G505s slow CPU speed whilst charging.

This is terrible, by using CPUz i can see that, whilst the laptop is charging, the clock speed drops down to 900mhz and fluctautes between that and 1400mhz, this is shocking, i can hardly watch youtube videos or even post this thread, the lag and slowness is unbearable. When running on battery power the CPU speed shoots up to 2500mhz and stays there,it never seems to go to its turbo speed either. Please lenovo fix this problem as soon as you can, whilst charging, the laptop is unusabe, i cannot do anything on it.
FIX THIS PLEASE!

  • G505s random cpu throttling!

This is really frustrating, my cpu can't decide what frequency it should be at when I'm running fullscreen applications. It keeps jumping between 900, 1400, and 2500 mhz. No this isn't the charging issue and my bios is 2.05. The other issue I have is that I can't use turbo mode because when the cpu hits 75c, it downclocks to 2000mhz. I'm better off running at 2500mhz, but I can't even do that! This isn't an issue in windowed mode though so it must be some wonky software issue. I'm using windows 8, not 8.1, I've deleted most of the shovel ware and I haven't instaled anything I think would cause this. It didn't always do this. This problem started on day two. I know the laptop's fine, I really like it, but I just can't stand this crap. Anyway, please help me out of you know anything about this issue. Even if you don't know, just tell me how your g505s runs and how hot it gets so I can know if there's something actually wrong with mine.
Okay I guess it's happening in windows too. It's different for every game. It'll stay at 2.5ghz just fine in a stress test, but a game that hardly uses 50% of the cpu? It just freaks out.
I think there is also a heat issue here. Even after downclocking to 2000mhz, the cpu still hits 74c in bf4, which by the way is being bottlenecked very hard by the slow cpu. Minimum settings 20-30fps. This is very frustrating. I'm about to give up for a bit and blow off some steam playing bf4 on my desktop, high settings 1080p at 60 fps.

    Hi Ryan82994,
      Welcome to the forums,
Well you should not worry about the throttling btw just to make things clear what CPU do you have under your G505s hood ?
and yea you should not worry about the throttling, I got an i5 which powers my G770 and it keeps jumping from 798-2.30Ghz
I believe in full screen applications your CPU frequency increases depending on the system load you can google up intel speed step technology below is an example of my G770's CPu frequencies
    hope this helps
    regards
Lets make 2015 the year of the #DO

    Hi,
I have had bt broadband opt3 for almost 3 months now and have always had a healthy 9mb+ connection, however have noticed it being very slow in the evening when I come home from work, I checked the speed last nite as iplayer was constantly freezing and was getting 1mb . A bit upset by this as I got bt broadband to play my ps3 online and to get faster speeds on my laptop, and I use these services mostly at nite.
I checked my speed this morning and was getting 11mb, is this normal or am I being capped I cant believe Id be going over my download limit. Can someone from bt get back to me on this?
    Thanks
    John

Yes Alison, I think I can see that now. I wouldnt mind if broadband was a bit slower at peak times, I know thats normal, but when I'm only getting 1mb when my max is 14mb, I just dont feel I'm getting what I pay for. And when it gets to the point where I cant watch iplayer without it stuttering everywhere and online games lagging on the ps3, this is certainly not what I'm paying for.
I was hoping one of the mods here would help me and check my line and see if there is any cap on the line and get it removed.
I really dont wanna phone India, I deal with them 5 days a week as is...
Think I will just send one of the mods an email to check my line and see if it is being capped or if somethings wrong.

You will never get decent speeds on Iplayer,
BT limit it because they want you to subscribe to their precious BT Vision service.
The only way you are guaranteed to get decent speeds on BT is to subscibe to BT Vision and also unlimited broadband.
Then you will get priority when you stream TV at your exchange unlike fighting it out with all the other broadband users as you currently are for the available bandwith.the more over subscribed your local exchange the worse it is

    Hi John,
I can take a look at the network side of things for you, to see if there is anything I can do to help improve your speed during peak periods. Please could you drop me an email with your BT account details? Please also include a link to this thread. It would also be very helpful if you could run a few speed tests using www.speedtester.bt.com when you feel your Broadband is running slow. I can then check those results from here.
    Thanks

Well John i'll tell you what it is...
First of all welcome to BT and I hope you'll enjoy 18months of pain and suffer.
    OK here it goes....
If you look at your contract, find a rule that says Fair Usage Policy.
Basically it states that BT will cap anyone that is abusing their lines.
However, it does not say what are the limits after which you are going to be capped for how long and at what times. (I'll come back to this later and explain)
If you ring 08007076044 I'm sure that someone will confirm my theory. As constant 1MBit between 6PM till 11/12 PM is actually FUP applied on to your account.
Ok time to explain my frustration about FUP.
Since I signed my contract with "lovely" BT for constant 4 months I had similar issue but it took me even longer to find out what is going on and how to deal with this problem (thanks to google).
FUP team states that if you exceed 100GB in a month (everyone will admit that these days 100GB is nothing when a single game for PS3/XBox360/PC sometimes is more than 5GB and 1080p film is about 12GB) will cap you for a month at peak times to outstanding and superfast 1Mbit (about 130-150KB/s).
I'be been watching my download and for few months never exceeded that 100GB in a month. Been ringing FUP team to verify when suddenly they told me that from (cant remember exactly) March FUP will apply only to accounts that are using Torrents and other P2P.
you won't believe how happy I was hearing that.... So i've started to download and next month guess what.... 1Mbit connection.
Really mad rang FUP team and asked them what on earth is going on. They confirmed that its only P2P and I've explained them that I only use Youtube, BBC iPlayer, Rapidshare, Steam and XBox Live, Beatport (just don't understand how ppl can use torrents and other P2P as they are just way to slow). So they were happy to take the cap off my broadband connection.
Next month same issue solved exactly the same way.
After that for consecutive few months I had no problem whatsoever until September where FUP Team said that there is no such thing and FUP applies to everyone.
So just want to say that BT is rubbish that can't keep their word.
I went to one of the sales advisor in the shopping centre and asked him how FUP works as it does not say in the contract "how, when, who and what".
So he said that policy is applied based on amount of files downloaded within that 100GB. So if I download e.g. 3x 50GB (although its 150GB altogether) files I wont be affected but 100x 1GB will put a cap on me.
I've been so curious if what he said was right and started to download 2x 60GB and guess what... Got frigging FUP placed on my account!!!.
    I've got 2months left with them and will be extremely happy to cancel my contract, moreover, I will do everything in my power to sue them under EU Consumer Rights Law (that states that contract should be clear and fair to both sides) as Fair Usage Policy is one of those things that allows BT to do anything they want to their customers;
    1. No clear explanation of what FUP is.
    2. Does not states the amount of downloaded data required to have cap on the acount
    3. Does not states for how long it will be applied
    4. Does not states when it will be applied
If you look at e.g. Virgin Broadband everything is clearly written in nice and understandable way. It warns you at what times FUP will be applied under what circumstances and for how long. Isn't it what we all want to know??

@Mateusz I think I maybe a victim of this outragous stint BT have done. I have 2 XBOX 360's running on XBOX Live, 2 Desktop PCs connected to the web constantly, and 3 laptops, we have a torrent sharing running and World Of Warcraft on one of the PCs. All of this is shared across a 6 person family. How can a family where two members goto to college and university do their college ork, download application such as VB.net do their coursework and revise without the hassle of a **** connection. Seriously BT get your ******* head outta your **** and stop this ********, we are customers, we pay for what we are offered. When I signed up several years ago I could download everything on the net woithout infracions on my line being set in motion. You altered my contract without telling me. You will lose custom from this. Also you have ****** my wireless

You lot are lucky, We wish we could be capped to 1mbit. Our IP profile is capped to 500kbit because BT say the line isn't good enough for anything more. We are paying for option3 up to 8mbit and BT have said we must continue to pay for it for the remainder of the contract, or buy ourselves out of it early, the reason they give.... Up to 8mbit means up to 8mbit. If you dont get 8mbit then TOUGH LUCK SUCKERS!!
The outcome? We feel like we've been turned over by a dodgey second hand car salesman called BT. The internet deal he flogged us was a dog, a ringer, it wasn't cosher and certainly had a false MOT certificate.

    Hi Amanda,
Why have you joined BT Option 3 when you can not get what BT can offer?
No pun intended but you are a bit of a sucker for paying high prices where other suppliers are cheaper and can provide what your line can support.

we moved house last october to this one, the connection was rubbish from the get-go, BT said the router was broken and we needed a new one, we said OK. That "OK" meant that we had entered into a new contract for option 3 same as out old one. The router wasn't broken, the new one didnt fix or improve the problem, we have since asked for a price reduction or compensation and been told "no". we are in contract and can pay to buy ourselves out of it if we like but otherwise we have to pay for option 3 and recieve fixed rate 500kb.

    Hi Amanda,
I think you'll find that the Hold To Term rules have changed. BT are now unable to charge you for the account if you no longer require it. It is against OFCOM's rulings for a company to make more money out of you as a leaving customer than an existing one. However, You will need to pay for the connection charge (if that has not expired it's original differed contract) which is £40. A cancellation fee of £25 if you are simply cancelling and not migrating using a MAC key and for any hardware. The Routers are advertised at £88 and i would suggest that if they believed on to be faulty then that would be replaced under guarantee and not be put on a differed basis. I would check exactly what they say the are charging you and query this through OFCOM. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/

Months of impecable service form BT as an option 3 customer. (I've even recommended BT to people)
    but
For the past 2 weeks peak traffic has murdered my connection.
I can get 14mbit off peak, and it used to drop to about 7-9 at peak times.
Now its down to 1-2mbit at peak times. (no i haven't breached FUP as I check my btinternet inbox for the 80GB warning)
I think its resonable to experience drop off but 90%!!!
BT advertising says fast speeds at peak times. less than 2mbit is not fast. (that the governments minimum standard!!!)
I don't know how to procede because when I'm experiencing these issues if I ring up I will end up waiting so long to speak to someone (because its peak time) the concection wiill be better again.
I can think of no recourse other than to approach trading standards...
Guarnetee me 5mbit at peak times (enough to stream HD iplayer) and I'd be happy
That is what BT vision customers are in essence are getting + what ever their PC is using.
Fair usage? what about Fair Supply.

  • Mac Pro slow write speed on Samsung SSD drive

    Hi,
I am wondering why I get very slow write speeds on my Samsung SSD 840 Series 250 GB system startup drive in my Mac Pro (early 2008).
I get an average write speed of approx. 35 MB/s and not much more for top speed. I tested it by transfering a large file (8GB, .m4v) from my Mac Pro internal Raid 0 (4x 2TB Stripe Set) delivering up to 550 MB/s. The read speed of the SSD is around 270 MB/s which I consider to be OK for that I have just the 3 Gb/s internal SATA interfaces in my pretty outdated Mac Pro.
I don't see any Memory or CPU overruns or consuming system tasks while doing the tests and no other user programs except Activity Monitor is running. The following screen shots from the Activity Monitor should proove my findings:
    Setup:
Samsung SSD 840 Series 250 GB (SATA 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s compatible) system startup drive. Free Space left on SSD is around 100GB of 250GB.
    Mac Pro (early 2008, Model 3,1), 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 8 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB.
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
Samsung sais there should be 540 MB/s for Seq. Read and 250 MB/s for Seq. Write for their SSD drive.
Any hints what could be done to increase especially that low write speed of around 35 MB/s (average) on the SSD in my Mac Pro?

    Really great 'The hatter' !!!
Thanks a lot for your exceptional support.
Next to my 4x discs in the 4 SATA II drive bays I have installed a additional OWC drive kit that allows me to have another 2 disks sitting in the empty bay below the CD/DVD drive and those are connected to the motherboard. So there is a lot to handle for that controller you mentionned ;-)
I will follow your guidance and boot from my 'maintenance' system on direct attached external drive, install the TRIM Enabler there as well and do the DU repair run. I always have a separate system available that gives me the chance to boot my Mac from there. And in addition I regularly use ONYX to keep my OS X clean and do the maintenance.
Anyway, you're the man of the day!
PS; I am looking forward to finally receive my new Mac Pro (late 2013) ordered on the 18th of December one of these days and then I hope that I can fly ;-)

  • Program taking up all of CPU Speed

    Hello,
I have been lucky not to have to use the forum, until now. I recently installed a program called Garage Sale. I decided not to use it and deleted it (drug it over to trash from the finder window). Well,(now at least a week later) I turned on my computer this morning and it was running really really slow. I was finally able to get into the activity monitor and was able to find the problem. A piece of Garage Sale was still running (Garagesalehelper) and it was taking up to 65 - 80% of my CPU Speed. How to do I get rid of this thing? Thanks for any and all help.
    Imac G5 Isight 512MB 180GB HD 10.4.9   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, JoeCat24
To stop the offending process immediately, you can highlight "Garagesalehelper" in the main Activity Monitor window and then click the red "Stop Process" button. However, this fix is only effective until you restart your Mac or the application.
To get permanent relief, you must properly uninstall Garage Sale.. I do not use Garage Sale, so I cannot give you specific, step-by-step instructions. You will need to find the proper uninstall instructions. Some applications come with an uninstaller. Others list all the files that must be removed along with their locations
If you still have the Garage Sale installer or Readme files, check there to see how to properly uninstall. If you do not have this information, you may need to download the installer again to see if uninstall instructions are available there. Sometimes it is simpler to reinstall the application and then use the Help files to find out how to properly uninstall.
If none of those things work, I suggest that you contact the software developer and ask him for instructions on how to uninstall his app.
If this GarageSale is the app causing your problems, the developer offers email support via his "Contact & Support" link.

  • Extreme slow upload speed in Dallas area

    Hello
Something happened to my upload speed last Thursday, it has dropped considerably connecting to most servers making many sites very sluggish. I have the hardest time just attaching a file in Gmail and the gmail chat keeps saying 'unable to connect'. Using FTP for my work is almost impossible. It's takes me 5-10 tries to upload a file that's not even 50KB.
I've called Verizon tech support and went through different diagnostics and then they sent a new router, which still didn't help. Here's what I concluded so far:
    It's not the router
It's not the computer since it happens on every machine
It's not the wiring since I can get good speed test connecting to some servers.
It's not the servers that i'm connecting to; everything works when i'm at work or on the phone.
I have 15/5, I've attached some speed test results.
Verizon's own speed test page even timed our during upload, which was stuck under 0.5 when it was about to finish.
Anyone else experiencing this? Verizon say my issue is currently with the engineers, but I have no idea how long that wait to be.
    Thank you

Is there any Verizon representative that can escalate my issue?
Basically a tech came last Saturday and wasn't able to figure out what was wrong and left and closed my ticket. Whenever I call back now they're just telling me it's my computer, which is completely FALSE. All my 5-6 computer just doesn't happen to have slow upload speed of the sudden and require modification to RWin buffer as the suggested by the on-site tech. Verizon phone support bluntly told me they can't do anything further and would charge me for coming out again to replicate my issue.
Things the tech have already tried:
-Run Fios Optimizer multiple times on multiple computers.
    -Replaced router
    -Replaced ONT
    -Rebooted PON card
Upload speed still sporadic, works perfect on some speedtests, but it's less than 0.5MB on many servers including Verizon's very own local speedtest. Gmail and any google site request is constantly slow. This site is slow and often times out. FTP to my own site is almost impossible if I want to upload a file that's bigger than 100kb.
I'm extremely frustrated.... There are reports of same exact issues in other thread, one seems to be fixed. Is there any way Verizon can look at that and apply it here?

  • How to boost nokia e63 cpu speed

hello, please i am wondering if it is possible to boost the cpu speed of nokia e63, become its usually slow when performing various task like 1. When installing an application 2. When opening some big third party applications like opera mini, whats app, and some games 3. When removing an application, these are the areas where i,ve noticed nokia e63 being slow
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try closing apps which is running in the background. Clear browser cache and uninstall 3rd party applications which you don't use. Turn off theme effects. All this could affect the "speed" on your phone in a positive way.

  • Slow Broadband Speed

    Hello Whom May Consent
I have just found out that I am not the only one have problem with BT broadband speed. Many people seem to have problem with their slow Internet speed due to the exchange problem. That’s good, because after 10 calls to BT, I still don’t know what the problem with my broadband. So let me tell you what the problem is.
My Internet speed suddenly got very slow (0.4mb) since the morning of 05/11/2010. I thought this was just temporary problem with the Internet speed and nothing should be worry about. The next day, I still face the same Internet speed (0.4mb) which is ridiculous when you pay 25 pound per month. Therefore I took action and made a call to BT customer service. I am sure I dial the right number to an “ENGLISH” company and somehow the line goes to INDIA. Strange~~~
The guy on the phone question me 10mins to check my identity and ask me lots of stupid question like have you try to connect your computer with wire instead of wireless or have you try to change the filter for my Internet connection etc. In the end, the India guys on the phone told me after 24hours my connection should back on the normal speed (5mb). Guess what, it didn't’t.
Clearly I was very angry and made a call back to “India” again to find out that was the problem with my Internet. This time the India guy on the phone seems to know the problem and very helpful. He told me that there was engineering work by my area on the “BT Infinity” which slows my broadband down and this work should be done by Friday 12/11/2010. The India guy even made a promise that he will call me back on Saturday morning 13/11/2010 to check the Internet speed.
Guess what, the India guy let me down. Not just he breaks his promise that he didn't’t call, my Internet speed is still 0.4mb. I was so frustrated at this point and made the call to BT for the third time. I went through the same procedure (10mins of ID check) and this time India guy told me there is a problem with my local exchanger and will get the engineer to fix it. Again, he promised me that he will solve the problem within 24hours.
Sadly the problem is still unsolved. I called BT again. The India woman on the phone told me this time she need to send an engineer to my house on Tuesday on 16/10/2010. At this point I was so angry that I said something very bad to the India woman (I am sorry) but still agree to wait for the engineer to come to my house all morning (missed all lectures).
Long story short, engineer comes and nothing has changed and today 20/11/2010, the engineer comes again to try and solve the problem with my Internet speed. What all his done is change my telephone filter and nothing has changed. Internet speed is still is still 0.4mb. • Whilst Charging, Iphone is almost unresponsive

Not sure if anybody else has issues with this, but since the IOS4 update, whenever my phone is on charge the phone becomes really slow and jumpy. Cant even type or browse apps as it slows down to much and then tries to catch up and does a billion things at once. And the most annoying thing is that the bottom part of the screen is almost completely unresponsive, only the top half of the screen wants to work whilst charging, and this aint all that brilliant. Anybody else experiencing this issue????????

If you plug it into the computer, is it recognized by iTunes?
If it is, try doing a restore.
If it is not recoginized by the computer or iTunes, it sounds
like you may have an ex-iPhone.  Time to contact Apple support
or get an appointment at a Genius Bar at an Apple Store.

  • How to solve slow processor speed

How do you troubleshoot extremely slow processing speed on an Intel based iMac? I have already emptied cache memory, force quit or closed all programs and rebooted. This did not solve the problem.

Open Activity Monitor (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and see if there are any processes that are using unususal amounts of %CPU. If they are quit that process.
BTW please fill out your profile so we know what iMac you have and what version of OS X you are running.

  • Minimum cpu speed for 10g on RHAS3

Is there any way past the universal installer check for minimum cpu speed? I have met all the system requirements to install oracle forms client on redhat as -- but this is an older test box and it is slightly slower than the minimum requirements so I was not able to run the installer. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
You can find all the useful informations about Update Rate of a FieldPoint Ethernet Network Controller at this link:

Regarding the minimum possible speed network to comunicate  to FP, it's depends on timeout parameter you set in the target: obviously a low-speed network could  generate some comunication  problems.

  • Lenovo X240, only 1,6GHz CPU speed

Hello, I have a Lenovo X240 that should have 2,29GHz cpu speed. If I look in Computer properties and System I can see this info: Intel Core i5-4200 CPU @ 1,60GHz 2.29GHz. CPU-Z only shows 1596MHz at Core speed. Any ideas?

Where can I see how much CPU that is used when I run video playback?
I tried cpu-z but that is only showing 1,6GHz.
I use System Explorer. After installing it just place your mouse cursor over the SE icon in the system tray. That will bring up a status window that shows, among other things, the CPU speed.
Incidentally what size AC charger are you using? Some ThinkPads will not run at full speed unless they're powered from AC using a 90W charger.

I would really appreciate any advice you have to offer! (P.s Connection time is so low because I recently connected the router to the test socket to see if there was a problem with my internal wiring)
I've been experiencing a slow connection speed (even though the router is connected to the master socket) much slower than with my previous provider and a very intermittent service. The broadband connection seems to drop out every time the landline is in use and when using the landline you can hear a lot of static/crackling in the background.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried another known working telephone into that test socket without an ADSL fiter.
If you have done all that you will need to report to your comms provider, if its BT Retail you will need to call them on 0800 800 151 or 0330 123 4151 from a mobile phone.
They will mention about charges but as long as you have done as suggested and you have not damaged any of the incoming wiring there "should" be no charge. when you phone do NOT mention broadband once any noise on your line is solved then your broadband will improve
