G530-4446 - Win7 - Scroll on touchpad no longer works

Hey, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate on my G530-4446. My touchpad works, but the scrolling doesn't. When I go to Control Panel > Mouse - I notice that the settings are no longer there to control the scrolling. I remember there was a driver I downloaded previously that corrected this issue, but cannot find it anywhere (I've been searching for 2 solid days now). If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

hi mcal,
May I ask about other feature did that driver put back some other feature no your touchpad?
I would suggest doing a clean install of that driver.
try to look first under control panel Programs and features look for a synaptics software the un-install it.
After that do a restart and reinstall the Driver again.
also try to access the Setting under mouse properties
and check if the scrolling are enabled.
link to sample photo
that photo may not be exactly the same but that should give you a hint on where to check.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!!

  • HP Pavilion dm3-1035dx entertainment notebook/PC's touchpad no longer works?

    Hello.
I have a HP Pavilion dm3-1035dx entertainment notebook/PC that hasn't been used for over an year or so. I finally used it again today, but its touchpad no longer works. I researched on the web and found out that others have this problem, but with its sleep mode. Obviously, mine was one was off and not asleep. I also read there is a BIOS update to fix it. I tried that and it didn't fix the problem.
The button between the space bar and touchpad always show white color. Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything (color doesn't change and no changes). I also noticed the preinstalled 64-bit W7 HPE's Device Manager does not seem to show this touchpad. I also tried a Windows 7 PE boot CD and its mouse didn't work either. Both installed OS and the boot CD used to work with its touchpad.
Is this touchpad dead? Is there anything else to check?
    Thank you in advance.

I guess battery might have gone bad and needs to be replaced. Download and Install HP Support Assistant from here and follow instructions from below link to run a test on your battery

  • Windows 10 Upgrade, Touchpad no longer works on laptop

I upgraded my HP Mini 110 from Windows 7 Starter to Winows 10.  It runs fairly smooth but my BIGGEST complaint is that my touchpad no longer responds to taps and scrolling. I used it for just about everything and now I have to use the Left or Right buttons to navigate.  FRUSTRATING!!Are there any updates, drivers, patches or Mr FixIt for this? Thanks! -Armando

How did you manage to upgrade to Win 10?  I am told graphics will not support it.  When I try and update graphics driver I get a failure saying a sub key is not found!  Did you have problems with graphics compatability? Regards

  • Synaptics Touchpad No Longer Working Properly

    Hello Internet!
Hear my plight and tremble:  I just recently updated my Synaptics touchpad drivers from the official manufacturer's website.  Prior to the update, I could double tap the top left of the touchpad to enable and disable the touchpad.  This was a convenient feature that I have grown quite fond of.  However, after the update this feature no longer works!  I am so devastated...  I really enjoyed watching the pretty light outline of my touchpad turn to an evil red when it was disabled.  I suppose that I could revert the drivers back to their old form, but I wanted to check if anybody knew a separate fix so that I could have both the new drivers and the old functions that I so cherished.
    My model number is: A6Y49UA#ABA
    My operating system: Windows 7

    Hi @El-Nacho ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers.
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide Learn How to Post and More
I see that you upgraded your driver from the manufacturer's site.  HP only  recommends the drivers listed on the HP driver page.  These drivers have all been tested and known to function correctly. When you install drivers from manuacturer's site, they may or may not function correctly with your notebook.  OEM can and do sometimes alter a driver so that it functions correctly with your exact notebook.

If you did not have an issue with the old driver, I suggest you do a driver roll back.
Version 15.3.11.0 is the recommended version for your notebook and Windows 7.

  • Href with scroll(0,0) no longer works!

Until the update to V36.01, I used scroll(0,0) in an href as a link to the top of the page - which worked fine. It no longer works for me. Any ideas?

    Do you mean like this:
    <a href="javascript:scroll(0,0)">To Top</a>
It seems this should still be supported, per MDN: https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/Window/scroll
Does it make any difference if you use:
    <a href="javascript:window.scroll(0,0)">To Top</a>
or to separate your event handler from the HTML:
    <a href="#" onclick="window.scroll(0,0); return false;">To Top</a>

  • After updating the iOS from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3 the WLAN connection to a Win7 Hotspot (Connectify) is no longer working in the sence that UPnP Apps like PlugPlayer can connect to a Media Server (Twonky) on the Win7 PC in a stable way. What to do?

I created a backup of the iPod in iTunes before updating to iOS 4.33 but after the update I can not restore. The backup is no longer shown in iTunes. I think iOS 4.3.3 has some differences in handling WLAN due to the Hot Spot capability for the iPone 4 which might cause these problems.
Please help. The only use of my iPod touch is to remote control my media network. And exactly that is no longer working the way it was before the update!
    Best Regards,
    Gerd

Now this has two direct effects - firstly it has increased the 3g usage for data and secondly it causes 'blips' with the ability to connect to previously working wifi connections.

Although I have seen posts about the problem WPA2 key length problem, I am using an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1 and have no problems connecting to my WiFi that uses WPA2 AES with a key that is over 20 characters.

There is also one other school of thought that we have which is to do with the increased battery performance on the iPhones. It looks as though the iPhone drops WiFi when it goes to sleep (ie: when it is turned off in normal mode).
An iPhone will maintain a WiFi connection when in sleep mode if it is connected to a power source.
I have no doubt that many users are experiencing problems with their iPhones. I just feel lucky that I haven't experienced any big issues with mine.

  • GT70 keyboard and touchpad no longer working [Windows 7]

I've had this machine for nearly a year without any problems, but yesterday my keyboard stopped working. No keys at all are registered in Windows when I type. The keyboard seems physically ok, however, since I am able to get into the BIOS setup menu and boot menu, etc. Just once Windows launches it stops working.
    Symptoms:
    - Keyboard will not work in Windows.
    - I've noticed that the touchpad does not work either.
    - I can enable/disable touchpad from S-Bar, and the physical enable/disable touchpad button's light will change, but the touchpad does not work.
    - An external mouse works correctly.
    - An external keyboard works correctly.
    - My machine boots up with Wi-Fi turned off now (that never happened before). I am able to turn it on via S-Bar.
    What I've tried:
    - Shutting down, removing battery and power cord, and waiting an hour (to reset EC controller? (read that somewhere) )
    - Uninstalling the "PS/2 Keyboard" entry from Device Manager.
    - Rebooting many times.
    - Booting into Safe Mode (keyboard does not work even in Safe Mode)

I haven't installed anything recently, but I did just discover that the keyboard (but not the touchpad) will work after waking the machine from sleep. I usually put the machine to sleep when I'm through with it instead of restarting it, so it could have been something I installed a while ago.
I have done multiple virus scans, both with Norton and Malwarebytes, so I don't think it's malware.
I just can't figure out what kind of software could make something as basic as a keyboard stop working.

Auto Scroll is checked in the advanced settings/options, but still not working. Arrow keys do work to scroll, but I do not use those....So far I'm not impressed with the updated firefox! Not liking the way it's set up!!

  • Touchpad no longer working on hp pavillion dv6 after disassemble

So, I went ahead and spilled a little bit of coffee on my laptop.  Not much, but as an extra bit of precaution, probably a bit too much, I disassembled it and let it dry.  Everything works perfectly now except for the trackpad.  The LED border is lit up, but the cursor stays frozen on the screen.  I'm able to connect a usb mouse and operate the machine just fine and dandy ... but I'm curious if I'm missing something.  Is there another cable I'm missing?  Or is there just the one?  Could it be that the cable is just not secure?
Any ideas or insights would be appreciated.

Yes it is very easy to fail to get the ribbon cable fully inserted or even insert it into the zif connector incorrectly. I hate to admit but often have to open a laptop again after assembly to reconnect the touchpad.

  • Scroll wheel zoom no longer works with Lasso in CS5

I've been scouring the forums and found that this issue was raised almost a year ago, but it seems it still hasn't been dealt with. How can this be? Why would an "upgrade" remove funcionality that existed in previous versions of the software? Have since upgraded to CS5.5 and still no solution. Has anyone found a way to restore this functionality?

Seriously, no one has anything on this? I know I'm not the only person who misses this. How is it there is still no solution here? Was the functionality actively removed because people complained that it worked too well? Is the plan to re introduce it in CS6, and call it new? I went from CS3 to CS5.5 and the only difference i've noticed is this step backwards. Oh and the rediculously useless default tab setting. Maybe I'll just re-install CS3? Is that my only option?

  • CP60-615DX Touchpad and external mouse no longer work after WIndows 7 SP1 update

Let me start by saying I am in the IT field, though clearly far from being great at it. I was updating a CP60-615DX at work with Win 7 x64 SP1. It installed with no errors or anything I'd consider abnormal. Once it was finished, the touchpad no long worked, as well as any mouse I'd hook up via Usb. So I checked Device manager, and the Touchpad is listed with the yellow exclamation mark, as well as mice I hook up. So I did what any respectable IT guy would do, I went to HP and downloaded x64 drivers for the Touchpad port and installed them. But they didn't fix the issue, literally nothing happened. So I installed the latest chipset drivers. Still nothing changed. So I uninstalled the device and manually added it by doing the advanced driver install for a new device, pointing it to the directory where the .exe file had placed the drivers. ...Nothing. So I uninstalled SP1,.... nothing. After uninstalling SP1, redid every aforementioned step, nothing. So my question is, **bleep**? Anyone know another way to fix an issue where the scrolling devices stop working and the drivers won't fix the issue?
Btw, the user had never set up windows restore, and my only other thought is pulling personal documents off and restoring to factory defaults. One more bit of info before I forget, when I went into Windows Recovery (which loads a pre-environment mini OS for you to restore and fix issues), the mouse worked, telling me it's not a hardware issue, it's a Windows vs devices issue.

    Hi,
According to your description, since system reinstallation is not helpful, it's probably a hardware problem, it would be better to check if it is the device itself problem.

  • Touchpad no longer scrolls up and down on Satellite A

So my HD crashed and i have to completely install Windows and all the Toshiba stuff with it a new.
All is well - except for one thing, my touchpad no longer scrolls up and down using the side of it in IE or Chrome, but it still works in SeaMonkey.
My Computer technician tells me it's an issue with getting some new driver for the touchpad, and i think i had to do that already about a year ago when i still had my original HD running.
So i went to the Toshiba.ch website and tried to find something.
I found all their "verfication" stuff and got inside the system and it instantly returned about 45 drivers by the looks of my "un"-driving eyeys they all could have been for whatever, so i searched especially for "touch pad" and yes, there was one for my Synapsis touchpad and XP as well, so i downloaded it - or i should say i opened it in Win Zip and checked first on the "readme file - wow, that was some Portugese in there, and that's when i kind of begun to feel lost.
I check in at Toshiba.ch, get a ton of drivers in my face i have no clue whether i am supposed to download them all or what, and when i finally pick what i think i need the whole thing seems to be in Portugese, what the crickey in the afternoon is this???
Anyway, before i download and try to install stuff i have no clue about i was hoping someone would actually give me a better hint on what i have to do exactly to get my touchpad to scroll up and down again also in Chrome, IE and where ever else.
I use Service Pack 3 on Win XP Pro and was told that's maybe why the old original driver for this laptop needs to be updated, but which file, where to get it, and how to properly install it please anyone???

Thanks for that, you confirm what i actually found out myself in the meantime.
The way i got this issue solved was that i first tried to download and install the Synaptics driver from the Toshiba site - that simply failed miserably, glad with no negative side effects at least.
Nesxt i used what unfortunately is way easier that sites like the Toshiba overload, i used Google to simply find the Synaptics website and instantly got the link to their driver download - eh voila, that actually gave me a .exe file, not an endless array of zipped files like the stuff on the Toshiba site in endless language versions!!!
This worked, tested everything out alread since a while.
    - Which now leaves me with the question about the second driver you mentioned,
    Alps Electric
what is that one needed for??
I have not seen this name on my lappy before, so totally unsure about whether it still needs this dispite things are working everywhere, i did not even have to go into the Device Settings of the Mouse / touchpad to change or rearrange anything in there after the direct download from Synapsis, but well informed is always best, so if you could let me know about that
    Alps thing would appreciate...

  • G530 (4446-22G) unknown devices after Win7 installation

    Hi,
I recently installed windows 7 ultimate 64-bit on my father's Lenovo G530 (4446-22G) laptop. In device manager I see 2 "base system devices" in yellow that are not recognized. Does anyone have any idea what those devices might be? I attach screenshot of the device manager both by type and connection.
Also, I installed the Energy Management for win7 64-bit but the Fn keys do not work. Any suggestions about this?

  • Two finger scroll no longer working in windows 7 HP Pavillian 15t- n200

Hello!  My two finger scroll on the touchpad is no longer working!  I have run the BIOS again and disconnected battery with power off for 60 sec but still not working. Please help!  Thank you so much

    Hi eg1978
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having issues with your two finger scrolling. I have a couple of things for you to try. This HP document Using and Configuring the TouchPad has a section on Turning individual gestures off and on and make sure that the two finger scrolling is enabled. If that does work then reinstall your Synaptics TouchPad Driver.
