G550 Model 2958 OS replacement disc?

I have a G550 model 2958 laptop that the hard drive went bad in.  I had made a recovery disc, but found out too late that the recovery disc was corrupt and would not work.  I am wondering if there is a way to obtain a recovery CD or DVD so that I can get the laptop running again?  It was running Win 7 Home Premium and I have the product key on the bottom of the laptop.  Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Hello and welcome,
The easiest way to go is to call support and order recovery media.  There's usually a charge for this, although you might (politely) argue that you did your due dilligence - made your own media - but that it failed.

Another way to go is to download a Win 7 HP ISO and burn to DVD.  Install and activate using your existing key.  You'll probably have to use the automated phone activation system.  You'll also have to install the Lenovo drivers and software by hand.
Google "legal windows 7 download notebook review".

  • Lenovo G550 Model 20023 OS

    Hello,
I bought my Lenovo G550 model 20023 around 4 years ago. When I recieved the laptop there was not any operating system on it and the seller told me that this model does not have one.
But now, after years!, by accident I came across this link that shows all the G550 series have windows OS preinstalled on them.
My CPU is Intel pentium T4400 with 2 DDR3 gigabte of RAM. My hard disk is 250 GB. I could not find exactly a g550 laptop with these specifications in that link, but there are two models with the same CPU.
Does my laptop have a windows os? If yes, can I take it back by lenovo company?

Hi yashar2014, welcome to the forums,
the odf you linked to only contains models manufactured for the US market, I don't believe there was a document of this type for systems sold on the European market at the time.    You can tell they are US systems by the "U" on the end of the type / model numbers e.g. 2958-2CU.
Do you have a similar 7 digit type and model number on your system or any other identifying numbers except the serial number?  Do you have the Lenovo order number for the system?   I'm pretty sure there were versions of the G550 on sale in Europe with DOS preinstalled, no Windows OS.

  • Re Safe to use macOS X replacement discs on macbook 4,1?bySBV?

    1.  Is it safe to use Mac OS X replacement discs on Macbook 4,1 (make sure is 4 1)?  This macbook is like a child w/o parents.
    2.  Is it true this macbook 4 1 was upgrade to 6MG and that can be downloaded from apple?  sbv.illi

    1. If they are the gray install disks that came with the MacBook. The gray disks are specific to a machine. They only have the drivers and files for the machine that they came with. You have the operating system on disk one and iLife and additional software on disk 2.
Otherwise you'll need to use a retail disk.
    Snow Leopard 10.6
    or Leopard 10.5
    2. The model 4.1 can use 6gb (not mb) of RAM. It's physical chips and not downloadable. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/
Here's instructions on replacing RAM http://homeoffice.consumerelectronicsnet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=44404
. To make sure which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.

Call Apple and give them your serial number and they will send you the disks for a nominal charge.

If you purchased the software from Adobe directly, Contact Customer Care - they can tell you if there is a chance to get a replacement disk.  But most likely they will tell you to download the software.

I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.8.1.  I had an Epson Inkjet printer (Stylus C88 ) that had seen its better days. I purchased a refurbished model (C88+ ) to replace the old one, simple enough. Since I've done this before, I didn't think I had to install the CD. I have since discovered the CD isn't recognized on my computer and/or by this Mountain Lion system and that I had to go to Apple to upgrade the new driver for this product, and which I did, but I can't find the epson folder  other than the attached. I just want to place an alias printer logo on my desktop but I can't find it anywhere.   What to do???

Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Need replacement disc for Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard

My hard drive on my MacBook Pro is crapping out on me and refuses to let me make a full bootable backup so I can replace the disk. Problem is that I've foolishly managed to lose my physical disks for Creative Suite CS3 Design Standard so I can't do a reinstall. Can anyone on the forum help? Thanks in advance.

If you still have your serial number somewhere, you may call Adobe Tech Support and provide them with the details that you have. If you are really nice to them, they may send you a replacement disc. Good Luck.

  • Replacement Discs to Wipe a hard drive

I recently got a macbook and would like to wipe my emac to sell it. I can't find my original discs for the emac. Is there a way to download and burn replacement discs?
    Any help would be great!

MacBook discs won't boot an eMac. And even if they did, it would be a violation of the Apple EULA to do so and then sell the eMac with Leopard installed on it. I see eMac Tiger discs on eBay right now for $100. I'd really try and buy from Apple first before springing that kind of cash on an eBay auction.

  • Replacement discs for cs5 creative suite

I am a college student and bought cs5 creative suite two years ago, and have since then lost my discs while moving around. My computer that has the program on it just finally bit the dust so to speak and I am wondering if there is a way to get replacement discs and how I would go about doing that.

  • Tiger replacement disc question

I received 4 replacement system discs for my PowerPc G5 today.
I wanted to run Apple Hardware Test but the discs aren't marked except with numbers.
Using the option key at startup I am only able to select one of them to boot from and that is the one marked 1.
But am unable to boot from it, part of the problem I have been  experiencing.
Have been troubleshooting for close to 3 weeks now with a new optical drive arriving today. Installed new ram, new battery, new hd.
I thought the AHT disc would help in the process.
Was just wondering if AHT is in fact on disc number 1 of the replacement discs.
    Many Thanks for any help.

I called apple and they sent me the discs but had to pay $69 and some change. I gave them my serial number and double checked with them that I would be getting a disc with the hardware test. I told them the original operating system that shipped with my computer.
Apple Power Macintosh G5 2.0 GHz DP - PowerPC 970fx
the discs I received are 4 white discs with Mac OS Tiger Printed on the top. They are white with black print.
Printed on the discs it says "Replacement CD Not For Resale with the serial number and then 2005 Apple Inc. All Rights Reserved"
Mac OS Tiger Install Disc 1  SRF2Z691-5815-A
Mac OS Tiger Install Disc 2  SRF2Z691-5816-A
Mac OS Tiger Install Disc 3  SRF2Z691-5817-A
Mac OS Tiger Install Disc 4  SRF2Z691-5818-A
I looked through the contents of the discs and didnt see anything mentioning the test.
    Thanks again for the help.

  • Creative Suite 3 Extended Replacement Disc

Does anyone know how much it costs to get a Photoshop CS3 Extended replacement disc from Adobe? Also, how long does it take to be posted through?
    Many thanks.

Call Adobe and do it fast....they don't hold onto older versions very long.

  • Replacement Disc

I have a mid-2008 iMac that came with Leopard on it (now has S.L.), and my Mom has an iMac G5 that we got used from eBay.
However, the PowerPC G5 did not come with any discs...and we want to upgrade it to Leopard.
If I call Apple and ask for a replacement disc for my Intel iMac (the one that originally came with Leopard), can I then use that to install Leopard on my Mom's G5?  Or will the disc they send only be able to be installed on my machine?

The replacement disk for your Intel iMac will be a machine-specific installer and will not work with the G5 machine.  Apple no longer sells Mac OS X 10.5 so that has to be found from sources such as Amazon, eBay or others.
You can try Apple Customer Support to see if they will send a G5 iMac-specific disk, you have to give them the machine serial number.  Check: http://www.apple.com/contact for the number.

  • How to replace disc drive in G4 iMac 700

Seems the disc tray is stuck, makes sound like trying to open, but doesn"t.  Think I need to replace?

    Hi S,
If you have the newer unibody style, it's very easy. If it's one of the earlier models, it's considerably more difficult. Go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info > Hardware and find your Model Identifier. Then go to ifixit.com, or powerbookmedic.com or macsales.com or youtube or others and there are illustrated, detailed directions. Good luck to you and post back if you have further questions.

  • Replacement disc for macbook

I recently got a macbook (late 2007 model) but it came with the wrong system discs.  I know they are very specific.  I found ones for an early 2008 on ebay but those probably won't work.  But they had part numbers or serial/version numbers on them.  How do I find the numbers for my macbook so I know I'm getting the right ones?  Should be 10.5
