G530 Windows 7 Software/Drivers...When?

I don't see ANY Windows 7 Specific drivers or software updates from Lenovo.  Does anyone, forum members or Lenovo moderators know whne Lenovo is going to update their Software (Veriface, Lenovo Care, Easy capture etc) for Windows 7?
I have a G530
Thanks
Moderator Note; System added to subject

Well, I've been reluctant to comment.  The disks came last week, and were not of course including anything recent - I believe all the software was from July at latest.
I did successfully make a clean install of Windows 7, and it is simply wonderful. I kind of enjoyed Vista for a month or two, with the final service packs, but its rough edges had been really beginning to show, and I understand now why there was such widespread displeasure on that one.
Windows 7, though, is just stunningly, quietly good -- as we know things could have been for about the tlast 20 years, and benefiting from much of what's been learned in that 20 years.
The G530 continues to remind me how deep and wonderful the art of the Chinese designers who have been providing all our laptops for those many years. It is really expressed here, in a machine pretty clearly for the Brazils of the world, to give wonderful capability, and great physical strength as well as a very professional look, for a very sensible price.
Now, getting Windows 7 onto the G530.  I shake my head, and this is why I held back. But let's make it short and sweet.
- It's not going to work without that Bios which also causes a 1-minute wait with black screen each time you boot up. You lose control of screen brightness and other things if you use any other bios, including the 1.09 on the main support site, as documented elsewhere.
The bios that works is on the page recommended above, Consumer Support Site, coyly numbered '52'. Clearly there is much room for embarrassment, as the actual version number of that BIOS is 1.15 (!), and it was released in May (!!).  Everything seems to work fine with that BIOS, except for the little minor problem of the 1-minute start wait. Yes, it has been brought up on the 3000 series forum, and then gone into a black hole. How this could be missed, not known, and not recommended about since May is a comment. Let's not say on whom.
- Now, if you want to proceed, the drivers on this Consumer Support Site of Lenevos are also the ones you want - all the drivers labelled System 7, and according to the 32 or 64-bit flavor of Windows you're going to run. Some drivers are for both flavors.
- I did install all the drivers, with some trepidation after the mess some of the Lenovo services made on Vista. However, using the drivers alone keeps Windows 7 functionality intact. Most concerning to me was the wireless networking, which is just superb on Win7 -- silent, accurate, fast.  You go someplace where you have an access point logged into before, and you are instantly on the air. The other problems in Lenovo Vista software included the audio driver, which insisted on switching arbitrarily between two different software abilities being in charge, so that your volume and or silencing was never dependable. As well, the _display_ couldn't keep track of itself either, so that you got alternate proper and oversize screen views until the machine had fully booted.
None of these problems appear with Windows 7 as long as you stick to the driver downloads. I also loaded the EasyCapture from the last selections on theConsumer Support page, as though it warns, it works fine for what it does. I had tried ReadyComm on a trial dual boot of Win7 before, and strictly avoided that, to avoid the wireless networking problems resurfacing. You're on your own as far as the Lenovo OneKey, Lenovo System Repair, and Veriface. I find Windows 7 to have excellent tools for recovery, and the rest is covered by real backups. Beyond this I can see people are beginning to ask questions, and I will leave Lenovo to answer them.
- some of those questions are probably going to be about partitioning. Lenovo has used up the primary partitions on the disk, so that unless you do an upgrade installation of Windows7, you're going to end up with it on an extended partition.   Again, Lenovo will have to answer for this, and whether the upgrade turns out to be a good idea. It is supposed to be more reliable coming from Vista, and no doubt it is.
Those who wish to do differently had better know what they are doing, so will not comment on that here. I will say that the vaunted PartEdMagic is both a possible aid, and very possibly a real troublemaker in the vicinity of Windows 7. I had some terrible problems and recovered from them. I'd gone down that route, for those who understand, because I wanted a clean Win7 install, on the beginning of the disk, and I also wanted to save a large partition which had non-backed-up gigabyte video files etc..
In the end, I did accomplish that, and again, the result is really wonderful.  Battery life is much better, everything is fast, smooth, accessible, and to say someething one could so seldom about Microsoft work, actually clever.
It shows what computers could be like, before we get to the Scotty talking-to-the-computer Startrek scenario.
Regards to all, and patience,
C.
p.s. Oh yes, about the one minute black-screen wait on startup.  This is actually not quite as great a problem as it seems, before Lenovo fixes the BIOS, provided you are comfortable with using Sleep as the default action on closing the lid. The machine comes back up nearly instantly on Win7, one more boon.  You just need to set the time delay before auto-Hibernation to something reasonable, particularly after you load the Lenovo power manager driver, because their default is 1 hour (!). You do that under the hidden Advanced power manager settings, under the item Sleep.
If the machine does Hibernate, it will give you the same 1-minute blackscreen before beginning to start up again, but from there the return is swift and flawless. I am using this machine very much in carry-around travel mode, and all the workings of the base G530 and Windows 7 for it are simply great.

  • Windows Support Software Unaviable when trying to download using the assistant

I can't download the Windows 7 support software using the asistant it, the program tells me is a network error, i've read in the forums that you can use the OSX dvds but my macbookpro I bought my macbook this year and it came without any installation DVDs anyone know a workaround to this problem?

For the sake of full disclosure, I skip the Assistant part, I still use Apple drivers.
That makes it easy to clone and use Windows as 100% native as a PC.
NTFS from Paragon supports Windows in its own control panel as Startup Disk and write.
HFS from Paragon improves on AppleHFS to mount and provide read and write support.
Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12 Suite handles Windows 8 management.
Note that with Windows on its own drive you 'boot' from System Reserved partition for Windows, not from your Windows volume. Should be 100MB for 7 and 350MB for 8.
PLEASE, OP, read the guide etc. There are no DVDs for Lion, so it is download only.
There is a link to Boot Camp 4.0 but you really want 4.01+ Shame. Downloads take couple minutes (600MB file, so whatever your broadband can handle). That is the way it should be.
It has been crippled and can't be just a fluke.
I think most would like to download from the AppStore for free or small fee $2.99 if that would work and give you the latest and be done in 10 minutes.

  • ErrorCan't install Windows Support Software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.

When I try to install bootcamp I get the above error. I have OS X 10.7.4 and intel 2.16 Ghz core 2 duo chip.  I am not connected to a network.  None of the proxy servers are checked.  I have restared the assistant twice and get the same error.

the question has been asked multiple times today, this week, for over a year, and even in the last hour. the answer does not change? It does get rather old for some of us who see the same question day and month after month.
It is and has been deplorable and has not been officially addressed or acknowleged. To the best of my knowledge this you can do, besides keep retrying -

"Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies  Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started.  Windows support software is now downloading...  if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Make sure you are not using LittleSnitch or Symantec (probably other 3rd party firewall) which do interfere, a Safe Boot should bypass their loading also - there are other products that interfere as well and some now with Mountain Lion.

  • Endless waiting for the windows support software to download

absolutely uncomfortable speed when windows support software drivers downloading
it seems to take a few days!!!
ohhh, that expensive big data center...
    has anyone same problem?

Go to the BootCamp community and read about how many have the same problem.

Apple really doesn't want you to use Windows and only cranked up BootCamp to ward off the hackers who would have done it anyway like the "Hackintosh".

  • Windows 7 no drivers for IE

I am using a late 2011 edition of the macbook pro 13". I have installed windows and update the software and drivers via boot camp but when in windows the IE still has problem connecting to the internet and say that there are no drivers installed. My internet works fine on mac os. I am using mac os 10.7.4. tks alot in advance!

you have a network configuration issue, IE is just the "messenger"
And you have installed the Lion Windows Support Software drivers?
    Next, configure using wired connection.
And yes just because it works under OS X has nothing to do with how your router/modem is configured to talk to Windows.
"No network connection" under Windows is a common thread here.

  • Use a partition on external drive for windows support software

    Hello
I am trying to install Windows 7 on my MacBook AIR  13" 8GB.  I have an external drive that i created a partition for the Windows Support software but when I choose to proceed in Boot Camp Assistant to download the windows support software it says the entire drive has to be one partition formatted to MS DOS.
Any way around this..I have the Windows disc and would like to avoid having to buy another 8 GB or greater size external disc drive
    Thanks

I do not want to install Windows on the external drive.
An external drive is needed to download the windows support software as stated in Boot Camp.  It seems I cannot use a partition on the external drive to download the support software.. Wondering if there is a work around this..

  • Problem Downloading Windows Support Software

    Hello,
I opened up Boot Camp Assistant and tried to download the Windows Support Software, however, when I click Continue, I get a pop-up saying,
"The start-up disk does not have enough space to be partitioned. You must have at least 10GB of free space available."
I tried deleting some files and applications, so now I have 14.25GB available, but I'm still getting the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Woo

The space must be contiguous, not fragmented, but in addition to that you do not have enough space at all.
40-50G for Windows 7, 20G for XP, plus OSX needs 10% free, you will never make it.

  • Downloading windows support software slow

Trying to install on new mac mini a windows partition. Been stuck on "downloading windows support software" for over an hour. Have a fast connection, already downloaded win7 ultimate 32 bit iso. Not sure why its taking so long.
Tried this already with win7 ultimate 64 bit. Would not connect to internet and no bluetooth support. Deleted partition and am trying again with 32 bit version. Taking for ever. Have latest updates to mac OS.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

use Windows with VirtualBox VM for now.

  • How can I uncheck the option to 'download latest windows support software' in the boot camp assistant?  The option to uncheck is locked

MBP 2013 Retina running OSX 10.9.2
I am trying to install Boot Camp using Boot Camp Assistant 5.1.2 (481)
I have a Windows 7 Pro ISO from MS.
When I open the Boot Camp assistant and try to create a bootable USB, it freezes on the 'downloading windows support software' part. I have tried multiple times.
I was able to download the latest support software from Apple, but no matter what I try I am unable to uncheck the box to download the software in the boot camp assistant
    Ideas?

Me too have the same problem where i couldnt uncheck the 'download windows support software' option when im installing Windows 8 Pro (ISO in bootable USB 3.0) using Boot Camp on my MBP retina OS X 10.9.2.
And if i have to follow these steps, it takes too much time and im not sure if it will be finished or not (im stopping the process for i have waiting for at least 3 hours downloading). And im pretty sure my internet connection is doing good when downloading this thing. What's happening here?
    Please help.

I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.
    http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

    Hi,
apart from the MacBook Air this feature is of no use for other Macs right now.
Simply ingnore it (click "I already have the Drivers...) and continue with the installation.
Sorry to say but you need the OSX Install DVD for the BootCamp Driver installation.
The 3.0 version of the BootCamp Drivers is only avaiable on the disc.
Later updates (3.1 and 3.2) can be downloaded from Apples Support website.
Call Apple and ask for a replacement and they usually send you one for a small fee.
And have the Serial-Number of your Mac at hand when calling.
And since the OSX Install DVD can also be vital for maintenance and repair it is best to have one.
The needed BootCamp Drivers are on the OSX Install DVD 1 that came with your Mac.
Insert that disc while in Windows after the Windows installation to install the drivers.
    Regards
    Stefan
