G505s CPU at 96 degree idle? Please help! Non-stop overheating!

Hello,
I have a Lenovo G505s. While idling the CPU temps run as high as 96 degrees, when I use the laptop cooler (which is practially always) temps stay at about 90. I use this laptop for gaming a lot and just todayI noticed a massive lag in everything I do. Internet isn't an issue, I've run all Lenovo Support scans and everything comes up "fine". Why is it constantly overheating? It literally begins overheating once I turn it on. Is my CPU permanently damaged now? This is a 6 month old laptop cleaned regularly with compressed air, well taken care of..

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Heating issues are commonly caused by dirty fan or a dried out Thermal Interface Material (TIM). Since you keep the computer clean by using compressed air, the problem might be because of the latter (especially if there are no apps running on the background that's eating up the resources).
It's also possible that the heatsink is not properly conducting the heat that the APU is producing, causing the CPU to to throttle (which explains the massive lag that you're experiencing).
You can try to replace the stock Thermal Interface Material with a good quality TIM like Noctua NT-H1, Tuniq TX-4, or Artic Silver 5 and see if the temperature decreases or contact Lenovo for service.

Problem... High CPU load with HDD. Please Help

Im stuck. Ive got a MSI KA790GX which has poor HDD access/transfer, low burst rate and very high CPU load.
As far as i know the Western Digital 640gb WD6401AALS Black should be a fast hard drive. Which according to reviews/HD Tune,
should be:-
Minimum 60mb/sec
Maximum 120mb/sec
Average 95mb/sec
Access 12ms
Burst 110mb/sec
CPU 5%
No matter what I try, i always get poor results...
My MSI KA790GX
Minimum 41mb/sec ~ 54mb/sec
Maximum 104mb/sec ~ 108mb/sec
Average 86mb/sec ~89mb/sec
Access 12ms
Burst 60mb/sec ~ 80mb/sec
CPU 26% ~ 44%!!!!!!!!
I could accept not getting the same high speed results as the review/reference, even if the burst rate sucked.
But one of the cores goes to 50%-60% load during hdd activity. Thats just crazy!!
I have tried...
IDE mode, AHCI, RAID Ready, RAID Single Disk
SATA Port 1, 2, 3, 4 + 5
Different SATA cables
Flashed bios, cleared bios, optimised defaults, failsafe defaults
Windows XP 32bit, Vista 32bit, Vista 64bit. fresh installs
MSI CD Drivers, MSI Web Drivers, AMD/ATI Web Drivers
... and combinations of.
I have also tested the WD640gb Black on another older PC, with Nvidia (55?) chipset and slower (1.9ghz x2) cpu.
Transfer rates were slightly better than my KA790GX but, Burst Rate = 115mb/sec and CPU usage = 13%.
I also tried a Seagate 1.5tb (ST31500341AS) on both PCs,
Nvidia chipset
Minimum 65mb/sec
Maximum 134mb/sec
Average 107mb/sec
Access 14ms
Burst 83mb/sec
CPU 7%
On my MSI KA790GX
Minimum 55mb/sec
Maximum 120mb/sec
Average 100mb/sec
Access 14ms
Burst 87mb/sec
CPU 33%!!!!
Could someone please please help, ive spent hours and hours on this. Its doin my head in.
I just hope its something stupid ive missed, cos i still not used my HD4850 from christmas :-(

Not sure how to check PIO/DMA mode on a SATA device. IDE devices show DMA enabled.

I have Vista 64, but i did try XP32 and Vista32 and got similar poor results.
I tested HDD speed with, HD Tune 2.55 and HD Tune 3.50 trial.
No auto-start programs really, Windows clean installs + any drivers.

But I have no reference and cant be sure of cpu load.

Bios defaults to C&C and C1E off so i have tried them. Also windows power settings, balanced/high performance.
UPDATE
Reinstalled Vista64 but loaded the AHCI driver from the disk config screen. This seems to have stopped the high cpu usage during disk activity.
HDTune with Windows Power settings @ High Performance,
Min = 52mb/sec
Max = 106mb/sec
Ave = 88mb/sec
Access = 12ms
Burst = 77mb/sec
CPU = 3.4%
HDTune with Windows Power settings @ Balanced
Min = 54mb/sec
Max = 104mb/sec
Ave = 87mb/sec
Access = 12ms
Burst = 65mb/sec
CPU = 12%
So now transfer speed is about 10% slower than reference. But burst speed is terrible.
I also used IBM Feature Tool to change the HDD AAM to 'performance mode' 254 as suggested elsewhere.
Long shot as the hdd performs ok with other hardware. same results.
Also MSI support asked me to try a newer bios, version 1.51. same results.
Anyone know what the AMD 7-Series Chipsets Disk Performance Utility does, and should i run it in Vista64?

With "idle" state, do you mean by that you are getting the message, "connected to idle instance" is it? if this is the case,there may be two things. One , your database is down means that your you have your db shutdown and needs to be restarted. The other reason could be that you are setting and trying to start a wrong instance. You may need to check back that whether a corrected sid is used or not?
To change this parameter, while being on the idle state, you can create the pfile from the spfile and in that, you can edit this parameter manually.
Issue this command while being inthe idle state,
create pfile from spfile;This would create a pfile in the $OH/dbs folder(in unix) or $OH/database(in windows). Edit that file for the said parameter and restart db with this pfile.

Over the past week, all videos that I try to watch on my iMac are flickering and shaking. This happens on youtube and all videos I come across on the internet. I just updated Java and it did not help. I can lower the resolution of the videos and the shaking will stop, but then the videos are blurry and I am unable to see any detail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My curve defaults to speakerphone when i answer any incoming call and so the identity of the caller is made clear to anyone in earshot - embarrassing.
After a second or two it reverts to the normal speaker which can only be heard by holding the phone to my ear. Does anyone know how to get it to stop the initial speakerphone broadcast?

I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Left Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

i have my iphone dock connected to my macbook that i work on during the day, i am really getting annoyed by itunes dancing around either to the front or simply waking from a minimised state (where i want it to stay) every time i end a call and replace the phone to the dock.
i have checked "disable automatic sync"
my phone is set to manually sync
i have even turned off itunes helper in the log in menu.
again itunes is running... but minimised on the dock, so syncing is not the issue, im happy it syncs, i just want it to STAY where i left it and not assume that the moment i plug i must also want to stop editing that doc and go straight to itunes to do something...

P45-C51 mobo. Mouse and Keyboard freezes frequently. Please Help !!!

Hi everyone. I just bought P45-C51 mobo a week ago. It was working fine then since yesterday and then frequently today I'm facing a real problem. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Whenever I start my computer and it reaches the desktop, after a couple of minutes the mouse and keyboard stops responding but the windows is not hanged as I can simply press the power button and it normally shuts down within 5 to 10 seconds. I checked it both with USB and PS2 version of the keyboard but both seems to freeze. I first thought it was something in windows but i think its something from the bios because when i turned my pc ON and went to the bios then there after 5 minutes the keyboard was frozen but the bios was normal as i could see the seconds change on the system information screen. Can anyone please point me in the right direction what could be the cause of this problem. All the specs are as follows.
Mobo: MSI P45-C51 (MS-7519)
Processor: Core 2 Quad Q8400
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb kit 1600Mhz (4x2)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 240 DDR3 1GB
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power 460 Watt
Casing: Cooler Master Elite 334 Nvidia Edition
HD Primary: WD2500AAKX 250GB
HD Storage: WD10EARS 1TB
Bios Version: 5.7
Cooler: So far none. I'm on air cooling. One CPU fan and two chassis fans.
Temps for CPU are under 40 degrees.
Please help anyone...

Hi Bernhard, Sorry for the late response. This problem was something related to that board physically as I searched and dig inside the motherboard basics in deep I found out that the ICH10 Usb Host Controller was giving me problems or their might actually be some problem with the South Bridge because thats what controls the low power accessories like usb, IDE sata etc... and thats why the keyboard and mouse was hanging. There were some more issue too with that board like Slow boot and resuming from hibernate took about 3 minutes and when I press the power button for the cold power on it usually power on after 3 seconds and some times it happened if i properly shutdown and then again power on it won't turn on (LEDs and fans start but no power on to the system) So i would have to switch off the power supply, disconnect the power cord and then wait 5 minutes and then reconnect and it turn on then.
What i did was go to the shop from where I bought the mobo and told him all the problems and replaced my board with a new one because it was in warranty and bought only eleven days before.
Thanks alot Bernhard for so much your time you spent on helping me on this issue. The new board seems to work great and I can see very significant different in performance and speed.
Two last queries I have if you can help me out. Can you tell me If i can use Cooler Master Hyper n520 Cooler on this board. I have CM Elite 334 Nvidia Edition Casing. And second thing is that the bios of this board 5.1 and the latest is 5.7. Should I care updating the bios version? If yes then do you suggest any hints on how to do this ?

Stop unplugging it.
At best, the percentage indicator is approximate and regardless of what your percentage indicator states, the battery will not go from 12% to 56% in one minute - and be able to run the iPod without dropping as much as yours does.
The behaviour that you cite is nothing unusual. If your battery is at only 12% when you plug it in, it will still take two or three hours (thereabouts) to be fully charged. In the meantime, the percentage indicator cannot be relied upon.
Charging a battery takes something like four hours from flat. So plug your iPod in and leave it alone for a few hours. The iPod Touch user guide for iOS 7 states that there is a battery icon in the top-right corner, which shows the battery level or charging status. It appears to be slightly different from earlier versions, but this is is what the guide shows:
I assume therefore, that when the iPod is fully charged, the lightning symbol disappears, leaving only the full battery.
If your iPod shows this lightning symbol when you put it on charge (not your % indicator, but Apple's icon), leave it on charge; check it every hour (maximum of four hours) to see if the lightning flash has disappeared. When it does, then - and only then - is it fully charged. At this time, when you unplug it, your percenatge indicator should show a much better level of charge.
Spend time enjoying your iPod instead of fretting about why a part-charged battery doesn't last as long as you think it should.
