and now stuck at splash screen - HELP!!

I was working on a small project (5 mins) a couple of sound tracks and was moving one to different location and PRE crashed - now when I open the program up the splash screen is blurred and I can't select anything except the 8.01 update and those things - HELP - project due in 4 hours!!

    Eric
With regard to the original desktop icon which targets Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe
    a. if you do not have the program open via Adobe Premiere Elements.exe and you have closed the program that got opened to the Welcome Screen with Adobe Premiere Elements.exe, and if you go back to the Task Manager/Processes,
DO YOU SEE ANY INSTANCES OF "ADOBE PREMIERE ELEM,,," IN THE LIST OF PROCESSES THERE? If the answer is no, then I do not think that you have to worry unless you have a compelling need for the Welcome Screen. Just my point of view, but the only reasons for it being seem to be:
    a. For Adobe to monitor (track) your activities
    b. Quick access to photoshop.com
    c. Be kept up to date with Adobe Ads
You should have full control of your Premiere Elements projects using Adobe Premiere Elements.exe to open the program without the Welcome Screen. I just wanted to make sure that there is no evidence that you have 2 instances of the program being open at the same time.
If you look at the processes opening using Process Explorer Sysinternals, you will note
    a. if you click on the icon that targets Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe, the first process that opens is Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe, followed by Adobe Premiere Elements.exe and what looks like PhotoshopServer.exe. After Adobe Premiere Elements.exe and PhotoshopServer.exe appear, the Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe disappears from the scene leaving the other 2 processes as the running processes.
    b. if you click on the icon that targets Adobe Premiere Elements.exe, Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe never appears, just direct to Adobe Premiere Elements.exe and PhotoshopServer.exe which remain as the running processes.
I am not sure what happened to your Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0.exe file. But I do not see that you need it to move forward in your projects. I would be curious to know the whys, but is it worth it on your time schedule?

  • **!! SOLVED !!** MSI P7N Platinum SLI Stuck on Splash Screen

Okay, so I got a bunch of new hardware for Christmas and finally the rest for my birthday this weekend and I am stumped.  I got all installed and when booting, I get the MSI splash screen with the spaceship and nothing else...just stays there on the splash.  Only one beep like my other MSI boarded PC and no more after that.  I have tried reseating all components including CPU, ram, graphics card and still no luck.  Also have tried with mainboard out of case on the box with all connectors plugged in.  My hardware is as follows:
    MSI P7N Platinum mainboard
    Intel E8400 Wolfdale
    Corsair DDR2 2 x 1gb
    nVidia PCI-E 260 fx card
I have all else unplugged to eliminate as much as possible.  PLEASE help me salvage this because I have to say its been the most disappointing birthday ever this year LOL. Thanks guys!!!!
P.S.  Also tried reseting CMOS many times including overnight unplugged and mainboard battery removed.

OK everyone...problem is fixed.  As u all thought, the S-Spec of my CPU was not supported my the BIOS version (1.1) that the Mainboard P7N comes with...so the way I remedied the situation was to find (and purchase) a cpu that is on the cpu support page for mainboard that is supported by bios version 1.1.  I also must note, do not go by just the model number, go only by S-Spec number.  Once my Intel Celeron D 3.3 came today, started pc with a botable floppy (made by windows on my other machine) and flashed bios the old fashioned way with floppy disk.  After flash to version 1.3, put my CPU back in and what do you know...IT WORKS!!!   So got Windows installed and have been stable for about 6 hours now.  Thanks all who contributed...I love you all!!!  LOL

  • W700 Raid0 Windows 7 stuck on splash screen

    Hello,
I am a new member here. My W700 which is Raid 0 is having problems starting up. It runs on Windows 7. A couple of days ago when i tried to start up it hung up on the windows 7 splash screen and nothing happens. I forced shut down and start up but its the same. So i checked on the Bios and apparently it shows that one disk has an error. After that i took both disks out and cloned the disks as they are to backup my files. But the problem is when trying to mount the cloned disk on Ubuntu only one partition which contains the OS mounts and the rest give errors. Is there anyway i can fix this issue say by cloning and replacing the faulty drive to make my machine bootable again or anything?
    Thanks,

I did finally solve this and I figured I'd post my solution in case anyone gets here via google and it helps. After all the trouble I went through it turned out it just wasn't happy with a USB mouse I had hooked up. Once getting to the point of trying
everything I was thinking the only thing I had changed was the mouse, and sure enough I took it loose and windows reinstalled fine and is working fine so far.

  • G580 (2189) Stuck on Splash Screen during Boot process

Recently my G580 (2189) hangs on Boot.  Get the spash screen and pressing F2 or F12 does nothing.  Have to keep power cycling the laptop up to 10 times before the boot process succeeds and loads windows.
    Running Win7 Professional on G580 (2189) laptop.
Problem only recently started in the past couple of months after a series of Windows updates were installed.
    Disk Check reports no errors.
I have read this is a BIOS issue.  I have tried changing BIOS to EFI instead of UEFI, but the intermittent problem persists.  No updates to my BIOS are available through Lenovo, and I have found no insight when searching the forums.  I have found numerous people with the exact same problem, but what I read is that a new motherboard is called for from the people who have contacted Tech Support.  I have tried the battery removal, power button 30 seconds, etc. but it does nothing to fix the problem.
Everything worked perfectly up until about 2 months ago.  Never an issue.  Now my laptop stall on boot, and one stop doesn't even work when the spash screen is stuck and windows does not load.
Anyone know of the "cause" of the problem?  Is it truely a BIOS issue?
Any suggestions as to a solution.  Laptop only recently went out of warranty, and I find it bizzare that it won't even boot.  if it is a BIOS issue, I am guessing reinstalling Win7 Pro won't help.

Follow the below mentioned steps to resolve the issue:
Check if there are any external devices connected to the computer, if yes remove them and restart the system to check if the issue occurs.
    Perform Startup Repair:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/startup-repair
If the issue persists, then start the system in safe mode with networking and check if the Windows load successfully.
    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mf...
If it works fine in safe mode try performing a clean boot to find the root cause.
To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
