G550 screen goes black with no backlight

After 16 months of using, when I try to start my g550, the system seems to start up (all the noises and lights on the front side go on), but the monitor either remains black or lights up for a few seconds and then goes black, with no backlight.
Please help...

Hello ddominikaa and welcome to community,
Kindly remove the battery and disconnect the power adapter, press the power button for 10 seconds connect the power adapter and check if the display comes.
If the display does not come and laptop is in warranty then contact the support center and get the service case log.
Best Regards,

  • Windows 8 in Boot Camp screen going black with computer still on.

    I'm running an iMac 3.0ghz Core2 Duo 27" with 4gb of ram.
As the title says, I have Windows 8 installed on Boot Camp and just in the past week this has started happening and I can't figure it out.
A little while after running Windows (usually a game), the screen will go black, but I can still hear what's happening and can even continue typing and interacting. The problem is that I can't see anything. The only thing I can do is turn off the computer. I've found advice on how to fix this if it happens in the Mac OS, but it hasn't happened on the Mac side and all of the steps to take don't affect what is happening on the Windows side.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the display or the graphics card, but can't figure out why it only happens in Windows. I have everything up to date as far as I can tell, so I'm really lost.
While I am running MacOS 10.8.2, I never have problems. There is a bit of image persistence that I have and have been leaving the screen on a little longer than normal. That may affect this problem.

With Windows 8 you're pretty much on your own right now as Apple doesn't support it yet in Boot Camp. You're just going to have to be patient or revert back to Windows 7 which is supported. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new but that's how it is, if you need additional info please post in the Boot Camp forum, that's where most of the Boot Camp and MS Windows gurus hang out.

  • Ipad screen goes black with white letters

what is the problem? start reading in book and screen suddenly go to black back ground and white letters

If you open an ibook and tap the AA button towards the top right of the screen what options do you have set ? You should get theme options : white (black text on white background), sepia (black on brown) and night (white on black) - and possibly an 'auto-night theme' option (that might not show on all ibooks) which will automatically change to white on black e.g.
If 'auto-night' is 'on' then turn it 'off'

  • My 3000 c200 8922 laptop's screen goes black with white showing through at boot-up.

When ever my computer starts up, all that shows is a black screen and some a faint white color.  It was kind of acting up a last week or so.  When I was using it, the screen went white in stripes for a few seconds.  I think I might caused it some major harm while surfing the net.  Any ideas?  I have no knowledge as this computer is kind of old.

could be possible graphic card or ram issue.
can you check if the issue persists on external display?
also, try to remove/re-seat or swap the ram sticks.

  • Mac keeps FREEZING and screen goes BLACK!?!

My computer freezes up and eventually the screen goes black withe the rainbow waiting mouse. So I restart it manually by pressing the button, and turn it back on again. I login, the old programs come back on. I try to click something. The screen freezes andgoes black again with the rainbow waiting mouse.
    This happens everytime.
    Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
-I left it off all night and tried it again in the morning. Didn't work.
-I think it started when I plugged my iPhone 4 in the usb.
-itunes wants to update but I can't do it.
-between restarts, I noticed that there was a software update sign, but my computer kept freezing and turning off.

  • Screen goes black constantly, okay with Windows

My mid-2010 21.5" iMac has been having issues for a while now.  The screen goes black randomly.  This happens anywhere from once a week to once every two seconds for days on end.  I've done plenty of research and seen similar problems but no real solutions.
    Symptoms:
Screen goes to sleep.  Shine a flashlight on it, can still see stuff, so it's just the backlight out.
It'll either happen at startup, before the Apple logo, or after using for a while.
Using a hot corner or keyboard shortcut will temporarily wake it up.
If watching video, sound still plays even though screen is black.
Had it in a 60 degree room with A/C blasting on it, no change.
    Tried resetting PRAM, SMU.
Hardware test was fine, but I can't do this when it's not actually working.
    External monitor works fine.
Really weird-  this does not happen with Windows XP.  It runs fine.  So maybe a software problem?  BUT, the problem occurs when booting from Install DVD.  So maybe not a software problem.  I was going to wipe and re-install but can't even do that due to it blacking out.
I've had it in and they replaced the LCD, didn't help.
I wish it would just permanently stop working so it'd be easier to figure out, as it is, the intermittent nature is driving me nuts.  Can anyone please help?

I meant SMC, not "SMU".  Oops.
billkline, thanks for the input, the fact that Windows works has really got me scratching my head.  That's when I went to reinstall OS X but couldn't when it blacked out on the Snow Leopard Install DVD.  Thoroughly confused now.
Also, starting tonight it now hangs on the gray startup screen for thirty seconds before booting up.  This usually is a one or two seconds before getting the Apple logo.

  • Imac 27" Intel Core 7 CPU. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware scan and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back

Imac 27" Intel Core7  CPU 16 Gig RAM. Screen goes black and will not respond except with a push of power button. Second monitor connected via displayport continues to display fine. Apply Store did full hardware diagnostic and all is fine. Did clean wipe from Mavrick back to Mountain Lion but problem remains. Apple Store can do no more.

I did some more digging, it appears to be a backlight problem only. I can see the screen very dimly if I use a bright flashlight in a very dark room. It also seems to run ok if the brightness is turned down a LOT.
So I'm thinking this is a LED driver board issue or the display itself. I'll open it up and check the connection between the two and see if I can get any more clues. At least I can use it somewhat now by dimming the display significantly...

Let's first try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

  • Computer won't start up after recent version of mountain lion.  My power Mac was running extmely slow this morning, so i shut down to restart.  As it is starting the screen goes black, says something about debugging with the word panic in parentheses. was

I upgraded to latest version of mountain lion yesterday, this morning my power Mac was running extremely slowly (while typing, had to wait a second or two for words to appear), I shut down to see if problem would clear up.  When starting up, screen went black with programming jargon, something about debugging with the word panic in parentheses.  Screen then goes back to gray, says Mac encountered a problem and has to restart once I push a key.  Apple logo comes on gray screen, icon keeps circling and nothing happens.  This has happened three times in a row after shutting down and trying to restart.  Any thoughts?

When verifying disk, said could not repair disk, back up as many files as possible then re format disk.  Computer now doing Internet recovery. Should I. Do the following in this order
1 restore from back up on time machine
    2 re install osx
These are the options coming up on osx utilities window

  • While browsing the internet with my iPhone 4S the screen goes black and it looks like it's turning off, but it pops up to the unlock keypad screen.

While browsing the internet with my iPhone 4S the screen goes black and it looks like it's turning off, but it pops up to the unlock keypad screen. It has plenty battery and I was wondering if it is an issue of using too much of the iPhones RAM or not. I have no other apps open besides Messages. I am getting kind of worried as it started around two weeks ago and it has gotten increasingly frequent.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.

  • Issue with Macbook Pro (early 2011) screen going black.

I installed an SSD with Mt Lion.  Periodically the screen goes black like it's going to sleep.  It hasn't done this in the past just noticed it the last few weeks.
The SSD is a Crucial with 8GB of Crucial memory.  I've got all the software fixes up to date.  Has anyone else seen this.  I've read a few postings, one mentioned issues with Mt. Lion and another with a logic board in the laptop.

Well, seem like there's already ton of thread related to this issue ...

Trouble with mobile site. Displays for a second then screen goes black. Using safari, 4s on Verizon. Example: m.mlb.com/lad/

I hadn't checked the site since January or so, when it worked. It might be related to the Opening Weekend skin they have on the site, but for me, it shows the top part of the page for 3 seconds while it's loading (scrolling down is impossible) and then all of a sudden it turns black, showing nothing. It's that way for every MLB mobile site.

    Two seconds later:
I noticed this on 4/7/12. Does anyone NOT have this problem?

Try restarting, when you hear the startup tone hold down the Option key. Then choose the Recovery Partition.
