G505s Dual Graphics

Is there a possibility to use only the GPU instead of the CrossfireX because GPU-Z shows the video ram being very limited when it is in dual graphics and the card is supposed to have 2gb of ram for the card.'
Here is a screenshot of the program showing how much RAM i have on the card for dual graphics... games dont run well.

Hi grisieyt.
I guessed both would not be listed, This is because they are running in crossfire mode.
Try opening catalyst control center, Right click on the desktop to access it, That should have the information you want.
If it does not download these two programmes GPU Z & PC WIZARD from www.majorgeeks.com.
Gpu z will list all graphics components on the motherboard.
PC Wizard will give you a overview of your entire system.
The SSD cannot hold the OS, Win8 requires between 20 & 30gb of storage, The (D) partition is where win8 is in case you need to re-install for any reason.
Why the SSD is not showing under computer is strange, You may need to get in touch with Lenovo support about that.
Let me know how things progress.

  • Lenovo g505s dual graphics?

I purchased a Lenovo G505s from PC world a few months ago and just wondered whether it actually has Dual Graphics as stated by the sticker....This laptop is is an A8-4500m with AMD Radeon HD 7640g, and 4GB RAM, upgraded to 8GB. I have seen other posts about this before by nothing can solve this issue, I tried every software to try and find out if there is another graphics card in there but there is definitely not....what does this green 'Dual Graphics' sticker mean? :/

    hi candywolf,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
This should show two Gaphics card under Device Manager,
Let me know if this is not the case under your Device Manager,

  • Ye olde G505s dual graphics question.

Hi, I have seen this topic a couple of times but for higher models than mine - 20255 AMD A8-4500M - as to why there is a dual graphics sticker on the laptop. The other machines do appear to have a discreet GPU linked with Crossfire that was difficult to find. After removing the back cover of my machine I am pretty sure the empty gap on the motherboard to the left of the fan is why myself or Crossfire is never going to find a second graphics processor. Just for peace of mind, so I can stop looking, do Lenovo just stick this sticker on all laptops regardless of capabilities or is the graphics card hidden somewhere really clever?
Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer.

If in the device manager you don't see any unknown device than you don't have a discreet graphics card installed.
If you do see an unrecognized device, than apply the solution from this post:

hy, I am new on this forum.
Ii have a g505s, a10, 1tb (8gb ssd?), 8gb ram, dual graphics model, but there is no sign of a second video card on my laptop. an that is because it does not have a dedicated graphics card. i have tried several pc info tools (cpu-z, gpu-z, aida 64 extreme). all this tools dont recognize a dedicated graphics, and now i'm wondering... why there is a sticker on my laptop that sais dual graphics? why are we being fooled by this fals advertising method ? why have a i paid 500 pounds for a laptop that is not what i was told that is? but the most important thing is... how can we correct this situation?

I have found out that if u change your power performance from maximum to optimum it will give u boost.
Better boost (or the i should say proper boost) in game or any application that need 3D graphic or Dual Graphic u can get by setting your game / program / application from maximum to optimum performance. ( u can find those settings in "swich graphics configuration" accesable by RMB on desktop or by Catalyst Center.

  • G505s-Dual Graphics Question

    Hello,
I recently purchased a Lenovo G505s laptop. It is the version with the AMD A8-5550M. It stated on the feature tag that it had dual graphics. When I asked about dual graphics at the store I was told that means it has an integrated graphics chip on CPU as well as a separate graphics card for heavier things like gaming.
My problem is that in Windows Device Manager and the Vision Control Center, etc, the only thing showing is a HD  8550G graphics adapter, which it seems is the integrated chip. For the life of me I can't seem to get another graphics adapter to show up. I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them with the latest on the Lenovo driver site, I've tried looking in BIOS for an option, but nothing seems to work.
Does dual graphics mean something totally different and I had an unknowledgeable salesman, or is it possible something may be borked with the other graphics card? Or is it simply a matter that I don't know what the heck I am doing or looking for and it's staring me right in the face?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If any other information is required, please let me know. Thank you!

  • Graphics performance less when dual graphics switched on G505s

I've noticed that the frame rates i am getting with single graphics switched on are much much better than dual graphics switched on. This follows for all games that require high graphics.

    Hi Guys,
Strangest thing happened. When i got my New Aluminum Macbook, i never user the adapter that came with it, i simply carried on using the adapter from my 4 month old black macbook, as i thought there would not be any difference. But since i have been using it, i was noticing that it was running extremely hot. Last night, my adapter was hot enough to fry an egg on, and it cut off current being sent to my macbook. So i got out the original adapter that came with this mac, and since i have started using it...EVERYTHING is smooth and the same when running battery power. Very strange, but somehow it seems to work! Hope this helps anyone with my issue, will see how the computer behaves over 24 hours, but so far, so good!

  • My g505s was advertised as dual graphics. Was it a lie?

In dxdiag the only graphic it's picking up is AMD radeon HD 7640G
Is there anything I can do to speed up the laptop and increase it's performance with games and such?
IT is the A8 4500m version

    hi Sarpynom,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you check if under Device Manager if under Display Adapter will show 2 Display adapters including the  AMD radeon HD 7640G
A dxdiag tool will only pick up One Graphics adapter, It will only pick up a graphics where your Windows is currently running at.
A Dual Graphics will work as Switching to the other graphics card when an Application needs more graphics rendering.
     Let me know your Findings
    Cheers!

  • Question re: AMD dual graphics driver support

    Hi, first time poster
I'm interested in the G505s with Radeon HD 8650G + HD 8570M dual graphics. However, from my research it seems that dual graphics is largely useless, at least with laptops currently. NotebookCheck .com says it brings benefit only if the games support it, and can even be detrimental.
Is this accurate? Another forum said that it was of use only if the laptop maker (i.e. Lenovo) updated drivers to support it. One poster said this happens very seldom. Again, is this accurate?
In a nutshell: is the Radeon HD 8650G + HD 8570M setup benefitless?
    Thanks in advance

Same problem here with HP Pavilion 15 n201axPrevious it showed 2 drivers in the Display Adapter sectionas - >>AMD Radeon HD 7620G+ AMD Radeon HD 8600Mand >>AMD Radeon HD 8600M I tried different versions of Catalyst but now it just shows AMD Radeon HD 7620G and after rebooting, it comes up with an asterisk markI Dont even even the options of Configuring the graphics card when i right click on desktop. It just shows the AMD Catalyst Control Center which brings up options only for the processor. This is seriously getting annoying!

  • Rradeon HD 7690 dual-graphics doesn't work in hp pavilion dv6z-6c00 cto quad edition laptop?

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion dv6z-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC from HP's online store. The laptop was customized with a  Radeon HD 7690M discrete graphics card. There is a "dual-graphics" feature that allows a program to be configured to use either the low-power integrated graphics (a Radeon HD 6520G) or the high-performance discrete graphics (the Radeon HD 7690M). However, even when I set a program to use "high performance graphics", the program refuses to use anything but the low-power integrated graphics. When I use ATI's driver, it calls the card a "6700 series", and the card still does not work; when using HP's driver, it calls it the proper name, but the ATI Catalyst Control Center does not work (necessary to assign programs to the discrete card). There is no setting in BIOS to set the computer to use either card exclusively: in fact, there are no graphics settings, period.
Some examples of the games I have tried are:
    - Minecraft (I know OpenGL does not work with Dynamic Graphics)
    - Portal 2 (Direct X, so should work in theory)
Will I have to get the "special" BIOS update (outdated) that adds the setting for graphics switching?

I suggest dowloading and installing the latest driver for the radeon HD graphics module from the web support portal for your notebook.
What is the p/n for your notebook? (you can remove the main battery and get it from there or from the HP Support Assistant)

  • Does HP Pavilion p7-1154 support AMD Dual Graphics?

I have a Pavilion p7-1154 - Serial no.{Removed for privacy} - The motherboard is an AAHD3-HB (stock MB) made by Pegatron. I have upgraded the stock RAM from 6 GB of 1333 to 16 GB of Corsair Vengence 1600 and upgraded the processor from an AMD A6 3600 to an AMD A8 3850, all according to the upgrade guide for this machine from HP. I've also upgraded the PSU from the stock 300w to a Corsair 500w 80Plus Bronze certified PSU.
Now that's what I'done so far - what I want to know is does the MB (AAHD3-HB) support AMD Dual Graphics, using the suggested graphics cards, I would like to use a Radeon 6670 GPU.

Mike, after consulting with other members, I believe that dual graphis is not available since it is not noted in the specs.
However, here is a Youtube video about the CPU.  If you do find that you were able to use it by a BIOS change, please share that information with the forum.  Thanks!

  • Photoshop CS6 have problems with my dual graphics card

I'm currently using photoshop cs6 on my laptop (hp pavilion dv4 3114 ), and this laptop has dual graphics cards(one is mobile intel hd graphics, the other one is ati hd 6750), it ususlly switches to the faster one when games are running or some software that requires a lot of graphic work. But this time I have already set in the graphics card profile to let photoshop use the faster one, but when I launch photoshop cs6 it tells me that the graphics card is not officially supported, as you can see this in the screenshot.
Then I turned to photoshop's preference(performence) and found it only identifies the mobile intel hd graphics. I'm currently using photoshop for designing large posters so performence is very important for me. Is anyone know how to solve this problem so that photoshop can run with the highest performence?

II can't imagine how these computer companies expect to fully integrate GPUs from two different vendors, but they're trying.  To me, knowing a bit about how display drivers are implemented, it seems an impossible task.
I hve heard (in the context of Macs that have this option) that disabling the low power options so that only the more powerful GPU is active can help.  I don't know if that can apply to your system, but it might give you an idea of a place to start looking.
Another thing might be to try to find whatever settings it offers for "affinity" and set it so Photoshop and its cousins use just the ATI GPU exclusively.  It might be the "switchover" process that is causing the problems.
    Good luck.

  • How to get dual graphics card to work together?

I have an L series satellite with dual graphics card that wont work together. Its an AMD Radeon 3400m apu with an HD 6520G integrated , and a 6400m discrete graphcs card.
The 6400m will never turn on, I have used amd system monitor to see if it is ever used, but it never is.
Even when the 6520g is at full load it wont turn on.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi
As far as I know this theme has been already discussed here in the forum and the switch between internal and external ATI GPU is not supported.
Just the Optimus technology designed by nVidia is supported
So you can switch between Intel GPU and nVidia (if both would support the Optimus technology)

  • Do all E545 laptop sub-models have dual-graphics?

Looking to purchase one soon, and will be used for occasional gaming.
I see the same sub-model listed on one site as having the HD 8570M along w/ the iGPU from the APU, but others do not. This is very confusing. To add to the confusion, the main product page for the E545 on lenovo's site shows it has it, but when you customize a unit, it doesn't.
If all E545s do NOT have dual-graphics, can I please have a list(US, CA, and international models) of all sub-model codes that do?
    Thank you

You won't see the 6459 in the current Jan 2009 version because Lenovo only keeps the latest models on that reference source.
However, I found my answer at the ThinkPad Forum here:
    http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=60786
It appears that there is indeed 256mb on the GPU in question and there are some typographical errors on the Product Info Pages.

    Hi ashwani26596,
Let's start by using the HP Support Assistant to check for any updates and drivers to see if that resolves the issue. If that doesn't work then go your Control Panel and then Programs and Features and uninstall the Catalyst Control Center. Then try installing both the Intel High-Definition Audio Driver and the AMD High-Definition Audio Driver.

  • Dual graphics card in M92 Tower?

    Hello,
I have a manager here requesting 3 monitors for each of their departments workstations (Lenovo M92 Tower, Intel i5) and I am just wonder if the M92 supports dual graphics cards. I am aware that it only has a PCIe 1x and PCIe 16x slot - the plan is to install two 1x cards, if they are supported.
Could someone confirm if this will work or not?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First, I have no experience at all with more than two monitors on any PC.
However... AMD's EyeFinity setup can support three (or more) monitors using the multiple connectors on a usable video card.  For example, the relatively inexpensive AMD R7 250 card comes in both full-size and low-profile varieties, to fit inside an M92p case (either mid-tower or SFF) in the PCIe x16 slot (which is what you want to use).  The low-profile R7 250 DDR5 card from Sapphire (which includes both low-profile and full-size brackets in the retail box, so you can use the card in either M92p case size) has three digital connectors on it: DVI, miniDP, and microHDMI.  So you can connect three monitors to them. The retail box also includes adapters for the microHDMI and miniDP connectors, but I'd personally just buy a proper 2-ended straight-through cable (say from Monoprice or other online source) with the correct connector at each end to connect each of your three monitors. I'm not a fan of adapters myself, I'd prefer a suitable cable with the correct connectors at each end.
According to the EyeFinity setup instructions, you use two connectors to go to two monitors, and the third (or more) monitors must connect on the DisplayPort path.  In your case you only have three monitors, so you just use all three digital connectors on the R7 250 and you're done!  No need to have two graphics cards, and you get high-performance DDR5 as you want, on three monitors.
Again... I've never done this myself, but EyeFinity for three or more monitors is standard technology given an AMD card like the R7 250 sitting in a single PCIe x16 slot.
